Will they use cooking gas, kerosene or firewood to cook the yam?
Where will the oil come from, then most importantly if this yam finishes, where will they get the next one?

EconomistXplain:
children complicate operation for kidnappers....they know sh will b found nd brought to safety...they wanted her to b safe
Nothing like that.
The kidnappers just didn't want to take the extra burden of going with a kid.
A child will cry out of hunger, fear and will succumb to things an adult will weather.
Can you keep a child for 3 days on only water or bread. What do you do to a child that keeps crying and throwing tantrums seeing what the parents are being subjected to,do you kill that child and risk damnation?
Many of these kidnappers despite their devilish acts are quite diabolical or spiritual. They would believe any harm that befalls a child in their care will turn back on them, their families and their mission.
So the safest option for them is to leave the child believing once traffic resumes people will see and rescue her.

tuoyoojo:
Kidnapping is now the new gold mine for criminals

Low risk

High reward

Very enticing for them

Except something is done to drastically discourage this act

Maybe firing squad

It would not stop
I bet you those that do it out of the desperation of the times would not be deterred by firing squad.
They would ask what is the difference between being killed by firing squad and being killed by hunger and hopelessness wrought by a leader?
The difference to them would be like that between half a dozen and 6.

When Nigerians are ready they know what to do to Tinubu.
We are not ready yet to take this nation out of the hands of leaders whose mission since 2015 has been to wreck this Nation with their crass incompetence and unimaginable corruption.

With the current severe economic crisis being witnessed, I personally would give anything to have the Goodluck Jonathan regime back in power today.

Apart for the insecurity lapses which we have all seen were deliberately crafted by Nigerians who wanted to make the country ungovernable during his time, things were a thousand times better.

APC has not shown capacity or competence in any area of govt in over 8 years.
Backward people.
So because Buhari was a disaster and Tinubu a nightmare, you now go back to Jonathan that was also incompetent?
The only reason GEJ is being thought highly of is because the 2 people after him have surpassed him in incompetence, bigotry and corruption.
Jonathan was not a competent leader despite the crass failures of PMB and baba blubalu

Sports › Re: Gary Neville Says Premier League Must Learn Officiating From AFCON by seborrhic: 12:11pm On Feb 10, 2024
There was one match the official refused to issue cards, even when the fouls committed looked like bookable offences.
But it made the game interesting and when you now looked back you realise the so called fouls were made to look more serious than it appeared because when the fouls weren't booked, you just find out that the thing you thought was serious was quite minor because the players just got up and continued playing without any problem.
In that particular match, assuming it was the premier league, half of the players would have collected at least a yellow card and 2 at least reds.
Then the man that handled Nigeria south Africa was so good and so calm despite the match changing decisions he was called to make.
Infact, referring in AFCON this year has been a revelation.
They have also in some matches not gone with VAR, something rare in Europe.
But the thing is if these same referees go to Europe and the premiership, the pressures from coaches and analysts to book almost every single fall and to always agree with var, would make them start refereeing rubbish.

Buhari was so bad,I already concluded that he IS the worst president Nigeria will EVER produce. To the extent,I in all honesty believed that even a monkey sitting in Aso Rock, being called a president and just doing whatever monkeys do and say, would have led Nigeria better than Buhari did.He was that horrible in my opinion.
I never in my wildest dreams thought an animal, talkless of another living human being, would surpass Buhari in utterly ruining a country.
Tinubu has proved in just 8 months everything I thought about the sheer, unimagined capacity for a president to perform so poorly that he has surpassed who I thought would ever be the worse president, Buhari.
It's unbelievable,in just 8months!

Confession time.
I have said it that even in the US and the most advanced countries in the world, with average incomes 500 times our own and able to afford basic life needs,if fuel price had gone up and their currency devalued, both at the same time, there would have been riots in their streets because of the effect it would have on everyone.
But here,a balablu wanted to act Jackie Chan, thought he was knowledgeable when he has been found to be empty or at best sawdust brain filled;went ahead to announce both measures on his first day in office.
And like all empty brained people, when the effects of what they do or their policies start going awry, they look lost and clueless or what next to do.
This is the sad situation of our life today with Tinubu.

If Obi or Atiku had won and dollar was not coming down from 650 baba Blu met it,or rice price stagnated at 35k and a kg of cooking gas remained at 700/kg,all the imps and the other gullibles now trying to defend Tinubu would have filled our ears with how Nigeria lost the golden chance to elect Tinubu who would have made ₦1=$1,Petrol ₦300/litre,cooking gas ₦100/kg and bag of rice ₦28k per 50kg.
Just like Buhari was exposed to be an incompetent, fraudulent scam,so baba Blu is being exposed to not just lacking capacity to govern, but being an upgraded scam of a leader.

I earlier complained how my boss is maltreating and abusing me without payment even when I told him I need my so called salary to enable me go to hospital for check up but he traveled without a word to me.

How do I survive in this kind of economy?
The greatest facilitator of the horrible leadership we have over the years has been the docility of Nigerians and them not holding leaders accountable even in the face of death!
Imagine some people saying certain regions should not join in any demonstration because others were warned about Tinubu.
That even if fuel is 2000 and rice 5000,they would survive.
Meanwhile, everyone is being affected by the horrible leadership of Tinubu.
The only way to stem this slide to doom is to confront the goverment head on,by people coming out to say enough is enough of the abject leadership, that if things don't improve and very soon,he should resign.
Even if another person comes in and fails, the same process is repeated till we get it right.
The way Tinubu is ruling and everyone is seemingly keeping quiet,it's like one being on a rail track, seeing an upcoming train and yet held on the track by an invisible force!
The only language that Nigerian governments understand that usually gets the country at least manageable leadership Nigerian is that of demonstration and protests.
This time educated, middle class people of all shades would join the common folks because this is crass failure of leadership that is pushing many people into the incoming train.

Politics › Re: As A President, How Would You Have Handled The Current Economy Crisis? by seborrhic: 10:46pm On Feb 07, 2024
Print more money.
Redenominate the Naira by removing 3 zeroes, increase salaries across board by 100% from the lowest cadre to 25% for the highest cadre, then find ways to enable the private sector to also meet up with the salary increase.
This unfortunately can only be achieved by printing more money because no matter whatever is done prices can never go down, inflation can never go down.
Meanwhile you freeze rent, electricity and cooking gas price increase.
When you have done the above that can take up to 1 year and the purchasing power of Nigerians has significantly improved you then start tackling the micro and macro economic parameters that brought us to this sorry state.
But if the purchasing power of Nigerians don't improve and significantly soon, then you will enter into economic contraction,a state of affairs worse than inflation and at that point a $ will be exchanging for ₦10,000 and not just the economy, but the goverment and country will all collapse!

Tinubu maynot finish his first tenure if he doesn't sit down and think of the way out of the s tupidity and naivety in governance has cost.Mr "fuel subsidy is gone",without a concrete plan.
Every adult knows that in Nigeria even if you increase petrol price by ₦10 or even ₦5,transporters and all manners of people will increase their prices. You know increase it by 100% in one fell swoop and to make a tragic situation fatal,he devalued the ₦ at the same time!
He is lucky he met a highly compromised labour leadership if not this country would have been made ungovernable since last year for him.
I have been advocating that everyday for the next few weeks or months on a regular if not daily basis the entire chiefs and entire economic team be seen meeting with him in Aso Rock.
He still feels this will pass just like Nigerians tolerated Buhari for 8 years.
The difference in this case is that the suffering is drastic and massive and it's not a northerner in power.

Rice from 35k to 65k within a space of less than 8months.

We're fortunate in that most of our food items are locally grown so people can still eat and survive. The pinch is felt more in terms of transport and luxuries.
That's rubbish.
Nobody is complaining about scarcity of food.
The problem is that it's unaffordable!
Rice, garri, beans, yams, potato, plantain, palm oil are all produced in Nigeria,it's the price that is being talked about not whether it's grown in Kafanchan or San Francisco!!
Politics › Re: Government To Release Food Items From Reserves To Crash Prices by seborrhic: 10:03am On Feb 07, 2024
How can food prices crash when transport cost is on the high side due to deregulated fuel price?
How can food prices crash when naira is 1500 to a dollar because there is a food delivery chain that are linked to the naira value.
How can food prices crash when the goods have to pass through various LG touts that collect all sorts of levies, that they have even increased?
When you deliver the food, even assuming it's at the price they want to crash, how will it be cooked when gas price has increased to 1200?
These people are just clowns that don't know what they are doing and this road of releasing food from the reserves to bring down prices was passed by Buhari several times without any impact, instead cost of food and living continued their steep rise.
Doing the same thing several times over and expecting a different result is s tupidity.

Rutherford2019:
Kperogi is one of the hypocritical writers in Nigeria
Buid up to 2023 elections he said unequivocally 'agreement is agreement and buhari must honor his agreement with Tinubu '
Ladies and gentlemen..the north is dying and suffering
My elder brother lives in the northern part of Nigeria..just last December he told me that he has never seen the type of hardship and suffering going on in the north at the moment..
For me I fear that people may start eating grass before the 4yrs run out..
Kperogi is angry because north is in excruciating hunger and there's no end in sight
When PO said he would fight poverty starting from the north they said he is insulting them but he didn't waste time to back it up with statistics
The truth is that 90% of Igbo and Yoruba families have someone living abroad who can help out in bad time so the dependent on Nigeria is less but 90% of northern people depend on the Nigerian government..if Nigeria works well they'll benefit more..
Many people don't know that the money Igbos make don't come from Nigeria
4 yrs have not started
Gird your loins folks
What's your point?
Even if he said what you posted, does it now mean because he said that he should watch his people suffer and in severe hardship without saying anything just because he initially supported Tinubu?
So if Obi had won and things are not going well you would have kept quiet?
Obi for even some of us that supported him won't have turned things right overnight;but the one difference I see is that with Obi things won't have reached this terrible level and he would have been working day and night to find a way to improve things.
There is no hiding the fact that what got us here is the horrible idea the baba blubalu had that he could in one swoop remove fuel subsidy and devalue the Naira.
Either one of these on their own would have been fatal,to now announce both measures from your day 1 was like the policies of a mentally retarded leader.
He has to find a way out or lest I don't see the goverment lasting 4 years.
I also maintain that the worsening insecurity and kidnappings are a result of the terrible economic situation.
Politics › Re: "The Hardship Is Too Much": Protests Erupt In Minna by seborrhic: 11:09am On Feb 05, 2024
It started with Kano bread sellers and now this, before you know it the whole North would be engulfed in protest and if the security agencies and goverment miscalculate in their response the whole country will be in turmoil.
The hardship is just too much.
The fatal error was fuel subsidy removal and Naira devaluation without deep thought of the consequences and safety measures.
The goverment should pray and hope it doesn't engulf the entire North, the region that ironically is the only one that can make the government sit up because once you handle them with the same harsh, brutal tactics you employ in the SOuth particularly the SW and SE,you unleash more anger and mayhem.

Very soon 2027 will come and you will still see most of the protesters that will still vote for APC and this same wicked government for just 1k, maggi, and packet of salt.
The thing is I honestly don't see this goverment lasting till 2027 with the way things are going.
Imagine, even me I am seething with anger here, there has not been light for 2 days and I am expected to buy fuel in a harsh business environment where very little,if anything is coming in.
Assuming I am not composed due to education,do u think I won't join such mass protest in my area?
The hardship, unlike in previous goverments cannot be endured till 2027,it's too much, that is why this case is different.
Fuel very high, naira devalued causing further severe rise in prices of goods and services.
The transport cost alone that has risen by 100% at least has further affected virtually anything and anybody that moves.
