It's not about population but the relevance of the community.

In Galatian 3, Paul was emphasising that Christ death would come to nothing if they insist on works and circumcisions as a way to obtain righteousness. It has nothing to do with some having doubt about death of Jesus.

The letters of Ignatius who some referred to as pseudepigrapha was written in the 2nd century warming against heresy amongst some sects who had developed legend stories and myths about Jesus.

Some of this legend stories that emanated in 2nd century include Jesus talking at birth, Jesus cursing a boy at age 12 yrs, Jesus didn't die but rescued by God and taken directly to heaven.
