ferdimako: If u borrow and fix for a year...they wouldn't figure that out. Fixed deposits do not have any flows. May be that works for FD only. An immigration attorney told me and I believe him. That is being fraudulent...I am wondering why an immigration attorney will tell you that. The Proof of settlement fund is not a show off to CIC or anybody. Why would anybody in his right senses want to leave a country for another country without having enough fund to cushion the effect of such transition (because there will always be an effect). Why would anybody in his right senses want to "borrow" money in order to fix it for a whole year, what economic sense is in that? That is why the program is for skilled workers...A skilled worker will not want to circumvent such process especially one that bother on his/her welfare.... Again, even if you are issued a visa, you might be asked at the POE to provide such proof again..and this time it will be checked. If you eventually scale that too (assuming you are smart enough to scale it),how do you survive in the event that you are not able to secure a job immediately? How do you rent an apartment, feed yourself,go out scouting for job and live a normal life? |
ferdimako: People can fix deposits. I don't know how CIC will know it was borrowed. Again, no need for cash flows. From an immigration attorney. You might want to provide explanation about "Again, no need for cash flows" CIC will always know if it is borrowed....They might allow you pass at the initial stage but will definitely ask for updated proof of settlement fund. They can go as far as asking you to provide your bank statement (including Fixed Deposit) for a period of 12 months prior to the request. The pattern of your transactions(lodgements and withdrawals) will be scrutinized. They will ask for proof of any fund that is inconsistent with the transaction pattern over the period. I have seen a case where updated proof of settlement fund was requested for and instead of picking the closing balance as proof, they picked the balance prior to credit lodgement in the account. This might fall short of the required fund.... Cases abound as per how CIC detect borrowed fund. So,rather than go through the trauma of gambling with borrowed fund, why not abide by the rules..... |
pinchocreamy: Also,is it allowed to add spouse's bank statement/fix deposit incase the money in d account of the principal applicant is not enough? pinchocreamy: Thank you sir.am a business woman, tot i could pull out some, use for business and return it later.Let me state this clearly... Don't try to beat the system. Don't try to be too smart with your Proof of Settlement Fund. You don't want to go through the hassle and lose it all in the end. CIC have in place mechanism with which "borrowed funds" are discovered. The fund is not supposed to be for business per se...Otherwise,you might want to use your company account as proof of settlement fund. This fund is separate and it is meant to show you can conveniently take care of yourself and your family while you settle down in Canada. That said, you can provide the proof of settlement fund in the name of the Principal Applicant, spouse and/or both. |
borgyv: solomonwise can you clarify the ff:1.It is necessary to provide an affidavit along with the translated English copy. Let it be clearly stated in the affidavit that it as it is customary for the school to translate the result, you have only provided a certified copy as translated by the school. 2.It is okay but support it with an affidavit. In the above scenario, ensure you specify that it is customary for the school to provide translated copy of the original result in the affidavit to be attached. |
pinchocreamy: Hello everyone,v bin following dis post for more than 2weeks now.Great job! Please,i have a question on POF..after submitting bank statement/fixed deposit slip with d documents, can i move d money and start spending? Or i will have to leave d money in my account till CIC decide on my application? Thank uIt is advisable to spend the money only IF you can provide same when requested with proof of the inflow within the space of time given... The assumption is,the money should be kept in your account for the period under which your application is in process. However, the reality is people spend the money (mostly on short term investments) and can easily provide this money once requested through the disposal or sale of this investment. You must be able to provide proof if the lump sum is outside the normal flow of transaction in your account. You are not allowed to "borrow" this money. You must have proof that this money belongs to you and it is unencumbered of any debt. |
bharoka: Good evening House, Please i am new in the house. I am a banker with BSc Ind Mathematics. I would appreciate it if i can be schooled on the step by step process of applying for the Canadian Federal Skilled worker Program. Expecting ur urgent responses. The first step is to do a self assessment to see if you qualify for FSWP here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp You will then have your educational qualifications assessed by agencies designated by the Canadian government You have to write an English/French test to prove your proficiency in English/French. You gather your documents and send. Please read through the thread to understand what the process is like....It makes the process simple when you do that. |
akhurana487: hi guysYes,any document in other languages than english and french has to be translated and the translated copy hasto be certified. This is to be accompanied by an affidavit from the person who translated the documents to English/French. |
ANBAKO: House,This is acceptable. |
Eni23: Hi Solomon,May 7th,2014 - Applicants with Demand draft May 8th,2014 - Applicants with Demand draft/Credit Card May 9th,2014 - Applicants with Credit Card When did your application reach CIO? |
Saw this and felt I should share here. This explain the processes in ECAS while your application is in process with CIC
|
damkollins: What do you feel........their work rate is laughable this time!.......an updates of just 11 applications!very very laughable...They seem to me to be making a mockery of the processing speed. But believe me,so many people especially the prospective applicants will be happy seeing this slow pace. |
yokus: Is there any hope for a lawyer in this highly skilled thing. It depends on the job responsibilities of the Lawyer. |
UPDATE!!! Total received toward the overall cap: 516 of 25,000 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/complete-applications.asp |
Where is vancouver? |
Meritl: Hello wise one Solo. I'm about arranging marriage levels for me and my girlfriend. I've got a question and need your help. "BY THE TIME I GET MARRIED TO HER AT A REGISTRY, HER LAST NAME WILL CHANGE AND THIS WILL NOT CORRESPOND WITH WHAT IS IN HER INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT. What I'm I to do afterwards? Thanks. This will not affect the application in anyway. As a matter of fact, you are expected to make use of the name as written on her international passport. The determining factor here is the name on her international passport and not just her marriage certificate. You can decide to change her international passport details (bearing her new names) prior to the conclusion of the processing of her application at a later date (and you can decide to do it now if you've got the time and money). |
damkollins: Further to the advice already given by solomomwise ,I will advice you to carefully thread on cautious water on this retirement pension as proof of fund.I will personally prefer that you use the voluntary pension rather than the usual retirement pension.Reason been that your compulsory retirement pension is not totally unencumbered as you will only get certain percentage after retirement and not the whole sum. This also means that if you want to leave Nigeria and relocate to Canada,I'm sure you won't get any amount since there is no justification for it.The issue of RSA being used as proof of settlement fund is highly subjective depending on how knowledgeable the applicant is. Like I mentioned, the onus is on the applicant to prove that this money is readily available. Again, some people have used it in time past (and this doesn't preclude the fact that it may be subjected to further scrutiny by CIC). I know for a fact that 25% of your total RSA contribution can be made available immediately by your PFAs if you meet certain stipulated conditions (one of which you can meet with your intention to move to Canada - There's more to this anyways). This is the reason I mentioned the fact that you have to prove that this money will be accessible and transferable should the need arise. |
olabokey: Hi Solomonwiz baba,Retirement savings account (RSA) are acceptable as proof of settlement fund (and people have used it in time past successfully) - I must warn here that this is acceptable to obtain/secure PER at the CIO level. You might however be asked to show proof that this money is readily available to you prior to the conclusion of the processing of your application at a later stage at the VO level. The onus lies on the applicant therefore that this money is readily available/transferable. As long as you have documentation to show you have legal custody of the adopted child, you have nothing to worry about. Just include documentation of your legal authority to have the adopted child in your custody. |
fabuloustee: Pls house Am a RN, wants to migrate to Canada to do my BSC nd start working, Hw do u think I can go about it.You can start from here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/apply-who-instructions.asp Just out of curiosity, when you wrote "wants to migrate to Canada to do my BSC" . Chiichii2010: I have been reading through this thread to see if I can see questions relating to nurses that want to migrate to canada through this route but it seems there isn't any.plz is there anybody with any information that could be of help.It is the same process when applying as a nurse. Do a self assessment to ascertain your eligibility. apply for ECA Write IELTS gather your documents.complete your application form and send. In between, you can seek clarification on here when and if necessary. |
hollaugo: Thanks. i am an IT Business and System Analyst 2171. Would birth certificate from local government or should i get the NPC birth certificate.Birth Certificate from local government will suffice. |
Meritl: Thanks Mr Solo. Just to clarify things, I have my original birth certificate. Hope that is good compared with the birth authentication document?Yes,that's good (The required document). |
dotcomnamename:Now that you've crowned me the king of Canada what king are you? King of England? (Try that and spend the rest of your life in gaol ).Better go face your sport viewing center business! (Now I know I am wicked).... ![]() |
dotcomnamename: Lol, thought u said u're leaving me in peace before,... so you're only pretending.... Have you study in Canada and UK before? Please answer.. ![]() I know why you are asking, you want us to play "roforofo".....I know better. I will answer you simply,I know the little above you enough to be able to come up with superior argument (not personal attacks/gobbledygook). You could have lived in mars and know nothing about mars. Living there/studying there doesn't give you an edge if you are not alive to the happenings around you. (Let me break it down before you misinterpret,I won't say yes or no to your question) but I know better than you until you come up with a superior argument. My advice: Don't argue blindly...Learn to learn even from a "foolish" person. |
dotcomnamename: What you wrote up here are just a poor attempt to mask Canada... You and i cannot change the OP's mind.. get that to yourself... Thank God you have said it by yourself ''What is the essence of qualifications that are not put into practice in the same country that you studied (in terms of post-study work)? What are you coming back to Nigeria to show? Paper qualifications? With the bold,I now know you know next to nothing about Canada....So,it is a waste of my time to continue this debate. |
OluFavor: "...besides,it cost next to nothing when you apply for birth certificate even with NPC in Nigeria"Yes please...in the eye of CIC,this carry more weight( Please don't get me wrong....others must have included sworn affidavit and scaled the hurdle).Judging from recent rejection experience,I will always advise people to go for the NPC's birth authentication document. |
dotcomnamename: I knew that people like you will initiate personal attack into this topic and thats what i've been trying to avoid by saying let the OP decide and pray over it. Whats the matter with you? and whats the issue of attack in saying what i know? Is there obligation for me to agree with your opinion? If you are in the UK (or if you have been to the UK and probably studied there),you don't have to get this emotional. Even the people on the ground know this much. With all of your paper qualifications, there's a limit to what height you can attain as compared to a British (not a British Citizen). Even in Nigeria,if you are not strong enough to ward off everything that will discourage you, your qualifications will lead you nowhere. What is the essence of qualifications that are not put into practice in the same country that you studied (in terms of post-study work)? What are you coming back to Nigeria to show? Paper qualifications? I leave you in peace! |
dotcomnamename: STORYMy challenge with people like you is rather than bring up facts (strong enough to even change the mindset of people like us) you resort to cynical/personal attack. After all it is an intellectual debate and not a contest to win a trophy in the end.... The fact is some people will continue to go to the UK and excel (others won't) likewise it is for some people who choose to go to Canada! |
dotcomnamename: No one argue about the highest nationalities of canadian residency applications... The question from the OP clearly stated:what does all of those investments and comparison come to in the end? Are we looking at fundamental issues that have long lasting effect in the long-run or are we going to romance the luxury of global recognition with nothing to show for it in the end? Why are people leaving/moving in mass from the UK to Canada even with all of the plethora of incentives to want to study in the UK as above? We should ask fundamental questions and not be engrossed in carrying "recognition" without measurable/commensurable effects in people's life. We should deviate from this "recognition psyche" that only last forever in paper qualifications and move to where recognition is in terms of standard of living/quality of life... The facts are there....Don't scratch them on the face..The quality of life and the incentives to study in the UK is no longer there as it used to be some years back. This is a fact! |
Let me add another angle to this debate. It will interest you to note that majority of the applicants applying for permanent residence in Canada and Australia are from the UK! In fact the UK citizens applying for PR in Canada are the 8th largest global applicants on the list (and by the way,the USA is the 5th),whatever is responsible for this can be "googled"( and this has been the case since 2003!). This is despite it(Canada) being referred to as a cold region and the economic power of the UK currency being higher than that of Canada. Here's the link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/statistics/facts2012/permanent/10.asp So many people are doing so well in the UK and so many people are doing well in Canada but if you ask me where the opportunities lie NOW and in years to come (If you can see beyond 2014),I will close my eyes and tell you,you can't miss it when you choose Canada. |
damkollins: Better late than never.Permit me to add to what you have written. The gazette released prior to the start of this intake specifically mentioned April 30th,2015 as the deadline (Please check page 986 of the attached gazette). So,there can be no school of thought outside this (except when the ministerial instruction and another gazette state otherwise which I doubt anyways). Here is the link http://www.gazette.gc.ca/rp-pr/p1/2014/2014-04-26/pdf/g1-14817.pdf Again,I have seen several people especially Indians and Pakistanis rejected on the basis of replacing birth certificate with sworn affidavit. Whatever was responsible for this is best known to CIC. Following from this,I have always advised that sworn affidavit should not take the place of Birth certificate when applying for FSWP (just as a precautionary measure). Besides,it cost next to nothing when you apply for birth certificate even with NPC in Nigeria. |

. However, I need more clarification on the use of retirement pension saving such as IBTC pension as support funds because I have not seen this on CIC website. Although, stocks and traveler's cheques are mentioned. Could you please throw more light on? Do you mean the retirement pension saving that my company and I contribute to every month will fly? I don't wanna screw buddy.
