Romance › Re: Why Do People Hate Women Who Choose To Be Child Free? by SavageResponse(m): 8:19pm On Jan 14, 2021 |
DrFunmisticGlow: I have been noticing this trend for a while. I don't have a lot of examples to quote from but i have a few.
The first was at a get-together with some good female friends and we were talking. We talked about work, businesses, exams, then relationships and marriage. Then one of my friends, let's call her T says that's she is taking a break from relationships, because she has suddenly realized that she doesn't want children. And she proceeded to list reasons why. There was silence for a while. Then another of my friends let's call her H then says something that ticks me off. 'You probably feel like that now, but you will change your mind once you're older'. Another friend G chimes in and says that T only feels that way because she just finished paediatrics posting and it can be traumatising, that she'll get over it.
I reply and say that there's nothing wrong with a woman choosing to remain childless. This leads to an argument, but we settle it sha.
The other one was an older lady who came to my office for a consultation after diagnosing and giving drugs as she was my last patient. We got talking and I asked her if she was lonely being alone. She says that yes it is at times, but when she sees most of her married friends being in one form of misery or the other, she feels that she doesn't regret it. She said she couldn't sustain long term relationships due to her dysfunctional upbringing. I then ask her about adopting and she says she doesn't want children, she cannot stand them. She then tells me that not everyone is supposed to be a parent and i agree.
She then tells me that i am the first person who she talked to about this issue and didn't try to judge her, try to convince her to change her mind, dissmiss her or shame her
This got me thinking that some people, especially women due to choice or circumstances have no children. But nigerians in general seem to ostracize them.
This is a recurring theme that I keep seeing. One would think that men are the ones who judge, but no, women do it the most.
So my question is this, why do people feel uncomfortable with the fact that some people cannot or choose not to have children?
It doesn't make sense.
Please share your views on this topic. No bashing please. Happy Sunday. Our society has come to regard having children as the standard thing for a mature woman to do. It's the same way everyone pesters you to get married and generally sticks their noses in your business |

chinenye497: A young man took to social media to seek advice on how to handle his relationship problem.
The man said he was in a relationship with this lady for about nine years, of which the lady did eleven abortions, and the last one almost took her life, which led to the removal of her womb.
Read his statement below;
"Hi there, I am 36 and about to settle down. I dated a lady for about nine years, or thereabout. She got pregnant several times, and we both opted for abortion. We both took the decision.
Several times, I tried to tell her the danger of this, and how to protect herself. This lady doesn't know her safe period and all that. In 2017 after the last abortion, her uterus got infected. And that made her bleed and smell for months and was finally removed. That was the point I realized that the journey to our forever has ended. Read more below

Tunagee: Truth is bitter. Everything the poster mentioned in that post is 100% fact. Its only poverty stricken short sighted illiterate and educated Nigerians that would not agree with his post. I have most of my families abroad, even as far back as the 80's living in the UK and US, they are not making any headway there, just managing. My sister in law's husband is planning to relocate back here after spending several years there. Nobody wants to be an employee forever. Most of the OP's points are what I always tell people; if you are relocating cos of your kids, fine. But why would I use a large sum of money running into several millions to migrate abroad where there are less opportunities, and a very high cost of living. Thank you OP for this post. When people criticize this kind of post talking about immigration, just know they have never travelled out before. A typical US/ UK/ Canadian based Nigerian would agree with this post 100%..A lady I know recently relocated back to Nigeria after her First Degree and Masters, she said she regretted spending all those huge amount of money in a foreign education cos at the moment she is a very, I mean, a very successful and rich caterer and events planner here, raking in millions and using her late fathers influence to get great contacts. You got that right...only people who have never traveled to Europe or America think living there is paradise on earth! |
Business › Re: My Brother's Salesgirl Is Stealing from Him, Should I Tell Him? by SavageResponse(m): 11:56pm On Jan 13, 2021 |
Manoftheyear: Good day guys, happy New year to everyone, please I will make this post as brief as possible.
My brother asked me to help him look after his business when he wants to travel for Xmas, and it happens that I know much about the business, and he have a salesgirl too whom from my observation is a single mother though she is still very young.
Now this is the problem, since I started coming to that shop, I noticed this girl used to do some uncertain things (wuru wuru), so I decided to be more watchful and that's when I found out what she has been doing in the shop. I have caught her red handed in this act.
The first occasion was during last week Tuesday when we were about to close for the day and I was going through the sales book only for me to realized that the items we sold earlier in the day, the quantity in the book was different from what we actually sold, she minus some quantity and I called her to it and she acted as if it was a mistake, I acted as if nothing happened.
Second incident was last week Saturday, I was in the shop and one woman came to the shop with an Item she bought from our shop, so I was in my corner not minding them but I realized she came to complain of something to her and later bought another thing, I saw the item she came with so after the woman left, I called the girl and asked her when the woman bought that item, she said it was on Thursday, so after sometime, I went to the sales book to check if she wrote it, but I was shocked when I went through the whole week sales but I couldn't find it. I kept my cool, till in the evening when we were about to go and i asked her to show me where she wrote it, only for her to be going through over and over again, I asked her, I thought you said you sold this thing on Thursday and she said no.
Now because we have closed for the day, she wrote it as Monday sales, but I keep wondering if it was only this item that the woman bought. Even is she sold it on Thursday and forget to write it down, the Money would have reflected after the close of the day, but it didn't, that means she intentionally stole the money. She is the one with shop keys and she opens the shop before i come every morning.
Now my problems are
1. I love minding my business
2. It's my brother's business which he entrusted to me to look after for him, so if after finding out all these things and still keep it to myself, if anything goes wrong in future I won't forgive myself.
3. This lady is a single mother and very young, I assume this is the only place she gets what she's using to take care of her herself and her baby, I really feel for her and I know she is going to loose her job if my brother gets to know about this.
Please what should I do?
Please forgive my errors, I'm not perfect Tell your brother what you discovered without mincing words! |

Dotar: Please, kindly ignore any grammatical error.
I am a female military personnel dating a civilian in a distance relationship, I'm naturally clingy in a relationship, I love attention alot but my guy is always claiming busy at work ( well understood) but when he's off from work he doesn't give me a satisfied attention because is either he's sleeping, wants to prepare something to eat or already out chilling with a friend and whenever I call when he's out,he will tell me he's in a noisy place and can't talk till he gets home. so,most times I stay awake till 11 pm to get to speak with him before going to bed.
I always feel pretty lonely because I'm an introvert,I don't have friends.I really wish to keep another man to serve as a distraction but i find it difficult to because I love wholeheartedly and can only love one man at a time.
I cry everytime begging for his attention yet no changes,I feel ashamed that I can't have a grip over my emotions.
Right now,I am seriously fade up i dont know what to do any more, i have talked and talked but all fell on blocked ears, he doesnt even feel remorse whenever I complain,he rather defends himself and gives justifications for his actions and even blame me for being inconsiderate and that if I can't cope I should go because he's tired of my incessant complains.
I feel stucked in this relationship because i find it difficult to call it quit..i begged him to call it a quit but he said he can't do it,that I can go if that's what I want.
please advise me on what to do because I'm dying slowly. The guy is already tired and wants out of the relationship...the handwriting on the wall is already very clear! |
