We should learn to say the truth and give kudos to those that deserve it irrespective of political affiliation, religion or tribe. I know the American programmer that did the opon IMO stuffs in Osun, I have seen the lab and the structure put in place for sustenance. Opon IMO is a noble idea and the team that delivered for Osun are currently working with OYO state government, OYO will soon launch theirs too. In fact, they got offers from almost 7 state governors immediately it was launched. Aljazeera was there at their lab. Smart unemployed graduates should see an opportunity in this. Sell this to your state if it hasn't been done. E-learning is the way to go and Osun has taken the lead. |
What's wrong with grown up men trying to seek attention on public forums? Less than a week we have had two threads on men bathing a baby and changing diapers on FP. It is nice to be able to change your babies diapers, but it is not an achievement. You all need some growing up to do. |
inikamoze: How could you all believe that piece of lame report??The idea is to get something for nothing, which makes it a scam! You were right about the situation in the country but no matter how good the economic is, there will still be greedy people, lazy people, scammers and poor people. |
I still don't understand why ladies bleach their skin. Terrible examples can be found everywhere but they still won't stop. Bleachers look so terrible as they grow older. |
Some posters are still getting it wrong. No one is saying unemployed graduates should not come together, the big question is: WHY ARE WE COMING TOGETHER? WHAT ARE THE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF NAUG? I repeat, we can all blame the government, politicians, society or our immediate environment but the onus is on each individual to make a success of their life. Yes, the Nigerian situation is not favorable but I repeat there is still a lot to be done. My earlier post is just one or two examples, hundreds abound around us. Service delivery is still very poor in Nigeria, graduates from various disciplines are supposed to come in and run things better. Some of the things this association can ask for may inlcude: 1) The need for absolute transparency in recruitment processes in Nigeria. Both government and private organizations. That way, the unemployed will know those that got the few available jobs are better qualified not these connection mantra everyone now believes in. A few organizations are still transparent though. 2) Banks should be compelled to give loans at no interest rate to graduates with workable business plan or ideas with a flexible repayment plan. 3) The need for the University curriculum to be tailored towards what the society needs. Yes, we are graduates already but one major problem is company's still retrain in most cases and that's why most people don't even know how to improve upon what is being done. Because we don't even know what we are doing. 4)Also, we can ask for the government to compel professionals in areas where we are interested in developing a career to provided mentoring for those that have shown enough fundamental knowledge in areas where they have secured their degree. These and many more can be part of the objectives. But, if you have all gathered to seek sympathy or ask for jobs just because you are graduates, it is a very wrong idea and the association will end up being used for political reasons. Best of luck to those that understand where I'm coming from |
This happened because Neymar choose Barca over Madrid. Madrid doesn't like going after a player and losing out to other clubs especially Barca. So, once in a while, they sign a player for an outrageous fee to make a statement that they are still the club of choice. Bale will definitely improve Madrid, is he worth 90million pounds? I don't think so. |
The problem with Nigerians is we think having certificates should guarantee at least a level of success in life. This is only true if you open your mind to the opportunities around you and you can add value or create something of value. Unfortunately, all the young lads that made new money in the last 25yrs are not graduates. Bill Gates, Zuckerberg etc are not graduates, they created something of value and the rest became history. But we have been so programmed to throw certificates at everything. Another issue is some graduates can not really add value because what they studied is not really what the immediate society needs, so they become disappointed after school, when the easy life expected by acquiring a certificate becomes a mirage. What I can infer from this association is young unemployed graduates that feels society owes them jobs because they are graduates, unfortunately, it does not work that way. Come together to share ideas, poll resources together with your counterparts in similar fields that you come across by being a member, but if it is to gather CV's with the hope of securing jobs, I'm sorry it is a bad idea. The agric graduate example the OP gave is a good example. Has this young graduate considered relocating to a LG in OYO and start small there? He/she can now bring the produce to Lagos, create better packaging and use his connections to create a niche of customers. The truth of the matter is entry level jobs are no longer available or they are very few to come by. But, there is still so much to be done that graduates should not complain of lack of something to do. Yes, we can not all be entrepreneurs, but look critically around there is something to be done or improved upon. As a young unemployed graduate a few years back, I was making up to 80,000 a month by being a basketball instructor to kids in private schools. A friend and I approached these schools in Ikeja and we gave the school principals our proposal. I played basketball in school and I know most of the game masters understand the fundamentals of only soccer and maybe volleyball. We were not employed but allowed to come in four times in a week and teach the kids. We had 40kids per class and four classes and we charged 3000 Naira per kid. The beauty of it all, each class is just for an hour 2pm to 3pm. So I have time to search for work and still be a part time instructor. I know a law graduate that makes at least 150k a month doing makeup on weekends . I recently told her to build on that instead of bombarding people with she needs a job. I will wrap it up by saying if truly you have something of value to add to an organisation, it is just a matter of time, that job will find you. |
chyk91: @ everybody attributing this defeat to fatigue, i beg to disagree, in the 1st quarter we played well and didn't show any sign of fatigue. our main problem in the game was we could not counter their zone defence, also our 3 pointers were poor, we also didn't defend well against their 3 pointers. simply put, they found a way to counter us tactically. still sad about the defeat.Thank you. You understand basketball. We simply don't know how to attack a zone defence and we also defend the perimeter terribly. Senegal figured that out and we are out. |
Sincere 9gerian: My prayer is even that the crude oil should dry up so that EVERYONE will go and rest. Why all these alarm and cries about crude oil? Its possible the people in the Niger Delta, whose environment have been dilapidated by oil exploration, are earning their daily bread by harvesting crude oil in their backyards. Until we make the oil bearing communities have bigger stake in the oil exploration on their ancestral land, they will continue to harvest their God given resources. What you call crude oil theft is what some others call harvest of God given resources. The oil bearing communities needs to have far bigger stake in this oil legally. That will make them protect the oil facilities.Common dude, you are losing it. It is better not to comment than to try and justify criminality. Yes, we understand you work for GEJ but you should be wise enough to avoid causing more damage to his image by such a comment above. All government has their strong points and weak ones, and honestly GEJ's government has not really dealt with corruption appropriately. |
ortopazz: bros so I noticed o! . .A certain player was interviewed in the paperz b4 the tournament began and he actualy said the team wasnt properly prepped, and some players. .werent suppose to be there, stating that some playery just embraced Nigeria cos they had no choice and d coach wil pik em. . That was y he pulled and oda guys. . . .well we did well sha. .We did not do well. Getting one of the tickets to the world cup is doing well. Ejike Ugboaja is the player that granted that interview |
The better coached team won. I am highly disappointed that we don't have a strategy against a zone defence at this level. Senegal figured that out and now we are out. |
I knew we are going to struggle against a well structured zone defense, We need to moved the ball quickly and make the open looks, otherwise we are in for a very long night. |

Sunatai, just like Yaradua. Nigeria is a huge joke! |
hisswagness: Y wil u b impressed wen u can't evn play? Jst kip mute n enjoy d game broHe is actually analysing our team. A very good defensive team on the boards with great shooters will give us massive problems. We are leading purely based on size, athleticism and experience. Tactically, we have not shown superior play. |
The problem with this team is on the perimeter. We are so weak on both perimeter offence and defence. Our opponents penetrates our defence easily and we give away too many open looks on three point shot. The main reason we lost to the USA at the Olympics with a wide margin is due to the above reasons and our seems not to have corrected it. |
Afam4eva: Pls, is Udoka still in this team?Imeh Udoka is now part of the San Antonio Spurs coaching crew, therefore he is not part of the Tigers squad. |
PapaBrowne: I have only one thing for you and it is called facts. Most People in SW migrate to Lagos. This may have a significant effect why the local travel is low. A deeper analysis may reveal a higher percentage of the traffic is even towards Abuja and PH |
The same people that voted for an untested candidate a few years ago are now asking for evidence of service delivery from APC. I am glad we now want candidates that have a track record for performance, how I wish this same parameter was considered when we voted in GEJ. |
Nice thread. We must qualify for the world championship next year Go Tigers! We play Congo tomorrow at 6:30pm Nigerian time |
Yes, there are no pictures attached but I can boldly say, all the that was said in the article is the truth. There is road construction everywhere you go and Osogbo is indeed changing rapidly. The bypass being talked about will decongest olaiya and okefia. People coming from Ota efun, DADA estate, hallelujah estate and even ilesha garage can link the state secretariat without passing through olaiya. Sometimes, I wonder if all these roads and construction won't end up as abandoned projects but every time I return, there is progress. Some are even completed. Oroki estate is also dualised road running through it. Roads are not the only thing this man has touched. Let the truth be told, Aregbe has really done well |
Why are we so easy to please? During OBJ era that some GEJ Supporters are quick to point to, the same political jobbers praised him for awarding the contacts without any meaningful result until he left. By 2015, if the current administration can not deliver uninterrupted power supply too, they we referred to as failures too. No matter how good the intentions are or the process/steps taken, if there is no power 24/7, by 2015, this administration have failed too |
Muslims and Christians preach religious tolerance. If you have a problem with this, you are not different from BH. Live and let others live. |
Lagos to Burkina Faso. The route was: Lagos >>>> Zaria >>>> Sokoto >>>> Niamey ( Niger) >>>> Ougadugu ( Burkina Faso) It took us close to 48hrs because with stopped in all the major cities. It was with a couple of friends ( undergraduate days) A very interesting road trip. Where has this adventurous side of me gone? ![]() |
legalcode: God Bless You GEJ.....despite the fact that the rot in the university was caused by OBJ and YAR ARDU, You still have a listening ear. The best President ever.Who are these praise singers that are all over nairaland these days? |
What will be the aim and objectives? Being unemployed isn't the problem with most unemployed graduates, limiting themselves by seeking only paid employment is the problem. There is so much to be done in our immediate environment that no one with a university education should be unemployed. And yes, if you think something is been done already, repackage it with better service delivery. Come together to share ideas but not to seek sympathy. |
Have you all tried restart or a re-scan? DSTV had similar issues this week and a re-scan fixed it |
Superbrain: You're a joker. A big one...Your mind is made up. You hate MTN, so u can not judge them objectively anymore. Was there service disruption, YES. Is this a daily occurrence? No. Do other operators have service disruptions like this due to the operating environment? YES Do people deserve explanation and compensation? YES. Explanation has been given ( fibre cut) , compensation may come in form of extending your subscription to make up of for the hours lost. And, if was not as if calls and sms were not going, even there Internet modem worked, only BlackBerry Internet services was affected. It is not the end of the world, don't be angry at nothing. |
laplace19: Had it been that am close to you I won't hesitate to give you a dirty slapCan the statement above be from a matured civilised mind? No. Things u probably missed, naiaraland, FB,Twitter and instagram. There was life before mobile phones, 24hrs outage isn't the end of the world. RIM experienced one that cut across the world last year. Fibre cuts are not peculiar to MTN. Get rid of the hatred in you, it does u no good. Cheers |
TechyGuy: You are obviously a paid Etisalat staff.Techguy, Stop replying kids that know nothing about telecoms service quality in Nigeria. This is naiaraland where majority just follow the trend. They all hate MTN because others are saying so. Ask them specifically what MTN has done to them and there is absolutely nothing bad they are experiencing with MTN that is unique to MTN. Others have issues too. QoS report conducted by NCC always puts MTN as 1st or 2nd( service quality) in almost all the location across NIGERIA. And these tests are done randomly so no "magomago". They want freebies, MTN gave them freebies. They want promos, MTN had the biggest promo ever. They want cheap tariffs,MTN calls and data tariffs are quite similar to what the others offer. Why the hatred? Because they have been gradually told lies about MTN and DSTV regularly some started believing it. Don't let it get to you. |
triploc: am at a job interview venue am among the next batch to enter, pls wish me luck my dear friends.Be calm, be confident, express yourself clearly and with brevity and the job is yours. Best of luck!!! |
