@Solo1ng
bros I hail o
Let us not create confusion here, because there is no new W3A signal in the west.
Remember we all know this satellite is a high altitude satellite, so ur dish is facing west and you are getting it.
Have you considered the elevation of your dish with that facing the satellite directly and compare?
The difference may not be pronounced but I tell you can not get this with other satellite with lower elevation from your end.
I hope you can understand from the illustration bellow, both dishes facing opposite direction, but receiving same signal, just because of the position of the satellite above them.
Enjoy

Remove the 1m daarsat dish and confirm if the Sirius is still available.
The 1m dish here is what is being used for the Sirius 4. facing it in the opposite direction

@ solo1ng
The way I understand it
I have never received a Sirius signal from the west, and according to the orientation of the dish, I am very sure it is the Sirius @ 4.5 E.
Normally, I track Sirius 4 exactly opposite the direction of the dish in your picture, going by the direction of other dishes as shown. Now going by the law of angle of incidence = that of reflection of wave, this dish is receiving from Sirius 4, backing the satellite, but with the elevation raised a bit to fulfill the law. That is why you see the offset dish almost facing the sky. In my own case, facing the satellite, the elevation will be lesser.
If you understand that even the Hi dish in your picture could be turned upside-down, and still get your signal but with the elevation not being as it is, you will understand me well.
Take time out and check the direction of this dish, relate it another facing Sirius 4 normally, compare their directions and elevation. You will see the light cool
Enjoy

@ Fatruk
I want to believe that your freesat decoder would work on FTA here in naija. For card reading, only if it has not been programmed to certain conditions over there.
Notwithstanding, how sweet it would be for fta here depends on the features it has. This I believe you should have given us some info like the complete make and model of the decoder. I mean FREESAT what what what. Weather it is HD, Mpeg 4, SD, has rf output or not. Look around the decoder, you will surely gather more info about the decoder. This would enable members to know exactly what you have and tell you of any likely limitation.
Enjoy.

----- this is unlike standard DisEqC1.2 where a small error can require the installation procedure to be started from the beginning.
That is very correct.
Ive still not been able to find time to work on my H-H motor installation. I will surely align to the satellite arc properly so I can get many birds.

@spaceman,
are saying those of using 90cm should try the tp(10.719v27500) for ku?
I mean with a C-band lnb only on the dish-I use 1.8m. But when I tune to Nss7Ku and with the freq 10.719V/27500, the signals of 4.179R/27500 came up.
U can leave your dish on Nss7 C only, and blind scan Nilesat and see. This happened on my 69X.
I want the dons of the house to explain this effect please.
Thank you
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by spaceman(m): 5:12pm On Jun 21, 2010
@all,
If you are on Nss7C, you can input the freq 10.719V/27500 in the ku slot and see if you will hit green.
The channels I get is the same C band channels of 4.179R/27500.
I use only c band lnb on the dish, but if I tune to manual scan on 10.719V, the same c-band channels pop up with same signal strength.
How do we explain this effect?
Still orbiting in Space guys cool

The TP 3.931V/5.799, I dont know of it on Int 905. But seeing the low signal quality of 11%, I suspect the CNN tp on NSS7C 22W, close to Int 905. Same frequency, but SR different. It could be a "side band" effect, but Im sure the Gurus of the House would give us better idea of what it is.
Enjoy

@ALL

How is Everyone?, I hope we are fine and geared for the World Cup next week.

I have discovered something about Ntv on W7 ku.You cant easily pick that Mpeg4 frequency with an ordinary Dish, I have been wondering as to why it is so.However today I have found the solution to that, Echolink 90cm Dish is the answer.This Dish picks the signal without much problems.That is what I thought all of us must do when it comes to Nations Tv (Ntv).
Practically and professionally speaking, I will not advice you to use that dish with hi --written on it.
The dish has poor gain compared to Strong/Space dish(60cm). I have experienced this in three different places/occassion. Where you get a signal strength of 60% with Hi, you will get 90%+ with the others.
You can try this by using it to track Intelsat 7/10 ku to confirm this. Let me know your outcome please.
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by spaceman(m): 2:32pm On May 24, 2010
@bode4real

from your explanation, it seems you are using a diseqc swihch.

1- Go and check the rf connectors along the line from your decoder to lnb
2- If you are sure the dish has not shifted, then you check the polarization of the tracking  frequency.
3- I will advice you detach from other connection( if u are using a diseqc switch) and track for W7 afresh with the 4653X to a higher % before connecting to 69x.
4- make sure the port designation on your switch are done correctly on decoder and in connection
Good luck

@microgiant
fasone
Enigma,
I finally got the H-H motor for my 90cm dish.
I experienced the problem as you pointed out -I was only able to nail S4 and W3A, though not dedicated enough time to it yet.
The motor was calibrated to 15degrees minimum, hence setting the motor elevation to 9/10 degrees(my latitude) was not easy.
I quite agree with you that these motors were not made for this part of the world.
If this design should give us as low as <10 degrees, it means the motor will face upside down. How do you then hang your dish? Big question in deed.

Notwithstanding this limitation,I still believe it can still be adjusted to give me birds to the west and more to the east.
The motor is calibrated to 80deg east and west, but i discovered that I can only GOTO intelsat 902(62 deg east) maximum east. It cant go further to Pass 10, contrary to 80 deg. inscribed on it.

The connection of the diseqc after the motor proves effective than connecting it before the motor. ie
receiver=motor=diseqc switch=lnbs
On the Rx menu, i configure USAL for S4, W3A, W4. The motor only respond when channels on these satellites are selected
I will definitely set it up well and inform the house

I got home after a very long journey last night, sat down to watch news and progs. on W2A. I got disappointed when each channel I selected started going encrypted.
Well Im not feeling bad. There are lots of options in space, and Im enjoying them now.

@Salamander
I experience exactly the same thing as esuo2.
With 66% the signal still cracks after some time. it is a periodic thing. As you said even with 2.4m, hitting 73%, 3927V/8300 still cracks. To me I think it is still a transmission issue that has to be technically taken care as they uplink.  Though the difference of 10MHz and 13MHz between the tps is significant to call for bigger dish
Notwithstanding, it is my own opinion expressed as experienced.

Thanks for your advice. Just deleting the Tp and re-entering it did the magic-the same tp
Anyway, its not as if I was not aware of the Astra thread. I made the post from my phone, and that was the shortest link I got from my mailbox to save time.
Most importantly, I got result. Thanks

@ Fasone
Good to hear you have tried the set-up yourself and pointed out the realities.
That the movement time between satellite is very fast, is inspiring me to go back to it.
On the issue of latitude setting, well i dont know the make of motor you are using. The motor im talking of could span 85 degrees west and 85 degrees east. The anchor part is not calibrated, you just have to adjust it freely up/down, and fix your motor to it. I think maybe if you use the USAL mode you might not need to border on the lat stuff.
Anyway, I shall soon try it out, and from the look of the Navigator motor, i hope to achieve all!
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by spaceman(m): 11:05am On Mar 26, 2010
@Gangsta101/George_D
On the issue of lnb skew/twiking at certain clock value.
The clock value we skew lnb eg 3 o clock, depends on whether an individual stands facing the dish, or behind the dish. I think this equally amount to the reason why Mr A tracks a particular tp on V while Mr B track it on H- I stand to be corrected. The 3 o clock facing the dish is 9 o clock standing behind the dish.
As Gang said, you will still get the signal peaked at exactly 180 degrees turn.
I got a Vertical TP on Pass 10 peaked on Horizontal last night, after fruitless effort on the usual Vertical  I normally used. Behold, Immediately I changed to H, 2 seconds, gban!. The signals were just begging to be accommodated.
Tonight, I hope to explore more on this and brief the house.
Hope you have a great weekend
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by spaceman(m): 2:02pm On Mar 24, 2010
@sunnymavis
I checked dishpointer.com, using Banjul Gambia as a reference.
the dish elevation for Intelsat 10, 68.5E is -3.9 degrees-RED. Azimuth 91.2 degrees, LNB skew -76.5 degrees standing behind the dish.
Meaning if you are in Banjul, your dish will have to face the ground -using prime focus dish, to get the satellite, which is not possible.
This could be the reason for your fruitless hunting.
You may just forget the satellite. An offset dish could still help.You post your town name, and let me see.

can you please post your position?
I mean Longitude and Latitude, as well as the name of the town where you are?
Satellite TV TechnologyRe: Official Thread Of Free To Air Satellite Tv (part 4) by spaceman(m): 1:37pm On Mar 24, 2010
@sunnymavis
First of all, I will like to know if you have ever track any satellite before.
Secondly, what kind and size of dish do you use?
Bear in mind your location may be at the fringe of the Intelsat 10 beam, therefore, I will advice you use nothing less than 90cm.
Again, if you have ever tracked a satellite before, use the experience on how yo point your dish-either prime focus or offset dish.
Please try and post a picture of the dish and the surrounding environment. Here you have to remember that the elevation of this satellite is low, therefore the height of your dish above the ground is very important to be in line of sight with the satellite. I believe it could be obstruction on the line of sight. Remember your lnb Skew.
Try visit http://www.dishpointer.com/. Enter your zip/location, select the satellite and navigate to your house location. It will tell you if the satellite is visible from your end -green, or not-red.
I hope these help.
