CultureRe: How Are Your Older Folks Responding To New Technology? by rman: 10:40am On Aug 28, 2014
Orikinla: OP, the older folks you know must be intellectually re-tarded and even the majority of the younger generation of Nigerians are also intellectually re-tarded
Most of them know nothing more than Facebook, Twitter, Nairaland and gossip blogs.
When I wanted to discuss Mobli and Keek with many young Nigerians, they were clueless when kids from 7 years are at summer camps in the US, Europe and Asia developing mobile apps and online games, Nigerian kids are hooked on discussing European soccer leagues and wasting millions of naira everyday betting like idi-ots and having useless chats on 2go and posting rubbish on Facebook and downloading senseless caller tunes on their mobile phones.

The older folks are in fact far ahead managing leading IT companies like Chams, Zinox and other companies using mobile cloud computing and other latest technologies in their offices from KPMG to PricewaterhouseCoopers where majority of the younger folks are in fact unemployable, because of their low IQ. And I am busy developing advanced mobile apps for tech startups for the Mobile Cloud Market Worth $46.90 Billion by 2019 as reported on my multimedia news and information blog http://www.nigeriansreport.com/2014/08/mobile-cloud-market-worth-4690-billion.html

How many of the younger folks in Nigeria know what is Cloud Computing in Education?
Discussing high tech IT with them is an ordeal, because they are just too clueless to grasp such 21st information trends.
Nigerian youths need to wake up!
Notice me post. Clearly off topic.

RomanceRe: Response 2 Rosemary! Why Do We Girls Think We Are Doing Guys A Favour With Sex? by rman: 8:46am On Aug 23, 2014
Godmother: Guess you haven't seen situations where the reverse is also the case. Your values are not bad ones Onila. Its just the way you are going about it. Yes we live in a double-standard society which is making we women to be careful cos of the bad name some might give a girl, but like I said, times are changing and a lot more people are becoming more liberal and enlightened.

I'm not advocating sleeping around, far from it. I'm just saying you as a woman should have more worth and achievement. You seem to tie your entire existence to your coochie and see it as the all in all.No offence, but if I was a guy, I wouldn't date you. Not because you are not date-able, but because you are so self-righteous and proud and see yourself as above men.

And I feel that you might be a wonderful person but this your attitude will just put me off. Like I said earlier, if you wanna have sex, fine. If you don't its also fine. Its a personal decision that everyone should stick with so long as you are comfortable. But biko don't go all insultive about it.

I was a virgin myself until two years back( and I'm in my late 'ties) and yes, like you I was self-righteous too and thought I was a gift wrapped up in blue ribbons worthy of only the best men I offered nothing else in the relationship.

So babe wisen up. By all means, hold unto your virginity if that's your decision. But also have something else to offer. Tone down on this your virginity obsession. There's more to life than virginity and sex
Just had to quote you. Succinctly put

EducationRe: OAU Slashes Tuition by rman: 10:14am On Aug 22, 2014
Please stop going back and forth with that dude, he lacks depth.
bushdoc9919: Absolutely not....we need something in the region of N500million (my personal estimate) per university per annumn to make sure they are just world class.

Part of the cash could come from government....the rest could come from students.

Yes....Goodluck and co went to school free....back when the number of students nationwide was less than 90000. Now it is approx 1.5 million and rising.

Here is a proposal on how increased fees can be managed written in 2012....

Tuition Fees:

Based on fees charged by private universities in Nigeria I have set a base amount that should enable universities to provide good enough lecture theatres, hostel accommodation, restaurants and canteens, road and transport infrastructure, examination halls and acceptable research and computer facilities to be an average of N300,000 per student per year. Universities should be given the freedom to set their fees up to a maximum of N300,000 per student.

For ease of calculation I will work with a number of 1,000,000 Nigerian undergraduate students. If each student pays N300,000, the total cost to educate our current undergraduates per year will be N300 billion per year. For a country where fuel subsidy payments skyrocketed from less than N300billion to N1.3trillion naira per year in 2 years with no explanation, a country where one individual steals N2 billion naira of government funds and is allowed to walk free, I believe we can afford to spend N300,000 billion per year on educating our youth.

To fund the schools at a rate of N300,000 per student the government should make the funds available to each student in 3 different ways:

Interest Free Loans – Each student that has gotten an admission can apply for a loan to cover tuition fees from government. For an average 4 year course each student that receives a loan will have a total debt of N1.2 million on graduation.
Individual Payments – If your parents can afford the fees or if you can afford the fees yourself and want to avoid piling up debts then you can choose to pay your fees yourself like many are already doing in private universities. With the promise of better education in public schools many Nigerian parents will actually be ready to pay these fees. Our public universities currently have the ability to be better than most of the private universities that we have if they are well funded.
Grants and Scholarships – Students with exceptional skills such as academic or sporting skills can be granted scholarships by private institutions, government, NGOs and the universities themselves. To qualify for the scholarships there must be set benchmarks that you must meet and surpass.

An improved standard at our universities means we will have more foreigners, especially Africans, applying to study in Nigerian Universities. This can be a huge source of foreign exchange earnings for the country. The universities should be allowed to set the tuition fees for international students as they see fit.

Repayment:

Studies have shown that there is a strong correlation between improved higher education and economic growth. It is therefore safe to assume that better higher education means a better economy and means graduates have more job opportunities after school and also are able to earn more.

While applying for admission into University each student should be given a unique ID. This unique ID will be used after university for getting an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate and also used after NYSC to get a job. On getting a job each employee is naturally set-up with a tax payment number, this is how the loans system should also be set-up and the required repayment should be deducted from salary at source just like taxes are.

When an individual starts to earn above N200,000 per month (total earnings) the student must start to repay the loans by having 10% of salary deducted from source just as taxes are deducted. If we can give 10% of our salaries to pastors to buy private jets monthly it is fair to give that much to pay for a good education.

Paying N20,000 monthly it will take 5 years (60months) to repay a loan of N1.2million. Naturally you would expect the individual’s salary to increase in that period and so monthly repayment also increases which means the repayment period will actually be shorter. This is fair enough in my opinion.

People like you make this country look bad how do u no when someone cheat by age, so even Dike that born & brought up is USA also cheat with press knowing it, plz grow up & stop being ANTI-NIGERIA try & reason well.
The reason you win junior world cups is because you use over age players! One player does not make the team, so your Dike example is inconsequential.

Using over age players means you gain unfair advantage, it is a hollow achievement you are celebrating. You are the real enemy of the state because your willing to cut corners to satisfy your selfish short lived interests. Best of luck Mr

Congratulations!, you are correct. I should have used range instead of average. However, stop been childish, if not for sentiments that has beclouded your sense of reasoning, you won't be blabbing up and down against the reality of what Nigeria football is all about at age grade competition. I can bet a million dollars that this all conquering U20 female team won't smell semi finals of the women world cup in future. Going by logic, they should. The only emotional and sentimental being here is you.

ubest1: My brother know this why Africa progresses in u17 & not in national team. firstly u17 are based on natural skill & talent which Africa can compete with their age grade but when they grow up, white man politic come in like working permit, under age contract etc why their mate then in Europe playing in feeders team then will be promoted to main team like Barca, manu, man city, arsenal, Milan etc giving them opportunity to play with big boys & gain confident why the Africa young player will be struggling for greener pasture why their age is running out eg. Kelechi Ihianacho as good as is he, he cannot play in England now why is mate like (the Man-u player that wore no 11) is already playing gaining experience, exposure so why will you then compare both them in future is not possible.
The average Nigerian is dumb I swear!

You blame the white man for not allowing you to play in his own league, you blame them for setting the rules and standard to favour their youths.

Last time I checked, we have a league here. Why can't our players develop here? You cripple your own because of mediocre leaders in all aspects of everything u do. You celebrate mediocrity, you cheat at age grade competition then blame the white man for his own excellence.

Typical Nigerian!

princefunmi: Wrong!

The Senior guys have arrived already. They have nothing to prove. The Junior ones want to arrive too so they display their talents.

I doubt there are age cheats in the female soccer team. It will show. Besides the likes of Perpetua Nkwocha, Mercy Akide, Stella Mbachu, Cynthia Uwak, Patience Dede couldnt have been age cheats and still last that long. For your info Nkwocha has been to all world cups since its inception and has won more than 5 African titles. She couldnt have if she was a cheat.

Learn to celebrate your own instead of tearing down. You can't even do half of what they do. You are just a hater.

And by the way, the average age of the German team is 26.3. Get your facts right before running your mouth
See Nigerian mentality, senior players have nothing to prove. How about winning the senior world cup? That's something that is worth going after
Why do we then complain when they don't play well? Since you all have given them the get away card of nothing to prove.

FYI, u lack proper understanding of my post. I wrote 20+, u countered with 26+, what's the difference? Let me educate u 20+ means between age 20 to 29.

Don't be ''tayad'' of my comment because we all need to celebrate legit age grade victories, until then, you will continue to get honest response from people like me when next you wonder why the senior national teams don't bring the same level of excitement when they play.

This not about bad belle or bitter life but the truth.

We have won the under 17 world cup 4 times, more than any other country, Brazil thrice, Ghana and Mexico twice.

Out of all these countries that have won it more than once, only Brazil has won the senior world cup twice since U17 started. All the others have not even made the semi finals.

Guess what; Germany, Spain, Holland and Italy has never won the U17 world cup but it is only Holland that has not won the senior world cup since 1995. Holland has played in the finals and semis once.

So what happened to this dominant Junior national teams that is not transferable to the seniors? How come Saudi Arabia has won under 17 world but have struggled to qualify or even record victories at senior level?

QUITE SIMPLE BRO, AGE CHEAT!!!

No other nation has produced or recorded the number of stars at junior level that is not transferable beyond that level like Nigeria and Ghana.

@OP,these girls displayed the unity of Nigeria I grew up to know after the match. They prayed together respecting the belief of everyone not the trash going on within Nigeria.

Korea had the possession and we did the scoring.

Hope these girls will keep the desire burning till we lift the world cup.

Why is our junior teams always full of energy and performance?
@Bold,

Because our junior team should really be the senior if we are being sincere. By the time we push them to senior level, they are already too old and slow. The average age of the German team that won the world cup in Brasil is 20+

Engineering, Medicine and Science graduates will always be able to step into commercial carreer line after university education because majority of commercial courses can be read and passed with a little application of logic. Fortunately, logical reasoning with critical analysis is the bedrock of all engineering and science related courses.

Do you know why commercial students can not come into medicine or engineering careers after graduation? The fundamentals required for those starts from SS1 in secondary school. What commercial students learn about their courses in secondary can be understood by any smart individual in few weeks. That is why science and engineering graduates can read them up and pass these professional accounting exams.

CastleandGreen: God punish you for posting this article, if you like don't come out when we come to your zone. We in Niger Delta we are saying GEJ till 2019, anything less than this will lead to anarchy and disintegration of this failed marriage called one Nigeria.
A few things are wrong with your comment and logic:

You can't force people to like your subject, there will aways be freedom of choice and difference in opinion an choice. That's life, we all can't like the same thing.

If we all agreed that democracy and free and fair elections brought GEJ to power, we should be matured enough to accept defeat if the results didn't favour him in another free and fair election..

Sometimes, in our bid to prove born to rule is not fair we sound exactly like the same born to rule we castigate. Saying the country will disintegrate if GEJ is not re-elected is actually a "born to rule" statement.

TAN's strategy is to showcase the positives of GEJ's administration in preparation for GEJ 2015 ambition, forcing it down people's throat will have the reverse effect of what TAN aim to achieve.

If indeed you have the power and resources to disintegrate Nigeria, or you know a group that does, the best time to do it is now, do not wait for an election, because if GEJ should seek re-election through voting, you should be ready to accept defeat if it comes. But if only one result is the only acceptable result, then why vote? Why go through the pretentious process?

If you are indeed a TAN ambassador, you need to borrow a leaf from sincerenigerian.

FamilyRe: Is It Wrong For A Girl To Stay Alone? by rman:
It is now glaring the reason majority of adults still stay with thier parents in this clime going by the comments on this thread.

If after university education you still need parental control before doing or knowing what is right and wrong, then something is seriously wrong with you. All those that attributed a lady staying alone automatically means she will be sexualy out of control because of the freedom are so shallow. Men that attribute such status as not proper are so myopic too.

By the age of 20yrs, you should be living alone or making plans to, both male and female. It is key to transition from dependent adult to an independent one. In fact, after NYSC, if you are a graduate, you have no business staying with your parents. Some may ask, how will you survive? Exactly, you need that trying period to prepare you for the ups and down that life will throw at you later.
I'm not saying severe all ties to your parents, no. But needing them in your adult life because of your financial status, or because you are unemployed etc is a no no. Talk or visit when your situation is critical but learn to be on your own as an adult.

Male or female, none of my kids will remain under my roof after university education. If they are late bloomers, 23yrs max, I throw them out.

I even consider it a basic requirement before getting married. No wonder some of the young married ones call mummy and daddy for all basic decision even after marriage.
