RomanceRe: [poll] Would You Prefer to Marry a Virgin? by Seun(mod):
[s]
jogego: Imagine what happens when a docile person marries anadventurous person. You think things would work out?
When a docile person meets an adventurous person, they will communicate their preferences to each other, evaluate the similarities and differences in their tastes, and negotiate for a mutually agreeable resolution. It's not only in the bedroom that, as a married person, you sometimes have to try something new just to please your partner.

And nothing stops people who are planning to get married from openly discussing their preferences before marriage. Nothing stops you a young man from saying, "my dear, I am wild o. I have been watching these dirty films, and I want to reproduce all their stunts in our bedroom when we get married. What do you think?" And if she says, "over my dead body; we only need to make lov when we're trying to have children" then you know you have a problem.

Let's face it, a virgin cannot instantaneously become too wild and adventurous for his wife to adjust to if her first night is also his first night. Let both of them learn together, and together let them become as wild or docile as they want to be. Simple communication is the answer, not premarital sex![/s]

Update on 11th September 2015: I believe in safe premarital sex now.

jogego:
Sexual compatibility is a very very important part of marriage.
For goodness' sake, what is the meaning of this "sexual compatibility" you keep talking about? As long as the husband's body is complete and the wife's body is complete and they know what they need to do to get the pleasure they are looking for, they are sexually compatible. Please stop spreading this dangerous myth of sexual compatibility. I've had enough![/s]
I have changed my mind. Sexual compatibility is real.

jogego if all guy should reject virgin girl, pinky and I are in a big mess coz we won't get guy to marry us
First of all, jogego and obong (the anti-virginity campaigners grin) are both based abroad, so they might have been influenced by western cultures.

Secondly, as a virgin you can always get disvirgined any time you like, but someone who is not a virgin cannot 'take back' her virginity. So think it is better to hold on to it and give yourself the opportunity of a future with both the men who prefer virgins and the men who claim that they don't. it is better to keep your options open!
ComputersRe: I need a Internet connection by Seun(mod): 12:25pm On Jun 15, 2005
Hello Eddy,

We're happy to have you here on Nairaland!

The Starcomms Internet service works just like the Multilinks service you're currently using, so you shouldn't waste any time investigating it.

As for DirectOnPC, my experience has been that their customers don't have anything good to say about them tongue.

The Netcom Internet service offer looks good on paper, but there's one phrase on the My Netcom page that gives them away. It's the phrase "Shared Bandwidth". In Nigerian ISP circles, this simply means that you won't know what you're getting until you try it out, and the quoted bandwidth figures are all made up.

What we need to do is look for current customers of Cobranet and My Netcom and enquire about their experience so far. I have a good feeling about My Netcom, but this is the first time I'm learning about Cobranet.

Regards,
Seun.
Romance[poll] Would You Prefer to Marry a Virgin? by Seun(mod): 11:58am On Jun 15, 2005
For the Men:
You are 'in love' with two girls and they both would like to marry you. One of them is a virgin and has sworn not to have sex with anybody before marriage, including you. The other has done it with previous boyfriend(s) and is happy to do it with you. In all other respects, the two girls are exactly alike. Which one would you marry?

For the Women:
Two realy close male friends are proposing marriage to you. They are exactly alike except that one of them doesn't believe in premarital sex and would not 'do it' with you until you're married. The other one has done it with other girl(s) and is ready to do it with you if you'll allow it. Which marriage proposal would you accept?

Please login and vote in the poll attached to this topic. Thanks.
BusinessRe: MTN Made 65 Billion Naira Profit (April 2004 to March 2005) by Seun(mod): 11:35am On Jun 15, 2005
whizkid: That is a lot of money and it is even tax free for now
"Although it continued to enjoy tax holiday in Nigeria, MTN Nigeria said in the period under review, it made payments in excess of 34.8 billion naira in the form of taxes, duties, license fees and similar statutory payments to government at different levels. It also paid 14.2 billion naira in import duties and 9.8 billion naira in VAT."

So the 65 billion naira was not entirely free of government taxes and levies.

I support people who are coming back to Nigeria to create jobs for people, but I don't know what to say about people who are coming back to Nigeria to take jobs from people!
RomanceRe: Can old lovers (now married) come back together? by Seun(mod): 11:12am On Jun 15, 2005
No, they can't come back together if they are both married. The answer is so obvious!

What argument did your friends use to support the notion that such old friends can come back together?

PoliticsRe: 1,000 Naira Note: Will there be inflation? by Seun(mod): 10:52am On Jun 15, 2005
Are you saying that inflation will be reduced if the 500, 200 and 100 naira notes in circulation were withdrawn from circulation? That is so absurd!

The idea that introduction of currency notes can or will cause inflation is so wrong that I don't know where to begin with refuting it. Is there anyone up to the task? huh
BusinessNigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) Employee Interview by Seun(mod): 10:41am On Jun 15, 2005
The Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission, NIPC, was established by Decree number 16 of 1995, during the administration of the late General Sani Abacha. It bills itself as 'the one-stop-shop for exploring and planning foreign investment and new business in Nigeria' (see about NIPC).

(For investment assistance, send e-mail to nipc@nipc-nigeria.org, or check out their website at www.nipc-ng.org)

Na mi o, a member of this forum, is an Investment Officer at the commission. Here is an excerpt from a recent conversation we had:

Seun: What does the NIPC do?

Na mi o
: The Agency's mandate is to facilitate foreign investments and advocate on behalf of foreign investors in the areas of favourable government policies. We help to create a friendly investment climate so that investors can see Nigeria as an investment haven.

Seun
: How does what you do affect an average worker who has maybe just 50,000 naira in savings?

Na mi o: What we do affects the Nation as a whole in the sence that when foreigners invest (foreign Direct Investment), and this brings in Dollars which translates into the Nations GDP.

Take the example of a foreigner who comes and starts a refinery in your state (Ondo?) Of cos a lot of people would be employed in that company and we would not need to import refined oil

This NIPC investment officer has agreed to a formal interview to be published on this forum to enlighten the readers of Nairaland.com on issues relating to investment in Nigeria and the work of the NIPC in particular. What questions would you like us to ask her on your behalf?

EducationRe: Covenant University by Seun(mod): 5:56pm On Jun 14, 2005
In answer to jogego:
Ok, I'm going to repeat it for the third and last time. Covenant University admits those who can afford the money. So instead of using the money to bribe JAMB officials and admission officers of federal and state universities, they can use the money to send their children to private schools.

Each "rich kid" that is admitted into a private university frees up space in the public universities. The end result is that more of the 'poor' kids will be able to make the cut-off marks for their federal/state universities of choice and get educated. That is how covenant university helps 'the masses' who can't afford 250,000 per annum.

You would be surprisd at how many working class people can afford 250,000 per annum (21,000 naira a month, jogego. $148). Considering the fact that Internet access at modem speed costs 15,000 a month, I'd say 21,000 per month for quality university education is pretty cheap.

Finally, since I won't get 10 kobo if you decide to send someone you know to the university, I am not going to discuss the topic any further. I have a relative who schools at the university, and I commend what they are doing.

IAH: Prior to the establishment of these private universities, many more people had to sit at home!
EducationRe: Covenant University by Seun(mod): 5:37pm On Jun 14, 2005
Jogego, I don't think it's reasonable for anyone to be campaigning against the private universities we have when we actually need to have more. Covenant University could increase their fees and still be fully booked, because the demand for quality university education still exceeds supply by far.

I will keep repeating this until it sinks in: the very worst that could happen is that the 'rich' people will go to private universities thus freeing up space for the 'poor' people to attend the federal universities. Nobody loses, therefore any complaint about the establishment of private universities like Covenant University is not logical.

Nobody is forcing anybody to attend Covenant University. If anyone feels that the fee is to much, please let the person go ahead and keep re-taking JAMB until he/she is finally admitted into a federal of state university of choice. If indeed the fee was too much then the university will be under-patronized, which wil force them to reduce the price. Expensive education is better than no education.

IAH, based on what I know, Covenant University is better than Babcock, in terms of the infrastructure that is on ground to facilitate learning. But even Babcock is better than sitting at home.

Nairaland GeneralRe: [please vote] Nairaland Sections that Should Be Developed more by Seun(mod): 2:17pm On Jun 14, 2005
Na mi o,

I would not lock the other sections but I will spend time to look for ways to increase the activity level on the sections you choose. This may mean posting new topics or motivating people who are interested in these topics to post more.

Mosiate,

I agree that the home page can do with a little more 'spice', since you're not the first person to mention it. This could be dealt with when we have more money to work with. I also agree that the entertainment section could do with more development but the reason for this poll is to see if other people feel the same way about it.

Chawkee,

The poll results are going to be used to determine which sections the administrator should focus his limited time and resources on for the next few weeks. Your 'quality, instead of quantity' comment has been noted and will be taken seriously.
EducationRe: Covenant University by Seun(mod): 2:02pm On Jun 14, 2005
If the 'rich people' who can pay 250,000 per annum are able to send their children into Covenant University instead of using the money to bribe university decision-makers to admit their children, this will free up space in the federal and state universities for the 'average' people who cannot afford 250,000 per year. The only way to make the prices go down beyond was they are now is to license so many private universities that price competition will be ignited.

Having said that, wouldn't rather pay 200 - 250,000 per annum to be educated than sit at home for an indefinite period of time or spend 6-7 years on a 4 year course in an under-funded, over-crowded university where you are not able to gain any form of practical experience?

There is no way in hell that people of the North or even the South West will allow the Easterners to leave with our oil. It's just not going to happen. So those who are calling for seccesion are calling for the sacrifice of millions of lives and for what purpose?

Once they succeed in breaking away from us they will start fighting among their subgroups for the same issues - who controls the oil. So they won't know peace for decades and the effect of the war will be there for many decades after. it is just not worth it. I, for one, love the Ibos a lot and I would hate to see them leave.
EducationRe: Covenant University by Seun(mod): 10:51am On Jun 14, 2005
Yes, but a 4 year course takes only 4 years, and not 6 like some other universities. Besides, when you've been waiting at home for years all of a sudden 250,000 doesn't seem like so much money anymore! It's a nice, cheap alternative to furthering your studies abroad.

I just want you to know that I am not endorsing this product. In a private conversation, the representative was not willing to answer the following questions:

- Can you give me the names of the NairaEx principals and basic details about them? For example, where they studied and worked before NairaEx. Where they reside?
- Can you tell me something about the designer of your site?
- Can you tell me the registered name of your company (in Nigeria) and the registration number?

The account I was supposed to use to test the product (as per his/her offer) was also deleted after I asked these questions. So beware.
