Honestly. Women have allowed society soooo degrade them, they dont even know who they are anymore. A woman no longer knows she can be a person without a ring on her finger. Our women dont understand that they are individuals and having a 'husband' doesnt make you any better

As far as I am concerned, You like being lied to.  What @posakosa said is more or less the truth, take it or leave it.
Just look at it.  Many ladies can go to any lenght to satisfy their man when they are yet to marry.  Tell them you want them to jump, they jump, they dress to kill, just to make their man happy with them, buy anything for them; they put it on immediately to make you happy, they try all their best to make it all a 50 -50 affair. But 1 or 2 years after marriage they change completely, they want to be seen as a married wife everywhere.  They forget so easily about all they've been doing to make their man happy.
Complain about it, and what  you hear is "I am your wife and I am not a small girl to be doing all that".
Most men wants a little fun sometimes, some adventure, some surprises.
so if they cant get it at home, they tend to look for it outside.  I am not saying it is the right thing to do, but I just want you ladies to know that marriage is not always about you having a ring on your finger.
If you had read my earlier post, you wont be directing this rubbish youre saying at me mr. man
Read before you write!

@posakosa, u re so funny. @ poster, don't worry, the kind of thread is not new. All you need to do is not to get tempted by their lovely presents. they only need a f**king machine and their madams at home don't dress sexy anymore. tell me why dey won't be attracted to a young fresh blood. the married men will continue to chase after good things they see. its not their fault when madam no fit wear g-string, no fit do pole dancing for her husband for their bedroom, na so so chop, chop, gossip, gossip and owambe party their wife go dey go.
So the women should become sluts for their husbands or what?? This is what I mean. Nigerian men are brought up to think their wives are to be glorified housegirls, baby-popping machines and the latest one I heard, sluts!

are they dating them at gun point?
well u sounds a nice fellow by your statement

posakosa:

The problem is not that they bother with marriage its the reason why they choose to:
1. family pressure/they're getting old/they need a cook/some woman pressures them/the WOMEN THEY MARRY DON'T CARE WHAT THEY DO AS LONG AS THEY HAVE "A MAN" AND A manliness TO PLAY WITH AT NIGHT. seriously,
Some of these women know that they are players AND MARRY THEM ANYWAYS.
Well I never thought I'd say this to you, but youre right. Youre sooo right, Im like  shocked

60% of the mothers in our society need to be taken one by one and flogged because when a woman asks God for a child, the only thing HE demands of her is that she be a Mother. Its apalling, the job mothers do nowadays.
They bring up their boys to think women are glorified housewives and bring up their daughters to think their lives are not complete until a ring is sitting on their finger. Whether they marry a useless thief or not doesnt matter. The women just want to tie Asoebi.

@Poster, dont get frustrated. The problem seems to be you. Youre answering them in the first place. You dont know the easiest way to get rid of a man is to ignore him?
His pride wont beable to take it if you ignore him and he'l walk away fast. You, youre going into explanations of how you dont date married men? Pretty naive, cos black men pride themselves on their ability to convince women into dating them. Ignore them and you'l see the way they'l reduce.
Society accepts it because tradition permits polygamy in many cultures, so the only way for you to fight it is in your corner.

As one poster said, the guys probably think you look gulible enough and so they approach you. With time, if you ignore them enough, you'l get this look on your face everytime a married man approaches you that'l tell him straight up, youre not one of those girls.
This is experience talking girl.

Many of our men are useless. They see an innocent looking girl and instead of leaving her as clean as she is, they always seem to want to soil you. So the can tell themselves theyve had it all. Its disgusting.

lol. Theres a reason why youre men and we are women. So may the Lord forbid we ever shop like you, cos if we do, our children wont go to school. Se you want to buy the first yam you see for 350, when if you go inside inside, theres a woman selling sweeter one for 110. The pepper and tomato you buy at the door of the market is on the road .Dust would have settled on it. Inside the marktet, because the women are INSIDE, they sell cheaper. I could go onnnnn.
If we behaved like you, we wont beable to give birth to children, feed them, cloth them (with or without your contribution), and send them to school, cos we'd be buying impatiently instead of making sure we're getting the best bargain

kech:

Ok I wasn't going to reply to this but, are you for real? Come on now, this statement is definitely delusional. You need to look up the stats of university entrants and graduates in Nigeria. I think the problem is the Igbos have as many successful graduates as there are successful "illiterates" like many will like to call them. In other words, the probability that you'll come accross a successful igbo man/woman who is either educated or "illiterate" is almost 50/50.
Note: I'm just speaking for the Igbo tribe, I don't know about others. Also, my comment has nothing to do with the Original post.
Well Im speaking for both the yoruba and ibo tribes. Up until 10yrs ago, the statistics were different. And so when I say 'gradually I see the ibos and hausas thread this education path', I kind of know what Im saying.
The ibo man used to think buying and selling was all he could do and you rarely got to see them at the top. There were very few of them.
These days the trend is changing, but yorubas pioneered education in nigeria. That was my point.
And the poster was indeed talking of an ibo man in yoruba land.

@poster,i must commend your efforts in looking for a solution to your girlfriend's challenge. At the same time,i want you to know that you are not doing her any special favour by still sticking to her cos the essence of being in a relationship in the first instance is to help each other especially when either of you has challenges like this one.
Why should he leave his girlfriend? Would you walk around with a man who keeps getting yellow? Its embarassing and no matter how I love him, I'd try to get him help but I'd eventually leave him, cos having a Micheal Jackson next to me everywhere I go is'nt exactly my ambition in life. Call it what you want, skin-lighting is a lot more than rubbing cream on your face. Its deeper than that. It psychological and I think this is a good good man if it disturbs him and instead of leaving her, he decides to stand by her to solve her problem. So YES he IS doing her a great favour. She wont find 1 man in a 100 who will do that. Its rare.

Ms u must be thinking this is 1800 when British arrived in Yoruba land and introduced education. Please don't ever group Igbo and Hausa together again. I no blame u coz u don't know any better but em Igbos have long surpassed Yoruba in education. The whole East don surpass and are rated to be the most educated in Nigeria with highest or only middle class population. Please tell me how on earth are my highly educated ppl now in the same league with some moronic aboki people trailing Yoruba slowly in education? We Igbos n particular and non Igbo of the East are so far ahead u are the one trailing us. Aboki ppl are so far far behind they are the last. Don't forget there is middlebelt.
I wont answer you

babaijo:

can any body tell the nairalanders the reason behind this circumcision of a thing? but as for me i believe they are not just doing it for doing sake but for a reason best known to them.
Since boy babies are more susceptible to diseases (than girl babies), pulling off the skin on a baby boy's Penis (male circumcision) is a way of reducing risk of dirt that might gather there and harm him.

Female circumsition however is practised by ancient-thinking tradtions, which dont believe women have the right to enjoy sex. They believe a woman is simply there to bear children and cook and the pleasure in sex is a right only her husband can enjoy.
They are babarians simple as that!

A lady see's something she likes and wants, but in order to makesure she's getting the best bargain, she goes round the market to ensure that she isnt being ripped-off pricewise or to makesure she doesnt see something she likes even more. lol.Thats the secret to our going round the market and buying nothing
Politics / Re: Only An Igbo Man Can Do This. Seriously by Rosabelle(f): 8:12am On Oct 04, 2009
I completely disagree. That discipline, I believe he learnt from his environment and its who he is.
I have noticed that as irresponsible and loud as the yoruba's are, a yoruba's man's priority in life is to send his children to school by hook or crook, and to makesure whenever there's a celebration to be had, he borrows the right amount of money. Gradually I see the ibos and hausas picking on the education road. Theres nothign special about a man working hard in nigeria to send his children to university. It is everybody'S story.
As for the hard working part, I think the ibos work very hard and with more education and refinement, could contribute a great deal to the direction nigeria is taking.
@Onlytruth, I dont think other Nigerians are the one's to recognise any attributes the Ibo's have. I think the Ibo's owe it to themselves first and foremost to clear up their own house before anything can be done.

Dude you already know the answer to your question. Besides why did you buy her love by giving her money when she asks
there is a saying: never start something you dont want to continue.
Well said.
@Poster: Relationships and money dont go well. If she really likes you and has any self esteem, she wouldnt even ask you for money cos she'l be scared you'd think she was a gold digger. And if YOU really loved her like you said, I dont think you'd be trying to buy her love. You'd makesure she understands youre her boyfriend, not a bank.
Sounds like you might both be using eachother. She's using you for money and youre using her for what? Sex? Companionship?
Its scary how the economy has driven a lot of girls and guys into thinking its alright for a woman to ask a man for money because theyre in a relationship. What happened to self-preservation?

Youre a good guy I must say. Its impressive that youd try to help her.
´Like everyone here has suggested, you guys should go see a dermatologist. No one else can advice you better.
But once a black person goes Micheal Jackson, theres no turning back, cos the pigmentation has been bleached so to speak. So bear in mind she wont ever be black, but getting her help can help her skin recover.
Someone also suggested sunscreen which I'd recomend too, but do nothing without advice from a dermatologist.

On your own, if you get her to listen to you, she should drop makeup completely and change her diet and drink at least 3.5litres of water daily.
Tomato works wonders for the skin. I eat like 2 a day, raw or boiled, but not fried. You'd be shocked at the difference in appearance after just a week.

And at poster: 1. I LOVE big bags cos I love heels and I have a to carry a pair of flats in my bag to makesure when I get tired, I can put on something lower. I also have to carry my 3 phones, mini computer, planner, a bottle (1litre) of water, a novel, school books and light jacket.
2. I spend a lot of time in the bathroom, cos bathing for me is a ceremony, thrice a day, Im not into makeup, and its because Ive got great skin - from bathing
3. As for getting dressed, ususally, the night before, I bring out three outfits for tomorrow, but if I wake up in a different mood than I went to bed with, I have to select another three outfits and take my time whilst bathing to decide where Im going and what fits with my day the best.
4. Im a chronic shopper, but thats because I have four sisters and six nephews. SO I cant choose one day to shop for them all. I do it constantly. Online, at work, at school, on the street if I see a shop display I like, I walk in , look around and decide whether or not to come back.
5. I however hate empty chatter and as a result, apart from my sisters, I have just 3 girlfriends and a street long of guy friends. - but Ive noticed men have basket mouths and talk even more crap than women.

6 Most importantly, Im a wise woman and I never allow a man wait for me, cos you'd just end up leaving the house angry and ugly since he wont be patient enough to wait quietly. So I do the wise thing and meet him there (wherever it is we're headed)!

This barbaric behavior of some, doesnt consitute behavior of the whole of Nigeria.
Things like this happen all over the world. Im sick and tired of some dumbass people always using religion as an excuse to act ingorant, stupid and disgusting.
and the idots who always turn each and everythread into an anti Nigeria topic, instead of simply addressing the real problem.
And so what now? Is that what youre going to tell her parents who struggled to put her through school and celebrated her graduation? Is that what youre going to say to them? That it happens everywhere and so they should take heart? Or are you going to tell them the truth - namely that a bunch of ignorant muslims killed her.
Youre missing the fine, very fine line here.
I am NOT calling it an act of religious babarism., it just HAPPENS to be so. That was their excuse.
I have friends who went to the same maiduguri, and they we'rent killed, but this girl was and its not the first time a christian woman is attacked by MUSLIM IGNORAMUS for her dressing.

The point for me, whether they split nigeria or not, is that if the federal government cannot see to it that those babarians know its one country and act assuch, they should STOP SENDING CHRISTIANS TO THE NORTH for NYSC. Period.
I dont care about the politiking. If we're not safe there, whilst theyre deciding on what to do, they should please send us where we know. If someone wants to go up north for whatever reason, fine. But one shouldnt be forced as is requited by NYSC. They should top it. Thats my protest. All other religious tension doesnt concern me. This is something that can be checkd.

And I know this happens everywhere, but it so happens that in this case, it was a religion-motivated attack.
Period.
Go be objective if this happens to your sister, se you hear. Its easy to be objective and calm when its someone elses child or sister or friend! Rubbish!
Crime / Government To Probe Death Of Female Corps Member Killed In Maiduguri by Rosabelle(f): 9:12pm On Oct 01, 2009
Maharazu Tsiga, the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) on Wednesday, visited corps members serving in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, over the rape and eventual death of a female corps member, Grace Adie Ushang.

The late Ms. Ushang, a native of Cross River State, was raped to death last weekend by men who reportedly took offence because she was wearing her khaki trousers - the official uniform of the corps. Mr. Tsiga, who was in Maiduguri on Wednesday to address the corps members, said the police, detectives and officers of the State Security Service (SSS) are close to tracking down the perpetrators of the act,

http://234next.com/csp/cms/sites/Next/News/5465780-147/story.csp

I am enraged and right now, it is only the wrath of God, which I believe in that holds me back. We have to protest this type of thing.
About a year ago, a young lady was beaten up by aides of a Navy officer on the streets of Lagos. Someone recorded the entire event and public outrage and protest got the Lagos state governor himself involved in the case.

We need a similar response here. If NYSC will send christian women to unstable parts of the country, then some level of security has to be met.
If we are not safe in the north, then NYSC has to stop posting christians there. What is it.

A girl wears trousers and because you think it is against your belief, you punish her by raping and subsequently killing her??
Where in the Quaran is it said that if a womans dressing displeases a man, he should dehumanise and murder her?
I dont understand these northerners anymore. What kind of country do we live in?

Are we the only country where muslims and christians live?
And all those useless northern leaders, I havnt heard any of them condem this act. As usual, they say nothing. Are we to believe they think it is in order? What kind of society or values do they profess? What kind of values do they bring up their children with?

Yes I know there is crime everywhere and it doesnt necessarily have to be named a religious one, but we all know it is. These people are mad.

And that useless NYSC DG, if this happened to his daughter, the babarians would be in prison by now, so he had better makesure they find them.

I think the show achieved its aim by the end of season 2 and I personally got bored by season 3 in Sona. So Im happy it ended with season four, cos otherwise, it would have dragged. They had to tie it up, which on the other hand, I think is what made the ovation so loud. They knew when to put an end to it.
Culture / Re: Cirmcumcised Vs Uncircumcised by Rosabelle(f): 11:24pm On Sep 30, 2009
Yep. That was the whole idea of girl-circumcision. An old and babaric custom still carried out in many places in africa plus nigeria (but not so rampant).
The idea is to deaden a young girls sexual urge so that she doesnt go straying (before or after marriage) to other men for sex.
A very selfish idea, as, at the end of the day, only her eventual husband has any pleasure during sex. She doesnt at all.

The opposite has been achieved, cos it does deaden a girls sexual urge, but it has proven to drive a lot of girls into being wayward, cos they never feel anythign during sex, and as a result, keep searching for this from different men.
Many of them dont understand why the hype about sex is since they feel nothign when they have it, and so they are driven to try again and again in the hope of finding out. For a major part, this has contributed to AIDS is africa.
