Yinka Odumakin, National Publicity of Afenifere on Wednesday gave reasons why he alerted Nigerians on the alleged invasion of the residence of Walter Onnoghen, the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) by officers of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a statement titled ‘On The Security Cordon Around CJN House:EFCC Denial and Fake Allegations’, Odumakin who said he has never spread untruth to the public said the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders forum after it’s meeting in Abuja on Tuesday was told by an informant that EFCC officials had invaded the residence of the CJN.

He said he was mandated by the leadership of the forum to alert President Muhammadu Buhari and Nigerians on the alleged invasion.

The statement reads ” A meeting of the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders held in Abuja on Tuesday which drew leaders from the four zones that made up the group.As the meeting came to a close,an informant came in to alert us that there was a security cordon around the CJN,Mr Walter Onoghen’s residence which he claimed were EFCC men.

The leaders reviewed the information against the gestapo-like invasion of the National Assembly months back by DSS operatives without the knowledge of the then Acting President for which nobody was called to question beyond easing out the the DG DSS .It was in the same pattern that the residences of the Senate President and his Deputy were illegally sealed by the police sometimes ago just as the police just ended a six-day siege on the residence of Senator Dino Melaye.

The Leaders then resolved I should alert the public on the alarm that came to us upon which I recalled the media crew that just took our communique to release to them the information at our disposal that there was a cordon around the CJN residence which our source said were EFCC men and that the President should ask them to back off in order not to overheat the polity since the matter was already in court.

It was late last night when I returned to Lagos that I saw the EFCC statement by one Tony Oriilade laced with many FAKE allegations :

1 That I said they raided the home of the CJN.I challenge the EFCC to bring out where I said such .

2 That I said they arrested the CJN.I equally want them to substantiate that unfounded claim

3 That I circulated a “non-existent “(synctactic illiteracy ) which went viral.I want them to produce the “non-existent” video.Even the video of my address was posted online by another party .

I however note the denial by the EFCC that they were not the security agency our source indicated threw the cordon .Only that is regretted if our source had a mistaken identity of the people he saw.

If the denial is true,it raises more fear about the indiscriminate manner security agencies are deployed in a democratic setting .The country needs to know the agency that threw the cordon that led to the panic which came to us yesterday before we get to the point that criminals and bandits would begin to invade people’s homes posing to be security agencies .

Not necessarily for the jejune ,puerile and and LIBELOUS tenses of Orilade but for the general public I say:I have interfaced with the public in the media in the last 33 years and have never pushed untruth to the public once and will never do.

Good morning Nairalanders.
Please help a fellow with an advice this morning.

So, two weeks ago my landlord came to the compound, and said the caretaker who was handling the building for him was no longer in charge that they have parted ways.

Then we all complained of the state of affairs between tenants and how only some of us have been shouldering the responsibilities of repairs, and others are never contributing.

For the records, there are only four flats, two up and two down.

In his response, he said he was disappointed that we were not cooperating as neighbors.

Without proffering any solution, he left only for him to come this morning with quit notice for all for tenants.

That we should pack out two months after expiration of our various rent.

Now it should be noted that I have never owned him rent, and we pay yearly.

My current rent will expire April 30th 2019.

Now my question is this.

Is that how quit notices are served?

Is it right to give a tenant that pays yearly rent just two months to pack out?

I have never been involved with this landlord/tenant wahala, so don't know the best action to take.

Please legal people in the house, I need your advice.

Your advice will be very helpful in my next line of action.

You left out some details:
-Are you a monthly, quarterly, biannually or annually paying tenant...?
-What is in the agreement you signed on renting the property...?
Now, this are the two major things that determine when and how the landlord may eject you out of his property...

But from your post, I can see that you don't wish to pack out of the property...
So I will advice you not to seek a legal way which might only buy you but in the end you will still leave the house for him but try reconciling with the landlord and give him reasons you should stay as a continuing tenant than him rather bringing in new people whom he doesn't even know...

Several people has been contacting me since I posted the yesterday cucumber bumper harvest from our farm. They want to plant cucumber.

"What does it take to plant?
" What effort is required?
"How much will it cost?

Behind every single success story is some multiple stories of failure.

I have been planting cucumber since 4 years ago. I have planted several acres, small plots, demonstration plots etc. But I must confess yesterday harvest was just too extra ordinary.

What did I do differently?

I have kept on working and improving on the strategy to properly manage the cucumber

I have experimented with several types of seed.

The cucumber that did not germinate..

The cucumber that germinates but died at flowering stage..

The cucumber that survive the flowering but got diseased at fruiting or few days to harvest..

The cucumber that powdery mildew destroyed.

The cucumber that withered when rain stopped and I was praying for rainfall (Nigeria mentality)

The cucumber that sell at good price, the cucumber that sell at give away price and the cucumber that we throw away when there is no market



But then, in all of this, the most important is finding a way around all the challenges...

1. Using drip irrigation tapes instead of disturbing God with stupid prayer for rainfall.

2. Using plastic mulch instead of allowing weed compete with the crop thereby reducing the size

3. Using manure that can feed the plant properly with nutrients to fight against disease

4. Using quality seeds that can resist powdery mildew and all their likes

and so many other necessary things that is required to give a good yield.

5. Most important is persistence and the zeal to succeed against all odds. Farming is hard-work, It requires dedication and sacrifice.

6. Meanwhile an average Farmer believe he can just start a farm from the disjointed information he garnered from the internet, It requires acquiring knowledge.

7. An average Farmer want to start the farm because he has enough fund but with no technical know how Farming like every other professional require knowledge. Sure I have been telling people that care to listen that we will change the face of farming in Nigeria.


I see a future where farming is simplified and made easy for more people to participate.
