Travel › 42 Private Jets Land At Lagos Airport Daily by specialguest(op): 6:07pm On Mar 03, 2013
No fewer than 42 private jets land at the Murtala Muhammed Airport, Lagos daily.

A statement obtained by our correspondent from Nigeria’s first commercial private jet hangar, Evergreen Apple Nigeria, on Friday indicated that it received 15 private jet fights everyday.

But further findings on Friday from two aviation agencies, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria and Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority showed that a total of 1,200 private jet flights landed at the Lagos airport every month.

And by implication, it means at least 300 of the flights are recorded every week and 42 every day.

Of the 1,200 private flight jets, it was learnt that 450 arrived at Evergreen Apple hanger, while the remaining 750 jets landed at Execujets hangar and other private hangars at the Lagos airport.

Private aircraft movements have been on the rise in Nigeria lately due to the increase in ownership of luxury planes.

Other airports where there is a boom in private jet flights are Abuja, Kano and Kaduna.

Evergreen, which recently stated that it was monitoring the upward trends in the aviation business, said its daily private jet movements were running to an average of 15 flights.

The firm said its “business aviation movements have increased by over 100 per cent year-on-year, and daily movements are running at an average of 15 daily.”

According to the firm, flights are arriving into the FBO predominantly from Europe with London, Ireland, Germany, Spain, France and Austria, all featuring as regular starting points as they bring business executives into Nigeria.

It said, “Flight arrivals from the Middle East are also growing with Dubai, Saudi Arabia and Aman rating highest in terms of originating destinations.

“Within the continent of Africa, the movements mirror comments operators and charter brokers are making in terms of most active destinations. National flights within Nigeria and from further afield including Gambia, Cameroon, Ghana and Equatorial Guinea all reflect the increase in African business aviation activity driven by the continent’s continued expansion of energy, mineral, agricultural and telecom sectors.”

The statement quoted the Chief Executive Officer of Evergreen, Mr. Segun Demuren, as saying, “Owing to the size of the continent, the mid to heavy jets are proving most popular at the EAN Hangar Jet Centre. Gulfstream 400/450 models, the Bombardier Global Express family and the full range of the Bombardier Challenger types from 601s to 850s are regularly parking up at the hangar.

“The range of the aircraft enables business executives and government officials travelling around Africa and further afield to the Middle East and Europe to travel in the most convenient and efficient way.”

It was learnt that charter operators provided the main body of traffic through the airport but increasingly, privately owned aircraft belonging to local entrepreneurs were also contributing to the movement figures.

In addition, the increased movements had led to a greater demand for premium services, Evergreen said.

Car Talk › Re: Why Can't People Keep Car Keys Away From View by specialguest(f): 6:28pm On Mar 02, 2013
Some people can't keep their car keys in their bags or pockets because its a master key, it opens all the doors they need to open.grin

On a serious note, I think most of us do it unintentionally. Until yesterday, I never had a key holder on my car key so imagin if I was drop that single key in my handbag each time I park ( mind you my handbags are quite roomy with all sorts of stuff in there). I may spend the next 30mins trying to find the key when its time to drive off. To save myself the stress I just hold it in my hand till I get a table or somewhere safe to drop it.

vandarsar: this one works for me: send her a gift or flower to her office or home anonymously, then u wait on her to acknowledge receiving a gift from a stranger. If she does you have a faithful girl if she doesn't , then you know what you're in for.

OR, using an anonymous sim you could persistently send her nice messages, when she calls don't pick it, after a while she must either tells you or keep it away from you....... If she does tells you, then she's worried cause she doesn't have anyone else who could be sending such messages, if she doesn't, ummmmmmm , I rest ma case
Intresting, i just learnt 'something' here. Thankx for sharing this. I never used to mention the unsolicited text messages and gifts i recieve because i assume he would not understand or believe me when i say i dont know who sent them. But henceforth i would try to tell him so i dont get labelled as a CHEAT!

Celebrities › Re: Rich People Who Feared Giving Their Children Money by specialguest(f): 9:10am On Feb 21, 2013
pinnochio: Femi Otedola is kinda more famous now than his ex-governor father. smiley
Aliko Dangote's father wasn't poor.
Mike Adenuga's mother was a well-known businesswoman.

Also, Bill Gates and Mark Zuck didn't get admitted to Harvard on scholarship o, it was
their parents' money. Maybe they are exceptions to the rule but I think it's all about the
Individual. Anybody can decide to be great regardless of family connections or pedigree.

My 2 cents.
Good points you raised. But do you realise the people you mentioned up there are all business muguls? I would like to point out to you that Bill gates,Femi Otedola,Mike Adenuga and the rest you mentioned up there did not inherit those empires they are floating now from their parents rather they had great ideas and built on it and that is why they are succesful and famous.
The lesson here is that, a big family name and wealth can act as a catalyst in giving you a 'good life" but to become rich and famous you have to make your own money!
Politics › Re: Marriage Renewal By Gov. Uduaghan (pictures) by specialguest(f): 1:03am On Feb 21, 2013
Which one be this again na? Must they always create an avenue to galivant with tax payers money? The annoying thing is that the common man would not even be allowed anywhere near the venue when such celebrations are going on and yet the funding is from the state's budget. Its also the same reason why most politicians hasten to marry out their children while they are still in power especially the northern governors.
Celebrities › Re: Rich People Who Feared Giving Their Children Money by specialguest(f): 12:44am On Feb 21, 2013
Nice one! The kids should also work hard for their own money. Afterall have you ever heard of a rich man's son being more famous than his father? The Abiola's, Abacha's, Babangida's , Atiku's, Akande's , Adenuga's to name but a few, they all have grown up children but is any of the children more famous than their rich fathers? NO and the reason is simple, go figure it out folks.

binger: Too bad i was MIA when the topic was still hot. But,we could delve into it a bit.
Honestly,i agree with ya. But it gets to a point,if you want to be seen as a potential wife,u gat to do wifely things and give him a little of those 'rights' reserved 4 hubbies.
By giving him abit of those rights reserved for the husband i guess u mean i can cook halfway while he completes it, arrange water and soap for him while he does his laundry, help him with the broom and duster while he sweeps the room right? That's fair enough

In the whole of this thread i only saw two men who were weaned off at the 'appropriate' time by their mamas. Acisosis and Cfcfan.. It seems most guys on nairaland were weaned off too early by their mamas hence their need for a replacement girlfriend.. They want to be bosom fed, spoon fed, bed fed, cleaned after, and probably given a lunch box to take to work everyday yet they dont want to get married. For your information guys those rights are solely reserved for the husbands..!

buchibabe: Turning his house upside down all in d name of cleaning and playing d "wifey" does not guarantee d title "mrs". However like some peeps hv said here,u can help out once in a while like weekends.
I belong to the same school of thought as you. Imagine a typical Nigerian guy who has 'n' number of girlfriends, if more than one of them exhibits the 'wifey characteristics' as defined on this thread i.e cooking, cleaning, laundry etc .. What is the guarantee that at the end of it all you will become his Mrs?

Back to op's question, personally i wont take up the responsibilities of his mother until we start getting serious and the relationship is heading somewhere then i can lay my guards down and begin to show the 'wifey' qualities. By the way food is a MUST! so whether we are getting serious or not i like to play by the rule which says the way to a man's heart is...................... Therefore i make exceptions for cooking.
