Airlines business is not a profitable business . No serious businessman is into aviation business. As said by someone " no top 100 billionaire in the world is into aviation business" it's all fancy and glamour with no profitability or liquidity.

Since it is a very low margin business... volumes and routes are key . That's why having a national carrier is most.

We also need competition in local flights. It is currently too pricey and these guys are cheating customers. How can a flight of less than one hour to the east be #500k during festive season. That is devilish.

Is Richard Branson of Virgin a joke to you?

Depends, do you go to the office everyday? If not, you can try areas like Yaba, Surulere, Gbagada or do a flat share arrangement. As for marriage, that's a huge financial commitment o. Dont let family push you into something that you're not ready for. They will not be there to bear the responsibilities. Sometimes, parents try to push us to make the same financial mistakes that they made unknowingly.

Tinubu is in desperate search for money and won’t mind grounding everything to achieve his aim.

Anyone who was wondering why the data protection bill was one of Tinubu’s first bills, this is the reason.

The data protection is not the interest, the so-called fines on the banks is the target. There might actually be a push to take over these banks in the long haul.

Drug kingpins are mean, inconsiderate and only loyal to the cartel. Make of this what you will but very applicable to today’s Nigeria.

Four paragraphs of utter nonsense. Go and read the GDPR. Check the penalties.

On the flip side, the article mentioned that the research firm already shorted the stock. This might just be a fossil attempt to create fud, so people could panic sell, thereby giving them crazy returns ...but what do I know?

When the news of him wanting to buy Sheffield came out, I checked him out because I hadn’t heard the name before. The website was shoddy and far from professional. There were no serious records of a business that claims to have its hands in fintech and agritech asides braggadocios claims of this partnership and that partnership. It seemed shady.

No Savings. Your rent! brah. If you continue like this you go tey for this rat race o. I think you should cut down on housing. You should be able to get a studio from between 600 to 650. Your housing budget shouldn't exceed your 2 months salary. I assume you don't cook; however if you do, halve the feeding budget, buy a fridge/freezer. You don't need to impress anybody.

I don't think you are a Business Man, you are talking like a typical Nigeria worker or salary earner.

As an Entrepreneur most of us start with just idea with zero sum in the pocket...

Entrepreneurs are really crazy people... Na when I join nia I know... You say Budget salary for 3years. grin grin grin

Entrepreneurs are Risk Takers.

Why not go and raise funding with your stupid idea and lack of planning and see how potential investors call you out on your folly. You think investors throw all their money in your idea and your silly ability to take in calculated risk? Talmbout typical Nigerian worker or salary earner smh

adewale2011:
In startups you don't work for Salary, you work for a share percentage of the Company, so you can put in your best and watch the company grow.
Startups usually don't make profit for like at least five years. Your boss is probably paying you the 150k from his pocket not business profit. There are many Challenges with starting a Business expecially in Nigeria. So what I would advice is ask your Boss to convert your Salary to a Share percentage of the Company.

I strongly disagree with you. First of all, If you don't have the budget to pay your staff for at least 3 years then what are you running a startup for? Even if you don't have the funds budgeted, then why not hire a freelancer and pay as you go? Second, you want him to ask for equity from someone who reads his messages and ignores. The young man needs to know that the company is even worth anything.

Not knowing that you should budget for salaries and other key expenses for up to 3 years or more, and not knowing when to assess the company's situation to determine whether hiring freelancers or interns would be the best course of action shows a very fundamental flaw in the way the company is managed. This makes me question whether the business is even worth a good valuation. Equity this, equity that...are you aware that 20% of zero is still zero?

Unfortunately, it's the truth. If anyone wishes to buy a new tanker, let it be out of the goodness of their hearts. However, its possible the man was taken out of context. I think he was taken out of context. Perhaps he meant "thanks for the honour, but with the present economic situation, that tanker I lost would be more valuable in order to put food on my table".

Besides, where is his insurance? let's start from there. Ohh no don't tell me you're driving an oil tanker without insurance!! These, these right here my people, are the issues

First, congratulations on your new job. Second, it is very good for you to be ambitious. It appears that he is very short-sighted and is very insecure. Why would somebody want to curtail his woman's potential for his selfish interests? My advice, move on with the job, sever contact, don't try to reason with him, don't plead, don't explain, just cut him off and move on. He will come back but I'm not sure you want to be with someone like that.

Hi guys

Please i have a question, the way i am seeing EFCC and ICPC confiscating corrupt politicians and government workers assets, what if ones money is not from stealing public funds?

I am still young and have this big dream of becoming rich, and i know with government job you will never be rich( i mean rich).

So what if i start business and it become successful such that i have assets everywhere, will EFCC still seize those assets thinking i got them by stealing public funds, or what did Nigerian law says?

Go and read your employee policy/guidelines for civil servants, you will find the answer there.

Just imagine Canada becoming a Soviet Republic and a communist country. America will never allow it and will do to Canada what Russia is currently doing to Ukraine.

I'm not for anybody, just analyzing these events objectively.

Whether America or Russia, when your next door neighbor is a super power with nuclear capabilities, you have to choose your associates wisely.

Do you make friends with powerful associates who live faraway or you make peace with a powerful neighbor who is close by? That's the choice for Ukraine.

Now that Russia has invaded, the only thing Ukraine's "friends" are offering is sanctions.

No country is putting soldiers on the ground to help Ukraine stop the invasion.

This is a lesson for smaller countries to sit up and take notice.

Don't be used as a puppet to play big boy games.

Interesting times ahead because China is currently watching these events with glee.

Russia and China are known to back each other up.

If Russia can call the world's bluff to invade Ukraine, what's stopping China from doing the same and taking over Taiwan?

Interesting times indeed.

Ukraine isn’t under NATO protection. Let them go and attack a NATO protected country then you will see what will happen. Putin knows what he is doing.

Make I dey manage my £20k per annum go.

I have been enjoying all the fake figures all day. People earn all sorts, that is not the point of the matter. I have friends doing multiple roles cleaning out £1500/day. Take it from me no organisation in the UK will offer someone who calls himself a 'tech bro' based in Nigeria, who has no UK experience, £80,000/year unless he has some very specialist skills that cant be found in the UK.

All day People have asked him what area of tech he works in but over 18 pages he has refused to answer this question. All he has done is reel out the names of some generic tech and digital roles. Lets assume I am wrong and this guy happens to be a whizz in his field, I'd expect him to be smart enbough to decide on which offer to take and not come to ask ridiculous questions on Nairaland

Hmmm now I see your point clearer. So the issue is not the money, it’s whether or not OP has some rare specialist skill set in high demand. Oya OP over to you come and answer. But I actually know someone who was poached from Nigeria to Munich and he earns top pay. He was a full stack engineer. I think he was even largely self-taught then he worked with Konga for a while before getting this role. So it might be a different kettle of fish for the tech industry. OP come and answer your question. What’s your speciality?

[s][/s] Shut the fvck up. Nigerians don't pay taxes ,but over here, we do that all day ,every fvcking day, and you know why ? Because the system is built to keep the rich in check while the poor remain average. And that's something that eats very deep into your savings and earning potential , especially if you're a middle-income earner .

But besides all this , when was the last time you took into account things like electricity bills, community tax and other services that are paid in the UK ? Have you thought about that on 4k pounds ? Please do that before sending me more ludicrous statements

Lol see, make una leave this guy. Na typical “I’ve been in the UK for 20 years” guy. Many of them are more ignorant than you would want to imagine. No jokes o. Oh and before you try to make an attempt to come for my head, I don’t live in Nigeria o, Ehen so I know what I’m talking about. They can look down on people who are in Nigeria and actually doing very well for themselves, even better than them most times.

As for OP, take the job in the UK. You no go regret am.

Liar

Now I know why people are suspicious of stories on Nairaland. No one will make an after tax offer to you in the UK. You either pay through PAYE or you sort out your own tax outside IR35. In both cases your offer will be your gross annual salary.

Tell me I am a hater but no one is offering you a £90,000/year job in the UK from Nigeria simply because you are 'tech bro', Whatever dafuq that mean. I dont care if you can write perfect API code straight from sleep or you are a developer, SDET, BA, Architect, PM all rolled in one.

Oga relax. That you’re making 20k per annum doesn’t mean the young man can’t be offered 90k. Secondly, he didn’t tell you that the offer came as net. He must have done his likely calculation based on the gross provided and came to the conclusion that he would take home 4k monthly. There are sites that help with the correct calculations. Third, 90k per annum is actually modest for a person in the tech space especially if he already had the experience that earns him 1.5m per month in Nigeria. Have you even heard how much American law firms based in the UK pay their lawyers? It’s this “I know it all attitude” that Nigerians who have been struggling in the UK have that pisses me off. They believe anyone having better opportunities than them cannot be legit. What if I told you that I’ve got friends working in US headquartered law firm in London and earning 165k per annum? Of course you will swear with your life thag it’s impossible. That’s why sometimes it’s good to just keep quiet and observe. Make you no go embarrass yourself because you really don’t know it all.

On the flipside, it won't be bad to try it out pending when your visa works out; however, it must be because of you, because you want to not that you will go and study one obsolete course just so that people will not gossip about your parents..nah. what happens if God forbid the visa doesnt work out?
