Welcome to Nairaland, Femi. Long time no see! |
jclord: thanks for your suggestions. I think that by browsing the forum you will agree with me that there is much more going on in Nigeria than the bad things reported by the foreign press. |
My quick comments:
[li]Thanks a million for your suggestions. I really appreciate your willingness to help. [li] This is a surprising request, but I can set up the server so username@nairaland.com redirects to your registered email address. http://username.nairaland.com can also redirect to your web page.[/li] [li]No, I do not think Nairaland should become a "portal". Portals are so 1997, Google.com is in.[/li] [li]Yes, this site needs multiple moderators but this can only happen if the rules are unambigous[/li] [li]If the moderators are the armed forces, can we have legislators and judges too?[/li] [li]Articles: Are www.naijarita.com articles publishable in Nigerian papers?[/li]
|
Dear Nairaland User, I am concerned about Nairaland. Of recent we have been growing very strongly with 100 or more new members and almost 2000 posts daily, and on our way to recognition as a web phenomenom. We have more traffic than perhaps every other Nigerian forum, but not as much traffic as Nigerian news and newspaper websites like NigeriaWorld and SunNewsOnline. I am convinced that he system that has been used to manage this site to this level of growth seems to have reached its limit. It cannot take us to the next level. Moderation of the forum is very annoying, as we have new members and even the oldies making the same mistakes and violating the same rules over and over again. We can't handle the current inflow of members properly, and yet we want more traffic. I would like us to discuss how we can take Nairaland to the next level: 50,000 members, and maybe 1000 logged in users per day. I would like us to raise various issues involved in this quest such as the forum interface and features, moderation policies, marketing, public relations, et cetera. This is not a thread for personal attacks or the airing of grievances, but a place to give constructive and progrssive suggestions. In particular let us first of all explore the concepts of democracy and separation of powers and see if we can apply it to this forum, because I know that if we can create a democratic forum then we would be unstoppable. What do you think? Dictatorship is lonely. ![]() |

Laura Bush welcome o. So what did you come to Nigeria for? |

Can a leopard change its stripes? I don't think so! It won't be easy for a man who is used to sampling many women to suddenly change his mind and settle down with one woman for ever! Woman always like to think that they can tame a wild man but it is just wishful thinking. |
"It is reported that Whot! has become the national card game of Nigeria, and that cards are also made locally for the game." http://pagat.com/com/whot.html Rules Of Nigerian Whot: http://pagat.com/com/whot.html#nigerian |
No compromise, no relationship. I have already learnt that one. |
Sorry, this thread is now closed as I have run out of time! |
It sure is addictive, mmomi. Welcome to Nairaland! Check out I Love Nairaland Because. |
I know some Naija women that are taking matters into their own hands, and going back home to handpick their men.Somebody say amen! I am a single and available Nigerian man ripe for handpicking! ![]() |
Just Negotiate with the Indian software developer you're dealing with, and try to pay him what he'll have been paid working at home plus 10%. |
Hello Naijacutie, Thanks so much for your kind words about Nigeria itself and Nairaland. Welcome, welcome, welcome! Seun. |
If you are interested in a good marriage, follow my advice. If your main concern is your pride, usse their advice. But if you ask them you will discover that if they are married they may not be happily married. Sometimes in life you have to choose between your happiness and stupid pride. I prefer happiness. |
THis has already been covered in several other posts. |
Are you only interested in knowing whose "fault" it is that your sister is in love with this man, or do you want to be adviced on how to solve the problem? |
The so-called health benefits are bogus. It's usually done simply because it has always been done that way. |
You can't have "employment, good roads, spillage control, health facilities, education grants and community development" when your youths are busy kidnapping innocent workers and blowing up oil pipelines. Who will want to invest in such a volatile place apart from the oil companies? |
You can't expect her to be happy when her blood sister doesn't have anywhere to stay with her four children. I think all you need in this case is to give in a little bit and take in one or two of the four kids into your home so your wife will be able to say, "at least we tried". Isn't it ironic that in the bid to "maintain the peace" in your home by not accepting your wife's sister you no longer have that peace? Compromise is the answer, my brother. Give your wife a reason to be a little bit happy with you. You don't have to take in the troublesome woman, but you can accept some of her kids. Your darling wife would most likely be the one to take care of them. |
Nice topic. If NIPOST can deliver packages more quickly than it does now, I will be very happy! Especially international packages. |
Source, please! |
Layi, don't you want me to learn adsense secrets from you? |
The case has been resolved. The girls called the hotline and the boy is in a correctional facility while the girl is in a protection programme. I don't know what to say. |
