Is the water clean? Water seems to be the only thing linking all the students apart from air. Is the staff quarters also affected?

If the water isnt clear, the civil eng'g dept ( that studies the dam, water and wastewater treatment plants) should be made use of.

If the water is a little unclear/ cloudy, they should check for alum overdose. They can carry out jar tests if necessary. If alum is overdosed in water, the coagulation doesn't settle well, hence the unclear water. Alum is a sulphate and in large quanites can cause sickness in those who consume the water.

If its the alum dosage then its a double jeopardy cos alum is being wasted with its overdose causing sickness. The guys at the dam can quickly rectify this though.

The Op isnt lieing. Have been in search for fuel in lagos for 3 days now, all petrol stations with que, the whole isolo, ago, ikotun region long que everywhere, was i. Ikeja yesterday, from ikeja down to oshodi, que was seen though not very long, but must petrol stations didnt hav fuel.
I'm not saying he's lying about the queues, just that the panic buying usbt necessary just yet. I saw the queues too. But if you look in the right places, you'll still find fuel.

Stations in majorly domestic areas will be the first to have queues cos people coming our of their homes can easily branch and queue. But the stations at those industrial areas will have lower queues on weekends and during working hours - until real fuel scarcity kicks in.
Politics › Re: Long Queue This Morning At Mobil Filling-Station Akowonjo Lagos - Pics by semitunde: 4:42pm On Feb 27, 2016
Don't know why people like to create unnecessary panic.

I saw the queue while leaving home this morning. Had low fuel and was going to Agidingbi Ikeja. I was super sure that unless the two nnpc filling station along Oregun didn't open, they would have fuel with little or no queue.

I was right. No queue, not even jerrycan queue.

Bought at the normal N86/L and left in 5mins.

If I was really panicky, I'd have queued and sweated for hours to buy for probably N100.

Moral: look for filling stations in industrial areas, they usually have lesser queues and they are the true indicators of fuel scarcity ( or absence of).

Not true, IPOB through their global Radio Broadcast last night labelled the Ohaneze spokes boy, Isiguzoro, persona non grata.

It was further revealed that the boy Isiguzoro is not even a member of IPOB. We also learnt he and one old rag called Chief Joe Nworgu presented themselves as IPOB executives and hijacked the visiting Americans who came to ascertain the true situation. The result of three months of intense bombardment of US lawmakers with telephone calls by IPOB worldwide.

And in return, they were rewarded handsomely with some amount of money by the FG agents.

We also learnt that all calls put to Isiguzoro were not picked. He has switched off his phone and went into hiding.

This is what is currently happening. Terrible impersonation.
But aren't they also Biafrans whom you want to share your country with? People who might even be the ones ruling you?

You are speaking from a position of ignorance.

A lot of companies with foreigners ( apart from multinational coys) are actually low key owned by Nigerians. Else many of them won't survive the business environment.

I can't find the kitchen or is it just my eyes?

Also one of the rooms there could have had its walls to an adjoining space collapsed for a walk in closet and master bedroom; or make it an ensuite master bedroom toilet/bathroom.

Why do Nigerians always create the impression that we hate South African owned firms?

Consat belongs to Tinubu, but hey! They won't say anything about his rates. It's always DSTV.

I wrote this on another thread. I think some of it can be useful here too:

OK so, granted a lot of people here are salary earners and hustlers with little idea of how to run organizations and companies.

Some here have consistently, ignorantly argued that Kemi adeosun the finance minister, is responsible for everything from the budget brouhaha to the falling naira in her 3months in office. This is unfortunate and a poor reflection of the intelligence and quest for knowledge, of such people.

I'll try to make this simple:

I have been on a project that was grossly undervalued. Apparently the QS office of a Lagos State ministry didn't wait for the structural drawings of the said project and simply used the architectural drawing in drawing their BOQ.

The project was a fixed one and hence not subject to additional cost. We as contractors then had to itemise the areas of increased scope/costs and tabled our grievances with the commissioner. He promptly called an all stakeholders' meeting that included the QS office, Structural consultants and Architecture office.

The ministry's finance office was never called simply because there was little or no link with it. It was later settled with the Q.S office doing a value engineering work on the BOQ. Some officers in the BOQ office were also queried.

The Bill of Quantities(BOQ) coming from a Quantity Surveying (QS) office is akin to the budget of a country coming from the budget office, which again ( as if for emphasis) is under the ministry of Budget and Planning!

As for the falling naira, it has externally influenced factors like the fall in oil prices and the fact that Iran has started selling again. The economics of how we deal with it is now more in the hands of the CBN governor ( under the influence of the president and somewhat inputs of the ministry of finance; and probably all other ministries).

Unfortunately, Ngozi Iweala, who was a coordinating minister of the economy ( almost the powers of the president); at a time when we were having an oil boom couldn't do the simplest economics- save for the rainy day! The new ministers and govt are still trying to get out of the shithole she and the previous govt got us into.

If NOI was that good and upright;

Why was she transfered to ministry of external affairs from finance under obasanjo?

Why was she angling for the MD position of World Bank while still the finance minister of a whole country ( talk less of the economic coordinator)? She found no joy in her work? She realised the niaja ship she was sailing was sinking and wanted to elope?

Pls, enough about NOI and the current ministry of finance hate. We were all alive and knew what went on before now. Nigeria is actually getting better.

opalu:
@Topic
Every Site has its own peculiarities. And as a Structural Engineer, I would need to examine yours before diagnose what type of foundation is best suited. Just as doctors can't use a single symptom to judge the type of drug, likewise it's wrong for any Professional in this field to use the word Swampy to judge the foundation type.
Therefore you will need a competent Structural Specialist to check it out and give you expert opinion. He may likely advise a soil test if he deems necessary.

@ALL

I usually advise my clients especially those about to purchase land for building project to go with an expert. You don't just carry a lawyer to look at the land and look at the neighbouring houses and the title documents and conclude it is a good deal. All those are proper but you need an Expert eye that can see many things you can't see.

Due to the recurrent issues of foundation that I receive year in year out, I categorised lands for building into 4 groups. I can only explain 2 and you will understand the rest
1.
I Second this. Not only are the soil of different areas unique, the factors that affect them ( e.g. rain, water table or broken water mains for a water logged area) can also make profferred solutions unique to the area. Also the type of building you want to have now and in future on it will be taken into consideration.

Giving you solutions online for it will trial by error.

Get a civil or structural ENGR. If you don't have one now, make one your friend or hire. Take him to the site for assessment. If he needs to get a soil test for it he'll tell you ( some can actually assess and tell what kind of foundation that would be applicable without a test based on intelligence and experience). But avoiding both the ENGR and the soil test is inadvisable for your site.

People need to start having engrs as friends. Even if he's a Mechanical or Electrical ENGR ( who actually studied these courses) he'll know the right person to contact for you cos many work together and have links among themselves.
Politics › Re: FG Will Not Remove Oil Subsidy In 2016 – Minister by semitunde: 3:33pm On Feb 19, 2016
What the minister is saying is that the government isn't paying any subsidy. But that the philosophy of subsidizing hasn't changed yet.

Meaning that if there's a need to subsidize, e.g. if the prices are too high for the common man, the govt would subsidize.

Subsidy isn't the evil. Just like guns, its the people who miss-apply it that are at fault.
