Crime › Re: Woman Burns Girl's Thighs With Hot Iron For Stealing N1000 by specialguest(f): 8:54pm On Jan 27, 2013
batstan: U've never been there and i pray u n i don't find ourselves there. She wasn't sold, it is called self reliance. POVERTY is worse than HIV/AIDS. Maybe u've not seen it in action in ur neighbourhood * it can walk tall in Naija, just drive to some neighbourhood n see 4urself*
I may not know what extreme poverty is but I know a couple in my village who have 8 kids and a very insufficient means of livelihood. I learnt that woman tells everyone who cares to listen how she would rather eat sand and poo with her kids than send any of them to the city to serve a master.
I respect her ideology because child labour/slavely has eaten deeply into our society that the so called people who have the mandate to protect these children (i.e Naptip, wotclef, etc) are actually the ones enslaving them. Unfortunately most homes in the cities have these village kids as house helps and the kind of treatment lashed out on them is nothing to be proud of.

Witch.

I wonder what kind of poverty makes some village parents 'sell' off their kids all in the name of apprentice...

Health › Re: Woman Gives Birth Twice In 9 Months by specialguest(f): 1:49pm On Jan 25, 2013
That's nice, the couple should get ready to welcome yet another baby by march if care is not taken.. Its obvious the pills have failed, Abstinence should be the next line of action until she gets sterilised or better still they can cut off the man"s "thing"..
I pray the new born baby grows without any complication also.

I gradually lost interest in watching the super eagles play after Atlanta 96.. The height of it was when they completely transformed to Super Chickens with the help of NFF.
Gosh that team is an embarassment to Nigeria.

Family › Re: HELP!!!!!!!!!!! Am Still Scared Of Dad At Age 26. by specialguest(f): 9:25pm On Jan 21, 2013
Your dad must have been extremely strict on his kids while bringing them up... In as much i support discipline, i advise parents draw a thick line between discipline and bullying..
If at 26 you still feel uneazy around your dad, i guess you might never out grow it.
Search within yourself and see if there is a particular memory of him in your childhood that caused you pain, forgive him and begin to see him in a new light if he no longer exhibits those traits.. However if he still does, i advise you have a man to man, heart to heart talk with him. Let him know he has instilled so much unwarranted fear in you and it is makes you tremble each time you meet.

Have you got siblings? Do they also feel these way about your father?
Romance › Re: How Close Should A Man Be With His Heavily Pregnant Wife? by specialguest(f): 9:12pm On Jan 21, 2013
Pardon me op are you asking a question or advising the couple? From your post it seems you have solutions for them already.

Anyway for the records i intend for my husband to be there with me all through the '9months' afterall i didnt plant the baby in my tummy all by myself grin...But Incase he can't , then am off to my mama's house till i put to bed. And yes it is allowed in my culture to temporarily leave your husband's house and live with your parents if you need special care during your pregnancy.
Family › Re: 2 Kids Found Dead In A Car by specialguest(f): 6:34pm On Jan 21, 2013
elampiro: Am I missing something from the story or I just didn't understand it? I have slept inside my car twice overnight, and completely wound up. I didn't put on the AC, I slept and I woke up very strong.
I agree with you, from the story it's obvious the kids were only trapped in the car for about an hour or so..I doubt if suffocation is the cause of their death. Nevertheless its a tragic event and may the souls of the young angels rest in peace.

Nairaland General › Re: When Nigerian Policeman Stops You: What Not To Say? by specialguest(f): 8:15am On Jan 21, 2013
From debrief"s post one can easily conclude that the best way to handle the Nigerian police when you meet them on the road is by showing “courtesy with caution”.

I have learnt a thing or two from this thread which means I won't feel so irritated again the next time a police man flags me down.

By the way shouldn"t we have a book like "a guide to being friends with Nigerian oga police"@least it would reduce the alarming rates of accidental discharge.
Family › Re: Saying ''thank You' After Meal Still Relevant In Our Society? by specialguest(f): 2:23pm On Jan 19, 2013
Unlike everyone here who says Thank you all the time, i rarely say thank you after a meal at home and that' s because i do most of the cooking. However when i am served food outside my house by default i always say thank you before and after the meal.
Nairaland General › Re: Nairaland's Journey To 1 Million Members by specialguest(f): 4:23pm On Jan 18, 2013
A very short story by mukina2. One would have expected a more explicit tale giving an insight into Nairaland's journey from conception to actualization. Dedicated and interactive members from 2005 till date should also be recognised afterall not all love affairs last for this long( 8years).

Thirdly and totally off point i would like to know how many girlfriends 190 has had from 2005 when nairaland started till date...
Culture › Re: How Does Mirror Affect Infants by specialguest(f): 10:32am On Jan 18, 2013
ITbomb: I got this back then.
When a baby sees the reflection, he/she is instantly attracted to it but sees it as a different person. From that moment the baby will be looking for that 'friend' that he/she saw and may sometimes cry unnecessarily when he need he/she want to see the 'friend' again.
Whereas the mother would not understand why the baby is crying.
#YOUAREFREETOQUOTEME
Sounds logical.... I'll just stick to this explanation for future reference...
Well just to let you guys know that am married to my ex now (wedded last saturday) and she's the best thing I never had.
Ex shouldn't really be an ex especially if u both were inexperienced and had to path ways for failure to appreciate one another.
Awww love tales.. HML to both of you.

Btw i am of the opinion that there is a huge difference between a break up and taking a break... The latter case is reversible because the feelings are very much alive and after a while reconciliation sets in....
