You will get a positive response soon bro. Did you the ceac website yet? Wish you good luck bro!

Yep I checked the ceac website.

1st update after i submitted the documents was on the 26th of June.
2nd update was on July 12.

No other update since then. I really don't know how meaningful those updates on the ceac website are

Guys,

I think it is important and helpful for us to share our interview questions or transcripts for others to learn irrespective of the outcome. I say thank you to those that have shared theirs in the past and also encourage those that have not to please share. It is always helpful and insightful. Others can learn from mistakes and be better prepared regarding the type of documentation that will be useful.

I had my interview on June 24, 2019 and was asked to submit additional documents which i did the next day (June 25) as i had them at home but did not think they were useful or needed for the interview. They have not gotten back to me yet.....and I submitted what was requested a month ago.

See the interview questions below:

1. What is your relationship with your petitioner

2. Tell me what you know about her

3. Who does she live with?

4. Was she married before? No

5. Does she have any child? No

6. Do you have pictures of you together? Yes (i had over 20 new pictures plus the over 40 i submitted with the initial petition)

7. Tell me about the last argument you had together?

8. Do you have pictures of you and your son together? I don't have them here

9. Where is his mother?

10. Any secondary evidence of your ex-wife's death aside the death certificate?

11. Who proposed? How did you propose?

12. When / where are you going to get married?

After all the questions....she says

Before i can approve your visa, I need to see some secondary evidence.

1. I have your ex-wife's death certificate and certificate of cause of death but i need additional secondary evidence like program for funeral, death notification, screenshot of social media posts, pictures, etc.

2. I have your son's birth certificate but I need to be sure of your relationship with your son. So send pictures of you together at different times of his life. She also asked for his hospital records / immunization records but i told her i could not get those for some reasons.....she said okay send pictures.

So if you have kids, know that they may ask for more than birth certificates. If you lost a spouse, they may ask for more than death certificates and so on.

Dear CO,

I had my K1 interview on June 24, 2019 and was asked to submit additional documents at the DHL office which i did the next day, June 25, 2019.

After waiting for 3 weeks without getting any information on my case, i sent an email to LagosIV@state.gov on July 16, 2019 but i have not gotten a response up till now.

Please is there any way i can have an idea of the status of my case?

Thank you.

I have always been a slient reader on this thread and i was denied this Morning, I felt the officer denied me based on age difference between my Fiancee and I, I was well prepared i guess but did not come out that way as the questions he asked was quite insignificant to other reviews i have read so far, I was interviewed by a black American man and the first questions he asked me was how may times have i try to traveled which i answered 4times B1/b2 Once and 3 times for F1 Visa, Which my current Fiancee was my point of contact at all times, Then he asked about my job told him i was into real estate he asked about how much houses are sold in my area which i told him, Then he asked about how many times my Fiancee has visited told him twice and who paid for the flight i said my Fiancee while i took care of all expenses here, Went on about how many kids my Fiancee has answered 2 girls ever spoken to them said yes and he asked if they have ever introduce me to there friends i said we only spoke when they visit there mom and have plans on getting together when i get there, he asked if i have been married before said no and my Fiancee said yes 3 times then he said my Fiancee was here last year for 3 months that why did we not just get married i told him my Fiancee want us to get married in the Us in presence of Family and friends and he said she has been married 3 times already and i have never been married that we could just have gotten married here so my Family can be present to my first Marriage and asked how many siblings answered 3 and both parent are alive so he went ahead and said how will they be present in my Marriage if we got married over there and not here and i answered that they might be present if qualified for a visiting Visa he went back and forth on how we could just have done everything while she was here with my Families been present i felt the V.O did not ask the questions nor any proof to determine our relationship, Gave me a white paper stating case will be sent back to Uscis for revocation not giving up yet, Wish there rest of you guys best of luck in your upcoming interview still trying to look for information on what can be done i saw on a post on Visa Journey that it can be contested dont know how truthful that is.

Sorry about the denial.

What's the age difference? The CO clearly had doubts about the relationship.

Best is to get married and apply for a spousal visa. The advantage of a spousal visa is that you can appeal if the petition is denied unlike the K1.

In the spirit of sharing transcripts.........so that we know that visas are still being issued.

My sister had her visa interview this week.

Transcript as follows:

CO: You've been to the US before? Yes

CO: What are you doing in the US this time? Attending my brother's wedding

CO: Is your brother in the US? No, he applied for a K1 visa

CO: Has the visa been granted? Not yet, he was asked to submit additional documents

CO: The last time in the US, where did you stay? Stayed with my brother's fiance

CO: You met her after they got engaged? Yes

CO: Does she visit Nigeria? Yes

CO: When is the wedding? August xxxx

CO: You work in xxxx? Yes

CO: What level? 12

CO: Have you visited other countries? Not really, but i had an 8 hour stop over in Dubai during my last trip

CO: Your visa is approved.....bla bla bla

I think if you have a valid reason to travel.....it increases the chances of getting a visa.

Does location matters because I stay at the mainland and using police report from Alagbon ikoyi is it acceptable or should I just go with the report I would get from the mainland? Kindly clarify

Wait till you get your NOA2 and you get a case number from NVC.......then you can start worrying about medicals or police report.

Hello sharpman1,

There is no specific date or timeline for this. It takes a couple of days just for the documents to reach us and get processed at the Consulate, and then your interviewing officer will review the additional documentation when they get the chance. The length of time it takes to get an update depends on the interviewing officer and the amount and complexity of documents you submitted. If you have not heard back from us within three weeks, please send an email to LagosIV@state.gov to ask about your specific case.

Thank you Consular Officer.....

I had my K1 interview and was asked to submit additional documents at the DHL office.

My question is, how long does it usually take for the embassy to process the application after the new documentation has been submitted?

Travel / Re: USA Fiancee (K1) Visa Thread by sharpman1(m): 4:41pm On Jun 25, 2019
Hi guys.

So i had my K1 visa interview yesterday (June 24).

I can't give too much details yet as i was asked to send some additional documentation (secondary evidence, they had all primary evidence) of some situation which i did not have with me at that point before my visa can be approved.

I have dropped the requested documents at the DHL office today because i had them but i felt i would not need them for the interview. I hope they respond fast.

I will give the full interview transcript after the process is completed.

However, i have a few points and tips to share from my experience:

1. The consulate officer is very thorough...make sure you are well prepared and don't take anything for granted. I am an auditor and i thought i had my documentation perfect.

2. Some COs can be more lenient than some others....unfortunately, the applicant does not get to choose.

3. Go with ANYTHING that can help your case. Nothing like too much evidence, If you like carry big bag of evidence. For e.g. if you have a child, apart from the birth certificate, also go with any other evidence that can prove relationship with that child. (Facebook posts, pictures of naming, health records, etc). If you lost a spouse, aside death certificates, go with secondary evidence like facebook posts by family and friends, pictures of burial, etc.

4. The NIV section was a disaster for applicants. I think a lot of applicants are just trying their luck because the denials were so much. The COs are so ruthless.....them no send anybody.

Hopefully i will hear from them soon and complete the process. Please who knows how long it usually takes for the consulate to respond when they ask for additional documentation?

NO DOCUMENTS CHECKED

MY LITTLE RECOMMENDATIONS:
EVEN IF YOU HAVE ALL DOCUMENTS AND THE STRONGEST TIES IN Nigeria, IF you DONT GO WITH THE GRACE OF GOD, FORGET IT. I SAW A HIGH RANKING CIVIL DEFENSE OFFICER BEING DENIED.
A BIG MAN AND ALL HIS FAMILY MEMBERS PROLLY GOING FOR THEIR HOLIDAYS ALL BEEN DENIED.
Eveb ONE KABIYESI man WAS DENIED TOO. SO NA BABA GOD GET POWER las las.. pray, fast and seek his face.

Just like other ppl have said before
1. Be confident in your answers
2. Don’t be desperate(very important.)
3. Those guys are highly trained and can sense desperation miles away. Go with the mentality that it’s either you get or not. After all Its not an interview for a million dollars check.

Congratulations. All the best in your exams

As in.......is it compulsory to travel if one can't afford it?

Actually, I am graduate of Accounting where I graduated with third class degree. I am so frustrated right now because I have not been able to secure a good job after my service.Do I still have a chance to get a good job with my class of degree?
your advice is needed and pls no insult.

1. Register for ACCA

2. Refuse all exemptions and start from the very beginning

3. Make sure you opt in for the BSc Applied Accounting degree offered by ACCA in partnership with Oxford Brookes University

4. Try as much as possible to get a first class in the Oxford Brookes degree

5. Know the courses so well that you can teach them and offer to teach some of the courses (It would improve your teaching skills and network)

6. Complete your ACCA.

Your chances of getting a job during and after the ACCA program will increase greatly.

Best of luck.

Yes, I would have scaled through if it were a different CO. I overhead one CO telling a male applicant to bring a proper divorce document through DHL. Most of the applicant were asked to bring one document or d other together with their passport.

Questions Asked:-

Who Filed for you
How and when did you meet
Have you been married before
Answered Yes,
Why did you divorce him!
What kind of marriage did you do!
Me, local govt registry
CO,: sorry you are not eligible to remarry because you did not divorce property. You cannot use a customary court divorce document to annul a Local Govt marriage. According to Nigerian Law, you can only divorce a court registry through a marriage decree from the High Court. I'm sorry but I have to deny you. Returned my passport.
Me: I get you but can you please permit me to get the document asap and send it to your office.
CO: No
Me: Stood there for like a minute thinking she will change her mind. After realising she has made up her mind said thank you and about walking away.
CO: OK, the only thing I can do for you is to continue the interview so that in case your Fiancée decides to come n marry you here in Nigeria, it will fastrack your approval. Tell him to file a CR1.
And then she continued the interview:
CO. Remind me how met, how did it happen
How many times have you met in person
Tell me about his life over there
How did he proposed
Show me pictures
When and where was this
How do you communicate
OK. That's all I can do for you.
Me: OK, thanks.and then walked away. I was pained but I tried to still answer properly.

Just like you said delay is not denial. My Fiancée is already talking to a Lawyer and we will not just rely on her advice. We'll look at the options and choose d best.

Many thanks for all your kind words. And to everyone, thanks for your concern, your kind words is like a soothing balm. Wishing you all d best.

Wow, that was quite close but God knows best.

Time really moves fast so before you know it.......your next petition would have been approved.

What I dont understand however is why the consular officer said your only option is through Spousal Visa. Based on what you just said, you can still apply using either Fiancee or Spousal Visa after obtaining the divorce document from the court. After all, you are not yet married to your man. But if you guys are married OR plan to marry outside the United States (bride price payment and/or traditional wedding), then your only option is Spousal Visa.

However the final decision is yours and your fiancee to make. Both Spousal and Fiancee visa has its pros and cons.

She can actually go through the Fiance Visa route again....but one major advantage of the Spousal Visa over the K1 is the ability to appeal in case of the unexpected.

I was denied.
Had my interview yesterday but it was denied.
I have been married before at d Local Govt Registry but I did not get a Divorce Decree from high court. I only presented a divorce document from the local govt. I didn't know I had to go to the high court to get a divorce decree. Apart from that, all my documents were complete. If I had said I did traditional marriage, I would have scale through. Knowledge is power.
No question is too small to ask. Always ask question for clarity sake.
The CO said my only option is to get married here after getting d necessary document. And then file for a CR1.
My Fiancée is going to talk to a lawyer about it.
I'm really devastated right now.

I want to specifically thank legitbachelor for all your spontaneous responses and everyone here on this platform for all your support advice and feedbacks.

I seem to be d old one. I take a brown. Love you all

Sorry about the denial.

The same would have happened even if you told them what you had was a traditional marriage. They see traditional marriage or introduction as being too married for a K1 visa.

Like the VO mentioned, best is to do a spousal visa.....and you need to get a proper divorce from a court along with the divorce decree from the court.

It's just a delay..... not the end of the road.

Guys, I'm now in the States cheesy

I entered the States (Dallas Fort Worth) with a one way flight. Was anticipating having issues with the airlines and was ready for them. Was ready to lecture them on what K1 Visa means, lol. But I didn't have any issues at all.

I made sure my medical envelope was in my backpack. When we arrived, I was directed straight to the CBP guys who took the envelope and tore it right in my very eyes. I was directed to a room to wait. I met like 5 guys there. After a while, it was my turn and they gave me back my passport along with a yellow form (I think it's for agric quarantine) and took me straight to the luggage section where I'm to claim my luggage. Was told to go straight to the agric section once I get my luggage.

Luckily my luggage was not searched. Was only asked if I came with fresh seeds which I said no. I only had processed food which have been partly cooked and/or grounded. So they just passed my luggage through an X-ray machine and let me go.

And that was it! My finacee was waiting for me on the other end. It was so emotional for me.

Thanks guys for the active participation. I promise to still keep in touch. This visa journey is a continuous one. Will always keep you all updated. I enjoin us to do the same too.

Regards.

Yay. Congratulations. May God grant you great favor and success as you begin this new journey....

You could not have said it better. I once trying to prove the existence of God to my white housemates by saying he answered my prayers when i fasted for a visa.

Na that day i know say US passport does not need visa to enter many countries....she said it might just be probability.

I think it is a universal trait and at the core of the issue is comfort...hardship makes people run to God for help. There are many church attendees but not many disciples.

Even in the bible its recorded that when Israel ate and were satisfied..they forgot God. Hosea 13 verse 6.

True.

A typical Nigerian is religious because he/she wants to get blessed and protected.

A religious American (for instance), is religious because he/she seeks knowledge or 'just because'.
Travel / Re: Why Do People Become Less Religious When They Travel Abroad? by sharpman1(m): 11:12pm On Mar 18, 2019
The reasons are as follows:

1. A lot of Nigerians are religious because of the material benefit they hope to get as a result.

2. In Nigeria, these benefits are difficult to obtain so they seem to need additional spiritual power to obtain these benefits. E.g. One needs to pray before they get a job, buy a car, pass an exam, get married, etc.

3. It is believed that some negative supernatural forces will attempt to stop you from achieving these objectives.

4. Once they travel, they find out that some of these benefits can be easily gotten with a little dedication and hard work.

5. Since the only motivation to them for being religious is the material benefits.....their TRUE color shows and we then see their real face.
