I just couldn't help but laugh while reading through this thread. Its been quite engaging and I must say that I have learnt alot. Kudos guys. However, there are certain things I observed which I'd like to make mention of before I go any further. 1. Many here are speaking from their respective church's point of view[pertinent or not] even though I agree that it's hard to prevent this as our local church is where we get alot of spiritual[christian] knowlegde. 2. The fact that everyone is quoting scriptures from the bible is pointer that we are saying the same thing because the scriptures is not self-contradictory. 3. The Point of view of Goshen,Tgirl, and the rest are ALL correct. Like the proverbial blind men who touched the same elephant but arrived at different conclusions, this a similar case scenario because, afterall, ''now we know in part. .'' 4. Here are few words I gathered from the thread that I think people are either confusing to be the other or mis-applying when interpreting scriptures: a. Works and Works. b. Holiness and Righteousness. c. Grace and Grace and a whole lot more. The overriding problem why we find it hard to understand scripture and its interpretation is basically how we approach The Word. People who are primarily concerned with 'demonic manipulations' and how to deal with them will always approach the scriptures that mindset. It'll be difficult for them to see too much in the scriptures other than how to wage war with demon spirits. Likewise anyone who is concerned with escatological teachings. If we read the bible with an 'empty' heart I tell you lots of the things we question will not crop up. The problem is that we approach God's throne with a pre-knowledge and that is why its hard for us to learn anything new. Some christians just want to argue. They reject new knowledge so long it doesn't appeal to them in a way that affects what they've been taught in the church. This is the exact mindset of the Pharisees. They were stifled-necked. Not open hearted. They stuck to what they already knew. I was discussing with friends on the disposition of christians today and one of them was of the opinion that if Jesus were to come a second time, most modern day christians would kill him again. Why? We are not open-minded. This is not to say we should '' be tossed by every wind of doctrine. .'' but as christians we should understand that so long we are in the flesh, absolute knowlegde of the word of God is unlikely. That's why the instruments of prayer, fasting, bible study and meditation remains the key. Many of us who say these things are far from God. I laugh when people are quick to mention fornication, lying, stealing as the very grievious sins. How about more subtle sin like Pride, envy, covetousness,Lording over people, jealousy, unyielding to God's word etc? Jesus is Lord. |
Give us LIGHT Give us WATER Give us ROAD End ASUU strike Reduce NASS salary... |
VICTORCIZA: My believe is that Apc is sponsoring this strike.periodSee the kind of brains we are producing in our Universities? The only thing this individual could make out of the ASUU-FG face-off is that APC is behind it all. This is one of severally reasons I think ASUU should continue with the strike. And BTW,if APC is sponsoring the strike, they should be the party I'd vote in 2015 because all of ASUU's demands are pertinent and genuine. Take your certificate outside our shores,... You'll comeback and take to the street. [crap] |

Nice Topic. I want to ask. If Mark Zuckerberg were a Nigerian would FACEBOOK have seen the light of day? If Felix Emeagwali stay back in Nigeria, would he have invented the super fast computer? No! Why? The USA(and other Western nations) has got a society that is framed to support ideas & innovations. Large coys in the Western nations are constantly on the look-out for any great idea to finance. Can we say the same for Nigeria(Africa)? The problem we have is much deeper than we phantom. Its a problem that is entrenched in the very nucleus of the nation Nigeria. And the problem with Nigeria and most of Africa are our core values. Nothing more. What exactly do we as a people who make up the society value? Do we value hardwork, sincerity, honesty and like virtues? Let me ask us,what would you say to a relative who became a,say, governor and couldn't erect one building all because he wanted to be honest and make judicial use of public funds? In the open you may praise him, but,in your bedroom you will mock him. Thats the Nigeria where we want a Facebook like innovation to emanate from. In Nigeria we don't value hardwork. How much more innovations. If you an Igbo man were the CEO of a large conglomerate and a Yoruba man approached you with his innovative idea, seeking financing, what would you say/do? We can't even live in the same country as people of different tribes. Imagine going into a bank to as for loan to start up a business. Their demands will strangle all the ideas you have in your head. When MTN came to Nigeria, they were refused loan. Thats the make up of Nigeria. The process it takes for one to do simplest of things in Nigeria is cumbersome and discouraging. In the west it takes less stress if any to do these things. And we will need much more than posting on Nairaland to change that. Africans are thinking. But no one cares. If they did, the guys at Nnewi would have been sent to learn automobile Engineering abroad. If Africa care Nairaland would have expanded beyond this. If Africa cared these blog gers would have been put to better use. Africa is thinking. Yes. But Africa isn't ready for a ground-breaking,earth shaking innovation. No. At least not now. |

[quote author=A-town]Why is it that these spirits are only peculiar to Africa? Do we serve a different God? Why is it that the "Oyinbos" that actually "BROUGHT" religion to us never have these spiritual husbands/wives. People lets wake up and stop deceiving ourselves. If you're having symptoms, please go see a DOCTOR. You may have a previously undetected illness. There is no such thing as spiritual spouse. Chikena.[/quote]And who told U these spirits are only peculiar to Africa? I've heard and read stories of Europeans,Americans etc who have experienced manifestations of spirit beings. One story had it that ''. . .there was trememdously shaking in the entire house and there was no earthquake. . .'' Btw,demon spirits do not manifest in spiritual husbands or poverty alone. They can come in diverse ways, with the sole aim of perverting God's work in human lives. Look at the situation ind world today. Look at the Americans & Europeans for example(who may nt be poor and backward as their African counterpart[whch is no importance to demons]),how is the morals there? America & Russia are among countries with the highest crime rate with the former a 'divorce' republic. That aside, can u say for sure that,at this ever increasing rate of violence and tension ind world,we'd survive another 400yrz? Who do u think prompted all of these? Incase you dont know, demons thrive where their existence is ignored. Thats why a rich American can commit suicide. Demons my friend isn't peculiar to Africa. Thanks. |

Prophecy or No Prophecy Nigeria will lift the cup. |
Isaiah 40:31 says; 'they that WAIT upon the Lord. . .' By my interpretation this scripture,in a way,is saying that sometimes certain delays in the fulfilment of divine promises and prayers in our lives may,in actuality, not be influenced by the kingdom of darkness as many teachings today would want us Christians to believe but God Himself. My question now is this: How do you distinguish between God influenced delays and the devil influenced delays? Because some delays can be so lengthy that desperation begins to creep in. |
Ok. |
I kinda get confused with certain Escatological teachings especially when it has to with RESURRECTION and RAPTURE. This scripture LUKE 19:16-31 which holds the account of a certain rich man(and Lazarus) who died and 'went' to hell, supports d general christian doctrine of immediate judgement and condemnation(if found guilty) after death. My question is this; if people go to either Heaven/Hell(implying resurrection) immediately after death, what resurrection will take place at rapture? How many resurrection did the scriptures talk about? Thanks in anticipation of ur responses. |
ATMC: By refusing to accept d message of christ to which d holy ghost bears witness. This means alot of us xtians have sinned against d HolySpirit because in one time of our lives we have rejected d gospel. |
inurmind: I'm don't know but shouldn't the holyspirit actually tell you these things and not wait for you to start guessing games?True. But I could use information from other xtians on ds matter, dont u think so? |
To those who understand the ministry of the Spirit of God; How can one sin against or blaspheme the HolySpirit? Scripture Reference: Mark 3:28. Thanks in anticipation of your responses. |
2012 Worst- Gej and his subsidy removal. 2012 Best- Too numerous to mention. |
Call me ignorant, naive, crazy, lazy or whatever you want,I'll stick with the word of God-Bible,and all it says. OBE/NDE's are real, undoubtly. People experience them everyday. But any of it that attempts to ignore the significance or relevance of The Lord Jesus in 'spiritual' matters, from the onset, was staged by the devil. He will do anything to propagate a no-Jesus spirit-realm/reality. And thats exactly what so many comments on here alludes to,a no-Jesus spirit-realm/reality. Some even relating physical laws with spiritual realities. Even if astral-travel and whatever are real and practical(after all Job did have such an experience),which I don't doubt,I consider putting them into practice(without the aid of Jesus and the HolySpirit) when still alive on earth as violating of Spiritual laws, which by the way is the devil's pre-occupation. The fact that d forbidden fruit existed to d full glare of Adam&Eve didnt mean they were permitted to eat it. God,in his infinite mercy/love has given us the best and safest way to Him and thats Jesus the Christ. Any other means,I mean any other means, regardless of who[human] may have deviced it,ultimately, is from The Slanderer, the devil. Just like Adam&Eve,why do humans hate restriction? Not every curosity leads to a righteous end. Real Christians(not the religious) are aware of this. Thanks. |

For me the general organization was shambolic. When will Africa get it right? I hear one of the awards was wrongly awarded. Your views. |
The best we can do to reduce corruption in Nigeria is to adopt the BUHARI style. Nigerians only understand brute force. |
