No!...Japanese and Chinese because of pride speak their own language...you don't see Japanese prime minister speak English in the UN meeting even if he can. See! igbo is dying. I see many Igbo youths that can't speak igbo, forming phonetics. Unlike Hausa and Yoruba that is taught from childhood. Many igbo parents sometimes willingly refuse teaching Igbo to their kids because they want them to appear more western or civilized which is very wrong. See many igbo brought ups in Lagos, Kaduna, kano etc can't speak igbo. In the North even in official setting they joyfully speak their hausa but in the east it is not the case. I don't know why many igbos sometimes pretend they can't speak igbo and this is rampant among young youths and those slay Queens...The language will slowly die with this mentality erasing our culture. We should encourage igbo to be spoken and no one should be shy to speak it. We igbos always try to appear more western which in the long run will affect our heritage.

I get ur agurement, it boils down to our parents refusing to speak our local dialect to the children.
Another factor is inter-marriage, wereby both parents don't understand each other language, which one will the child learn.
Another factor is our environment. If they leave in an environment predominant with other tribe.

Hmn. Says who? In the Netherlands, they have more than one national language. They speak flemish and frisian in the Netherlands too. What happened is that the government promoted dutch as the main national language. Same thing can happen in Nigeria with 3 major languages being promoted as the national language- Hausa, Yoruba and Igbo. With government support and mutual understanding, this policy will work. We need to start from somewhere.

Igbo, Yoruba & Hausa has already be promoted in Nigeria by the government. For example wen the federal government want to make an important anoucement , they also relay it in the various major Nigerian languages.it will be pointless making the 3 major languages a national language.
My agurement is that at least all Nigerians should be able to express themselves in English language both in speaking or in writing, not neglecting our local language.
For example I meant a student of SS3 in one of the wester state, he couldn't speak English not to talk of expressing himself. I was so mad at him. I asked him does it mean if he leaves the Yoruba speaking state,so he can't express him self?

Yes, Igbo Language should be spoken on the same day traditional clothing is worn to school. However, I don't agree that English Language should be given more prominence than our local languages. The Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, Germans do not speak English as their first language and they also do not teach with English language in their schools. English Language is a 2nd language in China, Japan, South and North Korea and Germany. And these nations are far ahead of Nigeria in so many things. I believe we will produce more intelligent people in our schools if we teach students with Igbo, Yoruba and Hausa. Cheers.

Oga!!! Ur argument is baseless, those countries u name above speck a unifieing language, which are Chinese, Japanese, Dutch , Korean etc. And there citizens speck English at the international stage. Nigeria is a muti-legual nation, English is our unifieing language.

I hate it when student of these day can't express themselves in simple English.
And if a Nigerian can not express his or her self in English language in the global stage, you call them illiterates, you start agureing that English is not our mother tougue, but you forgot that Nigeria is an English speaking Nation.

Before I gain admission into the University,I use to engage in video coverage which pay my bills.
On this occasion,it was somewhere in Sapele in Delta State.
I went to cover Igbe festival ( juju festival), we sent to the river to perform some sacrifices. As they were performing some rituals in the river, when I face the camera towards the river to capture the rituals , the camera will go off , but when I face it from the river it will come on. This happens abt 3 times, on d 4th time , suddenly I saw a very big gaint human like creature dive out from the river just the way dophine do dive out of water. I saw the body & d tail end.
It was a very terrifying experience.
As soon as I saw it I ran, everybody was surprised because they didn't see what I saw.
Only the juju princess saw what I saw.

For many households and restaurants, using paracetamol is the fastest way to prepare meat. It saves gas, kerosene or firewood. And costs much less, N50 for one sachet of 12 tablets, and each tablet can cause a pot-full of meat to cook soft within few minutes. It's an amazing discovery, or so it seems. But what they don't know is that as much as they are quickening the amount of time it takes to cook, they are also quickening their days on mother earth. 

"It's a lot faster to boil meat with paracetamol," a young mother, Adeola told this writer upon inquiry. "I have used it to cook cow leg on a number of occasions. If you add one tablet, the meat will melt and become soft in just ten minutes."

But Adeola is endangering her life and those of her young children. She was in shock to realise this. 

Paracetamol, ordinarily, is a killer, when consumed regularly to cure a headache or take care of pains, but when cooked in a pot, it's a certain expressway to kidney or liver failure. 

Medical experts say when paracetamol is used in cooking, it loses the pain killer property and becomes highly acidic and dangerous for human consumption. 

When the process occurs, paracetamol is hydrolyzed into what is called 4-aminophenol, which, experts say, is highly very toxic to the kidney and liver.

Last week, a facebook user raised alarm about the prevailing use paracetamol to cook goat meat 'pepper soup' in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State and other surrounding areas.

Investigations by this writer revealed that restaurant owners opt for paracetamol because it helps them save cost and reduce the waiting time for customers.

Recently, there has been a hike in the number of young Nigerian men coming down with kidney failure, most of which result in death on account of poor medical care, part of the reason for that, apparently is consumption of paracetamol/panadol 'pepper soup' or meat it is used to prepare generally. Ignorance is proving costly in this regard. 

In its 2016 report, the Nigeria Medical Journal noted that Chronic kidney disease (CKD) has so prevalent in the country that it has "become a public health problem in Nigeria."

In March last year, the Nigerian Association of Nephrology (NAN) said a whooping 25 million Nigerians, representing over 13 percent of the country's estimated 180million people had kidney failures. 

But paracetamol or panadol is not dangerous only when cooked in a pot. Regular intake or slight overdose can be equally deadly. 

The maximum 24-hour dose of paracetamol is 4g, but as little as 5g, experts say, can cause liver complications, and it can be easy to overdose accidentally by taking more than one product containing it at the same time.
