This is the standard you see in almost all western nations, the system is setup to make sure citizens and residents are well catered for, I have alot to say in this regard but I will save it for another day, you don't need to go far, Togo, Benin Republic, Mali, Gambia, Senegal, Ghana all have efficient and effective power systems, they are smaller countries though but I believe any government or system that fails to provide the basic necessities and infrastructures for its citizens, has no business been in power

you don't even need to talk much, currently i'm running a programme in Benin republic, i was amazed the first time i came to Cotonou, from the border to the main cotonou nothing like pot hole on the road, stable light, water nko. each houses in Benin has it water meter and connections, every thing is just organised here, i always had this Believe that if not Naija.. it ain't no nation oo.. Menn i don't even stress myself here, i can wake up 7:30am n get to my destination early..

Today Pamela O trended regarding her advice for Nigerians aspiring to migrate to Canada. Fact of the matter is that all she said is correct. I am aspiring to move to Canada this year,i have already been offered admission to study Biotechnology but I think I will go for Social services worker as their field placement count as Job experience. Since I got the admission I have beening joining all kinds of Canadian groups both on FB and other platforms to ask the natives questions regarding their country and here is a few of what I gathered.

Pros:
1)Canada has one of the best school system in the world and money can never be a problem for you not attending school once your a citizen or your with your PR as Govt will give you Education grants.

2) Canadian health care is free, you don't pay any hospital fee when seeing a doctor and the drugs you get from the pharmacy are heavily subsidies by the government compare that to USA you will love Canada more.

3) Education is heavily subsidies in Canada that all basic school (primary and secondary) in government owned schools are free,so one can give his children a quality education without breaking the bank.

4)FOOD: food is cheap there if you want to cook it yourself, for a family of two or four 300CAD if managed well will be enough to buy foodstuffs for the house.

CONS

1) Canadian inter- Provence transportation is nothing to write home about both Land and air(due to how big their land mass is it's costly to travel within Canada than you do going to another country) many Canadians don't visit other places in Canada because of it.

2) TAX: in Canada income tax is between 25-42% depending on how you earn, big cheque comes with 42% income Tax and other deductions.

3)RENT: Rent in Canada can take your whole monthly pay if your not careful, a self contain apartment in a basement cost 800CAD in the village or not so well developed areas to 1800CAD in the city,in some cities that is for the elite it can cost $2300CAD excluding the rental tax.

4) WORK EXPERIENCE: none of your previous work experience will count for you once you get it outside canada(wih exception of USA and some of the A List countries). If you like be a medical consultant in Nigeria with a load of documents to show for it it will not count, you must start at the entry level and work your way up, A Canadian diploma or college degree will turn your employers on. Don't think that your Nigerian degree means anything to them(i also have a degree in Physics Electronics) it does not and your best bet is to go for a college graduate certificate which will take you a year or less.

Hello guys,

I travelled out of the country to Boston for a course about a year ago. As a smart guy, i discharged all my Naija female packages and ventured into the 'New world' a free man. However, to cut the long story short, i met a lady of Jamaican descent that i fell in love with. It was love at first sight, and we supposedly bonded. She invited me to her church, introduced him to her family, and even suggested they get married weeks after meeting, supposedly to make us to be together without sin. As a Naija guy in a Trump infected society, i gladly agreed. To me, this was too good to be true, and i felt on top of the world. However, like they say, if its too good to be true, it probably isn't. The first signs that something was wrong was when i realised her mother requested for a ring of high value to give her. The ring i brought was, according to the girls mother, not of quality value, and enquired how i got it.Na so the girl just start to de para for me o.. Back to back nagging... i venture into an expensive ring.And this was the first red flag. Next, girl agreed to still go ahead with the marriage, but started using foul language with me o, which i tried to caution her against using on several occasions. Within this period, the girl got pregnant, and since we were gonna get marriage soon, it didn't matter. However, her behaviour became irritating day by day, always trying to dictate to me o and all. Then it happened one day... We had a big argument and she said she was done. This was a day to our engagement, but she said we were gonna end the relationship. After intervention from the mother and grandmother, she changed her mind.

Overtime, the crazy back and forths continued... She's done, pastor and family come between them and she changes her mind. All the while, i had started doubting her mental stability, and was concerned that her unstable nature could just lead to a divorce anytime, which was bad.. Eventually, we had a terrible argument, where she called the corps on me.. thank God I'm legal with my Student visa!!! she promised to make sure i pay for child support even though we are not married. She also promised to make sure she deports me back, and make my life miserable. Mind u, the girl is in the US Navy and studied Law. This argument was the straw that broke the camels back, i just had to end it,especially with later threats of her killing me. Now, I'm concerned about her threats, and the prospect of paying child support till the baby is 18. What do you advise him to do biko?

I asked for advice and was adviced to marry her... Story continues......

We got married, and she practically turned him to a slave...if i paraventure ask her a question...she will just keep insulting me and my family plus my country for no reason... like you deaf, you going bk to your crazy country... you're a sperm donor.. do as i say you asking questions like a bitch... All this is after doing everything im the house and also wake him up in the middle of the night to prepare food for her... which he did without complaining. The one that break the camel back was when i told her all what i have been doing for you... at least i deserve accolades or thank you.. she grabbed me by the neck and she took her hands off. Then i knew it's finished.... i was subjected to sleep on the bare ground that night... and the next day i was looking at resolving what ever grudges she had on me... i was trying to talk to her.... the next thing she did... was to scream at me to leave her...then she called 911 on me. And they took me out of the house. That was super extreme. Then i knew I'm on my own. I slept on the street in the dark in BOSTON. This time i knew i had to fight back. I reported the physical assault incidence... and now i have been informed that the case is going through hearing this month, however, she's not aware of any court case.

AND THE ANNOYING PART IS THAT SHE REFUSED TO FILE FOR ME!!!


I don't know what to do... i have all the messages where she called me a sperm donor and the rest... i even have hospital records that shows I'm emotionally distressed with the traumatic event.

What should i do.... Matured advice please.

Thank GOD you have some evidence with you, please for safety purpose please back up those court evidence in different mails, usb flash, or any place where it's safe please, i hate to see my fellow guys go through shits from some bitter ladies..

understand how patriotic you are and how you believe staying in Nigeria and setting up your own business with money, becoming a landlord, etc. is better than being abroad, that is fine. It's clear where your priorities lie and what you see as a fulfilled life. To each his own.

Without being condescending, it seems you have absolutely NO idea why people seek greener pastures to developed countries. You converted 8k euros to 4m Naira and because it's in millions, you think it's a fortune? Not everyone wants to be a landlord in Ikorodu, Epe or Sango (No disrespect to people who live there). 

Nigeria is a failed state. Do you know how many death-traps they import into Nigeria as salvaged cars that people drive on the roads? Do you know how many illegal drugs are on the market because the "owners" bribed their way through the agencies supposed to control these? God forbid your daughter goes to a rich man's son's house, gets raped and you want justice. 

Which land can 4m Naira buy? Lol. How many Old people are suffering because there is no system in place for them for life after retirement? That's even if they lived a worthy life before retirement. The state of unhealthy foods in Nigerian restaurants with no regulations in place? The smoke you inhale every day from horrible buses and cars that should never be on the roads!

My God, if we start talking about reasons to leave Nigeria, I'll be 95 before I stop. What business if I may ask can you set up in Nigeria with 4m Naira? (Please don't talk about open a sports betting shop/importing goods from dubai, selling oil, rice, garri and those 16th century business ideas). Do you know how many people have invested and failed, with customers owing them all over? You can't even track a customer down, sue to court to get your money back, etc. 

You shouldn't compare a working system to a non-existent system. I'd choose life here in the U.S with NO savings but a roof over my head in a rented apartment, my kids in school, food on my table, etc., over living in even Lekki as a landlord and being at the mercy of a failed country and leaders. 

Good lord, educate yourself! Do you know it's illegal for your kids to not go to school? The average American kid goes to school!!! Can read AND write. You constantly have to prove you're fit to be a parent else you lose custody of your kids. How many kids are in Makoko, suffering and have no idea what the future holds? 

Don't get me started. "People are overseas for 20 years but don't have even a room here" . How is this a yardstick to measure a fulfilled life? Some people in Nigeria have never even seen a dishwasher/washer/drier before. Many think using them is "Lazy", haha... basic things that make life easy. I'll just leave you to your mindset.

Again, your reasons for deciding to stay is best known to you. Don't let blind patriotism cloud your good judgment. 

Finally, you have absolutely no clue how WORTHLESS the Nigerian passport is. As they always say, a good name is better than gold and silver. Get into a fight with any Foreigner (American/European for example) in that Nigeria of yours and let your police judge the matter. You'll know how useless the country is. (Copied)
