Hello US MissionNGRA,

My younger brother visa was not renewed through Dropbox. My dad scheduled another interview for September. He is still under 18 years so my dad accompanied him to the Embassy for his initial visa.
Now, my Dad's visa is not even close to expiration date and he booked a flight to USA to visit my sisters. and he will be back to accompany my brother for his interview in September.
On his arrival to the stop over airport to USA, his visa was revoked and he was sent back on the next flight to Lagos. The purported email that was claimed to be sent was not sent. An officer wrote REVOKED and a code on his visa.
I think there is a mistake somewhere because they both bear the same last name and first name. I'm confused right now. This is not his first time travelling to the USA. Please, how will it be rectified?"

@seyewest , please have you seen this? What could have happened?
Maybe you should share his transcript at POE and explain in details the event leading up to the deportation.

My wife and I were denied in 2017. We wanted to visit for vacation. We were newly married. No kids. I work. She is a student.

Two years after, we have two kids. I now want to visit a mentor. He's a professor and a US citizen since 1984. I still work. My wife is in final year. I will sponsor myself.

I believe I will get the visa.
Hope you guys have good travel history and ''ties''

Not really...

You should ask Seyewest about it...

He is the specialist when it comes to booking cheap flight tickets...

But $850 - $900 is way too low...

You need to budget at least a $1,500 for a one way ticket...
true.... that budget is low.

Okay.
I scheduled an appointment for my dad and my kid brother for September 23. I'm made a mistake on the ds160 form regarding place of birth. I was told on this forum that I could correct it, which I did. I now have to link the new application number to the scheduled appointment. I was able to change that of my dad, but I wasn't able to change my kid brother's own because I used my dad as the principal applicant. I need to contact CGI to help me rectify it.
Send them an email from your dad profile.

Lolz! Return ticket? Flying from Nigeria? In August? ATL even won't come at $900 easily during off peak season and promo ticket sales period, not to mention August the father of high season. Hardly sir!

Or is it one way ticket you are hunting for?
ATL is always high even for domestic flight...

I was even scanned and thumb-printed while departing via DFW last Sunday 17th June.
When I was going, I traveled through London Heathrow and it was another round of interview for EVERYONE-similar questions to the ones asked during visa interview. This was after the visa had been swiped so I have a feeling they were comparing answers.
PS: I’m a frequent visitor -like this is my 3rd US trip this year.
This is why I try to avoid European Airline especially Gatwick and Amsterdam.

I get all you guys point. The main essence of the thread is to share & proffer advise on tourist visa, and not to support the illegality in achieving it.

However, we need to be cautious of how we address our holy truth. Say the truth but don't be abusive and disrespectful; even though you feel you're Methuselah and far older than all of us here, do know that even that kid next to you deserves some respect.

Life is funny, since you're not trying to "Japa" like some school of thought would say; you may go for an interview, it may leads to how internet savvy you are and you may wan show say you dey nairaland, this may make the interviewer more interested and ask after your username on nairaland, and the hiring manager would be one of us here; and they would know you lack communication skill, compassion, inability to work with teams and in a team as you're always abusive, hot tempered. You barely know the personality behind that name you're seeing on nairaland, it may be your bridge later.

What I'm saying is that "don't use people to get point", talk to them politely and still make your point. Let them know their wrong but don't talk to them as if you dey garri them. Everyone deserves some respect, even your housemaid.

And those that post for advise, acknowledge your wrong like Wajt did. Truth is always bitter.

Let us all stop attacking personality, it is a forum.
You get sense jare...

OK, you are in US, your wife and kids are illegal, border control let you to get in. Now what? You don't have a residence, no rights, you will spend your savings, try to do illegal jobs, not easy to hide with the family and kids, nowadays the control is more, the authorities know where are you and what are you doing, it's a matter of time you will be deported back to Nigeria. You and your wife can NOT to be legal unless one of you or both marry a USC, if the Fraud is discovered, it is jail, fine and deportation. You can try to get in Canada yet Canada is tired of so many Africans and deports too or don't let you to get in.

Now tell us how will you make legal your wife and kids? and yourself?

You see our people don't like the truth. It's better for you to hear all the "ugly" truth in order to make an informed decision. Anyone that doesn't support is tagged a hater. If I wanted to migrate, I would have and by law I won't be deported. People that are conversant with immigration laws will know the angle I'm coming from.
Don't come here with half truth and when people react they start throwing tantrums all over the place.
Exactly and how to we keep the integrity of this forum by applauding and supporting what is contrary to law/rules. We need to do better as Nigerian because most of the time we want people (especially foreigners) to understand why we do bad things like breaking the law etc... we try to explain illegality and reason we do it, it may work in Nigeria but it will hardly work elsewhere. Please we can do better than this.

Na wa for you oh! All your mind can see is ILLEGALITY. There's a legal and better way to migrate to Canada. Express Entry and Provincial Nomination Programme are known to a lot of people I believe, the OP isn't even denying knowing the right path to have used....
I believe the right way to go about this issue is explaining everything in full instead of giving us half of the story and getting defensive afterwards. The insult is unnecessary and not needed at all.

Landed in Hartsfield ATL. All i was asked " why is your family still in the states" and i responded " We are battling with marital issues" she wanted some time away. I had an onward ticket, hotel reservation for Canada though. I just pack everything put for the guy desk and left him to go through them. I have nothing to say to you and my advise to you is my honest opinion, if it's insulting to you I apologize but know one thing that Nigeria can only be great if we as a citizen do the right thing, everything you stated happened to you, also happen to millions of American every year, security issues is a global problem.
I wish you best of luck but my problem is that your plan to move your family to U.S illegally is still illegal.

I don't believe you're trying to make excuses for him when it's obvious he already stated that he knows that his family is living in the US illegally.

If you claim that he's sober and made a mistake then he should make efforts to get his family back to Nigeria by all means.
You have a point my sister.

Hello everyone,

Been looking for this thread for some hours now to share my POE experience. Once a story is not on the first page of the travel section... to find it na wahala.

So I bought my ticket towards the end of last month. Bought it directly from the Emirates website using a combination of miles and card.

P.S. after flying an airline y'all need to go register your trip to earn miles... this is irrespective of whether you bought it from an agent or directly from the website. The miles earned from my last trips cut this ticket by almost 50k.

Just thought to put this out there.

Back to it, so I flew Emirates from LOS - DXB- IAH. Emirates is an amazing airline....super super amazing.

CBP: passport please.
Me: I gave him.
He now separated my two passport.
CbP: do you have any valid Visa on this. He raised my old passport.
Me: No.
CbP: Then you don't need this.
Me: *rolls eyes*
CBP: business or pleasure
ME: vacation
CbP: where are you going to be staying
ME: with family in ******. I started getting out my phone to give him the exact address.
CBP: place your four right fingers....took my picture
CbP: how long are u staying
Me: about 3 weeks I'm leaving on ........
Cbp: how much do you have.
Me: .......dollars
CbP: do you have fresh meat and food.
Me: NO! But I have dry fish and dry veg and ......
CBP: Hands me back my passport.

I went to collect my bag and off I went. No secondary check.

Lessons learnt
Even if your layover exceeds 8hrs, Emirates will not provide accommodation for you if there was the option of a flight with a shorter connection layover.

That's how I spent 10hrs inside DXB eating and shopping because I was toooo eager to get out of Lagos to start my vacation.

I left on the 12.05pm flight which had over 10hrs layover instead of waiting for the 6.10pm flight which had about 4hrs.

Anyways I don become DXB expert...I know every nick and cranny of the place.

Just thot to share...

Xoxo
I think the only reason you're not eligible for Dubai Connect was because emirates flies twice a day from Lagos and if it was from Abuja you will surely qualify for it... I was expecting you to share some pics and thanks for the Emirates skyward tip.
Have a solid vacation...

Thank you bro for your timely response.

Let's assume it would be checked. Will the affidavit and newspaper publication suffice? Will the VO have a problem with This?

About the form, do I need to print and physically submit it after doing that electronically?
bring a copy of your International passport, ds160 confirmation, appointment page, visa receipts, passport photograph and any other document you think will assist/help you in getting the visa.

Hi guys.

Please I'm currently filling out the DS160 form but I have a confusion. After electronically submitting the completed form, do I still need to print it out and submit it physically at the embassy?

Secondly, my passport bears a different surname from my bank account. I did a 'change of surname' in 2016 and registered for my international passport with the new surname. While my bank accounts and other personal effects still bear the old surname.

Why I have been reluctant to reconcile this is because changing the surname on my account would automatically complicate my salary payment and before it would be resolved, this may take months.

I have a court affidavit and newspaper publication to this effect.

My question is, would the difference in surname between my passport and bank statement be a problem at the embassy.

Seyewest, salsera and anyone who can help please.
If you're applying for tourist visa (B1/B2) your bank statement may not be checked, in short I'm 90% sure that your bank statement will not be checked.

This is the problem, his source of income is in Nigeria, starting all over again in U.S is out of the question but his family is based in U.S now (probably due to pressure from wife about leaving Nigeria for greener pasture) and the issue is actually how he can renew his visa regularly so he can visit U.S at least 3-4 times a year without living in U.S while the rest of his family is based in U.S. (One of the reason for cancellation of Dropbox)

So they were just going to stay there as illegals? How were they going to convert to permanent residency? They were going to hide forever or what? Your family’s record is clear in their system. Expect a tough POE experience. This is why they refuse indiscriminately now.

I need opinions.
I cant really say i made a mistake coz i thot about it before execution. I never thot Trump would take this draconian measures to tighten up borders. I earn a very good pay but as a business man the future of this country scares me hence my decision
We got our B1/B2 visa in 2016 as a family and also traveled as a family just once . Subsequently,it was just my wife and kids. They traveled twice on that visa and on the their third trip,i made them stay back. I renewed my b1/b2 ( alone) about 3 months before expiry. I have a valid visa but going on that trip scares me. I don't know what to expect at the POE considering my family already overstayed.
Even if i am able to get into the US,what are my chances of renewal coz staying back in the states is totally not an option.
I see no reason why you're worried, if leaving your family behind in U.S is wrong then you will have to face the consequences remember you made the decision, we can only look from afar.
