@rebekah, you always mention debts, which company does not have? Moreso how much at the end of q3 2019. tell sir grin

See reduction in OPEX. I am even expecting a buy back from WAPCO grin

rebekah2011:
Special dividend would have been possible if the company is liquid in cash. The company still has debts and it will not be wise to go borrowing to pay dividend.

Bomboclad:
So let me say something on WAPCO for those that ain't sure whats going on.

First of all, if you are still in the WAPCO bus, then my advice at this time is - DO NOT SELL till you see the YE result, which should be out soon

Secondly, when i look at my charts, I see WAPCO bounced off the last support @ N9.00 and is currently @ N9.30. From this point, it could either hover between these prices or move up. It would be unprecedented for the price to go below N9.00 substantially but who knows!

3Q EPS stands @ N1.28k, and there is a projection that the company performed much better in 4Q, 2019.

The monthly chart indicates a positive divergence. Till we see 4Q result, nothing would make sense anyways. These are my thoughts but its up to YOU.

We can not use today price to judge any company. It is not fair. However, I dont like this company again despite my stake there.
Management of information seems poor. There could be some underline problems. Where is their 2019 year end report? Moreso no comments to stake holders. This is awry huh
kampower:
On that day, the price of WAPCO was N43.20 and today it is N9.50. Growing up, there was a popular commercial by a Nigerian bank that ends with" Big, Strong, Reliable. Lafarge Africa (WAPCO) is big, not strong and history says is an unreliable investment with unreliable earnings releases.

Good, we still have our major issues at hand.

1. Containment of COVID-19
2. Price of Oil

Above could lead to recession ,if things go out of hands.
then expect prices to seriously fall further. sad

Anyway if bottom or not. At this junction marging of safety is quite large.
Buy fundamentally strong stocks and hold. Nobody can guaranty sudden move up,

USD is deprecating fast in EMs. And stocks are gaining.

I am thinking that most stocks may have reached their bottom on NSE. Except if FPIs are telling Meffy to devalue more. That I don't know.

God safe our country! our disobedience does not have part 2 grin
onegentleguy:
Dear all,

It's extremely important to obey the orders from the government and regulatory authorities and to adhere strictly to the instructions from medical practitioners accross the globe.

As at Feb. 23rd, exactly a month ago, Italy had only 5 cases of the covid-19 virus confirmed and zero/no death.
The Italian Govt gave a stay at home order and people disobeyed.
Fast forward to 30days down the line, and the same country now has over 60,000 cases and 5,400 deaths.

There is a price to pay for every disobedience.
As Nigerians, we must learn from this and obey simple rules.
Above everything else, HEALTH MUST BE GIVEN TOPMOST PRIORITY !!

We must protect ourselves and others and the time to do so is NOW !!

PLEASE ENDEAVOUR TO STAY SAFE !!

Food for Thought:

With the Corona virus pandemic causing mass layoffs and record unemployment, it’s clear that recession 2020 has already begun. This post will outline everything that I’m personally doing to prepare for this downturn.

First off, this is my 3rd recession. In my adult life, I’ve had the misfortune of living through 2 other downturns in 2002 and 2008. And during my first financial crisis, I was paralyzed in fear.

While everything was crashing all around me, I hesitated and made wrong, emotional decisions out of panic.

In 2002, I sat there on the sidelines and watched my stock portfolio plummet to less than 50% of its original value.

And because I couldn’t handle the pain, I sold many stocks at their lowest point, stayed in cash and proceeded to miss the multi-year bull market that came after.

Following the 2008 crash, I was determined to not make the same mistake as 2002 so I bought a bunch of stocks and held onto them to make a decent profit.

During this period, I also started both of my businesses, Bumblebee Linens and MyWifeQuitHerJob, because I was determined to become financially free and not depend on my day job income ever again.

Looking back, I never felt more helpless than when I was working for the man because I had no control.

I still remember when everyone at my company was terrified of getting laid off.
I still remember when many of my close friends got the ax.
I still remember when I couldn’t sleep at night and I lived in constant fear of losing my job. It sucked.

But fast forward to recession 2020, I’ve got a lot more experience under my belt and this time, I plan to act rationally.

If I am to go by interpreting charts o, banks should start to fly by tomorrow. 10 10 percent rise. Where there is maximum fear, the bull lurks around.

There are 2 final supports for Zee.... N10.7 and N9.0. If there is a reversal tomorrow, then all is well. Else, it might be heading for the last support of N9.0 as stated. Either ways, I shall average down from current price, as I still have firepower.

very soon the feeling of remorse would set in. I advice all keep your cash. The market if left opened would go down seriously.

Lagos may enter lock down earlier than you think. I am not a prophet of doom. We all can see, we are just not prepared. It is sad :- [
Bomboclad:
Happily joined Zee this morning @ N10.85. Whether it goes down or not is left to Madam Corona, but i am glad to be in.

ZEEEE is at it now. N5 could still be too high. Pray for Nigeria. :-

Our poeple are living carelessly. The street is full of dance and operating club house. The level of literacy is too low.

I strolled out in PHC yesterday, people seem to care less.[
RabbiDoracle:
My point is Zenith at 10.85 (last low) has not been seen again. Until that happens, then I will know that there is a possibility of a lower low.

It closed 11.85 on Friday. I will wait to see if it can be offered at 10.70 today (full offer).

longlife20:
zenithbank has sold over 1.669billion shares from 11th March 2020 till date, why guaranty has sold over 1.054billion shares for the same period. what zenith sold for 7days is on the average what they normally sell for a month and guaranty for two months. some are still afraid to buy at this price and some are busy buying. las las we will know who took the best decision.

Response unnecessary Sir. grin. Good work Oracle.
Marlianvestor:
Haba Oga! That statement dey one kind! Kilode? huh Literally, it might mean nothing to you, but connotatively it means a lot to we Christians on this platform. And I know deep down you know... It was just totally unnecessary in the context you used it esp in rightly predicting procedural steps, policy makers/govt naturally follow when mkt is seriously tanking. It's just check-list-esque! Same used during 2008 liquidity crisis - TRAP stimulus package, Short-selling ban, money printing, asset-buyback etc, then inflation sets in, back to square one.

That's not the point though! Let's just be sensitive to other people's feelings, way of life etc (even if you don't approve of it) and where we need to show restraint when spewing words, let's us show it. Though faceless platform, but still a community with followership.

As our in-house Pastor said (though surprised by his levity re. his reaction), that statement has pride written all over it, but I'm hoping I am proved wrong. Really hoping! Regardless...

What about AIICO. Valuation mode will be used not market price. grin
The Market price could actually be low to what fair valuation is. See Dangote Flour grin
yMcy56:
I said it that the current market price is on the high side too.
Imagine Union Bank trading higher than the likes of UBA. grin
InvestmentRe: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by sellydion: 3:52pm On Mar 17, 2020
It would be better if both return to fair value. Although nothing perfect.

Investment bankers and consultants will do their plus and minus. QED cheesy
yMcy56:
Offer was available for UBN since and the bid not that heavy nah.
UBN price didn't change much also cos it looks high already self. For them to consider that price, Zenith needs to move back to the 17/18 region or they beat down the price of Union like you said.
Anyway we see how it goes.....

Synchronized releases to the Exchange. They are trying very hard not to lie as in the Access/Diamond Merger. Truly they may not have submitted or received a "Binding Offer" as such is usually submitted after a due diligence exercise.

What is submitted first of all is a "Conditional, non binding offer".
