bees74: Hello allHave you made effort to see the "Accra version" yourself? The agent must be one of the quacks around! The Central Intake Office of the CIC is saddled with the responsibility of assessing application to ensure completeness of application and eligibility of applicants. The visa offices of the CIC all over the world makes the final decision on PR applications. There's no visa office version of the checklist for FSWP....The only checklist acceptable is the one on the CIC website here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5612E.pdf |
apata: @solomonwis1. The financial requirement for a family of 4 (Proof of Settlement Fund) is CAD$21,971. There are of course, other costs incidental to sending your application to Canada such as (i) Evaluation of academic results fee (ii) IELTS test (iii) Logistics encompassing courier/other cost 2. The program is supposed to be a yearly thing but this is at the discretion of the Canadian Govt. depending on their immigration requirement. The program could be "paused" as it was in 2012,could be re-designed to accommodate economic, social, political realities of the present day as "Express Entry" to be introduced in January 2015 might be..and could be totally scrapped (I know a lot of people will say God forbid! )3. First thing is to get your academic qualifications assessed by one of the approved agencies. Second,Write your IELTS test with good score band (along with our wife if you are married and she has the capability and capacity to write the test). Third, obtain work references from all your employers in the last 10 years. The work reference should meet the specification of the CIC as detailed on the checklist here attached http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5612E.pdf . check item number 12 on the list. Check for update on the immigration website on www.cic.gc.ca at all times to see if there are changes. You can also be kept abreast of all changes on this thread. 4. The Canadian equivalency of your qualifications will be determined by the approved agency of your choice. Keep the ECA result as it will last you for 5 years 5. You don't stand a better chance with any agency in terms of processing with Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) but maybe you stand a better chance in terms of guiding you on how to package a successful application thereby taking the stress off you (They can only take the stress off you or so it seems but cannot take the responsibilities off you). It is still your responsibility to ensure your application package meet the requirements of CIC. Always remember to make use of a CIC approved agent IF YOU MUST. I think the very essence of this thread is to take the stress of you and make you avoid paying so much money to agents. Here on this thread, you can get to ask questions from people who have already walked the route before (and I bet you,no agency can give you this much). You get first hand information. You can always read through people posts here and ask questions here where necessary and you will be assisted by everyone who has had an experience applying for the program. |
henmaris: Now in the waiting game, from the application update I hope it's my application that has been updated as the only complete file for NOC 4214. I checked at www.Cic.gc.ca/english/immigration/skilled/complete_applications.asp. .please what will happen if I'm pregnant when called up for medical given that I won't be able to do an x/Ray?When pregnant, the medical consultant will advise if the medical examination can be conducted depending on the stage of the pregnancy. Most times, the baby is shielded/protected while the X-tray is being taken...If it is unsafe to undergo the X-stray,the medical examination might be delayed till after the baby is born.... Like I said earlier to @Meritl,don't let CIC or FSWP delay performing your "official duty" at home...Please shoot if you must! |
Meritl: Officially married today. Thank God for everything.Congratulations, happy married life...Don't let CIC or FSWP delay your "shooting" . "Shoot" if you must, when you get to the point of medical, you shall cross it with minimal restriction (if any) |
temislim1: Hello good people. This is a great thread. OP, Pls can u send me your email address. I need someone to help me through the application process so I don't make mistakes. I am new to this and don't even know how to start. Really appreciate this. Thank you.Openness is the watch word here...I will advise you not to engage in any private discussion with anyone on a public forum. There are different people with diverse intention who genuinely appear to offer assistance. They most probably will capitalize on your naivety and the end thereof is better left than imagined.... Having said the above, please lay whatever it is you have as query open so people who have gone through the same route can advise how they did theirs successfully. Nonetheless, there are MANY people here with genuine intention and what I wrote above is not to discredit anyone BUT ask openly here and you shall be assisted to the best of the ability of experienced people here... |
jangirova: hi,I salute all the immigration gurus without borders on this thread. My wife's academic credential is currently being assessed by WES and will soon be getting her final report. She sent her masters and B.sc credentials. B.Sc credentials were in her maiden name while postgraduate are in her married name from the same school.I'm surprise that WES has changed her profile name on their site to the maiden despite registering on WES site with her new mame (marital).I included photocopy of our marriage certificate in the academic certf.sent to WES. Does it mean they've concluded evaluation of the B.sc and not on the M.sc?By including her marriage certificate, you have given an implicit intention to have her name changed(I am not sure of what the name is called in legal terms). This was further buttressed by the fact that qualifications subsequent to her marriage all bear her "new name". You have nothing to worry about, just ensure you at every point include a letter explaining the "discrepancy" backed by the marriage certificate - It is not a discrepancy as such. The final report (which will most probably focus on her highest qualification) will have the same name as is on the postgraduate qualifications. A newspaper publication stating the particulars of the marriage with "all other documents remain valid" plus the marriage certificate will provide explanation at all times.. Note that no matter the letter you write to WES you most probably might not reverse the name that the ECA result will bear. Nothing cause for alarm.. |
sonet: @solo, dnt know what else to do since Feb 2013 MPNP just file number. Nothin else and hav sent lots of Msgs they are saying they are doing reveiw and it is still with program officer for review.Unfortunately,as it is a provincial nominee program (PNP) you have to wait for the outcome of your application with them. It is going to be a real test of your patience and so you have to endure. If you can, please apply to other programs such as the FSWP. That way,you are rest assured you are not putting all your eggs in one basket. |
damkollins: Lolz....still less than 10%!Less than 10% in the first half of May 2014 with NOCs 2174 - Computer programmers and interactive media developers and 1112 - Financial and investment analysts reaching almost 50% of the allocated threshold for the year....It speaks volume of what is yet to unfold in weeks to come With Accra sending MR and RPRF to 2013 applicants and some 2014 applicants (with CPC -O Visa Office) already landing in Canada, you sure can say with confidence that "Express Entry" will be a reality in terms of 6 months processing timeline. Express Entry will therefore be an employer/province/territory driven system which will make it a little tasking for prospective applicants who are not lucky enough to apply now.. |
UPDATE!!!! Total received toward the overall cap: 2,360 of 25,000 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/complete-applications.asp |
VCTROKOYE: please at what time do I have to show the money. I have some money now but I need to pay my fee any day in next weekThe idea behind proof of settlement fund is to show one's capability of economic power such that no one suffers as a result of the application. Technically, the fund is meant to be available all through the application period until you land in Canada but realistically this fund cannot be kept in the account throughout the period. However, you must be able to produce this fund anytime during the application process it is demanded (and it must not be borrowed). Once you can produce this fund at anytime it is requested by the Visa office (and have proof that the fund is not encumbered in any way),then you are covered. You must remember not to arouse any suspicion that this fund is "borrowed" (even if really and truly, the fund has not been borrowed). |
VCTROKOYE: Please I'm presently studying in Canada but I am interested in Canadian federal skilled stuff. My question is that do I have to have the $11,000 in my account too.Yes,the only exemption is if you have an arranged employment. |
blessbunmi: Thanks for your prompt response. My husband is a physiotherapist and he is the primary applicant. He wants to take genaral IELTS for the purpose of migration and to be able to register with his professional body in canada.can I take IELtS academic because I intend studying there or must I also take general so as to support his certification? For the purpose of FSWP, only General Training IELTS is acceptable both for the PA and the spouse. |
samakh: Hello everyone,No matter where you obtain your qualification,as long as it is not from a Canadian educational institution (not minding the global recognition accorded the qualification),you'd have to send it for evaluation. |
samakh: Hello everyone,Post your questions here https://www.nairaland.com/1279130/canadian-federal-skilled-worker-program-timelines/91 |
livepluslife: Thanks for the advise. His msc and PhD transcripts are ready, it's the undergraduate transcript that is delaying. Since he got all from same school, will the msc n PhD be OK to send to wes or I should just wait for the bsc before sending? Pls can u help with materials for for ielts I have the book but the cd is bad. Thanks a lot am happy I found this forumAs time is running out,all he needs to do now is to assess his highest educational qualifications - Msc and Phd (He can include the undergraduate qualifications later). I honestly don't have the IELTS materials (I have never had to use any other materials beside the British Council materials and just one of the online blogs where IELTS is being discussed - www.ielts-blog.com). @damkollins,can I request of you to forward the IELTS materials to @livepluslife please? |
livepluslife: Kindly advice Pls; In 2015 i will be 39yrs old I have an Mba from uniben and works as a retail sales / customer service executive ,my hubby will be 50yrs, he's an associate prof. and has a PhD. My job specification is not exactly listed, but his is. Who would u advice to be the principal applicant considering hubby's age? My other question is can we use pension fund contribution as part of our settlement fund?Hello, Not minding the age(as he's likely to score 0 - Zero under age),your spouse seem more qualified than you are under the current application intake. This is because his occupation is listed as eligible under the current application intake 2014/2015. Your occupation (as a customer service executive is not listed). However, close to half of the points lost under age can be recovered when you as an accompanying spouse write and include include your IELTS result along with his application, provided your language level is not below CLB 4 in all the four language abilities - Adaptability. So advisably, he should be the PA. Pension fund contributions is acceptable as a proof of settlement fund especially at the Centalized Intake office level, however you might be asked to provide proof that this fund is unencumbered and readily accessible to you at the visa office level. I will therefore advise you make haste in getting your spouse's educational credentials assessed (if he didn't obtain his qualifications in Canada) and you both make plans to write IELTS. People here along with previous posts can be of assistance in the journey to making your application successful. Do not hesitate to ask for guidance should there be any need. Please make haste, the cap limit is filling up fast! |
judeje: @ Solomon wiseYou need to clarify bold...You applied last year or 6 months ago? Who "suddenly" requested for additional information? Where did you send your application? |

ankprank: hi,solomonwis I wanted to know that how long it takes normally between PER recd date and the PCC date? and after sending PCC how long it takes for the medical? This is a difficult question to answer especially the first part of your question. It is hard to tell the period of time it takes to be instructed to provide further information and proceed on to medical examination. 2013/2014 applicants are still in queue and none of them have been requested to provide further information or proceed on medical examination. So you see how difficult it can be to predict especially with the Accra visa office. Medical examination: All applicants will have a full medical examination, including a urine test for anyone aged 5 years and above. The medical itself involves a physical examination, where the applicant will UnCloth to underwear whilst wearing a gown. All applicants aged 11 years and above will need a chest X-ray. All applicants aged 15 years and above will need blood tests for HIV status and syphilis. Note that applicants with body piercings or tattoos require mandatory Hepatitis B and C blood tests. |
okejji: hi solomonwise, should one, fill this part of the form(stututory declaration of common-law union) in the presence of a commissioner of oaths, ie taking this form to court, or what? I need urgently reply. thanksBefore I answer your question, let me state here that the concept of common law union is alien to our culture (as africans) and it will take a whole lot of resources to prove that indeed a relationship exist between the principal applicant and the partner. At the CIO Nova Scotia level, you will be required to include in your application evidence that you cohabitated with your partner for at least 12 continuous months. Accra visa office may ask for further evidence of your relationship and it usually make the processing a very tiresome process. So you might need to think again about common law union.A simple way out is to go to the customary court for a wedding. Now to your question, you will fill that form IMM5409 along with your common law partner and take it to the high court for the commissioner of oath administration. I am sure when you take the form there, they will inform you of the procedure to follow. |
omonade11: good morning all. please i hv a question.can iAs,mentioned earlier by @damkollins your class of degree does not matter but your degree must be adjudged to be equivalent to a Canadian degree (and this is where you should focus your attention) by and approved agency.Nobody can give you the equivalent of your degree except you approach an approved agency for evaluation. Yes,bank certificate is acceptable |
VCTROKOYE: Hi house. I am presently studying in Canada but I am also interested in Federal Skilled stuff. My greatest challenge is how to get police report. Please is it possible to request for it from abroad? You can request for PCC while outside Nigeria but you must contact the FCID Forensic department Alagbon,Lagos for the procedure. You will be requested to provide your finger print,2 passport photograph and the bio data page of your international passport. |
needful: Pls my good nairalanders, is it wise for WES to send only result certificate for verification. My school called me and told me that instead of wes to send transcript for verification, they sent only my HND certificate for verification. Do you think they will later send my transcript for verification?. Am in a dilemma now, I applied for credentials evaluation and Nova scotia provincial nominee which I applied to gave me a deadline being 8 of September that my application will be refused if I don't provide my ECA. My school has sent my verification but am worried as they sent only my HND certificate for verification which were what wes requested to be verifiedYou obviously can't dictate to WES what should be forwarded to your educational institution to confirm the authenticity of your qualification. They can decide to send anything to confirm the genuineness of your qualification. Moreover, you are not expected to be seen in the process of authentication. All your school needs to do is to confirm your qualification (certificate) is genuine. It is not stated anywhere that only your transcripts will be verified so you need to be rest assured that the process is ongoing. |
ifechukwukamso: Hi SolomonHere is the link https://dmp-portal.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/case-cas-eng.aspx?mission=accra I understand the link has been down for sometime ( the same case with most of the visa offices CSE). As back up,you can send a mail to this email: accra.immigration@international.gc.ca |
twentyfourseven: @damkollins, @solomonwis and all,Work experience is of paramount importance in this scenario. The question is,does the person in question carry out the main duties as specified in the NOC...Please go through the below extracted from the operational guideline of the CIC regarding the processing of FSWP. Pursuant to R75(2)(a), the applicant must have accumulated at least one year of continuous full-time paid work experience, or the equivalent in continuous paid part-time work experience, in the occupation identified in their application for permanent residence as their primary occupation, that is listed in Skill Type 0 (Managerial occupations), Skill Level A (Professional occupations) or B (Technical occupations and skilled trades) of NOC 2011. In order to meet the minimum requirements, the applicant’s skilled work experience must: have occurred within the 10 years preceding the date of their application for permanent residence; and not be in an occupation that has been designated as a restricted occupation. Note: At the time of publication, no occupations were designated as restricted. However, current information, refer to the CIC website at: www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/index.asp. In addition, during that period of employment, the applicant must have: performed the actions described in the lead statement for the occupation as set out in the occupational description of the NOC [R75(2)(b)]; and performed a substantial number of the main duties, including all of the essential duties, of the occupation as set out in the occupational description of the NOC [R75(2)(c)]. Note: The “Employment Requirements” listed in the NOC description for each occupation are not applicable. In other words, your qualification is important to secure points under education but does not affect the assessment of your work experience neither does your job title.. |
ankprank: hiCongratulations! That is your PER! The next step is to start preparations to land in Canada !You will get to hear/read from your visa office (as indicated on your application form) the next step. They will probably send you an acknowledgement of receipt (AOR) of your application as forwarded by the CIO Nova Scotia or ask you to proceed to have your medical examination at the designated medical centre for your country. At every step, you will receive communication from your visa office regarding what is to be done... |
Ekpekus1: The checklist stated "IF AVAILABLE" as regard transcript. Certainly, copies of the certificates will be sent. yomifowe: Just checked it now. I think you are correct.I owe it to prospective applicants this obligation to bring information that are considered important in ensuring a stress/struggle free application. Regarding the inclusion of transcripts in the application for FSWP,let me make the following submission: 1. The checklist states Under Proof of Education that "To receive point for education, you must provide proof that you have completed a Canadian Secondary or post-secondary educational program OR submit an original ECA report along with proof of the foreign educational credential(s) for which you are claiming points.." The instruction went further to state.." Proof of your completed Canadian or foreign educational credentials can include copies of: (a)secondary or post-secondary education documents (certificates, diplomas or degrees) (b) transcripts for successfully completed secondary or post-secondary studies,if available It is therefore important for prospective applicants not to throw caution in the wind...CIC has got nothing to lose but the applicants. 2. What does it cost to include copies of transcripts if it cost a whole lot to carry out an assessment of educational credentials? To my mind,it cost next to nothing..so why not include it in the application? 3.If the transcripts are not available (as I understand some educational institutions don't issue out student copies),why not include a cover letter as to why the transcripts are not available? Again, this also cost absolutely nothing! It is to guard against any reason for rejection... I would rather include my transcripts and be free from anxiety than not include it and begin to think if one has done the right thing.. To cap it all up, here is a reason for which an application was rejected recently: "...Incomplete Application, educational documents not submitted with ECA..." Some people might have scaled the hurdle not including their proof of completed educational qualification(s) along with their ECA result,it doesn't make it absolutely right... It is better to err on the side of caution |
Ekpekus1: Transcript is not one of the required documents for 2014/15 FSWP. The checklist prove thus. So transcript ain't needed as the ECA would have covered that.I stressed that because I have seen quite a number of people make that mistake (and yes, I have seen an application returned simply because the applicant assumed ECA result covers your educational qualification, especially your certificate). This is a wrong notion. You might want to read more (carefully this time)using the checklist attached here as a guide http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5612E.pdf (List number 13 on the checklist specifically mentioned what you claim to be "unnecessary" . |
yomifowe: Really? But i am aware that schools don't issue transcript by hand to graduate student except institutions. So how am i supposed to get a copy? There is always a student copy issued....I am sure a lot of people have that here.. |
yomifowe: Thanks. The transcript my school sent has already been received by them and i don't have a copy, I only have my certificate photocopy. After paying esterday, I wrote to notify them of the sent documents but yet to get any reply. When applying for FSWP (after you must have obtained your ECA result),you will need both copies of your educational certificate as well as copies of your transcripts. You should make effort to obtain a student copy of your transcripts. |
benik: @damkollins and @solomonwis.The 1,000 cap limit is the maximum that can be accepted (out of the 25,000) for each eligible occupation. It therefore means that some occupations might not reach their cap limit while some others will do before the total maximum complete applications received. Let me paint a simple scenario,If out of the 25,000 maximum to be accepted, 1,000 people applied for 1111 (Financial Auditors & Accountants) and only 400 applied for 0113 (Purchasing Managers) and the total application received has reached 25,000.There will be no more intake as the maximum for the year has been reached (not minding the fact that Occupation 0113 (Purchasing Manager) has only 400 applications. As regards the (0) and the (-) in some occupations,I believe they both mean the same thing. That might just be some programming error (This is my opinion). It means no (complete) application has been received yet. |
subsidy12: That's is long term. All I need now is for applications purposes. With that in mind saving starts immediate after submission. If processing time takes 31months as we have read. That is more than enough time to raise the cash.Well,it doesn't work that way....Savings (or proof of settlement fund) starts prior to application because it is one of the pre-requisites for issuing a PRV. It is not worth the effort spending so much (with so much hope and dream) only for all of those to come crashing when it is discovered that you don't actually meet one of the conditions for granting the visa. Whatever will make anyone want to circumvent the process is enough motivation to want to do anything just to scale the hurdle, this is absolutely condemnable in all ramification. Nobody says you should tie down fund for the whole period of application but you must be seen to be economically established such that when you are asked to provide a proof, you will not waste time to provide such {with proof of source(s),if required}. This is a program for skilled workers (who are economically established - this is the rationale behind request for proof of fund, assets and liabilities in the application form). To come on a public forum asking for "ways to borrow money" when the instruction clearly states otherwise is not only a fundamental breach but morally wrong. It means, should people be granted the visa on that basis, they would deny genuine people who have all it takes the space. |
