emily111: From my view a lot of red flag.
1. You are married with a son. And your mom want to sponsor your trip. Bro no is out of it. Does mom feed your family also.
2. The traveling history is not the major reason.
3. School or organizations send there staffs to conferences and not by yourself when is not that you are going for a master degree
Bro from my view this visa application was done by an agent if am not making mistake. Look at all this and tell me you did it all yourself.
When did you start your job as a lecturer, if not 2 years or also with your age. The highest you can finish schooling is 24/25 including service year.
Why is it that you are the who want to go for the conference and not your senior colleague at work. You haven't gotten any experience in lecturing if I may say to qualify for any conference yet.
In Visa rules there is a certain age. Where your parents can pay for you trip if it is not academically .
Tell your agent well-done he knows how to cook story.
From my view not judging. Nice one... I have nothing to add, you've done a good job. |

123JohnF: After filing Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, the approval process can take anywhere from 5-12 months. When did she file I-130? November 2018? Did she receive the Approval letter? Ask her and follow up your steps. Approval letter tells her where online she should pay, she can try to pay anytime once she has the Approval letter. Once she paid, it's your green card process and travel but you need to help your mom to be all at time, if her payment for her children visas is accepted, you are not kicked back, doesn't matter if Visa Bulletin moves back. You need to watch out for Approval letter and visas payments. Guys can you move this chat to the Immigrant Visa Section/Thread, God bless you as you comply. |

I think one thing we should be clear about regarding people sending their passport down to Nigeria for Dropbox renewal is that it makes no absolute sense in doing that for these various reasons.
1) Your entry and exit is documented and not only by the airline but by CBP before the full image scan machine at the airport or sea port.
2) The V.O that's suppose to renew your visa will always look for how many days you spent in U.S and look for any criminal record.
3) Renewing your visa while in U.S is for which purpose exactly? after overstaying or maybe your visa expired within 1-2 months of your latest visit to U.S and you decided to send it to Nigeria for renewal, I believe your passport should/will be seized immediately.
4) It's possible for some countries but very hard for Nigerians to do because we're not trustworthy.
Please let us rest this issue, it's only possible for f1 student and some visa categories not B1/B2 visa. |

OmoBendel24: Well, I don’t see any possibility of @the bolded happening per the US B1/B2 visa, unless the US system gets compromised. OP, Beautyaddy and Awumen, I’m surprised at your post, really. Even my oga Overlord77 (off record, are you a “metalled officer” based on your 77 sir?) seems to be falling for this, not clear to me though.
Regular people like myself and you guys can check out our I-94 online without breaking a sweat. Then somebody that got into US having been ten-printed by the CBP will remain in the system and then be bold to even send in his/her passport for renewal? And will now have it renewed? You have to virtually kill them first! I think I have to be educated on this possibility sha, I don’t know this at all. Spend 181 days without permission for that one extra day and an alarm is triggered off on your visa, becoming as good as invalid.
Backdating date of arrival from the UK to Nigeria for example got “knocked” since 2012 (it used to cost £40-60 I think), they learnt from the Americans. The UK authorities will tell you the exact date you left their country if you try that yeye nonsense with them. I know a couple of persons that got repatriated back then. NIS even moved to changing their stamp/ink type every month then sef. It became difficult and almost useless to get them to do backdating for you.
I remember checking my I-94 history a few years ago while in Canada, I noticed they captured the date I last left but no POE, my wife’s wasn’t captured at all and it was some bit of worry for us (we actually left from LGA to YYZ). But on our next individual US visits after 6 months passed, we both noticed that they had a clear record of when we left their country.... They needed us out of Canada and the US first maybe, because that I-94 was still valid for a US comeback without hassles. Same with me as per the bolded. |

This is mostly f-1 students. For bi/b2, I struggle to see how you can do this. You are typically stamped in for a duration that you cannot exceed. And why renew when you're already in U.S for more than 6 months. |

I intend to go with Bus or Train (cheaper than flights). House hope all these arrangements won't raise issues. Bus and train can never be cheaper than plane for a trip from New York to Florida (By bus is more than 19hrs) . I will advise you to re-check your trip. |

flourishing247: My friends experience yesterday. She was grilled for close to 20mins by an African American Lady.
She went to renew expired visa for her children. She was asked why they wanted to travel. She answered. Please note that 90% of her family stays in the US. They all travelled legally. She said the VO ignored them and typed, typed and typed. She was basically looking at all her records. She questioned her on EVERY visit and also questioned her about duration. She answered her truthfully. The interview lasted almost 20mins. She said the VO kept typing and typing with a few questions when she pulls up an information. We just concluded that she was searching to know if she gave birth in the US.. Finally she approved it. We were so happy with our victories. We interviewed same week and all approved. Bottom line NEVER lie and be consistent. They're not joking anymore, it's strictly based on merit now. |

OmoBendel24: But that question is already in the DS160. What’s she gonna do about answering it? And if she says YES the implications are there staring at us, if she says NO it invariably means she’s misrepresenting and that’s grave too. See? And are we expecting that question not to come up during the interview also? That would be awesome.... I'm talking about relatives not close relatives... The relative is a yes or no answer on the form, if you choose yes and they did not ask about the relative during interview why will you want to bring it up with the VO? |

Purplestorm: The wealth of knowledge here is impressive. Please for some who stayed 5 months and 2 weeks on a 6 months entry approval (this happened last year between March/August 2018) what are the likely POE questions. God bless you all! How old is the person and I believe they will want to know why the person spent that much time in the States and there's probability the person may end up in secondary screen but will be let in eventually if the person has a good reason for staying that long in the States. |

My final destination is Detroit, but I would pass through JFK, and spend 2 nights in Newyoork before joining my connecting flight. Please all, what's your take on THIS? , would I encounter any PROBLEMS? , What do I have to go WITH? , Do they ask for Statement of Account at the POE?. I await your warm replies.. Thanks all I don't think you need statement of Account, the most important thing is that you have your accommodation and connecting flight reservation and ticket at hand (Confirmation) before you leave Nigeria. Rimini: Hi Guys, Please what are the chances for a family of 4 going to the u.s for a vacation, along with their grandma; both parents are working and bring in up to a mil monthly and the kids are ages 19 and 11? One's in university and the other in secondary school. The grandma is working and has a very good income as well. They would like to travel for her 70th birthday and just to have fun and leisure time. Location is in dallas, where a brother lives, he's a citizen with a family and a good job. Please what are the likely questions to be asked and how would they be able to prove home ties? Also, how best do you put across that you you're just going for a vacation? (The proposed travel time in the ds-160 is between july-september and they want to spend 3 weeks). (They have been to the u.s once (mother, kids and grandma),about 12 years ago and have taken a family trip to s.a 4 years ago. Both parents have a lot of travel history.)
Thankyou I will advise you to go ahead with the application, you have nothing to worry about because the husband and wife have good travel history and can afford the trip, as for grandma, if she's fit to travel she will be issued a visa. Give it a go and fill your form well, no falsification and please always say the truth.. As for the interview, make sure the father take the lead in answering question on behalf of the family. |

TheAristocrat: RECAP:. Did my B1\B2 visa interview in January,2019.At the end, the VO informed me that my application needs to undergo Administrative Processing and the embassy will send me a form (DS-5535) via email, which I should fill and send back to them. The email came a month later.I did as instructed and the wait began. Last week,I missed a call from the embassy and called back without success.Checked my inbox to see a mail from them asking me to come for a follow-up interview before this week ends. Coincidentally, the same pleasant lady that interviewed me earlier in the year also did today's interview.Hope things go smoothly from here. Nice one... |
