Let her know that she can't wait for you...But if another man comes along the way, she's free to to marry..
Ask her if she's cut out for a polygamous life style.. if she says no, then tell her that the person that will marry that man is her and not her mother.. therefore she has a 100% say on whom she will spend the rest of her life with... Definitely not someone that she has zero feeling for...

When I was in secondary school some group of people came to our house to complain that I came to their bar and drank without paying and gave them our house address just in case I did not return with their money and fortunately for me it was my mum they met who stood her ground and told them she cannot give birth to a child that is reckless and she swore her life that it cannot be her child, the whole compound was shouting at her that you cannot swear for a grown up child.

She sent for me and when I came the people could not identify me as the person they were accusing. It was very dramatic and funny. Yes, my mum said the name they called was the name of her son but that her child cannot indulge in such reckless life as at that age. She was proud of me because of the moral imbibed in us her children. Real life story.

Eventually, we found out it was our neighbors son and his friends who went to the bar and gave my name and address just in case it goes sour and that ends my friendship with that guy till date, more than twenty years ago.

Parents of nowadays are the number one reason why their children are not well brought up.

It's true I'm not the only doctors in that unit, my team is a 5-man surgeon including my cheif, in cardio thoracic they are 9- 10 man in that unit and other specialty they are much more in number than us.
Now to my unit, when I was in my first year I had 3 Seniors two of them left neurosurgery for pathology and family medicine, the other senior is the only one left to handle some surgery which is under my cheif supervision, I learnt most of the procedure from him , my cheif only step in complex surgeries he is in his 60's , there's a traditiona here that a residents can't go on leave except his juniors are catching up with surgical procedures, now my senior is on leave i think it's 8-weeks leave he will soon be back tho , my leave depends on my juniors there are two of them (white guys) but it's like they are not really catching up with some procedures they are in their first year so I can't really blame them the pride of being in neurosurgery is still hindering them so my leave is not any time soon until they can handle minor surgeries even if my senior is back ...the crux of the matter is we save life, that smile on you patient's family when you walk out of the operating room and you tell them their sons, daughter, husband or wife is doing good that hug , that feeling is out of this world, though I've had bitter experience as a doctor when you lose a patient and you can't even look at their family's face to tell them their son didn't make it.... it's just crazy
