LadyBeee: I was at first bank today to do another investment on treasury bills as d one I did last has expired. I found out the interest rate has dropped drastically and no more option of 182 days, except 1 year. I had to leave without investing. What exactly is the problem with treasury bills? I'm really looking for something to invest in. Something safe and secure as treasury bills. It has been of great help to me. I can't do without investing Since it is a lot of work let me help you summarize Wema Bank ALAT offers around 8% and you can compound monthly Here is another from Unity Bank: https://www.unitybankng.com/products/single/high-yield-interest-deposit-accountFGN Bonds offers 14% for 10 years, but you can sell in the secondary market Mutual funds index is around 7% Best Regards RICH Forever |

isangjohnson: The key word here is "preservation of capital". I personally subscribed for short term investment not minding the low rates just to give room for navigation should the hand of CBN clock turns to my direction. At the moment, I believe secondary market of Fg bond rate will not exceed 11% and locking up cash for 5 years or thereabout at this rate is not a nice idea. You can sell your Bond in the Secondary Market and a Bond of 10yrs should give you around 14% |

Barrytone: i couldn't raise the 50m required so i invest on union bank commercial paper. am just desperate as i need school fees, couldnt wait less i pay fees from my capital. just preserved the capital till when bills improve. Anybody telling you that you need 50,000,000 is lying, try another organization. The requirements are clearly stated on DMO official website, please see attached, don't let one organization tell you rubbish and you give up like that https://www.dmo.gov.ng/fgn-bonds

OgogoroFreak: Why didn't your audio friend just tell you how they survived the theft instead of using a question to answer your question?
As long as I'm concerned, you have said nothing! You are just beating around the bush. You'll be very good with theories.
I know a staff that's in charge of driving Julius berger oil tanker to locations needed. This man built 3 big houses in Lagos within 2 years just by stealing part of these oils and other rons from the company. He was later caught and sacked. Are you saying a company as big as Julius berger does not know secrets to stop theft?
Sometimes, the people you put in place to prevent theft would even be the ones to steal from you. Yes! It is that bad. Go and ask pastor Oyedepo. The Average Nigerian is Dubious, it's our Ethics, they feel entitled to your money |

Kereokwu: Wow, I want to say a big thank you to all the contributors here, so much too learn. God bless you all richly in Jesus name Amen.
Well I have decided to try mmf using fbn quest since tb is too low, now here are my questions: a1. Will my capital be preserved just like tb? 2. What are the tenure(tb has 30d, 60days etc) 3. Can I pull out my funds anytime it matures 4. Any charges? 5. Pls fbn quest mmf office in Abuja.
b. Now for fg savings bonds what is the minimum tenure? 2. Can I get it at any commercial bank? 3. Wht are the rates now?
For someone who is learning stock and decides to buy 50k of( E.g uacn or Access), is the person a share holder or what is the difference.
C. What is FSDH?
Thanks a million folds in anticipation for the reply. I asked a similar question here, but no one responded, I had to go do some research on my own in the Mutual Fund Thread, after reading from page 1 - 70 here are my finding You capital is not preserved like TB, in the event that the Fund Managers go down, your fund goes with them Most have a Tenure of 3 months You can pull out your funds on Maturity They charge around 1.8% I dont know the answer the No 5, a quick Google search will help FGN Bonds is a minimum of 2 years You can get at Commercial Banks Rate are b/w 7 - 8% Best Regards Rich Forever |

Good Evening Sirs/Ma
I want to ask this question, due to the low TB Rates I have been frantically looking for other low-risk investments, because Capital is key and I must protect it by investing in something that will not waste my capital, Bonds are not good for me because the tenures are too long and anything can change within that long time frame, I have read a lot about Mutual Funds and think I want to invest my capital in it, but are there any risks involved, can the Coy go under with all your funds, if yes, I think I will just subscribe to Treasury bills and manage till things get better
Thanks for your swift and valuable response |

ojesymsym: The itrade app that allows you to buy and sell your shares was what made Morgan very easy for me to make a decision. As to if it is SSL secured, even the link you posted is http and not https which indicates it is SSL. I don't know how payment is done with them but I know that it will use pre existing secured platforms. The link is not an HTTPS secure link but once you click it, it automatically forces SSL, I can never trust a site that is not HTTPS secure, even if they are the cheapest, I am a software developer so I take these things very serious |

ojesymsym: Pretty easy. Register on their website, they will send the form to your email which you fill and send to them alongside your KYC documents as you would need in a bank. Now, I de wait for further instructions from them. Morgan Capital is not SSL secured, I think I prefer http://investnow.ng/ they have a very built site, very professional |

ukay2: To those starting small.....always know that most of our ogas here started small too .
You will soon be there if you remain focus in your investment goals.....SLOW AND STEADY INVESTMENTS WIN THE RACE.
Stock trading nowadays is better now with the use of real time online trading account with stockbrokers like Morgan Capital roup and other good brokers in the Nse unlike before where analog brokers deal with us as they like. .
....now I can trade real time in the floor of the NSE anytime I want once market opens.. ...quite exciting and fun too....while making good profit without stress once you master the market
.....it stills baffles me why some people and close friends are still afraid of stocks investment despite educating them on the new and current trading pattern .....maybe from previous bad experience. ...
However, most of us lost funds during that time too but with resilience and information available now, we are making good profit from the exchange now.
It's just having time to study the market and get relevant information in this forum and the NSEPA forum all in this nairaland.
May year 2020 and this new decade be a more fruitful and more financial knowledge for all of us to grow our funds . Amen.
Cheers! ! Please what are the new pattern, can you educate us, I just opened an account with investnow.ng they are sooo impressive |

isangjohnson: My cash has been lying untouched for two months now. Gurus in the house should please tell me how mmf works. What is the current rate now? How secure is my principal, should I decide to invest in it? What are the tenors? I swear, it is demoralizing, MMF pays Quarterly, and there are different types of MMF, some MMF invest in Equity (these are risky but with higher returns), while others invest in TB and other fixed Assets (these are less risky and claim to preserve your capital), to get their rate you may need to contact them directly, it is usually between 9% - 11% |

aremso: when i read stuffs like this i just burst into laughter, i think the best advice would have been, dont invest in what you dont know or before you invest, KNOW MUCH ABOUT WHERE YOU ARE PUTTING YOUR HARD EARNED MONIES. As i cant advice people to invest or not to invest, i will always tell them to know where they are putting there monies. Everyone paints our NSE as gloom and doom yet if you know when to enter and your exit time you still make good monies, like the little bulls alone today gave me 387k in a stock and in the next 90 days there might still be bulls cos of earning season with profits taking in btwn. Just know about where u put your money is the main advice, there are still some people who does not know a jack about tb and yet they also want to invest in tb cos people says in the safest investment Bro, you are right, since the user don't know much about stocks hence the advice, just today Oando gained 17% (in one day) If you know your Onions, why not? |

In the UK TB rate is 0.75 In the US TB rate is 1.75 We are all shouting that there are no jobs, in a healthy economy, the Government does not provide all the jobs, it is the Entrepreneurs that do that. If we are all subscribing to Tbills, who will create the jobs for the masses In as much I am sad about the dwindling TB rates (including the closing of borders) it the right step in the development of the country and as a Patriotic citizen I commend the FG's efforts |

damilola1978: What baffles me though is that, it all of these is happening (low FD rate, low Tbills rate..etc, closed border)..how come dollar rate is not dropping ...cuz I am not understanding Dollar is the number one currency in the world, kindly read up Bretton Woods System and Agreement, it cannot drop like that, also the Government want Naira to be attractive to investors hence the low rates, Also Dollar is not sitting idle, they are working and working harder and smarter than us, 50% 0f the world's GDP is shared between USA and China, we still require the Dollar to refine our fuel and many more fundamentals |
