Nice one guys, but u guys should also note something, All these school usually collect $100 as application fee, so they will never want to stop you from applying, just be sure of your research and let's pray to God to help us all. I spoke from a friend experience.

Mean not to disrespect anybody or any info, but just want us to filter enough to gain the admission.
You have a point though. No problem bro.

Seems y'all arent too friendly here. I posted something but got no reply cry. Its cool.
anyways I'm applying to canada and been going through the threads starting from part 6 down to 9. I am applying to schools in ca & US.
I'm applying to McGill & Uottawa, and I emailed the program coordinators directly and got the necessary info from them because I noticed some stuff said here is different from reality as regards to grades and all.

@ kessluvall you talked about applying for law with a 2:2 You can apply to Uottawa, I emailed a program coordinator and she sent me a link which confirms they accept 2:2. and you are in greater luck if your last 2 years in Uni, you scored high as they also check that.

http://www.grad.uottawa.ca/Default.aspx?tabid=3798&moncontrol=DisplayEqui&country=Nigeria#display

And also McGill depending on the dept, they consider applications slightly below 3.0 if the applicant has strong application(letter of ref9especially), SOP etc)

because the lie being sold to most applicants who scored 2;2 is to write PGD and then use it as a route to masters. that is a BIG LIE. Yes most canadian schools do not take 2:2 but it takes perseverance and a well detailed research to search for a school, look for the program coordinators and send them a detail mail. they will surely get a reply.
i know 2 folks who finished with a 2:2, they went to canada to do PGD and then after they applied for msc. all of them rejected them. they more or less wasted 3m on Pgd that is not even worth more than a professional course certificate.

so in summary, if you have a low grade (3.49-2.90/5.0 CGPA) and you want to apply to canada. have 2 things in mind- check the school requirements and go extra by emailing the program coordinators, and also depends on the course, if u are applying for a course like comp sci or pharmacology or nursing with a 2:2 u don jabbo. but if its a course like social work, art etc that doesnt draw so much applications, then give it a go and present a strong application.

P;s: if you are in McGill we can relate or applying for occupational heallth pls klets chat
Oga calm down jare. You just pointed out the song I was singing some pages back that people should please mail the graduate advisors of their intended departments to hear from the horse's mouth and not listen to someone online dictate their fate.

@thesoj, @ayooluwatoni, @omooba have been of great help here. It's always easy to just come here and be of great help at a point in time. But if one wants to be consistent, especially when it's not like you are trying to get something in return, the person should be commended. Nobody has been unfriendly in my opinion, people should also learn to research for information. A little research doesn't hurt.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: 180k Job Offer (fresh Graduate) Or Paid Master Degree In Canada By Parent? by sholay2011(m):
Your friend is one lucky person. Tell him to defer the admission while he works for like 6 months. Shebi experience na experience? If he has really thought out everything, depending on his field...he may just go for his Masters.

And how much is 180k?! Choi! Everyone is scared of taking risks. What if he gets to Canada and gets a better-paying job in this same field, obviously in a better environment and so on? It's not all about 'experience'. And who told you he would even want to 'come back' after he is done with Masters? It's Canada, not UK that will send you back immediately.

If he decides to go for his Masters later, make e get him visa for hand o before resigning. grin

Your friend should simply discover his vision and stop throwing Nairaland into pandemonium. Either way may end up not working out, he should know his way which is the one that works out for him.

Many of the recent questions on this thread have been repeatedly answered over the last month, including your question about where to find a notary in Lagos. This trend is not good, as it devalues the thread if the same information is repeated every fifteen pages.

In any case, the answer to your question is easy to find. Either use Google to search through this thread, or look through posts from the past month in Part 9.

Do a google search of [notarize document lagos "travelling to canada part 9" site:www.nairaland.com] without the square brackets and the answer is in the first few search results.

No offense intended, it just hurts to see that all the information repeatedly and recently provided on here is not being put to good use. It is discouraging. I'm not trying to start a fight or anything... just stating the facts. Pls don't be offended.
Really true. You don try.

Exactly.

Or make she buy a farm sef. But you know, our celebrities want to 'belong'. This is not a good investment in my opinion. I just hope she has the passion to back the business up in case people don't go there, make she just carry tape go dey dance like mad woman for there.

And what has Nigeria turned into that a woman can't have some success without the belief that she slept her way reaching there? Pathetic. Funny thing is some of the ladies insulting her on this thread are being loathed by people they are unaware of who think they also slept with Oga patapata to be in whatever position they occupy in their offices, even if it isn't true. It's a cycle.

ayooluwatoni:
You're over 30 years old, you're working, but your dad and sis will be sponsoring you. There may be a problem.

1. I hope there's a progression in the course you studied (UG) + your role in your current employment + the course you wanna study in Canada.

2. I hope you have something to show for the work you've been doing for over 3 years......things like landed properties, fixed/current assets etc

3. The leave letter is not compulsory, but please ensure you get the introduction letter, it speaks volume.

4. If you have saved up enough money which will be sufficient for your tuition+living+ miscellaneous expenses in Canada, I will advise you just sponsor yourself, or if you're married, ur spouse can sponsor/co-sponsor you.
But if that is not possible, I will advise you move enough funds from your sister's account to your dad's account and to your own personal account, and have just 1 sponsor or you be the co sponsor.

Please don't get me wrong, it is not bad that your sis or/and dad wanna sponsor you, but age is against you, and you're working......so if I were to be the VO, I would question what u've been doing with your money, and probably conclude your job is not paying enough, so yoi wanna try your luck in Canada.

I wish you all the best.
Wow! This post should be saved for ages. *Jams hands continuously *

Christianity EtcRe: Who Should Get My Tithe - The Church Or The Poor? by sholay2011(m): 5:06pm On Sep 27, 2015
SirWere:
How much is your tithe that makes you think it will have impact on a poor person's lifehuh Afterall, It is 10 percent and unless you work in the top top posts, it isn't too substantial. However, If you and other Christians in your drop that 10 percent, it becomes very substantial indeed. Now, your church forwards part of the money to the HQ; Use some for the upkeep of the church and, believe it or not, actually use the remaining for Charity! That's the honest truth bro...........
I am firmly in support of tithe but your post is very very silly. What can't 10% of one's income do in a poor person's life? You don't need to work in 'top top posts'. If I collect 100k as salary, 10k is enough to make a difference. Little drops of water form the mighty ocean. Or are you insinuating the church will give one poor person 200,000 because everyone has contributed their 10% together? Pfft!!! No be only one poor person the church go use the tithe of many to help.

I will need you assistance as I intend applying for Power systems and Energy in the Uni of Man... Getting an Academic Supervisor have proved abortive... Kindly advice on what to do
Maybe you should consider other schools?

I assume getting an academic supervisor is a requirement in your intended department? If you are sure you have exhausted almost all options of getting one at UofM, consider other Canadian schools that offer your course.

Hello Fellow N-Landers, I'm a newbie here. My name is Hart & am currently in NYSC. I really enjoyed all your contributions so far. I am also planning on graduate study (MSc Agric Econs). I had 3.84/5 from Uniben.
@ Sholay2011, Bros I will really need ur advice oooo, its fortunate u are on this thread.
I don't really want to do GRE, I need advice. I hv Memorial, Manitoba and McGill in mind
I don't really know for other Canadian Universities you listed but UofM requires GRE especially for the department you mentioned.

And why don't you want to take GREhuh Please, always back up statements like that with reasons to avoid an unfavourable response from me. I don't have much advice to give you than to simply ask you to CHECK the websites of these schools YOU listed here and your intended department to see if GRE is a requirement.

It is not everything that NL gives you a safe answer. My people, please know more about your intended department, school and their requirements and your chances of admission. Nobody on NL, even someone that's already a student of the school or department can exclusively tell you your fate.

Your CGPA is okay and I hope your CGPA for the last two semesters is close to if not above 4.0. Nonetheless, mail a graduate advisor or a lecturer in the department of your intended school to get feedback on your chances.
