Tayser look like we won't be having election for the president as Raila is getting scared...I hear opinion polls show Ruto post the well thought 250 plus best policy wonks manifesto has opened 15 percent lead. Now Raila is back to the default blaming chebukati. He was sleeping thinking he had deep state and system but those of us who knows chebukati is in Ruto prayer group and assured Ruto he will only read his name as the winner knows the real Kenya deep state is with Ruto.Anyway we are going to see Raila boycotting and trying to use the courts to stop election or try go for another handshake..but Uhuru I think has given up.Like the misguided BBI they understimated the genius that is William Ruto...now they show up get a dog beating or blame Chebukati the IEBC chair for their no show.Ruto not in the mood for handshake of any form.Raila must finally retire

We have to make it work whichever govt takes over. Including reducing the workforce and downsizing the entire entity. There should be a few good examples to borrow from.

Sometimes I thank good fortunes for never really following through with their Ab Initio Pilot Trainee Programme after qualifying. Was a very active member of PPRUNE way back.
Airline industry is brutal and many survive on gov subsidies.Only budget no frill airlines seem to thrive...

One of those haunting tunes of the Moi era when you were a really teeny tiny weeny, or even earlier, RVP can confirm. Apparently the rumors they died on their way back after performing the song were false. But the story makes the song even more evocative. Maybe they are still around, obviously grannies now, one hit wonders grin
Kenyatta era song.I was born in early 80s.This song was played in Kenyatta day.We sang Moi & KANU praise songs often as he would be visiting often and we had to line up streets and roads holding miniatures Kenya flags...if you didn't make to choir to sing in front of moi and you would get paid.Moi had commission of music headed by some professor whose job was compose new praise songs to be practised by school. We were in North Korea or china type of dictatorship. These songs made you feel you were incredibly lucky to be a Kenyan....and without much of free media...many didn't realize Kenya was a hell hole.We were just happy to be an oasis of peace and development. We recited the national anthem and nyayo philosophy or pledge of peace, love and unity often.. almost daily

What do they plan to do with KQ after 2 years? Reassess the situation or do away with it?
Stop bailing it out.KQ can decide to downsize further or close shop. But I think it will recover...the 750m dollars debt to buy dreamliners is down to 80m...so by next year they will own most of the planes and cut down leasing costs.

Kenyans here criticising Ghana concerning IMF should note that Kenya has been to the IMF more than Ghana and currently they are in the IMF scheme (Both forms of IMF schemes even). Liberia is the highest IMF dependent (21 times), Kenya (19 times), Ghana (17 times), Sierra Leone (17 times), Mali (17 times).

African countries currently on IMF Support

Cameroon
Equatorial Guinea
Gabon
Seychelles
Kenya
Capeverde
Central African Republic
Chad
Niger
Congo Drc
Liberia
Guinea
Uganda
Sudan
Somalia
Sierra leone
Sao Tome and Principe
Mozambique
Mali
Congo Republic
Madagascar
Gambia
It depends on what facility..standby or extended credit...Kenya mostly in 90s and 2000s were on bailout aka extended credit... Ghana has been on bailout as late as 2019 and going there.Standby facility is precautionary..you don't need to take the money.. bailout aka extended credit is bad news..IMF come and micromanage you

Was he really popular? Maybe in his home turf. Where am from we couldn't even breathe. Thats why the entire country breathed a collective sigh of relief when he finally bowed out. I don't think he should get credit for surviving sanctions because he caused them himself in the first place. Can't get credit for surviving self-induced predicaments. Only thing I sympathize with him was that he became a monster courtesy of Raila and his fellow anarchists in the 82 coup attempt.
Moi got 40 percent in 1997 at height of crippling sanctions...Raila as popular as he has become has scored 45 percent of around.Moi was popular among the small tribes... Sanctions was caused opposition telling donors it would make moi unpopular..it never worked

Another thing I should remind you about Ndii is that he's a horribly sore loser. Rem in the last election when his man Rao was beaten he was the first to quip splitting the country into two.
Yes he has very low emotional iq and that why he will be restricted to economic..Ruto has managed him so far by clearly defining his terms...he is terrible in politics..so he ain't involved in it now

Not too young or old. He used to walk around in a briefcase full of money. Dude used to literary carry the treasury in his hands dishing out mulla to people he liked grin If you mentioned ICT he'd have thought you were planning to overthrow him. Funny guy, he would be in church and across the street his political rivals were having their balls squeezed.

Moi doesn't get credit for surviving 10 yrs of sanctions.Youre too young.I was in university in his last decade.Moi remained incredibly popular because Kenya was an oasis of peace and development in the region. All the reforms that moi did in 90s Kibaki benefitted from.Kra formation, stability of banks, development of domestic borrowing, safaricom and related mobile tech.Moi stayed for long in power because he was very flexible...you can only compare moi to his contemporaries in Africa

That free senior secondary education thing is a disaster, trust me.
The schools have been running out of food, learning put on hold cos the students say they can learn with empty stomach.
In most cases, students are asked by the school authorities to go home cos they're ran out of food
The quality too is very questionable cos how do you produce smart kids that go to school 6months in an academic year and stay for another 6 months.
I know kids who should be in SS1, who are home as we speak and will wait for 3months before it gets to their batch.
Boarding components make school expensive.. Countries should try to shift education to day school..no need for boarding or food except lunch..by investing in good walking distance school..this is going to Kenya focus if Ruto wins.Already in Kenya kids who go day school get almost 100 percent capitation...those that go boarding only tuition is paid.Discourage boarding school by coming up standard school infrastructure that every school should have..one off investment..then it's become cheaper as it just paying teachers and maybe lunch. Now try to feed and house millions of kids in boarding school and you go bankrupt easily..in Kenya those in high school approaching four million... Boarding is stupid British system countries need to dump.. British adopted as most parents were busy colonizing the world otherwise elsewhere kids stays at home...even university level you should have majority living at home ..by ensuring they are colleges and universities spread all over offering same basic standard of education...90% day education..only 10 percent boarding

Lol, what if the people divert the money for different purpose and not to invest or rather invest the money in a long time investment. Doesn't that defeat the purpose of the program
Ideally you want to stimulate productive sectors..not social welfare..you can for example provide temporary jobs for jobless people to collect garbage, cut grass like the united state did in the great depression..provide farmers with cheap subsidy inputs

How will stimulus package inject money into the economy
When people sense a long winter is coming they stock up, they tighten their belts, they save up, they stop spending, they make a bad situation worse, because the economy already in tight spot now go into spiral, when monitary measure fails like lowering interest rate fails, as no one is borrowing anyway, you only option is to stimulate the economy by injecting money directly into it, that hopefully will stimulate spending that increase demand & eventually reduces prices and that is stimulus package..so gov instead of building roads now.. should figure out how to throw money to back to the people..lower taxes, increase salaries..divert all capital intensive project into social programs..with more money people will keep spending and economy will churn along. When the storm is over go back to investing in infrastructure. This is what everyone is doing.Africa is waiting for imf to finish them

interesting I was opposed to Ndii for long.i first met Ndii when he came to see my partner in our business..both from Oxford.. Africa economies under tutelage of the well regarded prof Paul Collier..but like Ruto I have come to appreciate his intelligence.Countries that suceeded tapped their brain to come with plans but left them out of implantation.Ndii is intelligent. There is no doubt among Kenya top brains include prof peter nyongo and David Ndii..later from legendary school of economics of Chicago university and Oxford university under the tutelage of prof Paul Collier. It shame prof peter nyongo the father of lupita nyongo and arguably Kenya best brain has been reduced to worshipping the school dropout Raila.Ruto himself a PhD is bringing the best of Kenya top brains

Idealists are fun to listen to, but terrible administrators.

wanna guess why?
Ruto has solid record since he was mp in 1990s..listen first. To reach where he is now from deep poverty at age of 55 he has proven himself..he delivers .Ruto by early 20s was doing great things because he great orator, hardworking, natural leader, go getter and name it.He has phd science and is great businessman himself...the man is incredibly hardworking and incredibly brilliant..in the mould of Meles Zenawi the late Ethiopian leader.Ruto is not prof Lumumba who talks a storm mimicking 1960s civil rights leaders ..Ruto has very impressive track record..he is his office by 5am and work extremely hard until midnight everyday.

Ethnicity will take a long ass time to end. Maybe once every few elections we can have an issue based campaign but not always. Can't wait to see the plagiarized menu feasto tomorrow.
Plagiarized from brain dead Azimio.Kenya kwanza has assembled 250 experts and will come up with 49 manifesto..one for each county, diaspora, then national one and 7 sector charters. Its unlike anything that has been done before in Kenya. And they will be SMART.. realistic plans. And it's core is bottom up strategy where everything starts from common man..not vendor driven proposal of before that create projects for Chinese contractors for rent seeking. This will be the major departure from previous manifesto with lessons having been learnt. If it's healthcare it will start at dispensary, if school at local base school, if transport from motor bikes, if housing from guys living in slums n kayoles, etc.Once this is done the impact on economy will be enormous and Kenya gdp will triple in a decade to 300b if not earlier
