LocalStandard1: When I see a news from the Peoples Gazette (that's where I first saw the news) I first of all believe half of it before I go on to confirm its authenticity. I don't deny or wave it off at first glance, those people can be very accurate.
When the news of the Supreme Court Judge came out the people from the other end made up all stories under heaven to deny and try to rubbish the report for days. They lambasted the news outlet and continue, as always, to try and rubbish the website. And they made up many stories with "proves" too!
When it became clear to the blind and deaf that it was true he left Nigeria on a wheelchair and was pictured, after trying briefly to deny the evidence but without tangible progress, they took a new turn and admitted but quickly spin the entire reality.
This event has made me remember the report of the INEC chairman going to Lagos to meet with Tinubu in the dead of night. It's a trend, and because there is no prove of the INEC chairman's movement it was swept off in a hush hush. Well that is until after the elections and few now realize the truth in the "rumours".
The entire Europe is not that big of a continent, the Western part especially, almost like going from one State to another in the South, only faster and smoother. UK to France is even closer. Don't be fooled, they have the money, they have the resources. Just like Tekno said, he charges his phone their, though a hype. But not them, that is their reality.
But my biggest concern is that the way we are seeing black and are made to believe it's white by the media propagandists and public spin doctors is very very damaging to self. It affects the conciousness of the masses and causes the majority to be mentally docile and intellectually lacking. They're damaging our ability to reason and process common sense.
Perfect example is the twenty five percent FCT votes saga, which is a simple and basic English turned rocket science and quantum mechanics equations, even though it has already been interpreted by the same Supreme Court few years ago. Laws are changing, basic English is being redefined and video and pictures are turning obsolete.
Our minds and the society is at risk here and it's all at the expense of a single person's ambition and burning desire, tied to a ginormous ego with plenty money to go round and the ability to also spend it. Meanwhile, Court proceedings are all about evidence. The judges claimed Atiku has no legal basis to institute the case. If your lawyers Provide enough evidence the case is yours nomatter the locus I am not a lawyer but I know this is not correct. This is an appeal court that has ruled in this case, there is no lower court that can rule against it again except a supreme court. Also, there is no evidence you want to provide that is acceptable because according to the Judges "you are a meddlesome interloper", meaning the case doesn't concern you why are you poke nosing into the affair of APC, it's their internal affair. Although a supreme court judgement on that issue earlier saw the supreme court ruled that FCT is meant to be given a state status and thus is the 37th state of the federation, but it specifically said that it was only for the purpose of that particular case and should not be used as a precedent for future cases. For it coming up again this time around they will have no option but to say clearly if it is the 37th state or should never be seen as a state but having a special status of determining the president of FRN. Since you cannot have decimal of a person, if you win 24 out of the 37 states as a presidential candidate, and since 2/3 of 37 is 24.666..., the 25th state will LIKELY be given to you if you can get close to 25% there i.e from 20% upwards. A precedent was set in that case of Awo vs Shagari, that is why till Awo died he believed he was robbed that the election was supposed to go into a run-off The truth is that no tribunal will order a run-off general election on a very minute thing like that (considering the cost, time and vacuum in govt it may likely create). So, the person that said around 25 is on track, the final say now lies with the supreme court in case such situation presents itself. We learn everyday. |

leketon: If I Had Chosen Obi, It'd Be A Mistake, Tinubu Has Been Preparing To Be President Since 1990s - Kukah
The Bishop of the Sokoto Catholic Diocese, Matthew Kukah, has revealed that if he had chosen the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi as his preferred candidate, he would have made the same mistake he made in the past because Bola Tinubu is the only candidate who came prepared for the job and has been preparing since 1990s.
In an interview with Channels Television, Bishop Kukah revealed that President Muhammadu Buhari and the duo of former presidents Goodluck Jonathan and Olusegun Obasanjo, among others who became Nigerian leaders were unprepared, but he is happy that for the first time, Nigeria is going to have a president in the Calibre of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is well prepared for the job.
The Bishop further revealed that both Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar were not prepared for the presidency, and no president or head of state in the history of Nigeria ever came prepared for the job of the number one citizen of the country except the President-elect, Bola Tinubu, who has been nursing and preparing for the task decades ago.
He said, "If I had chose Peter Obi, it would be a mistake, Tinubu has been preparing to be president since 1990s. You can go all the way down in Nigeria, you're not going to find one single person who has been President or Head of State in Nigeria that came prepared for the job. Atiku and Obi weren’t prepared for this job and that’s why I said we should not make the same mistakes in rushing to just get someone anyhow who is not prepared to be the president of Nigeria again".

The joker is Tinubu submitting his VP`s name first to the INEC before sherrif withdraw from the senatorial race. The later should have come first and Obi have attached evidence from INEC to his appeal. It is a clear case constitutional breach. No technicalities required here.
By the way Peter Obi only accept citizenship from a state in the US and not from US. This is the only plausible analysis of Obi's case I've seen so far from most emergency lawyers online. If he was never on trial for any crime in the US what are they going to testify against him for?
Police abuse of civil asset forfeiture laws has shaken our nation’s conscience. Civil forfeiture allows police to seize — and then keep or sell — any property they allege is involved in a crime. Owners need not ever be arrested or convicted of a crime for their cash, cars, or even real estate to be taken away permanently by the government.

LegendHero: Source: https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/top-news/589365-just-in-peter-obi-files-petition-against-tinubus-victory-seeks-five-prayers.html In summary, Only 2 things Obi has against the election. 1. Tinubu and Shettima are not qualified to contest 2. 25% in Abuja I'm really disappointed. I thought Obi said he was going to challenge the process. If not that the lawyers on both sides will want to use this case to chop money from both Obi and Tinubu, this case would be over within 1 month. Firstly, what were you looking at between the time that Tinubu became a candidate and the time of election that you didn't challenge the candidature then? (this was like a period of 3 to 4 months), But you just woke up now that election has been won and you want court to rule on that within 2 months before swearing in? If it gets to supreme court they will throw it out on technicalities easily. 25% in Abuja is no brainer, though it can be argued either way, but be rest assured that no sane Judge will order a fresh election because someone that had majority votes and also have 25% in 30 out of 37 states (FCT has already been given a state status by a supreme court judgement) did not get 25% in Abuja. It is going to be a unanimous decision that the section of the constitution that says "and" FCT is referring to FCT as one of the states in Nigeria. It is obvious that Obi is aware that he lost this election fair and square but just to keep his supporters loyal to him till 2027, he needs the court case (which will likely drag for the next 2 years) to keep them together till then. Good strategy. If this is the best the LP can come up with, Tinubu should start assembling his cabinet. We learn everyday. |

Politics › Re: Channels TV Host Had To Clarify The Difference Between BVAS And IREV For Obi by soojar(m): 10:34pm On Mar 17, 2023 |
Godspikin: Those asking that question are simply ignorant, that's the only reason. The purpose of the results being uploaded to IREV is not so the INEC chairman can copy the results (soft copy) of the polling unit from IREV.
IREV is a new development, introduced for the sole aim of transparency and also it is expected that the members of the public can view the results (soft copy) that emanates from each polling unit from the IREV.
For the purpose of collation that result is not needed, please note that it is expected that the hard copy and soft copy are the same, what is used in collation however, is the physical results (hard copy) signed by all the agents and security personnel present.
Now this is my answer to that question, irrespective of the fact that the soft copy is available online or not, the hard copy is used to collate results from that unit and other units at the ward level, once it has been checked to see that there is no over-voting, it will only be rejected if the number of votes is higher than the record of accredited voters on the BVAS of that unit. Each BVAS is configured for a particular unit for every election.
If the results of a ward has been collated, it goes on to local government collation, to state and then to the national collation centre (for presidential election) where it will now come to the INEC chairman, at all these layers of collation there are accredited party agents who signs.
The collation process is independent of the uploading of results on IREV. That a result of a unit has not been uploaded to the IREV does not mean that it can not be collated.
So you see, that's why the INEC chairman refused to succumb to the manipulation intended by those who were staging a show that day. There's a process and these people are aware of the process.
Before IREV, that's how collation has been done and even with IREV, uploading results or failure to upload results on IREV does not hinder collation. It's in the INEC guidelines.
I hope I answered you. Very well answered. If only most of the kids on Nairaland can have this available to them (that's if they will understand anyway), it will reduce their noise making born out of ignorance. We learn everyday |

Godspikin: Stop confusing people with your Aba made analysis.
Data can not be uploaded automatically, to accuse the Chairman of INEC wrongly shows your ignorance. It is the Presiding Officer that sends snapshots of the results from the BVAS to the IREV (Everything starts and ends at the polling unit level, anything beyond the polling unit is just collation of results already generated and confirmed to conform with the guidelines). Other information such as number of accredited voters stays on the BVAS and it is confirmed and cross checked with the results at the ward collation level. If over voting is discovered at this level the results of the unit is cancelled, if not it is collated and goes on to other layers of collation depending on the type of election.
It is pertinent to state, for the sake of those who still feel the INEC chairman is culpable in any of this. The INEC chairman has no control over what happens in the over 176,000 polling units. If any irregularity is discovered in any unit, it is the Presiding Officer, who must have signed an oath form (I know this cos I signed it several times) that will face the music. If our judiciary really wants to set this nation on the path to glory, so many corp members and ad hoc staff should go to jail.
The way the electoral system in Nigeria is now, rigging starts and ends at the polling unit, and it is a dangerous and risky assignment, as the process that allowed for one to go Scot free has been checked by the BVAS. The question some people are asking is how then did the INEC chairman get the results he was announcing when the pictures of those results have not yet been uploaded on the portal?
