ObaKlaz: Well, you can't blame me. I am an Edo man but born and bred a Yoruba man. I speak and write the Yoruba language fluently, but I still can't claim complete mastery of it anyway! wow.... how nice to know. What part of Edo do you hail from? I know many Edos like yourself who are just as proficient in Yoruba. |

ObaKlaz: Oya, Sha, Egusi and abi are 100% YORUBA WORDS. I'm not sure about Shakara and Gragra. All the words in that list are yoruba without exception. Shakara is from Shako. Shakara Oloje (A very tricky evasive girl who forms a lot).. Not even sure the proper word for Shako in English And Gra Gra is from Gira Gira (Brashness) |

Watermelon in Yoruba is simply Ibara. Eso means fruit. So unless one is being rhetorical, i.e 'Watermelon fruit" Ibara is just fine, or Elegede.

Abagworo: This list is faulty. Lagos position is unarguable but 2nd on that list should be Anambra. 3rd should be Imo and 4th Rivers State. When you check the population density if these States you won't help but acknowledge that fact. Oyo despite having the 3rd largest city and 9th largest city is full of empty land. I will do a bit of google earth to give a hint instead of mere assumption. And Ekiti has a higher population density than Ogun. Yet The former can not be said to be more urban than the latter. Your analysis is completely faulty. |

wristbangle: Yeah omoku is trying but we can't brush away bonny island, Onne and few others. To be honest PHC has really taken the wide margin dev of River state.
U are right about ogun state statistics.
About Osun, I feel they have more of developed towns not city per say except osogbo and Ile-ife. Ilesa, modakeke, Ila, owu, ede are towns. Bonny Island is NOT a city bros. It is just a small settlement with an expatriate camp. Think of it well, Only PH and Omoku are cities in rivers. Well sha. I believe we are on the same page with just slightly different ideas. |

wristbangle: I don't think Osun suppose to be on the list sir.
I think this is how the list suppose to look like
1. Lagos 2. FCT 3. Rivers 4. Ogun 5. Oyo 6. Anambra 7. Abia 8. Delta 9. Akwa Ibom 10. Kaduna Rivers can not come before Ogun. The reason I say that is because PH dominates the urban landscape of that state. The only other place trying there is Omoku. In Ogun Abeokuta has become nothing other than the Political capital, several other cities there are bubbling. Osun is a mostly urban state (going by the population of its urban centres, if we keep infrastructure/facilities criteria at bay) but if infrastructure/modernization is factored in, it MIGHT fall off the list. |

Travel › Re: 10 Most Urbanized States In Nigeria - Ovoko.com by scholes0(m): 3:05pm On Nov 16, 2016 |
wristbangle: The list is almost very correct but I think Oyo, Ogun and Rivers should be ahead of Anambra State.
Anambra has 3 basic cities (Awka, Nnewi and Ontisha) unlike Oyo which have Ibadan, Ogbomoso, Oyo and Saki, Ogun have Ijebu Ode, Sagamu, Abeokuta, Mowe-Ibafo, Agbara, Sango Ota while Rivers have PHC, Onne, Bonny Island, etc. Looking at the Industries, population, land mass, infrastructure and other factors, one will agree with me that Anambra supposed to be 6th or 7th on the list. A very Honest Submission. In My Opinion, 1- Lagos 2/3- Ogun 2/3- F.C.T 4 - Oyo 5 - Rivers 6 - Anambra 7 - Osun 8 - Delta 9 - Akwa Ibom 10 - Kaduna In general SE states tend to be denser settled that Western states, but is mostly comprised of village type settlement, but Western states are much more urbanized. with bigger urban centres acting as Urban nodes. On overall population SW states seem to have an edge and more populated on average, especially since Ogun, Lagos and Oyo have all zoomed off since the last population census. Three notoriously popular One city states in the South are Edo (benin), Imo (Owerri) and Cross River (Calabar) ---- lol In the North- Kano is notorious for being another one city state. |
