deathwing: Ignore your parents for a bit. I grew up like this, and the instant I moved out, I nearly stopped speaking to them. Now they beg me to come visit at my own time. My younger sister would have been like you, but she has more mind, got a good job and now finds different excuses to not visit because they nearly babied her to death. They'll keep us inside and it's not like they'd even give us money. It's been months she last saw them. I have no regrets, what you sow is what you reap. They oveeprotected us for the first two decades of our lives, it's now time for us to show our independence for another two decades.
Do yourself a favour and break out and become independent on your terms before they baby you to depression and eternal singlehoodor a bad marriage. You should have done this at 28 sef. Take your life back!
Please not saying you should break contact with your parents o. Naturally, I don't miss people or have a compulsion to visit people, so it's natural for me to not call or visit my parents. I don't even have more than one friend I have ever visited because I like my privacy and peace too much. If I were the lovey dovey romantic time, I'd be visiting them more, but im not and they know this. You perfectly described me in your last paragraph. We share exactly the same personality type |

Politics › Re: "Why Does Fulani Always Have To Rule Nigeria?" - Femi Fani-Kayode Asks by rman: 2:34pm On Feb 09, 2018 |
QuotaSystem: In fact apart from Shagari, Buhari (twice) & Yar'adua - no other Fulani has ruled this country.
Similarly we can mention Obasanjo (twice) and Shonekan as pure Yorubas who have ruled this country.
Just like we have had Azikiwe and Ironsi for the Ibos.
This just goes to prove that the premise behind this thread is patently false and FFK is a certified nutjob.. Thank you. I am not even counting people but number of years spent. For example, Obasanjo (Yoruba) has spent more years than Buhari and Yaradua (Fulani men) combined. Gowon (Tiv or so) spent 9 years, IBB (Hausa) 8 and these are not Fulani men. Buhari, if he completes this term must have spent 6 years as president ever, same as GEJ. If we break it down into tribes, Fulani and Yoruba may have spent equal number of years as president since independence but for some strange reasons, people like FKK, for selfish reasons with the assumptions that Nigerians do not think want to skew the narrative. What is the uproar about Fulani ruling all the time when it is factually not true. |

U can do the math urself am done helping u You are not helping, you are only not sure of what you will find out. It is better not to discuss facts because it may not suit the narrative that Fulani's are the only ones ruling when Yoruba's may have had almost equal opportunity with the Fulani's as president based on number of years spent collectively since independence as a tribe. |

Politics › Re: "Why Does Fulani Always Have To Rule Nigeria?" - Femi Fani-Kayode Asks by rman: 10:54am On Feb 09, 2018 |
How many Fulani's have ruled Nigeria since independence?
I need to know.
Because I know since 1999, they have only ruled for 6 years, if we add Yaradua's 2 to Buhari's 4 |

I am quite exasperated. To be an ingrate, don’t you have to have refused to show gratitude for something?
What have you done for me that I failed to be grateful for oga?
I don’t expect help from people, in whatever I do, I hope on no one. I plan my life based on me alone.
My family is one where everyone is self sufficient, when we come together to do anything, it is not out of obligation. We do it because we want to.
Emancipate yourself and your generation from mental poverty. Don’t be such a dunce! God bless you! You are a reasonable person and they will never understand your valid points because it is beyond their reasoning capabilities |

Rubbiish: Oga shut up!!! Stop trying so hard to justify evil People quoted that guy because he included parents Your parents took care of u when were young, it is your duty to take care of them when they get old...Neglecting one's parent at old age is sheer wickedness, it has nothing to do with entitlement mentality, It only shows what your heart is made of. No man with a good heart will neglect his parents at old age... There are certain things we should do for our parents, they are not even debateable...
You can as well choose not to bury your parents...Ingrate!!! Did I insult you or owe you anything? I am not in your league so won't go that route with you. How in your shallow mind your were able to deduce I am not nice to my parents is a reflection of your very low reasoning ability. You are just a typical example of those I am talking about. Anger issues, sense of entitlement etc! Rubbish!! |

Reasonabledoubt: Hmmmn...Where do I start from to answer all these quotes? But then again, the message will be missed by keyboard warriors.
Dear all,
Please don’t plan for your retirement o, don’t prepare for when you are unable to work.
Go and born plenty children, suffer and train them, obviously because you can not afford them in the first place.
Then leave the responsibility for your first/richest child to shoulder.
Then when they don’t meet up, emotionally blackmail them and remind them of how many times you sat in the sun an rain, just so you can feed them
Don’t hustle for yourself o, keep your eyes in your richer siblings wealth, and be wondering what he/she does with her money.
Carry nuclear and extended family wahala till you’re old, struggle to train these kids, that you made a selfish decision to have, then pass on the circle of poverty to the next generation.
Nigerians, and their inability to have a rational conversation, without bringing religion, emotions, and insult into the mix. Like I said, when you decide to procreate, it is your absolute responsibility to cater for that child.
It is not a privilege, it is your WORK. Those parents that don’t do this, are irresponsible people. Let this recycling of poverty stop with our generation.
@Poster face your life, and stop coveting what is not your own, if you were busy, you won’t have the time to notice how many expensive places he goes to. Face your life. You are not his banker. I agree with you 100% You are too logical, that is why a lot of posters disagreed with you. In these climes, the emotional blackmail especially from family and friends why they think you are rich is sometimes ridiculous. Nigerians sure do have entitlement mentality. We plan our lives way out of what our resources can cater for and expect someone else to carry the burden just because we feel or assumed they have a financial breakthrough. It is important to help those in need but what Nigerians subtly ask for when they claim support friend and relative is basically putting the burden of a life style e.g school fees, weddings, burials, even properties, on another persons resources sometimes 100% |
