lanre2009: good morning guys. pls i have an issue with my 2006 honda accord. the radiator is a single cell. It got cracked due to someones carelessness. I am being adviced to install a double cell type and direct the fan to always be on anytime i switch on the ignition. Is this advisable? Or should i just install a signal cell type and leave the fan the way it is.?
I also noticed that fuel consumption has increased on the car, pls what could be responsible for this? If it's the plastic side that got broken,it can be mended,Mine got cracked as well and I took it to Ladipo And got the plastic replace for ₦4k still works perfectly till today. No overheating or any problem. I can give you the direction to the guy's shop in ladipo, his number is here if you care |
Car Talk › Re: Radiator Problems On 2006 Honda Accord !!! by Solatium(m): 9:57pm On Sep 27, 2019 |
jidemoh: I'll advice you to get a new double cell radiator as a matter of urgency.
Your car was not designed for tropical weather which is why the fans sometimes don't roll immediately even when the aircon is on. A broken radiator will only cause engine overheat which isn't good for engine lifespan.
My 2005 Honda dealt with me cos i was managing a radiator until i bought a new one. There is nothing like his car was not tropicalized. All these New car's comes with sensors attached to their fans, the fan won't pick untill the temperature of your car hits around 95°c and above,it will switched off at 94°c and picked at 95 again, those fans comes with 3 speeds and each speed level is determined by the temperature of the car. The speed is always at it's peak when you are in the traffic |

MYDEBBY: Dear Nairalanders, I greet you all.
Pls I need candid advice, I have dated my wife for over six years without an issue and now that we have done traditional rites and about to climax with white wedding she is giving flimsy excuses that she is no longer interested in me.
She is currently in final year and has drastically changed in her dressing and attitude towards due to influence of friends in school.
Often I do report incidences of her recent poor dressing to her parents after cautioning her she will channel the grievances to me.
The recent one made her so angry that she started recanting all my past mistakes which she and her family are aware of and have resolved since now using it as an excuse against me that she is no longer interested.
She kept mute for over two weeks due to anger yet I still transferred money twice to her but up till now she did not acknowledged it, only for her to send text that she need money for our daughters school fees. I then decide to visit them off campus where they stay yesterday with lots of provision yet she could not say a common thank you.
While I was still making peace with her asking her to forgive me for whatever wrong I have done to her by reporting her to her PARENTS, promising not to do so again, a guy knocked the door and she went out after the guy I asked a relation who was there who was the guy and he said he is my wife's friend, I quickly followed them on citing me the guy diverted after their discussion about me.
When we then entered the house I asked her who was the guy and she said that's not my business. I kept quiet.
After a while I called her parents to tell them the situation of things that their daughter said she is no longer interested they now asked us to come down to the village to see them this coming weekend.
I know things are not alright somewhere and as such I need straight forward advice on what to do.
Pls no insult just help out.
Thanks Don't send her money any longer, Don't call her again, act like you don't care, and if you can, don't go for the meeting scheduled by her parents. She is not doing you a favor by going out with you, don't make that mistake of going ahead with that marriage,if you do,you will regret the day you take that decision. Just dust yourself up,I believe there is woman out there for you who will value you,God just want to deliver you from a family of an ingrate, heed that call nowwwwwwwwwwee |

TRIGITIS: Officers carry their ranks on shoulders. There is just one officer in the picture, though I don't know his rank. But certainly he is not a commodore because that is just 3 stripes. What do you say of officers with 4 stripes? Google the rank insignia of navy officers. Besides, he is too young to be a commodore. Commodore is just an equivalent of a Colonel in the Army, are you saying that Man is too young to be Colonel in the Army? These people join the military early and rise through the rank via training, battles and what have you. A friend of mine who joined the US Navy at a rank of Petty something has an MBA,when I saw the group picture of the commander of his unit, she is a female in her late 20's .and he told me they usually join early (16-18yrs) |

But a university graduate as a junior sailor?
Personally, I don't really see any big deal here o.
For the unintelligent ignoramuses who might start disturbing my mention, there is a difference between officers and sailors. Officers are university graduates while sailors are not.
The man with 3 yellow bars on his shoulders is the only officer in the 2nd picture, the rest are sailors. The short Man besides him is also an officer, while the one with the Yellow bar is a Commodore, the one besides him most likely senior him. He has a star to his Collar which indicates he's equivalent to a brigadier in the Army,I don't know what its called in the Navy |

Stephaustin: Unfortunately, the man actually jumped off the 32 storey building. You should have watched the video if the pictures you saw weren't convincing instead of calling some persons stupid.
Even if Nigerian bloggers are stupid, they cannot be stupid all the time. I don't think that an individual's promotion of falsity (which I guess wasn't intentional) in place of authenticity at a particular time necessarily qualify the individual to be termed stupid.
If you wouldn't mind, you can check the meaning of stupidity from different sources. Why do i have to watch something anti common sense? I do not need a Professor emeritus in Medicine to tell me is IMPOSSIBLE to survive a fall from such an height,if the dude did not die before touching down, the impact on landing is enough to have your skull smashed, your ribs broken, your spinal cord detach and eventually death. so don't come here with one persuasive argument that I should watch a video that could be subjected to all sorts |

I appreciate continuity, but this was 100% Fashola's project from top to bottom, he created LASEMA and equipped LASEMA, Amboode was just lucky to be in office to commission what Fashola left behind for him to commission. Now you know.
When Fashola ordered 34 fire engines from W.S Darley of United States, it took 2 years to process, built and transport to Nigeria.
Ambode did not source funds, award contract, import and receive several dozens of different equipment from BMW power bikes, boats, trailers, cranes and fire engines in less than 1 year. And it did not occurred to you that delivery could be hampered by funding? Fire engines are readily available in the market, even if you want to retrofit,it doesn't take that long dude, don't misinform people because of your love for a particular man. Fashola was at the equipment hand over ceremony back then for a reason, it was because he actually ordered the equipment before Ambode, Ambode was just the governor when they were delivered.
Such heavy machinery, heavy-duty trucks, trailers and heavy-duty cranes are not procured, branded and bought off the shelves from dealers, takes years to manufactured, branded, transported and distributed for commissioning. Ambode couldn't have done all that just months after assuming office. Are you telling me it took around 2years to have all these ordered and branded as the official launch took place on the 23rd May 2016 and Fashola exit on 29th May 2015? The equipment manufacturers have these things already on ground, they make them on a daily basis and always ready to brand and ship in less than 3months of placing your order. Most of the things deployed are not specialized equipment persee, they are everyday equipment for ease of operations where people cares,it's because emergency rescue has not been part of our culture that is why we see it as a biggie. 10,000 tonnes crane,Light towing vehicles, Ambulances, Speedboats,Bullet proof vests, Operational vehicles are readily available bro. let's learn to give kudos to whoever deserves it. 1) commercial nerve centre. Lagos is the home of most of the headquarters of companies and businesses in Nigeria.Oil companies, banks etc.( relocate these oil headquarters to rivers or some other States and also relocate the bank headquarters and see if there won't be reduction in commercial business transaction in Lagos which will ultimately affect IGR....)This is beyond Tinubu, fashola, ambode or sanwo olu..They were just beneficiaries!!!
2)sea port...The Atlantic Ocean provides an opportunity for Nigeria to connect to the west especially in terms of trade and commerce.( at least that frog eyed godfather didn't create Atlantic ocean na )
3). Entertainment...Lagos is fast becoming the Los Angeles of Nigeria with its blooming entertainment industry.
Am busy at the clinic with patients, so time won't permit me to type more.... You said you wanted to educate someone but you ended confusing yourself more and sounds like a broken record. Is there a law that states a company headquarters must be in Lagos? oil exploration is been done in niger Delta and the companies can decide to have their HQ there but they chose to be in Lagos for the fact that the structure works,we all know how shell, elf, Chevron and the rest ran away from the SS . Are there no port in Calabar? Calabar port began commercial operation ahead of Lagos, was it well managed? For your information Calabar was the first capital of Nigeria. No entertainment industry will take her trade to a place where their is no progress, where there is no development, where there is prospect of growing it and most importantly where the people are not accommodating. |

TV/Movies › Re: French Media Giant, Canal+, Acquires Leading Nollywood Film Studio- ROK TV by Solatium(m): 9:59am On Aug 01, 2019 |
TSRC: Lagos, Nigeria(CNN) As part of its plan to strengthen its position in Africa's movie market, French media giant, Canal+ Group, has acquired Nigerian production studio, ROK film studios from VOD company IROKO TV.
According to a statement released by ROK on Monday, the studio, launched in 2013 by actor and producer, Mary Njoku, is Nigeria's largest production house with more than 500 movies and 25 TV shows.
The organization currently produce Ghanaian and Nigerian movies, reaching 15 million subscribers across DSTV and GOTV platforms, the statement said.
Njoku says that Canal+ is working with ROK because the studio has the ability to create Nollywood content at scale.
"They (Canal+) wanted an organization that could supply their studio with Nollywood content. They have some channels in Francophone Africa and wanted a supply of African content for those channels," she told CNN.
Canal+ currently offers Nollywood TV, a fiction channel dedicated to Nigerian movies to its subscribers in French-speaking countries. The French media company has turned its sights on African viewers as growth has declined in its home terrain due to competition from Amazon, Apple and Netflix.
"This acquisition represents a key stage in Canal + group's international expansion. It allows the group to be present across the entire Nollywood value chain, and acquire unique expertise in the mass production of African fiction -- films, series, and entertainment," Canal+ said in a media release.
Acquiring ROK will create more hours of Nollywood content for Canal+ Group's audience in France and represents a battle for African eyeballs between media powerhouses such as Netflix and China's StarTimes.
Njoku says the acquisition is a sign that Nigeria's movie industry is doing well in producing quality content for the continent.
"When a company as big as Canal+ acknowledges and is ready to work with us to export Nollywood, it sends out a positive signal to the movie industry. Filmmakers are assured that they are doing something right," she said.
Netflix,in particular, has taken a keen interest in the African market, appointing award-winning Kenyan film producer Dorothy Ghettuba as the Manager for International Originals, and making several high profile Nollywood acquisitions, such as Lionheart and Chief Daddy.
The US media streaming company first captured the heart of the African audience in 2015 when it paid $12million for the worldwide distribution rights of 'Beasts of no Nation', starring award winning actor, Idris Elba.
In the same year, Netflix started the distribution of Nigerian movies buying blockbusters like 'October 1' and 'Fifty.'
In 2017, PAY TV operator, StarTimes announced the listing of Nollywood movies as part of its export to the Chinese market, signaling an interest in Nigeria's movie market.

Travel › Re: Large Passenger Turnout At Air Peace Inaugural Flight To Dubai by Solatium(m): 2:14pm On Jul 06, 2019 |
Anambralstson: Hundreds of Nigerians paid for tickets to be part of Air Peace inaugural flight to Dubai via Sharja in United Arab Emirates (UAE) from Lagos on Friday.
The passengers said that they wanted to identify with the indigenous carrier, because of its affordable fares and the desire to see a Nigerian airline operate international destination to stem the exploitative fares charged by international carriers.
They expressed the hope that if Air Peace continues to provide efficient service, they would continue to patronise the airline, which they described as source of pride to the country.
One of the passengers, Ezekiel Lawal, told THISDAY that he was excited to be traveling to Dubai with a Nigerian carrier and expressed the hope that the airline would sustain the route, adding that the fare is attractive and affordable.
“We are happy that a Nigerian airline is taking us to Dubai. The fair is very good and with this many people will be patronising the airline. Look at hundreds of people that are traveling with the airline. Many of them are traveling for the first time because they can afford the fare,” Lawal said.
At the formal ceremony to herald the inaugural flight at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, The Chairman/CEO of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, said that the airline’s foray into international operations would help end the short changing of Nigerians flying to international destinations.
Onyema said he empathised with Nigerian travellers because of the outrageous fares they were made to pay when compared to what other African countries pay for the same hours of flight.
He stated that Nigerians traveling from Lagos to London which is six hours pay more than travellers flying from Johannesburg to London, which is about nine hours. The airline which commenced its inaugural operations with over 80 per cent load factor said it aims to maintain its startup trajectory.
Onyema said the airline’s major objective is to provide efficient and reliable flight service to Nigerians at affordable fares to stem the exploitation of Nigerian travellers.
“Let me tell Nigerians, what you pay to Europe for a six hours flight , those that fly nine hours from Jo’ burg do not pay that; it’s time to stop the short-changing,” he said.
The Air Peace boss also said that competitor airlines would soon begin to crash their fares when they hear of and see the attractive offer Air Peace has in store but reminded them that these airlines refused to drop those fares initially until they came in.
” As we speak our fares are attractive, we have N180,000 to Dubai via Sharjah on Economy, and we have N650,000 for Business Class while our First Class is N850,000 you won’t get a better offer, in fact for First class ok you see from N2million up. I’m sure some airlines will reduce their fares but this is just to ensnare you again and keep ripping you off.” “I am sure that Air Peace will start and not close shop after some months, I have no doubt this will succeed,” he said. Also speaking, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation, Saibu Zackari, pledged government’s support to Air Peace, stating that government supports all Nigerian airlines and will support Air Peace.
The Permanent Secretary represented by the Director Air Traffic Management, Azssan Musa, also hinted that government has helped with its special window for making foreign exchange available as well as aircraft spare. https://www.thisdaylive.com/index.php/2019/07/05/large-passenger-turnout-at-air-peace-inaugural-flight-to-dubai/ ₦180k on Economy to Dubai is not cheap dude,₦150-160k is fair.
