TV/MoviesShould Nigerian FilmMakers Make Short Films? by Seun(mod): 6:29pm On Jan 28, 2008
The common wisdom on film-making forums is that as a budding director or producer you need to make lots of short films to get yourself known so you can make feature length films later. Is this true in Nigeria?

I wrote a short movie recently for promotional purposes but the vibe I'm getting is that no Nigerian will act in a movie for free just because it's a noncommercial movie. Even those that can't act want to make money right away!

In such a climate, do shorts make sense? (One tip I got recently is to make short films that are really, really short and simple: one location, 2 actors, and about 5 minutes long. That makes the short film-making much more affordable.)

In addition, it also seeps some stored battery charge in the case of laptop systems. If you're not going to be using for a long while (days) it's best to just shut it down completely.
That's complete nonsense by the way.

get 2GB.
Great idea

How about Amazon.com, the largest e-retailer in the world? Self-publish your DVD with www.createspace.com and it can be listed on amazon.com. You'll have to convert to NTSC, though.

TV/MoviesRe: What Can Be Done To Improve Nigerian Movies? by Seun(mod): 9:44pm On Jan 23, 2008
Am thinking of doing my masters in design science(digital media) where i can learn how 2 do splendid animations like shrek and bee so as 2 bypass all this whole mess of no quality cameras , lightning, and all
The camera issue is not it at all. Under proper lighting, you don't need a great camera. The cameras they use have more resolution than your typical 21 inch TV set. But they have to reduce squeeze it down for VCD; maybe that is the real problem.

Animated film production using 3D isn't easy. You have to write a very good script. You have to assign facial expressions and physical gestures to each word or action in your movie. You have to get good voice actors, and that requires almost as much skill as actual acting. You have to add music, believable sound effects. Any one of these tasks alone can take years to master, but you have to be proficient at all. Not easy!

So it's not really easier than live-action movie production. Animated Hollywood movies cost about the same to make as blockbuster movies. Nothing in movie-making is easy. That's why we want suggestions and not condemnation. wink

Heh. Many people who are wild on the Internet are rather tame in person. Although, I don't think Razorr is one of those people. She just needs time to get used to the camera and we'll see red. wink

If that's true, then freedom fighters are over-rated. This has always been my belief,
but it never occurred to me to despise the famous Nelson Mandela as one of them. Sad.
Wasn't the struggle against apartheid won by non-violent means at the end of the day?
Foreign AffairsRe: Was Nelson Mandela A Terrorist? by Seun(mod): 10:57am On Jan 22, 2008
Wikipedia:

Guerrilla activities

In 1961, Mandela became the leader of the ANC's armed wing, Umkhonto we Sizwe (translated as Spear of the Nation, also abbreviated as MK), which he co-founded. He coordinated a sabotage campaign against military and government targets, and made plans for a possible guerrilla war if sabotage failed to end apartheid. A few decades later, MK did wage a guerrilla war against the regime, especially during the 1980s, in which many civilians were killed. Mandela also raised funds for MK abroad, and arranged for paramilitary training, visiting various African governments.

Mandela explains the move to embark on armed struggle as a last resort, when increasing repression and violence from the state convinced him that many years of non-violent protest against apartheid had achieved nothing and could not succeed.[6][2]

Mandela later admitted that the ANC, in its struggle against apartheid, also violated human rights
, and has sharply criticised attempts by parts of his party to remove statements supporting this fact from the reports of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.[7]

Terrorism, in the modern sense,[1] is violence, the threat of violence, or other harmful acts committed for political or ideological goals.[2] Most definitions of terrorism include only those acts which are intended to create fear (terror), are perpetrated for an ideological goal (as opposed to a lone attack), and deliberately target or disregard the safety of non-combatants (civilians). Many definitions also include only acts of unlawful violence.

Foreign AffairsWas Nelson Mandela A Terrorist? by Seun(mod): 10:47am On Jan 22, 2008
I stumbled upon this post on the Internet:
Nelson Mandela was a terrorist. He used arms struggle for making his point. He wanted the ruling British to talk with nationalist fighters – for peace. But British never agreed for a one-to-one dialog and the mayhem of anarchy, atrocity and violence continued for more than half a century.
- Was Nelson Mandela really a 'terrorist'?
- If so, does this mean being a 'terrorist' isn't such a bad thing?
- In the future, will people like Asari Dokubo be perceived as 'heroes', just like Mandela?
BusinessRe: 'Chinese Formular' For Baking Bread? by Seun(mod): 10:30am On Jan 22, 2008
Nigerian bakers here have to contend with rising cost of flour and other materials, crazy import duties and related fees on foreign baking machinery and equipment, and last but not the least, our very own dismal power supply
Don't the Chinese bakeries in Nigeria also have to contend with these same problems? huh
