manny4life:What do u mean it has no usefulness?, a four wheel vehicle has lots of use if u don't know. the biafran one they r comparing it to was used for something they already had a invention to carter for if u are not satisfied why not go and try ur hand on building one and see how easy it can be. The autonov in question is a feat compared the Biafra thing aigbunife(not sure of spelling). demonstration of such engineering principles which involving one man is done and celebrated all over the world, it is recognised in academic setting. its all about demonstrating what u can do, it show the prof can design a four-wheeled vehicle. he does not have to adapt it for a new use. let me put this to you: How will u feel if a Nigerian comes forward with a rugged-looking satellite that can track lots of stuff for us (vehicles, Boko Haram, and many more) will u say satellite has been built so there is no big deal in it. when u know how difficult and costly building one can be. Before i close, let me tell u something that happened some times back, while in school one of prof. (now in unilorin) designed a digital satelite receiver and decoder unit(KU band stuff) with some taditional components but with a new DSP processing algorithm, now that particular work wouldn't attract i single sane person by its appearance, but this paticaular work was far more better that what we buy in the market and use, cos it could handle unfavourable wheather condition (Wind and rain) far better than the commercial one we patronise, it was actually between a KU-band and C-band in terms of its performance(better than KU-band but not as good as a C-band due to constraints). now what do thing about that is it not a feat worthy of admiration or we can call it mean becos we already had less expensive and inferior ones![]() |
sheyguy: manny4life:Where did i call it an innovation like u claimed ?I said a demonstration of principle(s) (of engineering), we all know the attitude of Nigerians they hardly believe until they see. i think this man has done a perfect job. most of the pple bragging here on Nairaland ask if they have ever fabricated the simplest of mechanical components like Bolt, Nut, or spanner. if yes let them tell us how easy it was cost-wise and effort-wise, maybe u will then appreciate the job of the prof. arggghhh!!!!! . . . . . . .Nairalander i fear una oh!!!!!! |
ak47mann: U don't invent something by mistake, Nigeria has not undertaken such a task or set such targets for herself.I don't think it is normal to claim a victory or upper hand when your so called opponents are not even aware u are trying to outperform them. Comparing biafran innovation (a feat well below average) to one Nigeria never really attempted is mean. It is funny how NLders have misinterpreted the topic, the work of this prof in question is not meant to look standard it is suppose to demonstrate something quite simple to understand, that he can apply his knowledge to design a basic four-wheel vehicle that can reverse like normal cars, he has simply demonstrated that by building it not minding how ugly it looks. looking closely at his work there is something like a tank inside the strucure/main body NLders have misinterpreted that too. it is not suppose to be or armoured vehicle. |
From Wiki Landmark degree award After a period teaching at the University of Lagos, he returned to the Imperial College London for a research study in the field of Vibration, and was awarded the degree of Doctor of Science, Dsc. He was the first African to be awarded the Doctor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, at the Imperial College London. There are plenty reasons why Nigeria is backwards and one of them is the amount of illiterate Bsc holders on Nairaland, The invention has nothing to do with the structure, its the engine. You guys should try and read the link posted by the op before making comments.
i tried 2 make em understand but it seems no one is willing to change their initial stance. |
Honestly on a closer look the place does not seem to have any feature of a sch, i cant see chairs, desks, or board, it looks like a abattoir. . . Beaf should pls give us name and location of the school. or should give us pix with better view. |
seems Oyedepo curse is working pple. potential/likely BH sponsors failing in health. lets see how it goes. |
manny4life:Ur definition of prototype is flawed there(no insult intended). Without a sophisticated workshop where perfect curves and shapes can be fabricated the man has done above average. Its not all cases of design that is preceded by an order/request from a big company like u used for illustration. The outlook of the autonov is not bad at all. If the prof had a sizable research grant, then it would have been below standard, but for some one doing it for demonstration purpose i don't think the outlook being presentable is really a priority. all it need do is the movement in both direction with minimal power consumption cos normal cars and vehicle can move in both direction but the reverse movement consumes far more fuel and leaves car prone to damages if used for too long. |
Nice one there from GEJ and his pals, that's what i expect from them: be offensive and stop being defensive, play it like Man u, Barca, and Chelsea, take the game to them gradually not sneeking to attack like madrid . . . . .lol |
Beaf:the vehicle is not suppose to be standard and flashy one for use, for those of u who don't understand its a prototype (a first copy with no special machinery or set up used in its production).it is meant to demonstrate engineering principle in practice, at least this is far more better than the War-Firecracker which is just a minimal modification to an aircraft. Plus it is not an invention but demonstration. |
in your own opinion beaf, what is wrong with the school? |
they know oil money can be realized quick and easily so they are going after it, France and UK have upper hand in Libya, US is only taking an opportunity any nation rightly positioned will take advantage of. |
For all celebrating and welcoming the US, be careful oh! US coming to Nigeria does not guarantee nothing but US interest, which i strongly believe is the oil. for all we know the US could be indirectly behind BH problem, or what do u think will make GEJ so confused and helpless about BH, all we keep hearing is some pple/suspects have been apprehended somewhere. they should be given limits cos i don't want full occupation like Iraq. |
it is not a must to live in Lagos y-not relocate to a rural community and make a decent life 4 demselves there |
i don't see anything thing special in the said planes, they simply modified (minimally) the planes in question to accommodate a passive device. i believe every state in Nigeria can achieve that in a war situation. |
nakedall:I hope NLders can come out brave and commend something great and truly visionary like u just pointed out. Give out the right education at the state level and at right time is what am saying not giving it when the sound of Boko Haram is loudest and sending out wrong signal about competence of the Federal Govt. |
AjanleKoko:I dont get the message. What do u mean what one's worth? do they pay according to your negotiating power or what exactly pls break it down for me. |
A man with a hand bag sounds suspicious 2 me,it could be a cheap show of competence from Ndlea especially after the BabaSUWE saga. |
Beaf:what i am saying is this: after ND militancy and amnesty, FG might appears to be showing sympathy tomards the BH prone zone (UBE fund) which i strongly blieve they are, and it may encourage new dimension of lawlessness around the country, all in the name of the-govt-is-not-doing-enough. Why not let them hold the govt at the state level responsible, that way nobody has any excuse for attacking anxthing that represents the federal character (including NYSC). IDeyMAJE:what r u talking abt here, pls if u can' t reason along why not make way for those who can. |
. . |
Really they built three planes in three years. and they cant perfect simple automobiles for commercial deployment!!! i will like to know, did the planes fly ? if yes. did they take off and land successfully like a normal plane. cos we know our pple and their quality of produce.did they build its part or they just assemble/modify use. I already googled "biafran made missiles" like some ask us to and i cant seem to see any direct claim on biafra making a missile or aircraft/planes. it gave me 2.6 million results, please can u direct me to the exact page/article. |
Instead of going to the state and checking corruption they are busy sharing money they dont have enough of (Fuel subsidy) in the name of UBE.if this has anything to do with Boko Haram, then I see it as failure of the federal govt to check corruption at state level. This administration might just be starting problem beyond its own reach by sympathizing with terror oriented minds like these almajiris. |
otokx:1). For the records i didn't vote for him or his opposition but it is pretty clear that Uduaghan rigged that election with few pple's consent. stop attacking me and face the message more, pls. 2). Most pple i Know actually voted Great Ogboru but Uduaghan has this hold on delta state. his hold on delta state is such that the common man ,except his Thugs/Loyalist are hardly needed when they are rigging it. |
asha 80:How easy is it to get an igbo man sell his land to your at reasonable price? how do they see u. what is the attitude of an igbo when his neighbor is in need? i can keep asking these question and u will easily see what i mean by "settle down easily". in my first comment. |
i quess i will still go cos ur opinion says Lagos, Benin might be better especially if the job does not give much stress an permits me to attend to other thing then i will consider it from there. As for pay its Manageable for Lagos sha, but i will like meet them first and see what they will offer. |
Thanks so much Bro, i really appreciate. |
asha 80:U still can't follow the message properly? well at least ur last comment has improved a bit u most be a good learner . . . . . I know exactly what i am saying here, i am not one of internet Know-it-all who come here to make cheap claims. if u are in doubt pay a visit to the east yourself and see how hostile an average visitor perceives them to be or better yet ask one in locality. |
The report of this robbery draws similar comparison to that of Bowen In Iwo, Osun state that happened about a month back. They came in like commandos/about 50 in number and used machetes and bombs along with gun freely. something tells me they r the same set of robbers that raided Bowen. |
Pls Igbo pple leave lag alone oh na only im dey 4 ground, after them criminalize FESTAC for all men them wan criminalize lag at large abi Lagosian no go gree easily oh. . , . .LOL |
PointB:you are simply what u are . . . a PointB, If u can read properly then u will notice the word "easily" while i was describing the ease with which the Lagosian 'in principle a non-SE especially Yoruba' will settle down in Igboland. Pls stop following me about NL i dont go around attacking ppl, i strongly suggest u be civilized and focus on the message and not the messenger next time. asha 80:as 4 u asha 80, if u can mis a simple fact twice like u have just done, then i doubt the soundness of your mind. Like i told your NL Mentor above be civilized and stop chasing me abt NL. |
Uduaghan was neva voted in he rigged it. R u in the ND at all. otokx: |
The best things are definitely free. From grace to gift of love to his faithfulness they are all free and we all enjoy them whether u like it or not. That statement has it meaning rooted in the bible. |

. If you ask someone before they designed the War-Firecracker as you put it, what is it used for? The answer s plain and simple; it's a local made missile used for offensive attack. Now ask someone what is Autunov used for? There is no clear cut defined use for this vehicle but it having the capability of running in two direction IS NOT an ability but a feature.
