3. also on ADDITIONAL FAMILY INFORMATION FORM (5406), in section B, can I include a child who is not among my dependent?

Thanks.

Thanks Solomonwis for your response.
This is what I saw from the application guide on my question 3.
To me it seems someone can include additional kid that is not list among dependents. see attached.
Thanks.
Have you received PER for your application yet?

I will advise you to steer clear off including dependent that are not your biological children/family except situation makes it expedient to include them. You will have a lot of legal work to do at a subsequent stage especially when the dependents are not biologically related to you (so you won't be seen to be directly/indirectly involved in child trafficking).

EXCEPT THE DEPENDENTS ARE RELATED TO YOU BIOLOGICALLY AND/OR YOU HAVE THE FINANCIAL WHEREWITHAL, DO NOT INCLUDE ANY OTHER DEPENDENTS IN YOUR APPLICATION!

Chinom: Blaming the government is escapist. People who do not want to take responsibilty for their actions. I can write 10 pages on why you should not blame the govt for the fact that Nigerians ruined the image of the country. But i don't have te time for that. I just have a few questions for you. How many people from Zimbabwe, Botwsana, Papua new guinea have you come across in US, Uk or Europe. Those are not particuarly rich countries.
Coming closer to home; how many young Hausa men do you see in US, Uk or Europe. The mentality of the people of Southern Nigeria killed our Nigerian passport. Desparation and greed was the reason most of them abused their visa conditions. If every Nigerian that travelled abroad respected their visas, we will still have access to many countries visa free. You will be shocked to know what most Edo, Yoruba, Igbo and Warri people had to go through inorder to obtain that US or UK passport. The young man from Zamfara or Yobe is not that desparate or greedy. They are content with their life.
Do not put the blame on the govt. The honest truth is that most us in the south were desparate to move to the west because of pressures from our immidiate sorroundings
Besides, embassys DO NOT give visas to poor people. Those Nigerians that stayed 6 years on a visitor's visa presented themslves as rich people at the various embassys. So the arguement that Nigeria is a poor country, hence the devalued passport does not hold water.
I do not believe the need/desire to move to another country is as a result of greed and desperation otherwise you'd end up terming Americans and the British desperate and greedy because they constitute a larger percentage of migrants to Australia and Canada. What will you say of the Chinese and Indians that are everywhere in every part of the world? Desperation and greed has no definition when it comes to migration....Home is where you find peace and peace is relative but a universal definition of peace is found wanting in Nigeria at the moment, even a blind bat know this much!

The government has failed the Nigerian populace! There's no 2 way to it...If you have all the energy to want to succeed and the enabling environment is not there (which makes the bucks stop at the government yard),what will you do? Die hoisting the patriotism flag when in the end you have scoundrels and power thirsty demons with no clear vision/policies or sense of direction in power?

Come to think of it,if we don't blame the government, who do we blame? The poor boy on the street selling peanuts to eke out a living? The poor woman by the roadside whose wares she has to display so she can send her children to a dilapidated school environment? The professionals at work who in spite of being owed several months salary still kept the struggle on? The poor secondary school girls in Borno State who in spite of the very study hostile environment, went ahead to write their final examination only to be "kidnapped" by some unseen forces with the government looking helpless? Do we blame the poor boy studying without electricity despite the huge unprintable amount of resources pumped in that direction?Do we blame God? Who really do/should we blame....?

Talking about the image of Nigeria, did you cast your mind back to what the image used to be in the time of the Obafemi Awolowos, the Tafawa Balewas, The Nnamdi Azikwe, etc What was the image then? What is it now? Were people not travelling back then? Were visas not being given/issued to the "rich" as well and the poor? What changed that changed everything? The people remained the same, the government kept changing and the government changed everything to what it is now....You see why we should blame the Government?

If you want to see the body clearly, start giving attention to the head (The government). The difference between the developed countries and Nigeria is the kind of government we get....It is not the kind of people in Nigeria but the kind of government and its policies....

amazingfortune: My question was previously answered by damkolins in a post on page 105. However, I am still a bit unclear. Will I need experience certificates from all employers during the last 10 years for which I am not claiming points? I get full points under the current occupation and have a detailed experience certificate. Please suggest if I would still be needing experience certificates from previous employers in the last 10 years?
You only need work experience confirmation letters for the points you are claiming.

Meritl: Thanks for that reply Oga Solo. Based on the generation of suspicion that you said in your post above, I'm a bit worried that I will not be submitting a letter of reference for a place I worked previously. Although I am safe with my points (same as Benedictegbon) even when I don't include the reference letter for that period of work.

Please just say something. grin
No point including a self attested work reference when you are sure you already meet the minimum score point of 67.The self attested work reference is basically for people who for one genuine reason or the other are not able to provide work place reference which will impact on their application with CIC.

1. for processing fee do i need a gtb account to be able to raise a draft with them?
2. what happens if your application doesn't go through? will the draft be returned to you of how does it work?
3. i'm finding it difficult getting a work reference with all the comprehensive information due to work plicies at my former job although i have lots of correspondence including employment, promotions, salary increases. how do i get self attested job letter? from a lawyer or what body?
4. can i use pension statement as part or all of my proof of funds?

I'm sorry if these questions have been answered earlier, ive gone through a lot of the thread but it doesnt seem definite. Thanks
seedgie: hello guys, pls i like to also know about the question 3 in the above quote. That is the self attested refrence letter, though i am shilling for express entry cos of my masters program and POF.
Let us be objective and realistic like the guys in CIC.....

For some reasons (one of which was stated above),there might be circumstances where an applicant is not able to secure a work reference...The reasons are so numerous and genuine that any sane mind will understand with a letter stating the reason(s).

Having said the above,it was stated on the checklist that should situation arise where any document is not available a letter should be included to explain the reason(s). To give this "letter" a little legal backing,it is always better to state the reason under oath (affidavit) and produce as much information as available that will cover for the work reference...such as the employment letter, confirmation of appointment letter, promotion letter, annual leave letter,payslip/pay stub and any correspondence affirming your work experience at the time...sometimes,it is better to approach an ex-colleague (a senior colleague at the time) to include his contact details and confirming that he/she was your line head or supervisor and you carried out the main duties as stated at the time.... The onus is on the applicant to prove beyond doubt that indeed he/she worked in a company....

Again, all of your employers (if you worked in different places) are not expected to be reluctant in issuing you work reference else you will succeed in raising suspicion which will cast aspersion on your application and it might be rejected if care if not taken.

Some of the employers might have a policy of issuing a work reference letter in the company's standard format which may not include all the details as expected by CIC. In this case, include all of the aforementioned documents with particular attention to the document that show the details of your main duties..

Even with people who provided work reference from their employers, some of them had their applications returned because it did not include the main duties that align with their eligible occupation...

There is no cause for alarm if all I's are dotted and all T's crossed with self attested work reference....Bottom line is,include all the information that is expected in the work reference and confirming that you indeed worked with an employer....

Also, I took my passport and the photographer said bold face passport with the 35 x 45mm dimension is what is used for FSWP. Please any penalties if bold faced with the 35x45mm dimensions? (He said he has been taking passports for other applicants)

This is why so many people like me are skeptical of the kind of services we get from our Nigerian banks! Most "bankers" in Nigeria are always gaily dressed but know next to nothing about banking except for the daily routine assigned to them. ifechukwukamso: Dear solo are you saying one can raise a bank draft for the right of residence fee on the GTB online platform for one with dom account? If yes, that makes life easy. Please how do I do it biko?

Secondly, does anyone know the address to send additional documents requested by one's immigration officer. For instance I was requested to update some of the initial forms sent to CIC due to family addition, new police report etc. After getting all that I need to send all this to accra office via air mail probably DHL or TNT. What address should I use. Thanks for anticipated responses.
YES, you can raise the bank draft from GT Bank online platform and you have a list of branches all over the country where you can pick the draft up from either by yourself or by proxy (detailed on the platform).

For the CAD bank draft, all you need are:

1. A GT Bank Domiciliary account (fully funded)

2. A Token hardware

You can raise the bank draft at the comfort of your home/office by following the simple instruction on the platform.

All information requested from the Accra visa office has to be sent via post mail (preferably via courier)...DHL seems to be their preferred courier company (That is not to say you can't make use of others).

The address is:

Accra will use any medium expedient to get across important information to the applicant (either via e-mail,post mail or both). I know this to be true of an applicant who erroneously forgot to include his email address on his application form. He has been receiving all forms of communication via post mail.

Having said the above,I am not sure the OP mentioned receiving MR via post mail (and I doubt it except she confirms directly).

He Wants to apply through the federal skilled trades person program and his current job is listed among the NOC jobs for that program. But his biggest challenge is how to go about Getting the requirements from any province.

Please those any one knows the method and how to get the necessary certificates and documents from a province before he can apply for the PR ?

Thanks
Please tell your friend to contact the provinces directly regarding the certificate of qualification issuance. Some provinces are magnanimous enough to issue certificates to prospective applicants resident outside Canada while some will insist the applicant must be in Canada to pass some trade examinations/tests. For instance, the Ontario government has a program for applicants whose qualifications were obtained from outside the province. You can read up for more here http://www.collegeoftrades.ca/trade-assessment.

It is a herculean task applying from outside of Canada but not a totally impossible mission. All you need is the drive to want to succeed.

Any idea or suggestion?
If you have a GT Bank account (domiciliary),you can raise the draft on the online platform in Canadian Dollar and request the pick up branch to be one of the pick up branches in Benin. You don't have to physically visit the bank to do this. Just get a domiciliary account,go to your online platform and raise the draft...As simple as that (I know this to be true of GT Bank).
