Very Stuuuupid & callous suggestion / advice.

All CBN need do to make the naira stronger is to reduce the circulation of the highest denomination of Naira(#1k) ....one of the best ways to strengthen a currency is making it scarce....all these noise about domicile transactions is needless.

We need young visionary leaders in all positions not these dull heads and charlatans parading themselves in position of power.

@SENIORWRITER

Now i understand you now. There is different between being an eloquent writer with good english command and being an economist. I think you are very good in one which is English Writeup but you are not a sound economist. Making Naira scare will cause deflation and too much of money in circulation will cause inflation. I will suggest Nigeria government need to monitor what we import against what we export so as to balance trade. This will strengthen our economy. They can do this by reducing all this unnecessary importation materials like plastics, tooth picks, to mentions but few.

Those things that a normal or average Nigeria can produce that is what is being import in Nigeria. And in economy when what you import is greater than what you export. There is bound to be influx of buying dollars and trading it for their importation which is affecting our economy this days.

Moreso, Tax duties should be waves to encourage more SME scale business in the country. Also i dont see reason why our banking system needs to have seperate account where people buy dollars and funds the account to trade international in name of DOMICILED ACCOUNT. It is not done in China, not done in Europe and not done in USA and UK so why should it be apply here in Nigeria. If you want to transact, informed banks and let bank do the conversion and tells you how much you will pay in Naira. Shikena

India is currently the go to guy for vaccine production worldwide, this is in addition to other goods and services they produce and export. In Nigeria we import far more than we export and there lies our problem.

In Canada you can comfortably open a USD in addition to your regular account so this your argument is unsustained.

To buttress my fellow economist argument. I stand by saying what he said is right and what you are suggesting has no economy backup. The last i check, in America there is nothing like domiciled account. Once you open account, it should be enough for transaction. You only go to bank to get the ROUTING AND SORT CODE for international transaction. But here in Nigeria. We have different account for foreign transaction and local transaction. I think what the guy is trying to say is that CBN should allow people to transact international with Naira account and bank will do the conversion. Instead of going to buy Dollars and put in seperate account and call it DOMICILED ACCOUNT for foreign transaction

Please just asking to know. Whose traditional office is higher among the two, Alafin or Ooni. I know one of them should be greater than the other.

1) The Archaic Era — The Pre-Pavement Era:
The centuries of Ife’s history from ??BC through 350BC to 800AD and then up to c.1000AD.

During this period, each of the different settlements in the Ife bowl managed its affairs as an autonomous kingdom.

However, the kings of the Ife settlements worked out a lose confederacy in which one of them presided as a chairman of the alliance on a rotational basis.

Obatala (king of one of the settlements, viz. Ideta, aka Iranje) is well remembered in the traditions as the last chairman of this alliance of kings in the Ife bowl.

(2) The Early Pavement Era:
The centuries of Ife’s history from 1000AD to 1200AD.

From the start of this era, the system of government in the Ife bowl began to change and change forever.

Of all the actors at the start of this era, the greatest is (according to all the traditions) a man by the name of Oduduwa — a contemporary of Obatala, et al.

The political organization of Ife was transformed from a mere lose confederacy of different kings into one unitary single kingdom under one king.

This singular kingdom of Ife prospered quickly and by c.1100 (some 100 years down the line) was ripe & set for imperial status.

The Ife empire (from c.1100) stretched, at the peak of its power, from today’s “Southern Togo” on its west to the Niger River on its east.

By the year 1200AD, emissaries/princes from Ife have established a number of provincial kingdoms amidst other Yoruba groups (and sometimes non-Yorubas) in the region.

The Oyo kingdom was established by one such prince from Ife at about this date, 1200AD. His name known from the traditions as Oranmiyan, and he is said to be one of the youngest grandsons of Oduduwa.

(3) The Late Pavement Era:
The centuries of Ife’s history from 1200AD to 1400AD.

Oyo kingdom, “one of the earliest-founded provincial capitals in the Ife empire” was founded 1200AD by an Ife prince Oranmiyan. He became its first king and was succeeded by his sons.

Not so long after the end of this era ( i.e. in c1450), the balance of wealth and power began to tip away from Ife, and its imperial status (started in c.1100) waned.

Its provinces become more and more independent of itself; and its political, commercial and military power began to shift elsewhere — but not its hallowedness.

(4) The Post Pavement Era:
The centuries of Ife’s history from 1400AD to 1600AD.

During this era, Ife declined commercially & militarily. Its imperial status fell, and the balance of wealth and political power tipped to the Oyo kingdom which then succeeded Ife as the new sherif in town by virtue of its imperial status starting from c.1580.

In Summary:
IFe is Yorubas’ civilization cradle, its holiest city and, its first empire.

A king of Ife is, as such, the head of Yoruba kings and head of the holiest Yoruba city.

Cheers.

You people that are speaking some fables about what history you don't know. Can I ask you questions if you can answer this question correctly, i think you need to re-observe your history.

1. Who is the founder of Oyo empire?
2. Who is father of Oranmiyan?
3. Who founded Benin kingdom?
4. In what rank was Oranmiyan among Oduduwa children?
5. Where is throne of Oduduwa?
6. Between ile ife throne and Oyo throne, which one is the oldest?
7. Who is the father of all Yoruba?
8. And who is holding the throne of Oduduwa?

If you can answers this, then you know who is superior.

you do not know your History then. In fact if you delve into the the history of the yorubas, many historians suggest the Ooni is not really the son of Oduduwa but the son of his traditional priest or his concubine depending on which version you read. The real heir to Oduduwa was Oranmiyan, the last son who came back from war (all the elder brothers had gone to establish Kingdoms over yoruba land as is the tradition of ancient Kingdoms, only to find the powerful fetish priest to Oduduwa the Ooni-orisa on the throne and unwilling to engage him in a spiritual fight, left Ife to set up his Kingdom in Oyo and left his staff of office Opa Oranmiyan behind in Ile-ife (that still stands today) as a symbol of his lineage and authority. Up until the recently the Alaafin was recognised as the superior King. It is Awo that made the modern day Ooni superior to the Alaafin because of local politics in the Western region. Adesoji Aderemi was an AG supporter and the Alaafin was a supporter of Akintola. The reason why he who is King of ife is given the status he is given is because Ife is the cradle of all yorubas. Just like He who is president of the US is regarded as the most powerful man irrespective of the person occupying the post or how he got there. But traditionally, those who know their history know that the Allafin is the real daddy!!! In fact technically speaking by true Royal lineage, (i.e by descendancy from the 1st son, and his 1st son etc etc ) the most direct and senior King in yoruba land is neither in oyo or ife ( I cant remember which town it is again...possibly ila orangun or something like that..dont quote me) Have you ever wondered the origin/ meaning of the word Oonirisa? even those who claim that the Ooni is superior will tell you according to them that the 1st ooni was the son of Oranmiyan....but Oranmiyan was the 1st Alaafin. The fact that he left his staff behind should suggest to you that Oranmiyan left ife. it is on record the kingdoms established by his elder brothers so if the elder brothers left ife and Oranmiyan left Ife...who became Ooni? Dont forget illegitimate Conquerors tend to rewrite history to favour themselves. Drug dealers, establish legitimate businesses to cover up their past, people with illict wealth launder their money to make it look clean. If an illegitimate man ascended the throne in Ife his descendants are not going to tell you their progenitor was illegitimate...are they? There are many Oonis that have been chased out of Ife over the years. Reading yoruba history in depth would suggest the throne in ife is probably one of the most bastardised thrones in yoruba land because many Oonis were over the years expelled and sent packing....by whom and who took the seat by what legitimacy? I have never read anywhere where an Alaafin was sent packing from Oyo Kingdom until Awo dethroned the current Alaafin's father and sent him to Lagos. that tells you the alaafin lineage is likely to be more pure.

The late Erudite Nigerian History professor Akinjogbin wrote "on the whole it can be said that the stature of the Ooni of ife increased during colonial rule compared to what it had been" it is no surprise when a whole Ooni of ife served as a governor of western region under the colonial reign of Queen Elizabeth Of England, served a federal minister under the colonial reign of Geirge Vi . Just think and digest the implications of these for a minute. The reason a whole Ooni served under a colonial Kingdom was simply because Ife and the Ooni wasnt that recognised before Aderemi and his aim was to get recognition which he suceeded in doing by doing his masters/ biddings. Infact according to "Prior to his installation as the 49th Ooni on September 2, 1930, at the age of 40, Ife was a small town whose reputation was limited to the mythical belief of it being the cradle of mankind, according to the Yoruba people." the narrative of ife changed under Aderemi because he was prepared to (....you call it what you want) not only to an empire than Conquered his own kingdom but to Awo a cicilian elected leader. Are those the traits of a superior King of noble ancestry or someone with an inferiority complex....you tell me? A so called supreme King served His majesty/hermajesty's government for as a colonised country as a paid employee for 12 years as Member, Legislative Council of Nigeria 1946- 1951, Member of the Nigerian Federal House of Representatives 1952-1954, Minister in the Central Government- 1952- 1954, Governor (Western Region of Nigeria) – 1960-1962...all of this while enthroned as Ooni of ife. Are these the traits of a 1st class King? Compare that with Alaafin who dared to speak his mind at the risk of dethronement. Who of the 2 would you say displayed the traits of nobility?

As CHinua Achebe famously said: the history of the hunt will always glorify the hunter. Whoever is on the throne now or then can tell his story as he wishes and is likely to be believed over time because after all he occupies the throne. But man must also use his common sense. Like i said if all the sons of OOni went to establish Kingdowns and his last son oranmiyan went to establish oyo...who became Ooni? Why did he leave Ife if he was the presumed heir to the throne as a famous warrior? why did he leave his staff behind?

i suggest you read up.

I am not sure you are student of history as you claim, if you are you will realise that there has been like 5 Oonis before Oranmiyan become Ooni in ife, also if i am to follow your history. It means Benin Senior Oyo cause Oranmiyan became Kings in Benin and left his son there to be kings after him then later left for Oyo to established what is called OYO today. At first, He went to Ife and realise there is King ruling and came to established Oyo and after Ife King died and he came back to become 6th Ooni of ife.

Moreso, i have read in history how Alaafin Ajaka was a toy to King of Owu kingdom and Oyo was invaded several times and he was put in prison and later came to be rescue by his brother SANGO, who later become King after him.

Also if you read history very well you will know that Oyo Mesi was invaded by Fulani and Alaafin was dispose with help of the then Aare Ona Kankanfo (Afonja). So where Oyo is now is a New Oyo. The old Oyo is around Tapa, Bariba and Kogi. Go and learn your history very well.

That is reason they called old OYO (OYO ILE) and new Oyo (OYO IMESI).

THE ONLY KING THAT HAVE NEVER BEEN DETHRONED OR REMOVED OR WAGE WAR AGAINST IS (OONI OF IFE). So if you have any concrete gazette to back your write up. I am waiting.

You have not read the constituion. You dont know the law of your own country.

Under no circumstances as Alaafin ever over rated or rank than OONI. We all know history, all Yoruba are descendant of Oduduwa and Oduduwa stool is sitted on by OONIRISA. So how is Alaafin greater than OONI.

I’m curious, is the kingship by democracy? Do you “ support” or vote your men to become kings?

If their father was the late king, by birth they’ve earned the right to become kings themselves irrespective of how they like to wear their pants. Unless, culture is dead and the throne is a business open to the highest bidder.

Their father become king by denying the current Olu of Warri in 2015 when his own father died. So the current Olu of Warri was supposed to have been King since 2015. So by lineage when his father died it supposed to go to first son but there was manipulation and was given to Junior brother. Now it is back in line.

One of them is the mother of the founder of Iwo in Osun srate

Sir you are right about Oduduwa having many children but the only FEMALE child Oduduwa have gave birth to is called "IYUNADE" which gave birth to the first King of Owu. OLOWU not OLUWO. The story of Oluwo is different. Iwo in Osun was created by son of First Female King of Ile Ife, Ooni Luwo Gbagida, who also happen to be the last Female Ooni. Who married one of her chief and give back to a son which can not lay claim to the throne and has to be sent seek "Ifa" help and went on journey to discover the town that is called Iwo Today. And he became the first King of Iwo being from Ile Ife dynasty.

Do you know that the first king of warri is a generational son of one of the king of Benin, while the first king of Benin is called Ewaka 1, Ewaka dad is called Oranmiyan the 7th son of Okani, while Okani is the only son of Oduduwa.

By the way, Oduduwa dad is called Lamurudu.

Now you see how Benin, warri and yorubas are related.

YOU GET THE HISTORY RIGHT. But you made mistake in spealing Okanbi noy Okani.

Good move. Hopefully, the rehabilitation will be completed according to schedule. However, the refineries should be privatized once the rehabilitation is completed. That’s the only way they can compete with Dangote refineries.

Bros do you understand what you are saying at all. Why rehabilitate something you will privatise. If you know you will privatise it why will you spend such huge money on it.

It is either you leave it for private investor to spend the money and when people start using it then they can regain the money they invest.

Bros leave that propaganda. That is visitors seat. That is the seat he used in entertaining special visitors and dignitaries. His ancestorial seat is one he is sitting on.

Hmmmm. I think I did mine since around 2013\2014 thereabout, and still haven't received the plastic ID.

Are we now just going to accept the paper as an alternative to the plastic? Maybe as our fate finally. It is well.

The plastic is out if you want it. I can get it for you. But is cost N5k and i will send it to you anywhere you are.
