They will condemn him to death and will turn him over to the Gentiles, who will mock him and spit on him, flog him and kill him. Three days later he will rise’."—Mark 10:33,34

"Whoever comes to me I will never drive away. For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me. And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall loose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. And surely I will be with you always, to the very end of the age."—Matthew 28:18-20
"The Father judges no-one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honour the Son just as they honour the Father. He who does not honour the Son does not honour the Father, who sent him. I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life. I tell you the truth, a time is coming and has now come when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God and those who hear will live. For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son to have life in himself. And he has given him authority to judge because he is the Son of Man. Do not be amazed at this, for a time is coming when all who are in their graves will hear his voice."—John 5:21-28

Yeah in believers Holy Spirit is manifested in various ways: in the field of knowledge, for wisdom, skill and understanding; in this wicked world He is for power to overcome; in gospel the power to testify Jesus and do miracles in His name; and on what comes after life, what makes believers children of God right on earth and make them heirs of His kingdom.

lanrexlan: Do I look like the bible writers?

Oops, does those attributes befits the majesty of the Creator of heavens and earth and all that's in between? What I am stressing is that the attributes of the Creator should be unique and not shared. We still see the fingerprints of Allah in the bible,His attributes are distinctive.
Malachi 3:6 (NIV)- I the LORD do not change.

Isaiah 66:1 (NIV) -This is what the LORD says:Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool.Where is the house you will build for me? Where will my resting place be?

Isaiah 43:11 (NIV)- I,even I am the LORD, and apart from me there is no savior.

Deuteronomy 6:4(NIV)- Hear,o mean of Israel your lord our God is one God.

Does the above attributes make sense to you? It's the same bible that says God lives in Zion[Joel 3:17] and used to wander about[1 Chronicles 17:5-6],but Isaiah 66:1 says NO.It's the same bible that says nobody has see God at any time[1 John 4;12],yet the bible also says God was seen by the children of Israel[Exodus 34:6-7,Exodus 24:9-11].
It's the christian belief that God was transforming but Malachi 3:6 says NO.

So,how do we separate the chaff from the grains? How we give the Creator His proper attributes? We can only do this in the light of the Quran and logical reasoning. The Quran is a Muhaiminan- that testifies the truth that is therein and falsifies the falsehood......Peace
So your argument further shows that certain people carefully wrote out some things from the Bible and used them to design other things away from the purpose of the Bible. Our Bible from Genesis to Revelation doesn't portray God as God of confusion for people that understand Him and walk in His way.

You are on board. You are just starting reading the BIBLE but you have a long way to go cos HOLY SPIRIT has not been invited to interpret things that are obscure to you. You should know reason we are human beings to add and weigh things in order to locate the centre of balancing. At such location all burdens are properly tackled: be it physical, spiritual and mental. The Bible reveals that knowledge is for the rise and falling it is when truth is discovered that there will be confidence and stability. Read YOUR Bible all thru you will know it lays emphasis on certain things: the way to God and His salvation.

Christianity Etc › Re: Can Someone Explain These Verses? by Rexyl(m): 6:05pm On Aug 13, 2013
lilbakar: i would be pleased if a Christians explains to us these verses stated below,because Muslims don't know any prophet of God who has come with such barbaric mission not even prophet Jesus(pbuh) himself who is alleged to have said;

"Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law"(Matt.10:34-35),kjv

"I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? But I have a baptism to be baptized with; and how am I straitened till it be accomplished! Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three. The father shall be divided against the son, and the son against the father; the mother against the daughter, and the daughter against the mother; the mother in law against her daughter in law, and the daughter in law against her mother in law" (luke12:49-53)kjv

"If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple" "luke14:26" kjv

what the Qur'an says about the mission of Jesus;

and in their footsteps we sent Jesus the son of Mary, confirming the law that had come before him and we bestowed on him the gospel, therein was guidance and light (Qur'an5;46)

then we sent after them our messengers, and we sent Jesus son of Mary and gave him the Injeel(Gospel), and placed compassion and mercy in the hearts of those who followed him

according to the Qur'an prophet Jesus(pbuh)was sent as guidance and light for Israel, he came to bring peace and not kindle fire. prophet Jesus did not encourage his disciple to hate their parent but commanded them to be kind to them, and this is same to all prophets of God.
The Bible is a divine book written by people inspired by the Spirit of God. Because of its divine nature and inspirations contained no one can read it and understand what a message stands for in 100% except such person finds someone who knows better to explain the content. There is nothing contradictory in the messages of Jesus Christ. In some places after he had spoken at length and people could not still understand he resorted to speaking in parable, illustrating things in very simple and clear ways to erase all confusion. If you want to understand what a particular message is addressing you must read the whole chapter and even if possible read both preceeding and succeeding chapters, then you can understand to some extent. Now to your confusion in those texts. Jesus Christ has two sides. Love and mercy combined as the side of grace, the other side is judgement and fire to workers of wickedness. The grace is open to all people when they alive to accept his gospel and live by it whereas for people that are dead there is no more grace but judgement. You should know that nobody can face God‘s judgment about sins and still be righteous.
Christianity Etc › Re: Preach The Gospel by Rexyl(m): 5:19pm On Aug 13, 2013
The gospel of Jesus wants the person that is saved to rise for salvation of others. God is not pleased with death of a sinner but that he should repent and stop doing evils. God wants as many people as possible to be saved.
@OP

I don't think there is anything wrong in this.. Reason:

Jesus is actually a Hebrew name that is originally spelt and pronounced as Yeshua, meaning Deliverer or Rescuer.. Many Hispanics also name their children Jesus pronounces 'ye sue'. So no biggie here.

Now Christ is not a name per se but an adjective that qualifies Jesus. That's why the bible would have passages where Jesus was asked ' are you the Christ'. This is because Christ simply means 'messiah', hence the referring to Jesus as Jesus the Christ.

So if your friend chooses to name her child Jesus Christ, it's not a problem at all. The name wasn't what made Jesus who he was.

Christianity Etc › Re: Are There Additional Benefits Attached To Midnight Prayer? by Rexyl(m):
The Bible says “pray without ceasing“ meaning all times are important to seek God for our petitions. It depends on individuals to select the best time for this. Some Christians already know that the best time is when demands on their time are minimal to have personal encounter with God. God is Spirit, He can manifest Himself or show His presence at any time. Receiving revelations and coming down of His power and presence are not time bound. These are possible at any time depending on the state of preparedness to receive from God. Isaiah 55:6 “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near“. It is left to you to discover the right place and time bearing in mind what occupies your mind in the fellowship. Many of us believe that the right time is early in the morning. Jesus our Saviour and the example we follow showed that the best time to seek God is early in the morning. Mid night prayer is just a means to avoid all distractions, ensuring that nothing else is place on the mind order than matters brought to God. In other words mid night prayers offer opportunity for weak believers to get the lifting up with those who are stronger in spirit to overcome their weaknesses while concentrating on matters needing divine solutions.
Christianity Etc › Re: Sunday School Lessons: What Do You Gain To Share With Others? by Rexyl(op):
Today’s topic is ‘Returning to Godly Standards’ God called us out of the world to walk in His way and do His will so that we can enjoy His blessings but our sins deny us full access to the blessings. Christians who cannot conform to godly standards as established by Jesus are yet to get out of darkness and walk in the light of God. Ephesian 5:8 says, Ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light. For us to live as children of light we must be committed in our service to God, and our lives must be based on taking responsibilities: what we must determine to give back to His honour and glory with sincerity of heart.

We are still continuing with Nehemiah’s example. Nehmiah was successful in leading his people back to God after their failures to serve Him and preserve His ordinances for many years. The people were deeply moved when they were taught the word of God again. They confessed their sins and resolved to reject sinful practices that had separated them from God. It was after they had done this that they were able to come back to God and continued as the children of light. Believer that has fallen short of the will of God must realise the need to amend his way. This requires regular confession of sins to receive forgiveness and cleansing. Failure to do this hardens heart against God’s saving grace.
The Bible reveals that sin cannot continue without consequences. God will judge sins meaning that people will be punished for their sins. God sometimes uses punishment to bring people back to Him. The Bible declares that God is ready to pardon, gracious and merciful, slow to anger, great in kindness, and ready to forgive his people. A believer should be conscious of sins committed, confess and turn from them in order to renew his commitment to serve God. We must be prepared to take the responsibilities of being children of God If our commitments should always bind us to doing His will.

Christians must not be overcome by temptation. We must determine to do away with practices that are improper for God’s people: behaviours such as sexual immorality, impunity, greed and many others as stated in Ephesians 5:3-7. Instead of being overcome by sinful practices we must commit to living rightly before God. People living by sinful behaviours cannot be children of God and heirs of the kingdom of Jesus. Christians are being implored to actively resist temptation of mingling with the world and its lusts. The world is continuously allowing all sorts of behaviours but Christians are encouraged not to tolerate sinful behaviours if we must withstand temptation.

As Christians we are being called to embrace godly standards and take responsibilities for actions we take in our commitments to do the will of God and obey His commands. Only submission to the lordship of Christ can help us reject all temptations without compromising faith. When we have fully retain godly standards we shall be able to live as children of light and bear the fruits of godly living (Ephesians 5:8-10). We must adopt godly living that non-believers should see the difference that Christ is living in us. Lesson texts: Nehemiah 9 tru Chapter 10.

It is just the way and plan of God differ from man's own. Also loving the world can not be combined with loving God. And all should be careful about the way that seems good to man but the end is death. Also God cannot be served with Mammon. Not knowing what God demands from you ln your faith and acting accordingly conotes walking in darkness that will eventually results in spiritual death. The Bible through the message of Christ reveals what exactly God demands from Man in very simple and clear terms without any controversy. ooman: Does diamond form naturally? And is it worth more than iron? Well answers are affirmative. So natural processes do make useful things spontaneously and stuff get contaminated most times. So no god or creator exist in nature.
Pls can you mention examples of evolution since human civilization - the time assumed that man had being in charge of his physical environment - modifying and creating something from natural resources. If the response is none then your submission is outdated that is you hold a theory that surfaced when man had not been involved in the creation and documentation. Or how could it disappear since time man has been keeping records? Or is it just disappearing for creative power of man? Or is it waiting to be active again after man would have been handicapped in his creative power?

For Darwinian (molecules-to-man) evolution to actually work, new genetic information is required each step of the way. In order for a fish to grow legs, new information must be encoded into the DNA. For a reptile to grow feathers, new information must be encoded into the DNA. For an apelike creature to evolve into a human, new information must be encoded into the DNA. This new information must add to or replace old information with new instructions to grow legs, or feathers, or human characteristics. But what is information and where does it come from?

Foundation for materialism (atheism, humanism, evolution) is that the universe consists of only two entities "mass and energy". Therefore, if a third entity can be shown to exist, then materialism and all philosophies based on it must also be false. Information is this third fundamental entity.

What is information?
In July 2006, a team of scientists representing various scientific disciplines met to evaluate a definition of information proposed by information scientist Dr. Werner Gitt, which is precise and corresponds very well to human languages and machine languages. The team proposed that this definition be called Universal Definition of Information (UDI) and agreed that there are four essential attributes that define it:
1. Code (syntax): Information within all communications systems contains a code. A code contains a set of symbols and rules for using letters, words, phrases, or symbols to represent something else. One reason for coding is to enable communication. Examples of codes would be the English alphabet, words, and syntax; hieroglyphics; or codes used in computers (for example, C,Fortran, or Cobol).

2. Meaning (semantics): Meaning enables communication by representing real objects or concepts with specific symbols, words, or phrases. For example, the word chair is not the physical chair but represents it. Likewise, the name “Bob” is not the physical person but represents the real person. When words are associated with real objects or concepts, it gives the word meaning.
For example, aichr and Bbo do not have meaning because they do not represent any real object or concept. However, if in the future one of these character strings were to represent a real object or concept, it would have meaning. Prior to the computer Internet age, the word blog had no meaning; today it is associated with a web page that serves as a personal log (derived from web log ) of thoughts or activities.

3. Expected Action (pragmatics): Expected action conveys an implicit or explicit request or command to perform a given task. For example, in the statement, “Go to the grocery store and buy some chocolate chips,” the expected action is that someonewill go to the store. This does not mean the action will actually happen, but it is expected to happen.

4. Intended Purpose (apobetics): Intended purpose is the anticipated goal that can be achieved by the performance of the expected action(s). For example, in the statement, “Go to the grocery store and buy some chocolate chips,” the intended purpose might be to bake and eat chocolate chip cookies.

These four essential attributes specify the definition domain for information. A definition of information (Universal Definitionof Information) was formulated by using these four attributes..

Scientific laws are precise statements formulated from discoveries made through observations and experiments that have been repeatedly verified and never contradicted. There are scientific laws about matter (Newton’s law of gravity, laws of thermodynamics, laws of electricity, and laws of magnetism). There is Pasteur’s law about life (law of biogenesis). Each of these laws is universal with no known exceptions. Scientific evidence that supports or refutes a scientific concept determines its level of certainty.
Fundamental Law 1 (FL1)
A purely material entity, such as physicochemical processes, cannot create a nonmaterial entity. (Something material cannot create something nonmaterial.)
Physical entities include mass and energy (matter). Examples of something that is not material (nonmaterial entity) include thought, spirit, and volition (will).

Fundamental Law 2 (FL2)
Information is a nonmaterial fundamental entity and not a property of matter.

The information recorded on a CD is nonmaterial. If you weigh a modern blank CD, fill it with information, and weigh it again, the two weights will be the same. Likewise, erasing the information on the CD has no effect on the weight.
Whao! I will just say this, if darkness is absence of light, evolunion is absence of creation, meaning there is nothing evolution without its ‘predecessor ‘ the creation. From the comments Ooman believes that nothing was created in the nature but that all are products of evolution. Can iron exist for use in its pure form and as solid mass without being refined and modified by creative power of an intelligent being? And within reasonable time frame? If the answer affirmative yes, then Ooman is winning some points. But if no everyone should place creation well above evolution and begin to see evolution as an environmental impacts on the creation.

From the commentOoman believes that nothing was created in the nature but that all are products of evolution. Can iron exist for use in its pure form and as solid mass without being refined and modified by creative power of an intelligent being? And within reasonable time frame? If the answer affirmative yes, then Ooman is winning some points. But if no everyone should place creation well above evolution and begin to see evolution as an environmental impacts on the creation.

excelsiorfarm: Another biz tip is NEVER DO ANY SECRET BIZ i.e. the biz that is clouded in secrecy is the ruin of many. Before you do any biz, inform at least a friend, brother or sister for counsel, support so you don't go into error. how? learn to share uncertain info/biz risk e.g. someone contacted me via this thread that I should establish an animal farm for him in the northern/ middle belt area, I informed him it will be cheaper to buy my manual and we be in touch thru email with calls, but he insisted I should come over that he could afford my consultancy fees, after negotiation and conclusion, we came to a fee, aside accommodation cost, later I decided to seat down to review all(I do it for important issues)and though I had assisted a lady(married) on how she can start branding biz in that same state and also designed a good biz card for her, i still wasn't comfortable with our decision, hence I shared it with someone close to me and I came to the conclusion I will invite a consultant friend and pay him 50% of my fees so I could get 100% loyalty. I contacted my friend ,came to an agreement, then called back the would be client clearly telling him, I would bring a friend, we don't need is accommodation(we find one for ourselves)and I would sponsor my friend etc. the guy/man hasn't called back for more than 6 months. Do you know why I had to share the info? the man was desperate. ethnic area he comes from and also it wasn't wise for him to want to pay so much for what he could easily had spend little to achieve, so it is with the uncountable scam mails I receive that they are asking to transfer millions(hard currency)to me, when am not their family.
Nice, it just like pray and watch cos some ppl are so desperate either for or not something good!

Christianity Etc › Re: Sunday School Lessons: What Do You Gain To Share With Others? by Rexyl(op):
Today’s topic is 'Recommit to God’s Word’. We are still continuing with the commitment of Nehemiah to restoring his city and bringing people back to God. Staying in God and abiding by His word really demand our commitment to serving Him. The Bible shows God as the merciful father that would not like to see His children continuing in suffering as a result of their disobedience even after they have wasted all opportunities. He is our loving father that will always want us back to Him after we have been led astray. Coming back to God in total commitment must be based on certain things: understanding God’s word, obedience to His word and taking delight in living by His word. We can know all these and live accordingly if we take time to read Bible and identify God’s purpose for our lives.

From Nehemiah’s example we are studying, people understood that God was ever faithful with His promise when they took time to seek God. He strengthened them to overcome all challenges. Also He protected them from attacks of enemies. They recognised all these when they were determined to know what God required of them which they had neglected for years as a result of disobedience. As we learned from the consequences of believer’s disobedience to God’s word, we are being called to know things that are essential to understand Bible in order to live a successful Christian life. We must love to hear and read the word of God, and not only this we must live practically on the word. Hence James 1:22 encourages us to be doers of the word, and not hearer only. It might be very difficult to read and understand God’s word by studying alone therefore we need someone that knows better to lead us through.

We need leaders who are dedicated to understanding Bible, to explain what the word means and how to practically apply it. They will help to protect believers from dangerous teachings against faith and instruct in biblical principles required for spiritual growth. We also learned that Christians sometimes live under the guilt of past sins as a result of spiritual failures. When we are conscious of this we must not allow the guilt and condemnation to dominate our thoughts instead we must come to receive Christ forgiveness and allow him to heal our hearts. Once this is done our grief will turn to joy. God wants joy in abundance for our lives if we can continue in His love and obedience to Christ. John 15:11.

Obedience to God’s word is essential for the blessings of God to come upon us. He is prepared to fight for us and frustrate our enemies so as to to be in the mood of victory and joy as He did for the Israelites under Nememiah’s leadership. All we need is rededicating our lives to God. As we are doing this we shall be able to live in a way that is consistent with Him. Serving God on our own terms will be of no benefits but to live by what He requires of us. We need to act in obedience to His word then we shall feel His presence and enjoy His blessings. MAY THE LORD HELP US AS WE DO SO IN JESUS NAME. Lesson text Nehemiah 8:1-8
