Please, when is the dividend payment date for FBNH? I thought it was supposed to be 30th May 2016 being today? If so, anyone received his/her dividend?

am happy to be here this evening, am also happy to see green dominating the market this month of May as I was shown. God is faithful. Arm robbers attacked me on 5th of this month in my house around 11pm and made away with my new laptop and all my phones, but on the contrary my God console me with greenish blessing in all my stock.
I am glad that God is already restoring what you lost. I pray more green to your portfolio. In Jesus name. Amen

Fbnh Q1 will determine the direction as well
2016 Q1 will have an improvement over 2015 Q1 and Q2 come July will still surpass 2015 Q2.
I believe this is why FBNH is delaying their result to release 2015 full year result (not too good result) alongside 2016 Q1 (improved result) with atmost few days gap.
As for N2 come June/July, I doubt due to good Q1 and Q2 results expected by FBNH new management team.
FBNH is currently harnessing every means of making profit even to the extent of charging savings accounts used in business transactions instead of using the normal current accounts of which I believe most of us were charged; making all their subsidiaries patronize each other to make sure business does not leave the holdco, to mention but few.
I believe the new management is on track to making First first above others or meeting up with the banking sector leaders.
Let us remember that Operational expenses has been the issue with FBNH and I beleive the new management will not leave that unaddressed.
This is just MY view.

FBNH likely to announce result by 1st or 2nd week of
April. Also expect an improved 1st quarter 2016 result
within April.
Please, this is not a recommendation in any way.

Sir we should be looking at (4.5 - 5) kobo dividend payment and possibly over 50% price appreciation. The appointment of Abubakar as the new chairman is already sending off positive vibes in the industry not to mention its upcoming result which will show a higher increase in underwriting income and therefore PAT, the future of this company is definitely bright. I have acquired 5.8m shares over a few years till date so I bow to your 15m.

It is a good stock, some people watched the price of their stock fall in value while Niger insurance price remained same (being penny stock) and they continually paid dividend (7%) - my investment remained intact.

What other stocks do you have sir?
Thank you so much for the information, my brother.
I am currently accumulating FBNH as long as it remains below N5.00 though it may not be the best stock for now considering their loan portfolio and CBN regulations and restrictions on banks but the resilience of this bank for over a century and the new management will of course turn the bank around on the long term. This is a prize we may not witness in the next 10 years. Succeeded with 680,000 units so far and still accumulating gradually FOR LONG TERM.
UBA is also on my radar but I take stocks one at a time and long term.

Nigerins result is surely fantastic and they will give a higher dividend than last year
I know they gave N0.035k last year but considering the anticipated higher dividend, like how much can I estimate based on the Q3 40% increase in PAT? I succeeded in gradually accumulating about 15 million units.

I hardly comment on this forum and have no intention of promoting any stock. I simply pointed out my observations on Niger insurance :
1. Consistent dividend payment for over 5 years now.
2. Stable management and good corporate governance
3. Balance sheet not great but good.
4. Increase in transactions since 2 months compared to nil transactions previously though not daily. etc.
These are few reasons I said something must be brewing in that stock though I am NOT a fan of insurance stocks

Cyriacusifeco:
Ships will sail around the world but the flat earth society will flourish. I have often wondered about the risk in buying one naira bill for fifty kobo. The Nigerian stock exchange has existed for over 50 years in our country, yet people shy away from the all important opportunity in our country's businesses by way of the stock market. To a man with a hammer, everything looks like a nail. The perverse human characteristics that is often bent on making simple things look difficult has again turned a basic advantage into a difficult situation. Our treasure land is now mistaken for an Alice in wonder land. Investing is all about putting out N1.00 today to get N2.00 tomorrow at a decent rate of return. If investors could simply focus on value of businesses and forget about the daily movement of stock prices, we wouldn't be hearing the noise we are witnessing today. The fearful have since forgotten that money is meant to flow towards opportunity and there is an abundance of that in Nigeria. I have searched through the market and have seen vast number of opportunities prevalent in our investment terrain. All I could say is 'God bless Nigeria'. Come to think of it, the all share index has advanced from 100 in 1984 to over 27,000 today. Even a novice who knows nothing about stocks but simply bought a low cost index if any exists, could make a fortune for himself. The prophets of doom have neglected the all important factor that is certain, that no matter how serene today might be for our country, Nigeria's potential is far from being exhausted. They could go ahead and pin point countless number of risks associated with investing in Nigeria, but they must not forget that our country's businesses will continue to efficiently deliver goods and services needed by her citizens. Metaphorically speaking, these commercial cows will live for centuries and give ever greater quantities of milk to boot. Think Firstbank that is over a century old, which has grown shareholders value from 27billion in 2003 to over 500billion in 2015. Not counting the dividends received by its shareholders over this period. Think Dangote cement, Nestle Nigeria plc, 7up bottling company, Zenith bank plc, Gtbank, Nascon, and countless other wonderful businesses listed on the exchange. They will continue to deliver. You must not forget that no matter how low their stock prices may fluctuate, that the billions delivered annually by these wonderful businesses will always go to its owners. Hundred years from now, people will remain banked, they will continue to construct buildings and of course, they will eat and drink!. In the end, these businesses will continue to ever increase the fortunes of its shareholders. what counts in investing is what you pay for a business -through the purchase of a small piece of it in the stock market - and what that business earns in the succeeding decade or two. There is nothing risky in buying a N600 billion business for less than N200 billion as it is for Firstbank today. Commentators often talk of “great uncertainty.” But think back, for example, to December 26-27, 1851, 1967 to January 15, 1970, the economic crisis of 1981 and June 12, 1993. The fact remains that tomorrow is always uncertain. Don’t let that reality spook you. I have always heard about the terrifying problems facing Nigeria. But It is also worthy to note that our GDP has increased to an astonishing $500 billion from $34 million in 1992. Per capita income has also grown from $395 in 1992 to $1097.97 in 2013. The prophets of doom have overlooked the all-important factor that is certain: Businesses will always prosper and the Nigerian system for unleashing that prosperity –a system that has worked wonders for over half a century despite frequent interruptions for recessions and even a Civil War–remains alive and effective. We are not natively smarter than we were when our country was founded nor do we work harder. But look around you and see a world beyond the dreams of any colonial citizen. Now, as in 1851, 1967, 1981 and 1993, Nigeria's best days lie ahead. The most important quality for an investor is temperament, not intellect. You need a temperament that neither derives great pleasure from being with the crowd or against the crowd. Successful Investing takes time, discipline and patience. No matter how great the talent or effort, some things just take time: You can't produce a baby in one month by getting nine women Pregnant. Never the less, fluctuations are inevitable in the securities market and will continue to be so. What counts is your long term average performance. Get on board and do your due diligence. Remember you don't need a 150 IQ to invest successfully. There is one thing that has always proven to be correct....no one can successfully time the market over an extended period of time. Take for an example, the buyer of FBNH at N10 is on value likewise the buyer at N4 and this counts for countless number of other businesses in our country. The greatest variable now in FBNH at its current price is survival. How many can bet on its survival? But you must know...there are no too big to fail businesses. There is nothing impossible for Mr. Market. Time is very valuable for an investor and we are taking too long for a start. God bless Nigeria.

....references are made in Buffet's voice.

DISCLAIMER: This is not a buy recommendation. In fact, I have no interest in some of the businesses mentioned above. I have often been wrong in the past and will probably be. Some of the businesses mentioned in the post above are grossly overvalued when compared to value to a private owner. Do your due diligence.
The best ever since I have been following this forum. I believe you are more of an INVESTOR. A SEED SOWER WITH WITH A FARMER'S MENTALITY.

Why will oando go into receivership when they can simply dispose of some of their assets to offset their debts? I think the board just needs to make some tough calls and accept that the acquisitions they've made in recent years have been faulty, and probably sell them off. The assets they've borrowed money to acquire in recent years have'nt been as profitable as we all envisaged. I remember some people here were praising oando and Wale after the COP deal was consummated because we all thought we would easily offset the debts from d deal and start making profit. Nobody was looking at the US crude inventory charts. Lets just sell off d assets and return to profitability. Plus the NSE and SEC should start taking corporate governance and accountability in quoted companies serious. Its not enough to fine companies that delay their results. They can easily pay d fines and continue to hold on to the results, like Oando has done. Let's have stricter penalties for delayed results. To me Receivership is totally off the cards for Oando
I WONDER WHEN PEOPLE WILL LEARN. OANDO HAS CONTINUED TO BURN THE FINGERS OF LOCAL AND SMALL INVESTORS FOR SOME YEARS YET PEOPLE WILL NOT LEARN UNTIL THEY GET BURNT TOO. A STOCK SO HOPEFUL BUT AN OBVIOUS TRAP OF REGRET

"A leading Cote D’Ivoire’s insurance company, Sunu Assurances Vie Cote D’Ivorie has received the approval of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) to acquire 28.2 per cent equity stake in Equity Assurance Plc, in a deal valued at N1.25 billion.

Sunu Assurances would be acquiring a total of 2.497 billion ordinary shares of 50 kobo each of Equity Assurance Plc, representing 28.2 per cent of the equity stakes held by Skye Financial Services and other shareholders of Equity Assurance.

Equity Assurance, which is quoted on the insurance sector of the NSE, currently has total issued shares of 8.847 billion ordinary shares of 50 kobo each trading at its nominal value of 50 kobo, representing total market capitalisation of N4.42 billion.

Reliable market sources told The Nation the quotation committee of the council of the NSE approved the transaction.

Market analysts said the sustained depreciation of share prices of Nigerian quoted companies has made several companies targets of acquisitions. The low valuation is prominent in the insurance sector, where most companies are trading at their nominal value of 50 kobo.

Chairman, Equity Assurance Plc, Mr. Adetutu Buraimo, had hinted about the acquisition at the company’s 28th annual general meeting (AGM) in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State

According to him, the company plans to seek for new equity investments from strategic investors.

Shareholders passed a resolution to increase the company’s authorised share capital from N7 billion to N10 billion.

The acquisition comes on the heels of recent rebound in the performance of Equity Assurance, which recovered from a loss of N365 million in 2013 with a profit of N310 million in 2014.

He said the group recorded a total premium of N4.846 billion last year as against N4.616 billion in 2013 while the company’s solvency also improved as shareholders’ funds increased by four per cent to almost N4 billion.

He reiterated the commitment of the board to delivering return on investments to shareholders, adding that the company hopes to achieve this by driving market penetration and expanding its frontiers in retail.

“New products will be developed to serve the needs of the insuring public, while more electronic distribution channels are being opened up to make its products more accessible to prospective policy holders,” Buraimo said.

Equity Assurance was incorporated on December 13, 1984 and was licensed to underwrite all classes of general business. The company operates with a recently increased authorised share capital of N7 billion and shareholders fund of about N5.1 billion. The company is a corporate member of the West African Insurance Company Association (WAICA) and the Nigeria Insurers’ Association (NIA), the official umbrella of registered insurance companies in Nigeria and The Africa Insurance Organisation (AIO).

Equity Assurance Plc is the parent company of Equity Assurance Limited, a Ghanaian subsidiary that started operations in Ghana in 2008."

Note the bolded. Volume traded today reflects the target. I have no information about the "SKYE financial services" but if it's Skye bank dealing, then the management might be seeking alternatives of raising capital considering the lull in the market. Former subsidiaries of Mainstreet might be put up for sale too if the bank doesn't want to adopt the Holdco model.
Please, what do you have to say about Niger insurance?
