Slynation: Imagine going on lockdown for HIV aids, I guess we would have been on lockdown for years now because testing will soon be going on... Government should open everywhere and let all keep observing protocols... after all...! ! People are recovering automatically... But since the virus came for the elders, they are still living in fears Covid is an STI? |

I don't understand.
It seems well staged to me. A few days ago the governor's daughter tested positive . |

Stillthebest: Even if the govt provides all these, thinking about the attitudinal approach of Nigerians to things, the lackadaisical thinking of many untrained, unworthy teachers, the children or the illiterates and even the literates who don't think covid-19 exists, the mushroom schools, the 'legbemole' classrooms and undisciplined stereotypical nature of people like Mrs Kosijo in my street who's a teacher but thinks Corona doesn't exist, would u allow your child to resume school in Lagos? Thank you . Let's start with the fact that both students and teachers don't believe in covid first or think it's not a serious matter . I mean some organizations don't even bother with sanitizing people again, talk more of schools . |
Education › Re: Lagos To Give 10,000 Radio Sets To Pupils For Homeschooling by SirWarlock: 12:23pm On Jul 01, 2020 |
bolseas: Instead of radios, why not provide the necessary facilities in the school premises to enable pupils resume. Hand sanitisers, liquid soap, water tanks, fumigate the school premises, purchase face masks for both pupils and teachers etc...
I wonder how these politicians reason. it's not that simple. It's not news that things just don't work in Nigeria. |

ayo2008: Funny country! Ordering Schools to resume without holistically looking at the safety guidelines. As we speak, we have public schools in this country without running pipe borne water / bore hole water, so handwashing mechanism is not feasible in such a school. Why put the life of student/pupil in danger? And I bet you establishing those things is going to be another story . |

Jaemes: Since we have asymptomatic patients or carriers , and their plan is to resume school. Then , the government should setup testing teams in schools and quarantine patients , so they can be assured those that are learning are safe and free from the virus. It's easier that way , instead of just opening at once and putting everyone at risk. This Government has no concrete plan for anything concerning this epidemic. Including state governments also, cos till now some states don't even have their own labs . |
Education › Re: Reopening Of Schools: NUT, NMA Kick by SirWarlock: 10:07am On Jul 01, 2020 |
Angrymode: I believe if FG wants to resume schools for graduating classes, all the teachers and students involved must first be tested to ascertain their status. A time frame should then be given for those infected be quarantined and treated for them to be able to resume in time with the others.
Anything short of this is a senseless move
I know everyone's opinion counts but those criticizing the NMA and NUT on this their stand not to reopen schools, is either still joking with this virus or is senseless like this current FG. This would actually be a good step for whatever safe reopening they're cooking up but they can't do it cos of economic reasons. And testing is kind of tricky, you might test -ve today then end up contracting the virus the next day. |

themanderon: In Israel where the government did same there was a sudden outbreak and the same government had to quickly shutdown the schools. Some countries that had cleared their covid cases are suddenly having a resurgence of cases. Knowing how incompetent our government can be will they be able to handle an outbreak Beautiful thing is that Covid 19 knows no politician or citizens, no rich or poor so exposing those teachers and kids will be exposing the whole society to the virus. No they can't. It's the big issue here. Unless they plan on testing everybody involved before resumption which can't happen . |

Is it that our governments are so insensitive? The way the age bracket of uni students have coped with it? Let's not kid ourselves. Investnow2017: South Africa! 128 deaths? Where did you get it wrong? probably when we got tired of hearing stay at home . In all seriousness I think if you couldn't track of infections at the earliest time of this pandemic then there's no stopping it. Most of Australasia come to mind. From what I see it seems like Nigeria, people don't care about it again, acting like it's disappeared . My only question is why their authorities feel unbothered and want to open up more. Maybe they were well prepared for this stage , or maybe these are signs they're close to their peak . |
