ijustdey:So kini big deal Is it wrong for a man to aspire to other career prospects? Or is he supposed to roll over and die after his career in the DSS? |
LifestyleTonite:Interestingly, majority of the affected properties are not owned by the poor. They are owned by rich people who illegally acquire property, block of canals and drainages and generally constitute environmental nuisance. When the resultant floods from these environmental breaches happen, the poor are the most hit. Besides, when is the right time to tackle an illegality? I understand his need to stay relevant and maintain visibility, but Mr. Obi needs to stop hopping on every trending topic. Sometimes, silence is golden. |
Islie:Even if he does, clowns like Aisha Yesufu will still say he probably paid off the school or forced them to accept him as their former student. The President should focus on his job and not bother with puerile distractions. |
Penguin2:So what? What exactly is the point of this "revelation?" |
You carry biscuits and juice go your in-law house. In-law wey you dey meet for the first time oooo! Dem accept am with happiness. Dem cook food for you and you chop am, still come give you bread join. You reject am sake of say e no worth much for ya eye abi?! Bros na wah for you oooo! ![]() Even if the thing no worth for your eye, shebi you go collect am, tell them thank you and as you waka far small, you take am bless some people wey need am. That way, you would have created a good impression with your potential in-laws. Na Africa we dey and some of these things are delicate and can be misinterpreted. If their daughter is good enough to marry and their food good enough to eat, you should have accepted their gift as well. No do that kind tin again! |
Very entertaining article. Still does not change the FACT that President Tinubu won the election at the ballots and was also UNANIMOUSLY affirmed winner by the courts. That spells LEGITIMACY in my books. It really does not matter how many articles written or #NotmyPresident posts on social media. He most likely will be in charge for the next 4 years. We all need to support him to take our nation forward and stop whining. |
nairalandkachy1:Absolute nonsense! I just wonder why we all keep acting like democracy is all about the people alone. If that were to be so, then it would be a tyranny by the majority and not a democracy. Yes, democracy is a system where the people have a say in their government. But it is not just about getting the most votes; it's also about following the rules that keep the system fair. These rules, set by the law, apply to political parties and the public. Infact without these laws, there cannot be a democracy. In democracy, everyone must play by the rules. The laws make sure elections are fair, candidates and parties act responsibly, and any issues are resolved fairly. It's not just about winning votes; it's about winning them the right way – following the law, being transparent, and treating everyone equally. When rules are broken, the legal system steps in to protect democracy. Courts have the power to review elections and make sure they were done correctly. Even if a candidate gets the most votes, if they didn't follow the rules, a court can step in to make things right and sometimes making things right might involve overturning an election or overruling the "will of the majority." Think of democracy as a song where votes make the music, and the rule of law keeps everything in tune. Both parts – the people's voice and the legal framework – are crucial. Together, they create a government that truly represents and serves the people, sticking to the principles of fairness and justice that make democracy work. So let us not keep acting like the courts are doing anything untoward by over turning election results. That is a normal and acceptable part of democratic best practice anywhere in the world. Elections do not always end at the end of the ballot. Where the results are disputed, parties are required to approach the courts for justice. The alternative to this provision of democracy is a descent into anarchy and I do not think we want that. |
Politicstoday:The Appeal court is the final bus stop for gubernatorial reviews. |
firearcher:Don't mind the clown. The same guy that publishes threads on X almost on a daily basis to the cheers of his deluded groupies is talking about "stealth". I honestly don't know who is worse between him and his gullible followers. |
tolue42:This Hundeyin character is quite the master of deception, one might say a "Class A" scam artist. He consistently conjures up persuasive narratives to feed his ever-eager and trusting group of followers. After leading them down a primrose path for weeks with promises of a groundbreaking release of classified FBI documents, he returns with a disappointing and deflating statement, placing the blame squarely on "Nigerian journalists" for the failure of his scheme. It begs the question: when will his devotees begin to see through his grand deceit? ![]() |
eluquenson:1. The UK did not become this "fine and working" country in a day. 2. It is not quite true that there is "absolutely no reward for labour" in Nigeria. 3. We, the people of Nigeria, are just as culpable as our leadership for what Nigeria is. Our leaders are not from another country. 4. When we the people get an understanding that we have no other country but Nigeria, we will stop being so self-deprecating, roll up our sleeves and get to work building our country...like citizens of others countries did and are still doing. |
eluquenson:But why are we hesitant to "work our ass out (SIC)" here before we live fine here? Why do we give up on our land so easily, preferring to go work our asses off in countries where their citizens were patient enough to build ![]() |
Chingyyy878:When we wake up one day and realize we have no place to run to, we will rise and fix our country. For now, japa continua! |
Feintline:Yoy are obviously one of those suffering from the syndrome the writer desceibes in the paragraph below. "This issue has demonstrated to me in starkly dramatic terms how partisan blinders can distort people's perception of reality. When people so badly want something to be true, but it turns out to be untrue, they choose to hang on to the most absurd apophenic hallucinations (i.e., seeing predetermined patterns from a chaos of unrelated phenomena) they can invoke to validate their preconceptions. I've studied and taught this phenomenon for years but had never seen it manifest on a mass scale like this." |
oshozondii:Coming after the extensive deposition by CSU explaining most of these so-called discrepancies, these analysis is just a long and well constructed piece of junk. We really need to look to the supreme court now for the final position on this matter after which I hope we can move on to more serious issues of governance. |
thesilentman:She probably is feeling all warm and fuzzy about you. But do not encourage it. If you can keep the friendly and professional relationship going without getting caught up in any complicated situations, you can. If not, stay away from her. Work place relationships can get very complicated, moreso with a senior, female and married colleague. There will probably be some short-term gains but in the long run, you will find yourself trapped in the dead centre of a huge minefield. Don't do that to yourself. |
ogododo:This is a step in the right direction as long as the DSS undertakes a painstaking investigation to establish the facts so they do not end up punishing the innocent. The ease with which sensitive documents and information leak on social media is disturbing. It endangers national security and even exposes the public to harm. It is a highly unpatriotic and treasonable act and must be nipped in the bud. |
okosodo:DSS is actually the equivalent of the American Secret Service and FBI. They are the elite internal intelligence agency. There is an organisation called the Nigeria Intelligence Agency that is the equivalent of the CIA. They, like the CIA, are responsible for Nigeria's external intelligence. |
irunoko:Read the response of the government for crissakes!!!!! ![]() |
Ademola47:Every establishment has a dress code. Parliaments across the world adopt a formal dress code, and "way of life" or not, you need to comply. You cannot come dressed in jeans and t-shirt and not expect to be embarrassed. |
References1:Nigeria is currently facing severe economic challenges, and while subsidy removal is not the silver bullet it is made out to be, it is a crucial part of actions that the government can take to stabilize the economy. The immediate effects will be dire but FG can effectively mitigate the consequences for its citizens by diverting part of the proceeds saved from subsidy removal to implement the following palliative solutions. Implement targeted social welfare programs: The government should introduce comprehensive social welfare programs aimed at providing financial assistance and support to vulnerable segments of society affected by subsidy removal. These programs can include direct cash transfers, food subsidies, and healthcare provisions, ensuring that basic needs are met for those most affected by the removal of subsidies. Encourage investment in alternative energy sources: In order to alleviate the burden on citizens and reduce dependence on petroleum products, the government should actively promote and incentivize the adoption of alternative energy sources. This could involve providing tax breaks and subsidies for renewable energy projects, as well as promoting research and development in clean energy technologies. By diversifying the energy sector, Nigeria can reduce its reliance on petroleum and create new employment opportunities. Strengthen public transportation infrastructure: With the removal of petroleum subsidies, transportation costs are likely to increase, affecting the livelihoods of many Nigerians. To address this issue, the government should prioritize the improvement and expansion of public transportation systems. This can involve investing in the development of efficient and affordable mass transit systems, such as buses and trains, and expanding their coverage across the country. By enhancing public transportation options, citizens can have access to more affordable means of commuting, mitigating the impact of increased fuel prices. Above all, the government also needs to lead by example by drastically cutting down the cost of governance and plugging holes in revenue leakage. |
ijustdey:There is no part of the actual article that correlates with the silly headline. The NSA did not say anything about social media. He was referring to the inconveniences that would be suffered by residents due to the heightened security measures before and during the inauguration. He stated that though they were not envisaging any thing negative, residents should bear the inconveniences until the guests depart the country. He wasn't talking about social media posts! |
Hurbashola:At this rate, Obi will blame APC and Tinubu if he gets stuck in traffic. ![]() That said, I just hope this isn't another tall tale because the man has a knack for spinning every occurrence to his advantage. He has a hyperactive imagination and a ready pool of fans to lap up and run with anything he says without questioning. Is UK immigration trying to say that they do not have a clear record of the comings and goings of a VIP like Peter Obi so much so that they would mix him up with an impersonator? The story does not add up in my opinion. Sounds more like a kite is being flown here. But I may be wrong and I hope they catch the "impersonator" soon. |
yns4real:Wike? What about Wike? Is he untouchable? ![]() |
Kwankwaso just got his son in law elected as governor of his state and there are congratulations all over social media. Of this had happened in Lagos, we all know that Nairaland will have caught fire today ![]() Our hypocrisy stinks to be honest! |
ijustdey:This move by NLC is akin to cutting off the legs of a crippled man because he isn't moving fast enough. Where is the wisdom in that ![]() |
iCauseTrouble:You don't have to. Many Nigerians did not recognise Buhari as their President. Didn't stop him from finishing his term as President. You will be all right. |
The optics would probably be a lot better if he'd visited the Oba of Lagos. |
ExAngel007:If you are indeed the "constitutional lawyer" he claims to be, then he should know that stopping the collation and announcement of results at this time will lead to a constitutional snafu. Instead let the process play out and leverage the dispute resolution mechanism at the tribunal to seek redress. |
onthehill:I am for free and fair elections...but I am also for civil means of seeking redress. Let me make it clear - ANYBODY THAT THREATENS MY PEACE OF MIND AND SECURITY IN LAGOS IN THE NAME OF ELECTION PROTEST WILL BE MATCHED PROTEST FOR PROTEST!!! The same way your right to protest is protected by the constitution is the same way mine to counter-protest is protected. Any bagger that wants to protest should ensure they relocate to their village and lead the protest from there. I live and earn my livelihood in Lagos. I will NEVER STAND BY TO WATCH THE NONSENSE THAT HAPPENED DURING ENDSARS REPEAT ITSELF. Enough of all this madness in the name of wokeness. Anyone that feels hard done by the election results should seek legal means of redress and if you lose that also, wait till the next time. We either have a democracy or we don't. You cannot come out stoking violence in an election whose results have not even been fully announced just because you are a public figure. No be only you get werey! |
AtorKelly:Way too early for all of these cries IMHO. Why try to delegitimise the results of an election where not even up to 50% of results have been collated? What if Obi wins it eventually? Why concede defeat even before the results are formally announced? Best to wait for the results to be announced. In the meantime, gather your evidences, put together your legal team and head for the courts of not satisfied with the result. |
