Armstrong34:Since she already has a Bsc, booking under category A whether she was going for a second Bsc or Msc was the right option. She can go for the Msc since she has Msc AL. No problem. |
Penialpriere:You're welcome. Abeg which school/course have already given you admission so early? My advice is that you wait till October/November then book appointment. |
Penialpriere:When are you expected to resume? Visa appointments for summer usually begins around November. |
Penialpriere:You wanna book visa appointment for summer? Have you gotten admission already? |
Penialpriere:Are you talking about booking visa appointment for summer or gaining admission for summer? |
benrichie46:Congratulations!!! Thanks for providing your information (school, course and degree type). You've been included in the AM testifiers list. Wish you all the best!!! |
Aderiike00:This is the danger of booking AD without AL, meanwhile there are so many with ALs but no AD. But since the embassy has made it possible to book for AD without presenting your AL, people will continue to do so. Anyways, the general rule is to cancel your appointment at least ONE WEEK to the date to avoid getting banned. If you fail to do so, you'll be banned for six months. But check your Appointment mail for more details. |
Eldeee:Thanks bros. Looking forward to the day I'll add you to the AM Testifiers list. You're one of the dons here. God bless you. |
SOME COMMON MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE WHEN APPLYING TO GERMAN SCHOOLS Disclaimer: This is just on my experience so far on this thread, I'm no expert. Please, the bosses on this thread, feel free to add/correct anything. This is just to aid prospective applicants to avoid such mistakes. - Certifying your original documents. This is a big mistake. You're meant to certify the PHOTOCOPY of the original document. - Applying for schools/courses that require tuition (and you can't afford it). Germany is famous for tuition free schools but NOT ALL SCHOOLS/COURSES ARE FREE ESPECIALLY PRIVATE UNIVERSITIES. Before applying, check well and make sure it's tuition free before you apply. if you're searching on daad, there's an advanced filter that allows you to search for tuition free schools. Of course, if you can afford the tuition, then this point is not for you. - Applying for courses where the Language of Instruction is German aber du sprechst kein Deutsch. Please read well oo, make sure the Language of instruction for the course is clearly English before you apply. aber wenn spreche ich Deutsch dann kein problem. - Applying for courses that give conditional admission. Typical example: you apply to a school and they give you admission letter but ask you to present German certificate for enrollment within a time frame that is nearly impossible to get that certificate. Check the course's website very well before you apply, make sure you can meet all the requirements for admission AND enrollment before you apply. - Applying for courses without checking the requirements. In the previous part, someone applied to a school via uniassist without checking the cgpa requirements and got bounced cos the cgpa didn't meet up. Money and time wasted. Please convert your cgpa to German scale and make sure it falls within the required requirements before you apply. This also applies to all other requirements like English test etc. Please let's be guided. Thank you. |
UbiPetrus:I'm the one compiling the list, the list is on page 1 of this thread. Again I appeal to winter folks, when testifying for AM please add your school course and degree type in your testimony. |
sapha:Congratulations ooo!!!! Please state your course, school and degree type for the AM Testifiers list. |
dainvincible:If you booked category B that means you are going for BSc without a previous Bsc or STK (or you're going for MSc and graduated with 3rd class). Please don't tick Abuja because Abuja only processes MSc, PhD and those on scholarship. Again we've said it severally if you do not live in Abuja or any of the Northern states captured ie. Your AL doesn't carry such address and you cannot provide proof of residency there, DO NO TICK THE ABUJA BOX. Reasons why: - You'll get bounced. - Abuja embassy is way more strict than the Lagos Embassy Also you may live in Abuja and tick the box but get AD for Lagos. I personally know 2 people who experienced such. Someone also mentioned here that he lives in Calabar and didn't tick the box but still got sent to Abuja. The embassy chooses where you have your interview not necessarily because you ticked the box. Please don't allow desperation drive you to make silly mistakes. |
kendoschurrle:Mail the course coordinator and ask when applications start, if it is not written on the school's website |
glopatra:This is someone I know personally and that's what he told me. He also said they're not allowed to do student jobs since they are funded by the government. But others can verify sha. |
shanky14:Cancel and book with your new enrollment date. But the truth is that those who have gotten AD recently are those who use December as deadline. So find out from your school if they can still extend your enrollment to December or allow you to enrol by proxy. If they refuse, start seeking deferment for summer. |
adesunloye11:Please go and check daad.de. |
GrasstoGrace:My fellow CU Alumni, welcome. Honestly, 2.76 is very high for study in Germany ( By the time you convert it to german grade). But anything is possible in this German waka. But you'll have to do a lot of work and research. No one can help you with this. Here are a few tips: - If your goal is Msc, then go on daad.de and start searching for schools in your desired course. Look at their cgpa requirements, you may need to mail their course coordinators and ask questions. You may need to extend your search to Google and Wikipedia for more schools. Courses are limited for summer so you may only find schools that'll accept you during winter. - With your low cgpa, it's advisable to go for a second Bsc. Here you don't have problem. You can even decide to switch fields if you want. - Read through this thread and the pevious parts. There's a wealth of information to gain. I've seen people make silly mistakes just because they didn't read, let that not be your case. So sit down and carefully weigh all your options. Then decide what you want to do. |
meekmill:Uncle you might attract scammers since this is a public forum. It's advisable to use SL from only people you know/trust |
DeutschMariano:Congratulations!!! |
elpatron95:You won't get visa for language study because there is Goethe Institute in Lagos. |
vickmor002:Please don't ooo. You might get bounced. If you booked for Category A and you don't qualify for Category A, you'll be bounced. Booking in the 2 categories, abeg no try am. Please let's do the right thing. |
devmantic:Exactly. I have a friend on DAAD scholarship and he's required to come back to Nigeria after his studies and must spend at least 2 years in his country before he can apply for German visa again. That really discouraged me. |
Mudi4u:Congratulations!! Please is it BSc or MSc? |
CruiseControl:Once you enrol, You're a student. That means you can resume anytime. I know someone whose school resumed in October, yet he got to Germany in January because of visa issues. He was allowed to enrol by proxy and some of his lecturers even sent him lecture notes/study materials for him to study while he was in Nigeria. |
eddiemei:STK means studenkolleg, like a preliminary study before you start your BSc. It requires at least B1 in German i.e you have to learn German up to B1 here in Nigeria before you can apply. STK is said to be very hard plus there are restrictions like they may not be allowed to work or work limited hours compared to other students. |
eddiemei: odimbannamdi:It's stated clearly on the first page of this thread. You can't use OND to study in Germany (except maybe through the STK route) To study for BSc in Germany, you'll need either: - a previous BSc - HND - 100 Level transcript |
CruiseControl:Enrol by proxy means you can enrol while still in Nigeria. Some schools allow enrollment by proxy while some will demand your presence for enrollment |
Whitemagic:AM- Approval Mail, mail you receive from the German embassy telling you that your visa has been approved AD- Appointment Date, date of your visa interview with the embassy |
Squirrel01:The people that have gotten ADs recently used Dec 6 upwards as deadline, I suggest you mail your school again explaining your plight and ask them if you can enrol by proxy |
chimax1:Yes you can buy it this week, it's better coz they might not open on public holidays |
tejaf05:Sir, please read this thread. It's for your own good. You'll see many interview transcripts that contains all possible questions, documents you'll submit on that day. |
trendingsleek:Welcome to the thread. All you need is on the first page of this thread. Please take time to read through this thread and the previous parts, you'll gain a wealth of information. As for applications, most schools have closed for winter application. Summer applications usually begins September/October, some schools may have already started. However courses are very limited in summer so I advise that you first search for schools you can apply to for summer in your desired course. If you don't find any, you may have to wait till Winter next year. |
