The whole drama was just run-of-the-mill and nothing extraordinary until I saw this picture below by the aggrieved 'baby mama'.

At first, I thought she was entitled to have a post like this, but on second thoughts, maybe I'm just looking at it wrong and she's just stating the obvious.

What do you think?

Anyone who obviously has that amount of money legally will surely have a legal and right source of income. Not everyone talks before they think.. not everyone is in a financial crisis.. some people have the money and a good source of income but just want to leave the country.

Don't let anybody pressurized you into marriage, especially if you are not financially capable. 80k monthly in Lagos na small money considering the high cost of living over there. You can live comfortably with 80k in other south west state but not Lagos especially when you marry a liability as a wife. Even if you marry a Nigeria working class lady, you will still foot all the bill alone. just focus on how to double your hustle and increase your income, you will enjoy your old age if you plan your life very well, with or without a kid or wife. Let me start. There was a time around 2 years ago when I always have discomfort after going to toilet and pains in the anus area with pool of blood in my waste for over 6 months. Infact, this made me lost my job then. It became very embarrassing to me, I can't use toilets outside, a bad odour always comes from my bottom area, stained boxers, etc I became worried and on a Wednesday, I decided to take a mirror and see what has happened to my anus. What I saw was disgusting...like wound, boils, something like a piece of flesh from inside..... I immediately took my phone to Google it, I saw haemorrhage, pile, cancer, etc has likely cause. I became sad, took the key to our church and went inside to cry to God in prayer as of my life depended on the ailment for over 2 hours.

Getting home, I discovered I can sit, stand without discomfort, and a urge came to me to go to toilet which was always afraid of but to my surprise, I finished from the toilet without discomfort. What is happening? I took the mirror again to check. The whole thing was gone, the wounds, the boils, everything was clear like the skin of a newborn baby same day. No doubt, I knew this is the supernatural hand of God.

Another was when sitting under a tree with a friend, this old woman about 15 metres suddenly asked me and my friend to come help her take down the load on her head. We stood, started moving towards her but she told us not to worry, we turned back and ask if a sudden, a big black cobra feel on where we were sitted earlier. The snake was killed. And many more seen and unseen miracles.
I know you have a more power experience. Kindly share to lift others faith in God.

Your experience is not the law. The law is the law, go and read the tenancy law of whatever state you live. So I am telling you what the law says. Your landlady pitied you, and didn't insist on the law.

A landlord can give you notice (and indeed should) before your rent expires. The notice should ideally kick in on or after the expiry of your rent. I wonder where you got the idea that a landlord cannot issue you a quict notice until after your rent expires. That's illogical. If you contend that you will not leave until your rent expires, that's fair depending on the circumstance else he/she should compensate you for terminating the contract early. But 6 months into your 1 year tenancy, a landlord can issue you a 6-month notice. Learn this, you may need it in future either as a tenant or landlord.

I think you are missing the point. A notice can be issued to you 6 months to the end of your yearly tenancy. This notice will expire on the anniversary of your tenancy. That way you have exhausted your rent and also had ample time to find an alternate accommodation. If you refuse to leave (Say notice was given on June 30 for your rent that will expire on December 31st 2021), the landlord can commence eviction proceedings against you. If your eventually leave say June 30th 2022 you will be liable to pay 6 months rent (January 2022 after your rent expired till June 2022 when you finally left). The fact that your former landlady did not pursue you for the rent does not make it law. If you meet a principled and learned landlord, they will get that rent from you (and there are legal tools to do that) except you are bankrupt or untraceable. I hope this clarifies the point the other person was trying to make to you.

On Sunday, last two weeks my mom got a bank alert notification, someone sent her 3 million naira, she wasn't expecting money from anyone.

She was shocked, she called I and my younger sister. We couldn't believe it, so we waited for three days to see if the bank will reverse the money, they didn't, so I and my sister took our mom's ATM card to withdraw and test if the money was genuine.

We bought three phones from it. That's when we believed it was real. Then I transferred #50,000 to my bank and transferred #50k into my mom's other account which we used for foodstuffs.

On the fifth day the bank froze the remaining balance of the huge money sent. But no bank official or staff called my mom. That week passed, on the 3rd day of the second week, one lady called my mom by phone in the afternoon, she said her name is Sarah from so so bank.

My mom is not literate so they spoken in pidgin, she told my mom that she knows that my mom received a #3mil last two weeks and she has spent out of it. That the money was government money. Sarah told my mom to go to any nearest ........bank and write a mandate letter authorizing the bank to unfreeze the remaining #2mil in her acct and the bank will give us the beneficiary account which she will send the money back to. And we should return the money we spent out of it immediately.

When we got to my mom's bank, we went to customer agent area, instead of writing the mandate letter, we told the agent everything that happened leaving nothing untouched. the agent said we should give him the number of the staff that called us, when he called the Sarah with his phone, Sarah gave him another name, instead of introducing herself as Sarah, she said her name is Evelyn. She now told the agent to hold my mom down till she (Evelyn) gets to that bank to arrest my mom or whatever.

The agent said on what basis would he hold my mom down. The agent checked the description when the money was sent and he couldn't understand the description. He was saying how could this be government money. He told my mom to try and return the money spent and he told us to go.

The description on the transfer when it came in on Sunday was: "National Procurement of Scanners" #3million.

Is this truly a government money?

Nairalanders what are your opinions? Because my mom is scared, Sarah or Evelyn bullied her on the phone with jail time.

You seem just to be saying things based on hearsays. Most of your comments don't play out in real life.

You don't have to collect it from me. There are other ways to carry out proof of service in court I will paste it on your door and take a photo showing the house identifiers (number, street name) and I hold a copy of that day's newspaper.

There is no rent law or edicts in Lagos State. There is a Tenancy Law of 2020. I don't know about other States. The fact that you even called it an edict shows you are not abreast of the new provision on tenancy.

What kind of protection do you need as a tenant from your landlord if you abide by the agreement you both sign. He has a right to rent his house to you or ask you to leave, and you have a right to rent from him or leave, as long as it's in the terms of the agreement which is guided by the Tenancy Law.

Landlords don't go to court because the rent is miserable compared to legal expenses. And even when a court gives judgment against the tenant, most time they can't pay. Someone owing 2 years of N450k/yr because he can't afford it becomes a recalcitrant tenant because he still can't afford N600k to get a new place.
The landlord may spend N100k or N150k as legal fees to get him out. Remember the landlord is out of pocket by N900k. He will still hustle another N150k because of a tenant claiming rights.
It's better the tenant leaves, and he uses the N150k to fix the house and get a new tenant who will pay N550k.

For a landlord to ask a tenant to leave, he has to serve a quit notice, and it has been established that it should be 6 months notice for a yearly tenant. At the end of the notice, if the tenant doesn't leave, then removal proceeding starts. One week notice. Case filed at magistrate court. Tenant is served court papers. Court hears why tenant doesn't want to leave. Court confirms landlord has followed the law. Court rules (in favour of landlord most times) and if landlord requested for mense profit, court asks tenant to pay.

From my explanation before, Jan 31 is cut off date. If court rules May 25, mense profit will be rent pro rated from Feb 01 to May 25.

At this stage, landlord can get the court to ask the Sheriff to physically eject tenant.
If landlord insists on back rent or just mense profit, the tenants properties will be seized by the Sheriff and auctioned to get the landlord his money.
