Have you experience weakness while fasting? How do you get to pray when your streght seem gone ?

a nice cool shower anytime during the fasting period gives me supplementary energy for another 30 - 45mins, this is enough time to pray. However, our bodies may not all work the same way for example, a heavy meal the night before the day of a fast makes me very hungry the next morning. So one way I stay strong is to eat a light high carb meal not later than 7 - 7:30pm the night before.

I once embarked on a 3 day fast, years ago and after day one I began to experience weakness in my limbs and other parts. So bad that I couldn't even pray again, I didn't have strength to pray, I would just open my mouth and no voice comes out. I began to count time and hours. I even too a walk to distract myself frim the weakness, i almost fainted . I had to hold an elctric pole . Finally I broke the fast that 2nd day concluding that I would have strengh to pray better when I eat.

How did you conquer weakness of the body in a fast.
How do you get strength to pray?

general body weakness is common experience during prolonged time without food, your body expects to be fed as usual and when it doesnt come, your brain immediately sends the signal to you; those are the moments you feel like breaking the fast.
However, from the third day of fast, you suddenly feel strong again (God2man mentioned that as well), I mean so strong you can even sprint. By this time, your body has switched to survival mode and is literarilly feeding on itself, thats when you begin to lose weight. That explains why people can go on for seven days or more, I had a friend who went ten full days and its all the same experience.

Wow! Fasting, It used to be my specialty some 18 years back. The longest I've gone is 3 days without food or water also once every week I went a whole day without food and water as well. I remember back then, every month of July was a month of marathon fasting, would go the whole month on fruits and light meal.
My addiction to fasting didnt go down well with my parents especially my Mum, they felt I was suicidal. I had to count my ribs each day and any day I had a hard time seeing my ribs, I would immediatly feel I need revival.
The experience was awesome for me at that time, it made me feel like a spirit, I'm over thirty now and I dont think I'm that adventurous anymore

I cured my addiction a long time ago. . . took a break from 'posting' NL, now I just sit and watch. It actually took me a while to know that on NL, nobody is ever wrong and nobody is ever right. its fun seeing the same old gist wearing new titles and seeing same ol people engage in war of words so fierce that the two world wars put together only looks like childs play.
I shall still be watching from a distance and may return if my new found hobby gives me the chance.

I've stayed in 5-star hotels outside the country and there isn't much difference from what we have in transcorp. infact, transcorp is way better than some I've been to.
I've also stayed in transcorp for ten straight nights but didnt experience power failure. I can boldly say we have good hotels in Nigeria.

@OP, this may very well work but I do not know of the long term effects. I dont also know about trucks but it works well on perkins and lister petter engines except that it burns faster; even pure DPK works on some diesel engines.
Find out which engine your truck runs on and whether it may have bad side effects on it, otherwise, you can give it a try.

I recently downloaded kaspersky anti-virus from Ovi store to my Nokia N8. since the installation, my N8 would literally freeze until i power off; it repeats after the phone comes on again and again. I cant even uninstall the app cos it wont let me. Any clue what could be the cause?

@Jo, I sometimes get disappointed at the way you stand up for people you barely know. now look at this: eddie long was accused of something, he denies involvement and vows to fight till the truth comes out; suddenly, hes paying hush money with church funds. Now here comes Creflo asking for Eddie to be forgiven and describes the situation as a 'wreck' for eddie.
Now the question is, how do we forgive a man who will not admit wrong doing? Creflos message clearly proves Eddie was involved but until he humbles himself like the likes of Jimmy swaggart, theres no point asking for peoples forgiveness let alone Gods

Yes there were actually 3 tithes.
Take time to read the whole chapter of Deuteronomy 14.
After that then check out the the scriptures on tithes as quoted below with highlights.

Deut. 14:22-27:
22  Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year.
23  And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always.
24  And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; or if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee:
25  Then shalt thou turn it into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose:
26  And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household,
27  And the Levite that is within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee.

This was obviously tithe to be eaten by the individual, his family and also the poor, levites etc and it was to be taken to a place where God has chosen to place his name.
If the place was far? That means the place could change from time to time and this was obviously not at the temple.
This tithe was for the people to learn to fear God.


Deut. 14:28-29
28  At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates:
29  And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.

This tithe was laid up within the peoples gates for the poor, levites also, fatherless, stranger etc so that they could come and eat within the peoples gates and be staisfied.
This was so that the Lord might bless the works of their hands.


Now in the book of Numbers, see the scriptures on tithes:

Numbers 18:21 & 24
21 And, behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tenth in Israel for an inheritance, for their service which they serve, even the service of the tabernacle of the congregation
24But the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer as an heave offering unto the LORD, I have given to the Levites to inherit: therefore I have said unto them, Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.

This tithe was brought to the house of the Lord as an offering. This is the one that was given to the Levites specifically. This was the portion due them.

I hope you understand better now.

No qualms, but what happens to the two other kinds of tithe? why is it not practiced as well?

Well , it is a sad thing. I prayed a prayer of forgiveness for the body of christ. That God should forgive us for every manipulations done in his name. With the likes of Peter Popof and co. We don't need to help God. We should function under the level of grace he has given us and pray for more grace to do greater thing.

Very Very sad indeed and to think that these men have no remorse for what they do makes it even more disturbing. Popoff was caught in the 80's and is back on the pulpit with a brand new scam and what I find hard to understand is 'why do people have such a short memory?' cos the man has followers still. How sad
W.V Grant was also exposed in the 90's by the same James Randi who exposed popoff, even though the evidence against Grant wasn't so convincing, however, Derren has exposed him yet again, this time with overwhelming evidence that was made public last month. But the truth is his followers will fight back with the most ridiculous defense.
My point here Jo is that these men are not Christians, they are wolves in sheep's clothing and the sooner people are made to steer clear of them the better. I'd rather you intercede for Gods children that they be shielded from the corruption of these evil charlatans who have found their way into the midst of Gods people through mass media.

They carefully selcted the fake ones to project a message. they should have come to africa.  If you want to see Raw power of God , come to africa. The local village ministers who are casting out devils and giving prophecies didn't under go any psychological or psychic training. We can't deny the realities of miracles in the body of christ. I am a witness. Many have been wrought through me.

Definitely, I agree with you that not all faith healers are fake, but a whole lot of them are especially the ones that are always in our face. As for Derren going to the US for this project I'll explain why: Televangelism and major christian charismatic fundamentalism originated from the US, remember the asuza street revival? from then till now, most of the influence in the church today is from America. Even today, the major players in the game are mostly US based. its only wise for Derren to go to the root where it all started.

He made attempts to penetrate the big shots (Kenneth Copeland) but that wasn't possible because of heavy security. His initial plan was to stage his final demonstration in a well known charismatic church but when they found out that their effort could ruin the career and reputation of the owner of the PR company, they had to change plans.(how nice of him, at least he has more conscience than the people hes trying to expose)

If it was this difficult carrying out this project in the US, it will be almost impossible doing it in Africa. the odds will overwhelm him. The same things happen here in africa, even worse but people would rather keep quiet.

Another idea I don't agree in the video is the fact that people can be healed by suggestion. I think they acted that out. But I will make my own research on it . If people can be healed by suggestion ,we don't need pain killers again do we? Especially those who are in constant agony all through the night.

Jo, Everyone may not be as honest as you are; I made the same mistake years back but I have learnt my lesson. I became born again when I was as little as eight, I started speaking in tongues at age eleven and at age thirteen I was already ministering in public. I had a sincere and innocent Christian upbringing and all I ever knew growing up was Jesus. By the time I was fourteen, I had read the whole bible through and through five times; I thought every Christian was as sincere and straight forward as I was until much later.
Having to Know later in life that there were Christians who didn't think it was a sin to lie, fornicate, steal take drugs was shocking to me, having to know that I had to watch my back with certain people who should be my brothers  made it even more disheartening.
You may be sincere Jo and get genuine results, but please heed my advice and watch your back, not everything is as it appears. you may not hear much from me on NL as I just learnt that it is better I act more and talk less. for me, Derren has given me something to think about.

How many people will you warn? Did he violation or by consent . That's one point. If it's by consent , warning ladies will not suffice. But the man surely has a weakness to deal with. That doesn't mean he was never a christian . He needs help. It is not because he is a minister. The problem had been there all along undealt with. But what have you done to help him personally?  What reason does he give? Is he happy about it? Is he struggling to stop or he enjoys that lifestyle. No child of God love to live in sin.

If he make boast of his lifestyle . It's either he is not a christian or he is under demonic influence but if he is sad about this thing , he need s help . But the help is not to publish his weakness to everyone. Just like robert liardon got help. But I would have loved to know his attitude towards things lifestyle. Did he admit or deny.  Did he justify it. Is he sorry?

He has every reason on planet earth to justify his deeds, at one point, a group of brethren were sent to talk to him  when he was cohabiting with a girl he stopped talking to almost all of them. I think he has gotten to the point where his conscience is solid steel.
Thats why I asked for your comment on the derren brown video, there was Rev W V Grant who some years ago was exposed for false miracles and lies. he was imprisoned for tax fraud after many years, hes out and is doing the same things again. derrens video clearly shows him exposed once again deceiving brothers and sisters in christ.

I agree completely with you, however, there are certain grey areas you did not address.
In as much as we have doctrinal differences and sometimes clash here on NL, I acknowledge the fact that largely, we are still brethren. But let us not also forget that we are all humans and we have the right as humans to enjoy our everyday life.
having said that, I would want to draw your attention to situations were deliberate fraudulent and premeditated wicked actions by a so called 'Christian' leads to a bitter disadvantage of another believer. I will give a few examples in as much as I will avoid calling some names.

Some people on this forum have either been victims or have had loved ones or friends who have fallen victims to such situations; and there a several other thousands and even millions the world over that are falling prey everyday.
We have seen ministers who were exposed as frauds over the years, these are men who for several years have deliberately hoodwinked thousands and sent scores to an early grave. (please note the use of the word 'deliberate') will you also call these ones brethren?

I am 101% on your side when you say we should intercede and not criticize, yes but this is for brethren who are unknowingly going astray. When you have a s called brother who devices schemes to take advantage of people he calls brethren, then I dare say that such a person cannot be called a Christian; he should be exposed for what he is so that the true brethren may be safe.

Let me use a friend of mine as an example: He is presently a pastor of about 2000 members; we grew up together as christians back in the days and of all of us, he was the only one that got into full time active ministry. somewhere along the line he began to lose it, he started having several illicit affairs and would always confide in me. After several years, his ministry began to grow and so did his influence. even though he was close to me, I was having doubts as to what he was turning into. At a point, he started having huge favour with wealthy men, they would allow him into their family and then he would defile their daughters. he continued doing this for all the families he got into; infact, he turned into a sexual predator.
He had his way with words so his ministry kept growing, one day I paid him a visit and he showed me a passport, it was a south African passport with his picture on it and a different name he told me he wanted to travel to SA to preach in a friends church, he was all about the honorarium he would get if he was able to raise enough funds in the church.
Today, I see him on facebook, he is hardly in the country spreading his poison all over africa and asia, he inboxed my facebook last week that he was in malaysia. I know him and I know he has no goodwill to offer anyone, I know if he gets into any family, he begins to look for young ladies there. If I can warn a couple of people to steer clear of him have I done wrong? if call him a fraud, am I touching Gods anointed?

Yet we have more and more of his type around the world masquerading as brethren but they are not; they have affluence and influence and as such pose a threat to the true brethren.
in my view, I think they should be stopped as they are not part of the fold!

I havent checked on these people. And I don't know about barking like a dog thing. But the holyghost sure manifest in different ways. People can sing in the spirit , laugh in the spirit , groan in the spirit. People can get excited in the spirit and make all sorts of noise. That shouldn't be atttributed to the devil.

Do you cast out devils? I cast out devils and I see all manner of manifestations. When the anointing of God hits, the devils will react ,it doesn't matter what noise they make . What of the village churches? Does the pastor have connection with yoga to have manifestations of power.

These manifestations have been there and it's dangerous to attribute the power of God to devils . Jesus had these manifestations likewise the early church

7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.

26 And the unclean spirit, throwing the man into convulsions and screeching with a loud voice, came out of him.

Mark 9:20

Mark 9:25-26
25 When Jesus saw that the people came running together, he rebuked the foul spirit, saying unto him, Thou dumb and deaf spirit, I charge thee, come out of him, and enter no more into him. 26 And the spirit cried, and rent him sore, and came out of him: and he was as one dead; insomuch that many said, He is dead.

"he was as one dead" means he fell under the anointing.

Remrmber that not all jesus did was documented. We should be careful in criticising what we don't know. As much as there are wrong things in our world , we should not destroy faith of others in the truth. The other side is the danger of falling into blasphemy.

Mark 3:29-30
29 But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation: 30 Because they said, He hath an unclean spirit.

Yes Jo, the scriptures above describe various demonic manifestations, this we know and have always known; I have seen quite a number of them too.
What is very puzzling and is indeed what the op is trying to put accross is that these manifestations are now seen amongst christians but this time around, they call it the 'glory of god'

when you attribute the workings of Gods spirit to the devil, it is called blasphemy. why would church copy hinduism why can you think that the devil imitates the holyspirit as his custom is. the holy spirit works in divers ways. did jesus shadow heal the sick?. but peters shadow did. did jesu use handkerchief to heal the sick? no but paul did it. the fact that the egyptians magician turned rods to snake like Moses did not mean Moses was a magician. satan may have counterfeit for every truth, but that should not make us destroy the faiths of others by calling truths counterfeit.Jesus didn't tell the apostles everything. he sent the holy spirit to do the job. laying on of hands has always been a principle in God. the facts that certain religion practice should not make us destroy the original.

Where is Tod Bentely today? Where is his so called lakeland revival? This tells you what kind of fruit these moves bring forth; Yet you will forbid us to openly condemn these things.

The conversation I would have loved you to publish is the one where you admitted that the blind woman I prayed for said she got healed . And you began trying to convince me that that's not what she had said before. Since you document phone calls. I would have loved you to published your conversation with the woman.

incidentally, the recorded call happenes to be my return call to sister doreen in which she shunned me and then almost immediately, your call came in. We talked about a lot; quite interesting conversation.

Very brilliant work by Derren Brown; I couldn't help but watch the video again and again. This is one bold step in exposing these greedy and wicked charlatans who prey on unsuspecting believers.
I particularly love Derrens demonstration from 17mins45secs into the video clip showing how these criminals use very subtle techniques to decieve the gullible. Then towards the end of the video, he did another very brilliant job in exposing pastor W.V Grant.

Sir john is lying in his teeth. And he knows what he is doing. That lady got healed of total blindness after I prayed for her. She testified to John. He called me to give another story. I was shocked. I called the lady back She said he was lying. Anybody who cares can follow up on the story.

I dont have anything against you Jo, I've said it over and over again. I cant call you a fraud because I do not have facts to do that.
Even when I say things about Chris, it is only based on what I know and have seen with my eyes; for instance, you can never see me comment on any thread that says Chris stole money or that he is a womanizer, thats because I do not have evidence. But if you say Chris stages miracles, then you will hear my voice because I have seen it with my eyes.
