There are people being issued investor visas (including Nigerians) and no, their land hasn't finished. grin

they've even just increased it to £2m and tied settlement to 3years after investing £5m.

It used to be £1m a few years back and then settlement after creating about 10 new jobs or so.

See you, some dey pick bottle to survive. Some go round to clean while some go round to beg. I have a 14 year old in my house as I type. He stopped me on the road begging for money and I asked him what he wanted money for, he said to eat. I was too afraid to give him my money so I took him to a road side canteen not too far from where I was having meeting. I told the food vendor to give him food whatever he wants and I paid. Still I was disturbed in my spirit. I didn't like the way he's looking so tattard and dirty. I questioned him while he was eating. I asked for his parents, he said his mom is late and his dad is in Ibadan. He ran away from his village because his step mom was maltreating him bla bla bla. I asked him where he lives, he said he sleeps in a bus. He waits for the bus driver to return from work at night and then he sleeps. So I asked him if he gets a job, will he work? He said yes. After his food, I told a guy in my church to go to where the boy says he sleeps at night to meet the bus driver for confirmation. Also the boy has his father and maternal uncle number which I collected. The bus driver confirmed that the boy do sleep in his bus at night and he was only using that to help him. I spoke to the bus driver. I called the boy Father, he said he was tired of the boy. He was sent to Islamic school, he refused to learn. He was asked to learn a hand work, he won't stay. So they got tired of him and don't care how he lives his life. I spoke to his maternal uncle, he said the boy mother is late and he is a poor man, he can't cater for the boy.
Anyway I took the boy home to our family house. Got him soap, sponge, towel to clean up, ask a boy in the compound to take him to the barber to cut his hair. Took one of my brothers clothes and gave to him.I took his before and after photos. I cleaned him up so my family members won't be scared of him or his looks rather. To cut the long story short, he is with us now. I took him to a government school, paid for his name to come out or what is it called, but considering where he was coming from and wouldn't want him to be polluted again, I took him to a private school not above my budget for him.

Now do you know if this boy had stayed too long on the street, even a day longer, he could fall into the hands of bad boys who will recruit, welcome him to Lagos and train him for their evil assignment.
That was all what I thought of that made me take the big risk of housing a total stranger. I didn't want him to fall into the wrong hands and even if he had, I was ready to get him rehabilitated.
And oh I went to the orphanage home but I was told they don't admit anyhow bla bla bla and someone will be going to Ibadan soon to know his father house.

That little boy up there could be a victim.
Street kids who grew up becoming somebody can relate to the story up.
It's very possible my dear...
May the God continue to bless you for your selflessness.

Of course- if there’s ever any wrong deductions that would be paid back- the issue is how they will ascertain that the deduction is wrong, when they did not put blackbox in my bag to be following me around grin
Just pray you never ever have an inquiry, even how much you are left to feed with will be assessed. receipts will be picked at random and you will be asked to explain the journey and how it relates to business. If its a client then you will have to show the invoice or where you billed the client. they will pull out an audit trail from where you visited the client - invoice- payment received and how you accounted for it in your returns. Then all the non business expenses will be put back plus interest and you will be billed. you can always appeal.

We once had a client who used a helicopter to pick up his son from a private school in Kent and he put it throught the books, the IR threw it out but he appealed and won. He was going to see a client and stopped over to pick his son. he was one of our craziest clients.

Hey, Guys
I’m traveling to Naija for Christmas and I’II be making a stopover in London & Abu Dhabi respectively.
I’II be spending two days in London & Three days in Abu Dhabi.
My very first time of visiting London.
I’II be staying at the Renaissance London Heathrow Hotel very close to the Heathrow Airport.

My Questions are:

(A) What are the most exciting places to visit for a first timer in London?

(B) If you only had 48 hours to spend in London where would you visit first?

(C) Should I exchange some Dollars to Pounds at my Local Bank of America OR would I get a better
exchange rate at the foreign currency exchange kiosks at the Airport?

(D) Does riding the London Tube seem complicated?
I would also need a bit of advice regarding riding the Tube as I wouldn’t love to get lost.
For comparison I have lived in New York City & New Jersey and have used the Subway extensively.

If you really want to enjoy London Like some just said, purchase your day travel card, wrap up warm, go on the underground, For Buckingham palace come off at green park station, there are other places you can visit without purchasing entry tickets like the museum, Trafalgar square, Kensington gardens, Piccadilly circus, Oxford circus, London bridge, houses of parliament. Those places that require entry fees are Madame Tussauds, tour bus guide, some scary dungeon place close to London bridge, London eye, the shard building etc Hope you have a lovely trip Good luck.

I used quickbooks briefly while I worked at the finance company and I found it relatively easy in carrying out my responsibilities then. I need to use it more often to gain a total understanding of how it works fully. I have an average knowledge in excel too and can improve if I am to use it on a regular basis for reporting and analysis at work. Thank you
What you need to do is register with a recruitment agency that specialises in accounting jobs e.g Reeds, hays etc if you are registered with the accounting body ACCA, they have got loads of jobs on their website. There are loads of accounting jobs out there, the easiest to get in are the accounting firms/practice. Also majority use sage, Xero is taking over the market, the very small ones might use QuickBooks. If you are good at QuickBooks you will be able to muddle your way through any accounting software.

Before you go for interviews, try and find out from the agents what software the company uses, then go on YouTube and try and get a grasp. You can also improve your excel skills by practising.

When you go for interviews, the less hesitations the better.

Good luck

I need help beautiful people. I have been in the UK for almost 6 months now and I have been trying to get a job without success. Initially I wanted a job in accounting field which I studied in school but at this point, I just want to earn income and create value. I have three years of banking operations and very little accounting experience as I barely worked 3 months in a finance company back in Nigeria.
I have attended several interviews too but always get the regret mail which honestly speaking is really depressing. What kind of jobs can you recommend that l look for now and where or how do I apply. I don't want to remain idle in this last month of the year please. I am on a tier 2 dependent visa.

Aphrodite007 Lexusgs430 fatima04 justwise and every other person. Thanks in advance.
What little experience have you got in Accounting? What accounting softwares are you competent in even if its just basic? What about your excel level?

Encourage your own children to study agriculture nau
Yes I will and if they show a bit of interest I will encourage them, I advice my kids but don't force my opinions on them.

Prince Williams went back to school to study agriculture and estate management in order to make himself useful when he takes over his dads estate.

Nigerians are not very practical they like to live in a fantasy world, that's why the country is in a mess. Maybe if more kids are encouraged to study Agriculture, the country would have come up with more innovative ways to produce stoneless rice. At this stage they are still importing rice when they can grow rice in every state. Shameless country.

The same attitude they take abroad with their suitcase full of certificates with no experience. undecided undecided

All the lawyers I know are all struggling and flat broke. Law is also not lucrative esp for ppl without connection.

We should shift from this mentality that have created many jobless graduates today n teach our children skills to enable them become job creators. Entrepreneurship and business development/management is the way to go for future millionaires. Agric Agric Agric, we have fertile lands all around n animal rearing, tailoring, fashion designing, sports, music

Go to school study fine courses get good grades so you can work for big companies and earn fat salaries is not working anymore and we should stop teaching our children this lie which we were told.

It is now go to school develop n gain practical skills so you can start your own business and create jobs.
I am thinking the same thing, we need more students studying agriculture. not after studying medicine and engineering with any practicals end up text book graduate that cant even change a car tyre.

As a result of that, I've lost confidence in myself and also my self-esteem is nothing to write home about.

This has made me an introvert and I don't socialize.

So pls tall dudes out there, I want to know how you deal with your self esteem and confidence and also how you approach comments about your heights cuz am gradually going insane!!!

Same question I asked. In fact only bank is privy to the information regarding buyer’s % contribution to the mortgage
The seller has nowhere of knowing who contributed what during the transaction.
It might even interest you to know that the seller is more likely to get his money faster in a bank finance option and from an individual who pay 100%. That is how effective the system is.
There is a reason the banks would run the transaction through an underwriter.
There have been cases of dodgy solicitors taking buyers money and disappearing.

That's because they are assuming he paid for the house fully.

In reality, he likely only owns about 10-20% of the house and the bank owns the rest untill he pays it off.
At least instead of paying rent he will be paying off the mortgage to the bank and increasing his ownership percentage.
