UNN - Google Begins N3 Billion Wireless Network Work has commenced on building of the largest wireless network in Africa across the four campuses of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Google Inc., is the lead sponsor of the project to provide an internet bandwidth of 25 megabytes per second (25mbps) from an initial 8mbps. At the groundbreaking ceremony at the Nsukka campus last week, Google's Office Lead, English Speaking West Africa, Mr. Nyimbi Odero, disclosed that the UNN wireless network infrastructure project is the first the company would execute as part of its Google University Access Programme in Africa. Officials say the project would be delivered in three months at the end of August 2010. The University of Nigeria wireless network project aims to enable students and staff participate actively in the digital economy of the 21st century and use internet as well as Information and Communication Technology to drive teaching and research, according to , Prof. Bartho Okolo. He said the project is "one of the major milestones in the quest to make the University of Nigeria a global centre of learning." The project is projected to cost N3billion. The university is funding the ambitious project through "a network of friends of the University",being corporate organisations, governments as well as institutions and individuals. Google Inc, lead sponsor, will provide international internet bandwidth of a minimum 25mbps over an initial three-year period. MTN Nigeria Communications has committed to installation of the fibre capacity for the Nigerian end of the programme to link the UNN campuses at Nsukka, Enugu and Ituku Ozalla, with a microwave uplink to the Aba campus. Governor Sullivan Chime's Enugu State Government has already granted right of way to MTN for laying of the fibre optic cables to the three campuses in Enugu State. http://allafrica.com/stories/201006010651.html |

Please can people posting screenshots include their network and location. Thanks. |
@ curioz Can you please post a screenshot of bittorrent with the multilinks modem application manager ? Just like i did with my own with MTN above. There are plenty of doubting thomases on this forum. Thanks. @lynxnonn i have dropped almost 12GB download and 6Gb upload within just 1 month. Am the reigning MTN kaduna champion. |
@ OP Ma Guy, Na Naija we dey !!! ![]() Nobody am sure on this forum has the luxury of spending $1200 for an ipad. Do u know what that amount of money can do for you here in nigeria ? Am sorry to say but you are better off advertising your item somewhere else. If not for effyzie i doubt there's anybody who's going to buy an ipad in nigeria for any real work. Goodluck dude !! |
@ curioz I will soon join you on the Multilinks 3G Blue Broadband network. No be torrent you dey download !! If i start my own ![]() By the way, check out bittorrent with Tor on MTN. I have reached 180KB/S with Tor using bittorrent. Will post screenshot soon. Also, check out how much bandwidth i have gulped for the past 1 month.

Anybody has any idea how to speed up bittorrent on Tor ?
|
curioz:Chei !! Na Multilinks be that. Multilinks gives its subscribers unique WAN ips on the internet that's why torrent seeds and trackers can directly connect to you giving you killer speeds. Pls where are u located, what modem do you use and what plan are you on ? Multilinks just launched their 3G Blue Broadband here in kaduna and am thinking of getting one. |
@Curioz, Try and adjust your upload speed. Its too much. You should try and limit it so that your download speeds can get even faster. P.S What network are u using ? |
ajadudu:Credit must be given where it is due. Did VW create the Beetle in the picture ? No ! Therefore, its not the same 80's VW Beatle. The man has simply modified the Beatle to an image he wanted. That's creativity. If na beans, do am now. Typical nigerian mentality. We cannot even appreciate the small rough diamonds that we have. Imagine, what he could have done with the proper educational background. @ Post, More grease to your elbows and well done. Many people will appreciate your efforts. Keep it up and may God bring you success. |
Just carry your moderator hammer & knack them for head now !!! ![]() |
@ Lynxnoon, ![]() How far ? 2 Days. Na MTN abi Starcomms hide you. |
Tor is seriously giving me headaches. If i tick with bridges it slows down, if i remove them it picks up and reaches speeds like this. I had this for almost 5mins. My bittorrent is also slow. Any ideas BABA DC ?
|
MTN browsing was free yesterday morning. Unfortunately, i could only get a few minutes.
|
@ N95 - 2 8GB Seye, please help me out with your stuff. Will really appreciate it. Here's my mail samir2002ng@yahoo.com. Thanks. |
Arc. Namadi Sambo - Vice President Wow. I honestly dont know what to say. Arc. Namadi Sambo is those kind of Governors that are just "there". They neither act good nor bad therefore you dont know which way they are thinking. Even in kaduna here people are shocked as they never even gave a thought to him becoming VP. Honestly, am not that shocked. Arc. Namadi Sambo is like lukewarm water neither hot nor cold therefore you dont react to it. His achievements inKaduna are mediocre. He has not done anything special which is why i think Goodluck Jonathan picked him as he would be more loyal and he doesnt have presidential ambitions and a power base in the north. Arc. Namadi Sambo was "installed" by former governor and now senator Ahmed Makarfi. Am telling you everybody is shocked in Kaduna talkless of places like lagos, port-hacourt, benin etc. Jonathan must pick somebody from the north. It was obvious, however, he would not choose somebody that would jeorpadise his own ambitions. |
My Life For Nerzhul !!! ![]()

3 Gbosa for Linux !!! ![]() Gbosa ! Gbosa !! Gbosa !!! |
The problem i have with is not with the Ipad itself but with Apple and all other technological companies. Apple knows all the deficiencies and drawbacks of the Ipad. They just wont give you a complete product as doing so will mean the end of a revenue stream. Instead, they will release a first generation ipad and over-hype the product which they are good at. Then when things start settling down, they will release a 3G version or one with a usb port (Hardware Support). Finally, for the Coupe De la Grace, they release an Ipad 3GS that can multi-task and run much faster. By then, Apple will be smiling to the bank after taxing all the money in your pocket. Buying an Ipad in Nigeria will be one of 2 things :- to show off (effyzie) or a case of too much money. |
Baba Lynx, ![]() Happy Easter !! Where's ma chicken !!! ![]() |
lekside44:Your statement above has just proved our points and rendered your original post useless. Imagine a computer in the 21st century that cannot multi-task or have just 1 usb port. If apple wants to market the ipad as an ebook reader then let them do so. But they are selling it like a touchscreen macbook. Any extra effort on your behalf is unnecessary wahala and does not justify the $600 you are about to spend. |
@ Mavor, ![]() No mind me. Na small you see. My rapidshare premium membership don finish. You 4 don run. hehehe Hw u dey ? Wetin u chop for easter ? |
My people, i dey hail una ! Happy Easter !!!
|
guente02:Problem be say, etibaba na EDGE network. MTN nko na 3.5G network. Na the reason be say u dey see all those killer speeds. |
Nigerians and Effyzie One of the best lessons i ever learned from Apple was the Iphone. Those people that couldn't afford it & spent over N100k to buy it now look like fools. Before you know it, there will be Ipad 3G and then Ipad 3GS. Thats if you dont get mugged brandishing it about to impress people. Or your baby nephew takes it and smashes it onto the ground or pours akamu on it. hehehehe. The thing is too fragile men !! |
kpolli:Guy, nobody is a small boy here. A blackberry is how much Just because we are wise enough to buy an alternative with more features doesn't mean we are dumb enough to buy one. How i wish every Nigerian owning a Blackberry had a special color showing whether the BB service was activated. At N5000 a month for the service, everybody is just buying the phone for effyzie and not for its services. Any mature person who has respect for his hard earned money will not give the blackberry a second look. There are better alternatives. |
Hi, Y'all Am in Maiduguri. This place na real desert including camels. Yes ! Real live camels as in ali baba and the forty thieves. Getting ready for the test tomorrow. Have gone and seen the venue inside university of maiduguri. Have laid my books to rest. Its all in God's hands. Good luck and all the best. We go yarn after the test. My section is Computing/Information Engineering. |
Maybe i wasn't too straight forward. IT'S IMPOSSIBLE !!! GBAM !!! Who do you think in Nigeria has the time and energy to create & compile a complete wordlist dictionary in any ethnic language At best, they can do for the 3 major languages but who will do it and whats the profit Therefore, forget it and don't waste your time. |
