dami20: Hi nairalanders Pls I need ur advise , am currently pregnant and traveling to USA for delivery. I want my 1st child to come over on visit when school is on Easter holiday has she as not travelled to USA before I won't be around for her interview so my husband will b taking her. Now this is where I need advise I gave birth to her while studying in d U.K. 2008, was a single mum till I married in 2014, ( I have a court shown affidavit stating am solely responsible for her up keep) I don't know d whereabouts of her biological father as in all U.K. Visa applications I leave the father information blank even in d documentation of her Nigerian passport father's information is blank. When I applied for USA visa birthing purpose in 2016 I and my husband where asked if he had adopted her and we said yes . Reason was that we were already considering it. After the interview I went to d appropriate ministry to start the process and was told that since the father is a Nigerian I need a letter from my child's biological father as long as he is still alive or from his family stating they agree to d adoption. This put me in a very sad emotional touture as it reminded me of what I went through in that relationship and how so hard I tried then to exterblish a relationship between the father and child while I was in U.K. And even wen I came back to Nigeria. Also at some point in Nigeria Due to the way school educate kids I noticed in my child's exam booklet she had a great score but left a particular answer blank so I checked d question and it writes what is the duty of a father. I realized she didn't know cos I was doing very thing as a single mum. At that point I spoke to few elderly people who advised in Nigeria law that the man owns d child. I went through d pain travelled to lagos to locate where his mother lives after hours of searching d area I eventually located it but she travelled out of d country. Collected her Neighbour's contact , came back to abuja and kept calling just to b able to reach her. After 2 months of continued calls I was able to speak to her, told her I let my child talk to her grandma for the first time and after giving d phone back to me she said I should never call her again that when d child grows will look for her father. That day I wept bitterly cos her son never denied d pregnancy, I wasn't contacting cos I needed money or for they to take care of d child. I was doing so cos of d society we live in Nigeria. That was d only day my child saw me break down in tears and on that day I vowed not to contact his mum again as for him I don't even know his whereabout. Am sorry my mail is so long but I believe you need to have a true picture to b able to advise me properly. I have filled my child's USA visa visa form using b1 and where father's information was asked ini didn't fill it. It's my husband sponsoring my child's trip so pls where it's asked for sponsor will I fill in parent? And if asked about d adoption what would my husband's response b as I will not b there with them during d interview.
Thanks you so much will b waiting to read from u. Before making any moves and as an Educated woman, you should have contacted a lawyer before going ahead with the adoption process... I wish you're available for your child interview because U.S Embassy is always on the look out for Child trafficking and it's only you that can explain the true picture. I pray that God will take away your sorrow and as for your child, he/she is already great. Good luck |

ozymes: Lugbe axis to Central Area for interview. How about if the interview is in the morning, have you considered possible holdup around Lugbe to City Gate? let him use booking.com to check for hotels around that vicinity and choose according to prices. Excepts he drives. Lugbe is not bad (if he leaves for the embassy around 6am, he won't face any traffic) especially around Police post side but he won't see N3000 maybe N7K |

Lovesexy: Please I wanted to ask immigration officer's in this forum, is there anything that I am doing wrong trying to invite my mother to the US. I first applied for Visa for her last year 2018 in May for my graduation, they didn't issue her. This year 2019 again (this past monday) I applied for her again and still no avail with all the necessary documents giving to her, like ultrasound, doctors but it will take longer than the visa and also she doesn't want to live our dad all by himself for that long. That is why she doesn't want to stay long.
Help a sister please and thank you. How did you get your Citizenship? |

GENIUS18: @seyewest, Thanks for the quick response. This is the plan: We shall attend the US visa interview on the 3rd April. Irrespective of the outcome, we plan to book a Dubai Trip out of Abuja for Thursday 5th April 2019 (& return to Abuja Sat, 13th April). I would normally resume work in PHC (come to PHC 14th April).
My concern is also that "On the US Visa website: Change Document pick-up is possible in LAGOS Only"
Just for my understanding : Do we still need to travel to Dubai with our Passport, since Visa is issued on arrival (but I think YES). If you're successful during the interview you will get your passports back after 2 days which will be 5th and Emirates check-in close by 5pm or so... I think you can risk it. You must always travel with your passport (You won't be allowed to board without one) You can stay in Abuja for that 3 days because it's almost the same if you fly back to PHC. Goodluck |

GENIUS18: Good afternoon great people. I have a valid US visa, which I have used a couple of times(expires 2020 Feb). My wife and kids have just recently applied for US visa (scheduled at Abuja) for 3rd April 2019, so the entire family travels(PHC->ABUJA). We reside in Port Harcourt, so we had initially choose DHL return services to Port Harcourt (in the event that Visa is approved). Now we want to know if we can change the pick up location (i.e. pick it up at the Abuja DHL location instead of the initial point PHC), as we plan to travel to Dubai, as kids would be on vacation (departing from Abuja). This is to avoid travelling to Port Harcourt, just to pick the passports.
Advise on the best way to handled passport transfer would be appreciated.
thanks Are you planning to stay in Abuja for 3 days and book your flight from Abuja or leave your passport in Abuja for weeks after the issuance and travel from Abuja the same day you pick your passport from DHL on your way to the Airport? I have a 3 scenario but please elaborate. |

Redaddict: Good day everyone, Please I need advice on the issue below: when my Hubby and 2 kids obtained their US visa last year (I had a valid visa), they informed the VO that the kids were going on a vacation to Disney World. we couldn't make the trip last year and are planning for it this year however, we just discovered that the cost of ticket to Orlando is too expensive (N2.5million) and are considering the possibility of taking them to another state (ticket to LA or Newyork or Washington DC costs N1.3m). However, We are not sure if this change would cause any issue at the POE. Please advice. Thank you. Not at all just make sure that the State/City you're going to his children/family friend (Like where the kids can visit and learn something e.g Zoo, Museum, Aquarium etc) |

Neeta02: please forgive me my many questions. How do I retrieve the form I had already submitted? Please listen carefully because I may not be around to assist, first of all, you can not change anything in the submitted ds160 form but you can start/open a new form by retrieving the submitted one through www.ceac.state.gov, click on the country and Lagos/Abuja anyone you chose and write the code, then click on retrieve an application and provide the old ds160 number and click retrieve application, fill the secret questions and click on retrieve application, afterwards, 2 options will show 1) view application page 2) Create a new application. Click on 2) Create a new application, and start filling the form you will notice that your information on the old form has been moved to the new DS160 form all you need to do is do the necessary correction and remember to upload your pics. |

Neeta02: Please house I’ll be having my interview next week Tuesday, 5th March. I wish I came across this forum before I applied for B1B2 visa & booked appointment for interview... While filling the form, I said I would stay 3months (I read here yesterday that it’s better to say days or weeks instead of months). My question now is, if it happens that the VO asks me how long I would be staying, what can I say, cause on the form already it’s 3months. Also my passport is a virgin one & I'm single, though I have a small business here. My elder sis who’s a US citizen will send my IV this week & she’s my sponsor. Why will you want to spend 3 months abroad? is that not a red flag? maybe you want to work before you return to Nigeria... bros use sense oooo.... fill another form and put less than 3 months and make sure you did not spend more than you stated and don't work if they issue you the visa eventually. |

Me: Good evening CBP: Good evening, what are you here for? Me:Conference and visit
Then asked a whole lot about the conference, my job bla bla bla... Just wondering why I was invited when they have loads of professors @ the Uni
CBP: How long will you be staying?
Me: 3 weeks
CBP: Place your fingers on the scanner and look at the camera.
Did that, stamps me in for 6 months and hands over my passport.
Me: Am I free to go?
CBP: Yes.
I flew Emirates with a connection in Dubai.
The flight from Dubai to Houston was great as I flew in their big double deck A380 plane with excellent leg room space. Hope you have a splendid holiday. |

cutelass: We renewed our visa almost at the last quarter of last year. Initial visa was issued for childbirth, had two babies with it. It was the perfect profile for 221g. God showed us mercy. Passport was back in about 3 weeks. Fast forward to weeks ago, Orlando POE. Hubby, I, 2 kids. From what I've read from here, I didn't try to go to the queue for citizens, joined the visitors queue. An Indian couple with a USC baby was told by a cbp officer to join the visitors queue. From the queue I could see a man who was being attended to by a female cbp officer, laughing and being very friendly with her and I said to myself, dem go send this one to secondary...I just felt she would think he was trying to hide something by being overtly friendly. She sent him to secondary.
Cbp: addressing my husband 'where are you coming from' Hubby: Dubai Cbp: I mean where are you coming from (he wasn't friendly at all). Hubby: Nigeria Cbp: Where exactly are you coming from (almost hostile at this point). I felt he was asking for the actual city in Nigeria...all the while, the cbp officers behind who take people to secondary inspection was signalling him, one had stepped forward a bit. Hubby: oh we live in so and so but took off from Abuja. Actually we were supposed to be here for Christmas but I had a tight schedule so we decided to squeeze in some days. We are only here for 3 days and them then we leave to Houston, few days there and we return back to Nigeria. (I don't know if it's what he said or something but the cbp became very relaxed). One the other guys signalled to him like 'should I come and take them' he waved and said something like I've got it. He stood up to see the kids and stamped us all in. Nothing was asked as per the receipts for the birth etc...it was a short but enjoyable trip anf we are back. Their wahala is too much... good of your husband to explain things to him in clear and relaxing manner... which airline did you take? |

I wonder why I would be demonic to hurt people and hoard information when I know I will someday be needing information from the same people . I'm not like that Amigos. They asked me for passport number when I booked for club quarters hotel for this booking in Houston, Texas, surprisingly they also have the same hotel in SF, so I ask you, if they ask me, won't they ask her that too? I understand it's the society we live in, but sometimes, opening hearts to people do us good. I help people in my own small way sir, don't know about hiding information to people. You don't even need anything like that... give them the site and let them sort it out... no need asking for passport number (it is very private)... |

@OP Rolake1; Disneyland holiday I presume. Is this about some other family or actually about yours? You could try booking.com or the hotels directly.
