Once upon a time, Nigeria had tin and there was no oil. There was no mad shouting about resource control and who shld get what. Everybody got treated well. Why is it always the SS causing us problems when it comes to who should get what? OBJ took the oil derivatn rev. to oil producing states from 3% to 13% in his time, if truly the ND Ppl feel cheated, why not use the influence of Gej to increase it, why all the silly groaning here.
4 those of us in ND claiming to be financially buoyant, why not take a trip to Igbudu market, Warri go to Otor-Udu LGA, Delta state or Osieffurun or Abraka and ask the common man there who is an ND citizen what he thìnks about the subsidy removal.
The SE are no better than the SS but they have a history of befriending whoever is willing to give them extra money. The same ambition and trait of '66 is what they are still showing till date.
PoliticsRe: Fight Corruption And Leave Subsidy Alone! by sheyguy: 10:40am On Jan 04, 2012
I think the first step shld be elimination of the cabal, cos anything on ground after the removal of subsidy will eventually play into the hands of these cabal, Gej is not the type of person u expect to do these things cos he is one of them.

@BEAF dont forget there was no oil in pre-1960s when we all depended on money from tin minning in jos, plateau state. Whenever there was oil polution in the waters of ND and they had no source of livelihood they enjoyed benefits from the tin money without complain.
Dont also forget the days of agriculture were certain percentage of the regional procedes went back to the regions, if Gej and his brothers feel they deserve more why not increase the 13% derivation they are getting like OBJ did when he took it from 3 to 13%.
Why is it always the SS/SE causing problems when it comes to benefits and resources control. Dont forget everybody was allowed to work in the mines of jos, in agriculture the west contributed very large amount compared to others but there was no noise from their angle.
The ss/se has always produced the most lazy set of pple mentally, look @ all their freedom fighters/top men and it is easy to see: Tom polo, Gen Togo, Asari Dokubo, beaf and co on NL, Okah, Alams, Sylva, Gej, Dame, Dickson.

@mikeansy, if i may add to ur post above, the govt and cbn gives intervention funds to various establishments for economic reasons but due to ineffeciency and other factors these funds dont get to the majority of the populace. The petrol subsidy is the most common and widely accesible if not the most efficient form of intervention for a common man in Nigeria of today.

PoliticsRe: Boko Haram Is Not The Problem By Jean Herskovits. by sheyguy: 8:52pm On Jan 03, 2012
Above all this is a No. 1 citizen who is virtually only concerned with looking secure rather than being secure.
The writer shld know that Gej belongs to a political party with a presidency arrangement that forbids a southerner being in that sit as we speak. The north are angry and feel genuinely cheated.
GEJ has taken to the advice of IMF and has removed petrol subsidy, a move that does not favour the North.
Like in 1966 The North truly av a good reason to be angry, but they av chosen to express themselves in a barbaric way in some known instances, i hope this does not play out like '66 cos the south south folks may not find more favorable.
PoliticsRe: Do Not Tribalise Protest Against Fuel Subsidy by sheyguy: 7:39pm On Jan 03, 2012
It will be hard to convince them cos of their pride. They will rather suffer in silence because of foolish pride than humble themselves. I am sure the ones among them who av made it back to lagos are among the protesters.

PoliticsRe: Breaking News; F.g To Shut Down Black Berry Service Today by sheyguy: 9:11am On Jan 03, 2012
I expect beaf and co. to be on google search looking 4 arguments in support of their brother.
Though they used it in egypt and other countries against their citizens, jonathan may just be laying foundation for his own downfall further.
We have come too far for this rubbish, UK govt never used such tactics, instead the police tried to intercept the messages and foil new gathering attempts.

My brother I hope you did not expect genuine and honest opinions from Gbawe and crew.

No matter how they try to disguise it, Jonathan's "crime" is not what they say it is.

Trust me on that. Don't lose hope bro.  cool

But unlike in 66 Asari dokubo doesn't av the wisdom and chasm of Ojukwu and i dont see beaf showing up to play the ojukwu role succesfully neither . . . Lol
PoliticsRe: Is Jonathan Heading The Ironsi Route? by sheyguy: 7:55pm On Jan 02, 2012
Gej is definitely towing Ironsi' path.
Like '66 a southerner has stepped on the toes of the Northerners while betraying the trust of his northern PDP member by breaking their eight yrs turn by turn transfer of power btw the North and South agreement, he is pretending to av done nothing wrong while trying to please the north subtly. Just like 1966 the west is still very much out of the picture and the East seem to be supporting him (dont 4get they voted 4 him than any other region).
The fuel subsidy issue has only drawn Nigerians away from him.
Like 66 he still has the support of his pple, and they are ready to stick with him.
PoliticsRe: Silencing Beaf And Company by sheyguy: 7:27pm On Jan 02, 2012
U guys complaining about GEJ may need to visit where Gej comes from and see what it is like and how the pple there think.
I am not surprised by his behavior a bit.

The money you are talking about went into fuel. As you know, fuel isn't free; neither can we keep borrowing to feed a bad habit. Other countries borrow to grow their economies.
why not expand on the qouted comment above.
Benefits to the mass has now become a 'bad habit' because the govt can't keep corruption in check,
PoliticsRe: And So The Rip Off Ended by sheyguy: 10:10am On Jan 02, 2012
So we are to pay N1tr extra from our sweat to enjoy regular fuel alone. How come the fuel only became constant we smuggling was at its peak.
If Gej gov can go through over $70b with nothing to show 4 it, i wonder what $8b/year will do for them.
Beaf:
^
I would support it, but I wouldn't want it. In any case, there is no choice, it would have been impossible to keep the subsidy. We had very detailed warnings from financial guru's like Okonjo Iweala and Sanusi.

Were there fuel queues day-inday-out in Obj and Yar Adua's times? That should answer your question.
Abundant fuel costs much more than no fuel. Seen?

And, I do not know more about GEJ's govt than you do, I am a regular NLer like the next person.
PoliticsRe: And So The Rip Off Ended by sheyguy: 9:35am On Jan 02, 2012
Beaf:
Secure the borders? Its easier said than done, even the US cannot secure its borders with Mexico, as developed as that country is.
If you have ever done business across the borders, you would know that it is impossible. Even in the areas where there is a fence between Benin Republic and Nigeria, people have cut holes where there is the slightest bush. In other areas, there is no fence, but there are forest tracks. Smugglers do not go through customs (except the daft ones or JJC's), the best way to stop them is by pricing the goods they smuggle competitively.
By the way, I am not trying to convince you, I am simply conveying my opinion.
was there no smuggling in obj's time or in yar' adua's timehuh Suddenly smuggling has taken N250b subsidy to N1,300b.
Smuggling of goods can be drastically reduced but we have a govt to lazy to think and act responsibly, if the govt of Gej is not a lazy and insensitive one why havent they given the pple clear direction of where we are going so far, during OBJ's time he tried to ban importation of certain goods to stimulate industries. Though he failed. what is Gej's govt plan and set targets? I am asking u beaf, cos u seem to know much abt Gej' govt and their direction.
PoliticsRe: Place Your Curses Here. by sheyguy: 7:38am On Jan 02, 2012
Curses come into existence no just by placing them on the offender but by the offender's actions.
GEJ, no man mocks God oh . . .Make u use ur head well well.
PoliticsRe: And So The Rip Off Ended by sheyguy: 7:14am On Jan 02, 2012
Rip off indeed . . . Isnt it the same border they sneak these fuel through the same place they sneak rice, flour, and human beings for prostituzion and even Boko haram  use through? Instead of securing the borders he is changing policies and removing subsidies that will punish her citizens.
What happens when rice and flour subsidy becomes choking for the govt.
Gej is towing a cawordly and wicked path that punishes the pple instead of him manning up to face the real issues here.
No mata how hard u av tried thus far beaf, your arguments concerning subsidy removal on this forum still lacks substance . . .at least to me.
PoliticsRe: Breaking News: Fuel Subsidy Removed by sheyguy: 11:57pm On Jan 01, 2012
@beaf
u keep saying pple shld look towards their state gov, Is the state govt responsible for power supply, securing the borders, supply of fuel, interstate road, and policy making as well as clearing of goods or do they enforce any of the above?
How does an 'abled bodied man' overcome these barriers to make a living when the fed turns a deaf hear.
I find the ur agument for subsidy very insulting, especially when u consider pple who r willing to work but cant get a good job to express themselves.

Ok @sheyguy. I also know a bit about that. I'll include that in my "lecture"
i dont know the place ur research was carried out, one thing i know is if everyone keeps running a genset for his personal use there is a guarenteed level of wastage (about 40%) cos pple tend to buy and run gen with a bigger capacity than 4 their normal needs for sake of rainy days, generation of power/electrical energy is suppose to be centralized to eliminate these loses. In a country where power supply is erratic and energy saving bulbs arent what they claim to be, ur research (probably u just google it) will never apply to our pecular situation in Nigeria.

Did you know that research has shown that fuel subsidies discourage the development of energy efficient systems? When heads cool down a bit, I will give a little online lecture on "Energy Utilization and Energy Efficiency".

Activism is good but I prefer to be a part of those who make real impact in issues like this.
and do u know why energy generation is centralised at all huh
