Oga, you don't have any point. It's people like you that said petrol import is cheaper than local refinery. Let me tell you once you have the iron ore better you produce locally and tariff any imported iron or steel product till it's more expensive than your local steel product. The extra income from the tariff can be used to improve your local production technology till it's cheaper than Chinese products. Importation kill jobs and development of local technological know how. Besides, you conserv your Forex while making your local currency stronger. Oga pls stop this your senseless argument. The word cheaper is comparative to the value of your currency against the Dollar. Let me ask you what is the value of the iron ore on the Nigerian soil ?? Why do you think it's cheaper to import steel products from china because it's cheaper to import and ship it down to Nigeria?? Listen to yourself are you even making any sense??. We just built a railway line at over $1billion dollars loan from china. That iron was imported and major reason the project was so expensive. If it was locally produced the project will be a fraction of what it was.
mrvitalis:

Some of you just wake up and start saying what you were told

China was a massively undeveloped country when they practice protectionism

Hongkong was over 50% of China GDP at a point now it's less than 5%

India has never been a protectionism economy

Are all of you missing the point I'm making?

Protect industry you have comparative advantage on and grow it import what you don't have comparative advantage on so it can be cheaper

The political backlash is serious. No single Ibo commissioner. I even hear all the High placed Ibos in Alausa are redundant. Replaced promptly by Yorubas. Business in Lagos state gov is conducted in Yoruba.

Story for the Gods, did they force her to write memo How do you retire or monitor money paid into private account Incase you don't know only the account holder can request a statement or initiate a transfer. So how do you monitor such. Was that what she was doing as a state commissioner. Call a spade a spade. She tried to steal and was caught period.

Instead of joining heads in East to create industrial revolution, build sea port so you can gain freedom from Yoruba domination, you are busy individually erecting mansions and courtyard to show off. You go wail tire over demolition in Lagos.

Which sea is in the east?? Pls is it the Pacific or Atlantic oceans . You mean to say River port in the east. Stop all this noise pls. Dry port with railway network is best for the landlocked area.

China importe iron ore, America has oil and gas but imports you think they are fools?

Name one developed country doing what you proposed

I dare you name one developed or developing country that grew by generally limiting imports

India, china ( they joing world trade organisations only after they opened their economy to the world some time in the 90s. as we speak American has gone back to protectionism of strategic industries like their steel and iron ores. If you like import steel from China once it gets to USA they impose a huge tariff that makes it more expensive than US steel. I can't argue with you your thinking is basically stupidity cloaked in intellectual jargons. Imagine if your industrial sector is based on imputes from china?? Will you ever produce a ship cheaper than China What if war or a virus like COVID 19 breaks out and China closes it's industries down like happened previously what will happen to your industries in your country. Oga I can't argue abeg am tired if you don't get it you can't get it period.

So why exactly are you telling us why not just do it

The steel industry is owned by China we don't have comparative advantage ( meaning it's impossible to make locally made steel cheaper than imported ones)

Allow cheap steel import from China... Let's focus on what we can export to China to balance the trade ( for me Cassava chips is the most obvious solutions) lies

This is how economy works
lies. How about employment generation How about value chain. That industry will be the backbone of Nigerian industrialisation. National interest is not about where it is cheaper. Your kind of people in government are the reason the steel plant never worked.

Oga it's not only the school fees oooo. How about the other things that they do in the school like holidays abroad , excursion abroad and boasting rights etc. That school is in a class I don't belong to at the moment. I don't want only my kids to be left out of class activities because I can't afford it. Besides I don't want to be under financial pressure for luxury activities nor do I want to run to my mother like some kind of mothers boy. Anyways a man has to adjust ooo . Fake life not the best. But hopefully by August this year if Tinubu does not spring any surprises they will be back in that school . I took my family for short stay in Hallmark hotel victoria island only for my kids to bring two of their classmates to my room claiming they have been in the hotel for over 10 days fa. My dear money is good but learn to adjust quickly to changing circumstances. Though part of my problem was a diesel business gone bad coupled with the COVID 19 and Nigerian economy of resent. The combination was like 4hit combo in street fighter hyper fighting but am holding the block botten to prevent annihilation from aggressive attack by life(opponent).

I forgot to add is not only DStv I downgraded I also downgraded the school ooooo. The school my children are going now hmmm the school fees for the two of them for 1year is the school fees for their previous school for one child for 2 terms. On school fees alone am saving close to N1.5million fa. Madam is not happy ooo neither is my mum . My mum even offered to balance the school fees but I refused. But like I said it's a temporary thing. Expensive school are luxury if you can afford it. The former school had mopol escort in each school bus. The school bus is executive and only 8 children per hummer bus tinted glass etc. hmmm . Am not happy oo but what can I do!!

The school bus is it monthly? I thought it will be per term tho. Subsidy was really helping alot of us sha.

The problem with school bus is they pick the child by 6am pick like 18 other children then in the evening they drop the children by 5pm after dropping 16 other children first. Security situation is not making us have the confidence to drop all our kids in one school bus that the driver is paid only N50k monthly. He may team up with ritualist , kidnappers or simply say the children did not enter his bus. It will be a police case but will that return the children..!

A time will come when a law of death sentence or life imprisonment will be passed. Nigeria can't get better without such laws. When one administration steals the next administration may implement the law on some or all the persons in previous administration. Best if opposition parties take over. Let's wait and see

That might be the handover given to the Nigerian CEO by the non-exec.
Don't always undermine your abilities. Just like the political area, the corporate world is a nasty place.
. That was not the handover given to him pls. I can remember due to his monumental fraud and mismanagement the board of ICAN suspended him. While he set an example of stealing and embezzlement to other staffs, junior staffs including security men connived to move complete trailer loads of finished products out of the company with no documentation. Imagine 35 trailers moving out daily with no documents. A particular marketer built a popular hotel in Jos from proceed from such theft . I will not mention the name of the hotel for privacy. In less than two years the company had no working capital besides the parent company was so disgusted they refused to inject capital into the Nigerian branch. Instead they liquidated their shares. Why do you think Nestle never had a Nigerian MD till date. Pz was a similar experience but they terminated the appointment of the CEO midway and reappointed an expatriate . Till date they refused to appoint a Nigerian as you can see the company is still functioning.

Better face your job oga. But if you must run the package like I usually do simply don't talk to her in the office. You can pretend not to like each other so people don't suspect. Once she comes to your house get down to business no need to waste time. If after the business you still want to marry her look for another job.

This your story may not be true. How is the sex going that she has time to pick the phone after checking who is calling. She is celibate for 3 years and gave it up just like that to you According to you you did not take her out or spend anything on her infact you collected N1k from her and did not return it probably because you don't have. How do you even think of obtaining a girl your asking out?? You don't have ATM or transfer , you had to borrow N1k . Anyways your lies are porous. I wonder what you said to her sef in this your mumu story..
dontrulee:
Girls are very cheap and easy to get.
I met a girl 5 days ago, beautiful and endowed. Many guys including doctors have tried to have sex with her but failed, so someone came to give me the challenge. I said it was easy stuff, give me one week!

I met the girl, talked with her and she became attracted to me. She followed me to my place the second day and I tried initiating some intimacy but I failed! This girl no gree, the third day I went to her place and we went to the market together to get some stuff and she cooked for me, after eating, I tried initiating some intimacy, she refused and left her house for me. Was I too quick in my actions? Was I taking things too far? She asked me the obvious question later in the evening, do I want to Bleep her? Do I want to just play around? I gave my usual answer and she said she isn't giving me anything that she's been celebate for three years that many guys have tried and failed!

Yesterday, she came over to my place and it happened by a stroke of luck! She rode me to the heavens and she had a crazy climax, she couldn't believe what happened and when I thought she would be angry with me, she confessed she loved me and that I shouldn't toy with her brain. She claims not to love guys. Funny enough, I didn't spend any money on her, infact I collected 1k from her two days ago to buy suya and I didn't give her back.

Getting girls is very easy.

In addition, her current bf is a doctor but they haven't bleeped yet. When she was riding me yesterday, the Mumu guy called and she said she's in the hairdresser's place. Ladies can lie ehn!

Your the ignorant person. So what your saying is public money should be transferred to a private account before it can be disbursed??. Get sense please this is 2024.
TimeManager:
Betta, you're not alone in this, sensible Nigerians are with you, you'd scale through. A lot of people talk out of ignorance of the challenges she's faced with, ignorant people that have no idea how it works. You possibly can't reach out to the poorest of the poor without handling cash, lots of these vulnerable people are unbanked, so how do you send money to them without directly giving out the cash?. If you've ever been to the remote villages where these projects are being launched, there's hardly a bank or POS in those communities, you have to travel several distance before you locate a bank, couple with the fact that a lot of these beneficiaries do not own a bank account, they are largely illiterates.
