Renowned obstetrician and pioneer of in vitro fertilisation unit at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Prof. Osato Giwa-Osagie, has said men should start preparing themselves to have babies just like women in future. He said this was possible with advances in the science of Assisted Reproductive Technologies world-wide. The art of producing children through the fertilisation of eggs by sperm in a laboratory, known as IVF, holds the key to solving most of the age-long problems associated with infertility. With ART it was possible for men to have babies like women. According to him ”Men could have pregnancy just like women. A man could be put on large doses of oestrogens. A donated egg can be fertilised with sperm and the embryo can now be injected into the man‘s abdomen to achieve abdominal pregnancy. ”Abdominal pregnancy occurs in women and also outside of a womb. So, theoretically, it can also occur in men.” What Do you say to this. |
Update: Contrary to expectations, the ex-Governor will spend only 2 years in jail. Each of the six charges that Alamieyeseigha was found guilty of carries two years imprisonment. They are, however, to run concurrently from the day his of arrest ( i.e. December 9, 2005). Since one year prison term is about nine months, the former governor will regain his freedom in a couple of weeks. The court also ordered the forfeiture of Alamieyeseigha’s property at V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa; one situated at 2, Marscibit Street, Ishaku Rabiu Estate, Off Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja; property at 34, Amazon Street, Maitama, Abuja, N1 billion worth of shares in former Bond Bank; $160,000 in account number 005482562491 with an American bank; and N105million in account number 2010062850006 with former Bond Bank. Back to your question: The man actually pleaded guilty and that means he did what he was accused of. However, the trend of justice globally is that of “correcting” offenders instead of “punishing” them. Demonstration of remorse by offenders is acceptable as part of the corrective process. |
A Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday sentenced former Bayelsa State Governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, to 12 years imprisonment for false declaration of assets and money laundering. He was convicted on six out of the 33 amended charges preferred against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Each of the six charges that Alamieyeseigha was found guilty of carries two years imprisonment. They are, however, to run concurrently from the day of his arrest ( i.e. December 9, 2005). Since one year prison term is about nine months, the former governor will regain his freedom in a couple of weeks. Mr. Alamieyeseiga is however to forfeit his property at V&A Waterfront, Cape Town, South Africa; one situated at 2, Marscibit Street, Ishaku Rabiu Estate, Off Aminu Kano Crescent, Wuse II, Abuja; property at 34, Amazon Street, Maitama, Abuja, N1 billion worth of shares in former Bond Bank; $160,000 in account number 005482562491 with an American bank; and N105million in account number 2010062850006 with former Bond Bank.

Ex-Bayelsa State Gov. Diepriye Alamieyeseigha has bagged 2 Years Imprisonment for Corrupt Enrichment and Money Laundering. Earlier Chief Alamieyeseigha, has this morning entered into a plea bargaining with officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and pleaded guilty to an amended six-count charge of money laundering. Following this, the former governor is to forfeit all his money and assets pleaded in the charge by the EFCC. Plea bargaining is a legal arrangement whereby an accused agrees with the prosecutor to plead guilty in consideration of a lighter sentence. The former governor’s travails began when he was arrested at the Heathrow Airport United Kingdom in 2005 in connection with allegations of money laundering. He was arraigned in a London court and later granted bail. He jumped bail and escaped to Nigeria where he was later impeached by the Bayelsa State House of Assembly. He was immediately arrested by EFCC officials and dragged to court to face trial. http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=84579 http://www.thenewsng.com/modules/zmagazine/article.php?articleid=17728 |
A sweet wind of change indeed. What about the release yesterday of Lagos State's 10bn LG funds. A big plus! |

My brother, I tire o. They are all birds of a feather. I used to be with DOPC before changing to Swift. Do I regret my action? O! boy, regret is an understatement. I may be in the office for 2, 3 days without signal and before the end of the month they have disconnected you. Thier accounting system (though, they claimed to automate it) is a no-issue. Men, I regretted ever coming close to Swift. Somebody just recommended VGC and their engineers will be in my office this afternoon. Before I sign anything with this VGC people, we will have to visit Okija 2gether and swear that they will not give me Celtel and swift service. ![]() No be lauging matter. ![]() |

The opinion of Dr. David Oyedepo (the Presiding Bishop of Winners Chapel and the Cancellor of Covennat University), has summarised everthing. According to him "Oyedepo expressed disappointment at the way the National Youth Service scheme is being managed, saying that whereas 1,200 graduates of the school qualified to participate in the programme, only 39 slots were allocated to it. To him, the fact that so many graduates from tertiary institutions across the nation would have to stay at home for a year without the opportunity to work, due to their inability to participate in the NYSC programme for no fault of theirs, testified to the failure of the programme. He said, “The programme is already failing and it is better for them (government) to be advised to stop the programme or get to work. Students live like animals in orientation camps. There are no beds. There are no toilet rolls. You use polythene bags to go to toilet and throw them to the bush. It is unfortunate that government has become insensitive and irresponsible. They have politicised everything. “The issue of NYSC shows the failure of the educational system. They do not have any moral right to ask people not to work in a year because they are on the queue for the NYSC. It is satanic. Government should be warned through a sharp reaction from the public. So many poor people have sent their children to school, sweating out their lives. Now you see those children going to farm with their parents because they cannot work. “In a school of 120,000 graduates, they have space for only 45,000. That means the next time, if the budget is not increased, you will only have 45,000. So, a lot of people might not get in until next year, and the ones coming next year might wait for the next two years. The same thing almost happens in medical school. You come out of school and you cannot get a space to do your housemanship; and after two years, the Nigerian Medical Association says you must go and rewrite your examinations before you can qualify for house job. “It is a failure of the system and I think government should be well advised, if they would listen. But they hardly do. “We have a very deaf government, with daft people. It is unfortunate. And I think the public just have to wake up and do something very sharp. That is my position on the NYSC. It is a very callous policy, it is a very callous decision. It is an inhuman decision. It is an immoral decision, and I think the government should be well advised.” For detail of the interview, click http://www.punchontheweb.com/Articl.aspx?theartic=Art20070721057571 |
I bumped on this article by David Wygat on the net (see http://dating.personals.yahoo.com/singles/datingtips/3346/how-to-charm-a-woman ) .I find it very interesting and accurate, at least. How do you see it? _______________________________________________________________________________________________ Women are complicated, but some things are universal. Do they like a daily check-in phone call? Does she secretly wish you'd text her in the middle of the day for no reason but to make her smile? Do they prefer expensive dinners to home-cooked meals? Rock-hard abs? Flowers for no reason? Identifying women's turn-ons is complicated, because they all react differently. Some women you wish came with owner's manuals so you knew exactly how they were wired. Luckily, I've done most of the legwork for you and am happy to pass this knowledge on to you. 1. Be aware. This means cracking open more than the sports section on the daily paper. Be up on current events and learn the difference between feelings, emotions and thoughts. Women are emotional beings and tend to think things through. They are attracted to men who are as smart or smarter They are attracted to men who are as smart or smarter than them, and your knowledge of worldly matters will demonstrate your intelligence. 2. Demonstrate humor. Women love a man who can make them laugh. Now don't fret here if you're not a stand-up comedian. We all have a certain type of humor. You can be dry, sarcastic, hilariously funny, quick-witted or dark. Being able to poke fun at yourself and just plain old being goofy is a turn-on for women. Keep in mind that all women are not attracted to the same type of humor, so if you don't vibe, just walk away and try someone else. 3. Have passion. A guy who lives his life with gusto is incredibly appealing. When you speak to a woman about your life, your travels, your job, your interests, speak with passion. That passion about who you are will turn her on instantly. She will start to imagine what it will be like when you are involved with her and how passionate you will speak about her. 4. Be considerate. Pay attention to the little things and look for opportunities to make small gestures that show you care. A simple "How was your day?" and being able to listen to her when she wants to discuss something are huge. So many men forget about simple things like holding the door, paying for her valet or just thanking her for a great time last night. Women are all about a guy with manners -- she is not attracted to the dope who acts like a caveman. 5. Be honest. Share who you are by telling her something personal Share who you are by telling her something personal. Maybe share one of your favorite childhood memories or some personal growth that you have been going through. Something that will show her that you are a trusting and honest person. It also shows that you are a confident but vulnerable man. Women love to see the vulnerable side of you. Note: Don't talk about an ex in a bad way here. If you have to talk about an ex, do so in a positive manner and share what you learned and how you grew from the relationship. 6. Be flexibile. Be open to her plans but surprise her with your flexibility. Take charge and surprise her with a fun night out. Instead of being the typical guy who makes a reservation, think about how you can be the guy who listens to her and plans a great date that she did not expect. If you can pull this off, she will be open to all sorts of advances from you. 7. Be positive. If you are positive about life, it shows in your actions. I always tell men to be extra nice to waiters, bartenders and other service people. Be a courteous driver when she's in the car. When you are in line at the movies, don't complain. Look for the humor and try to have fun with people all around you. Be positive about everything, and she will find you to be very sexy and alluring. No one wants to be with a negative hothead. 8. Be balanced. Women love a successful, ambitious man. They love that you work hard, but if you constantly put work ahead of her she will become turned off. She will start to imagine what life with you will be like with her needs being ignored. If you are out meeting women to date, you need to balance your life between work and play. This will be a major turn-on for her. 9. Have ambition. Men who are ambitious about what they do are a turn-on to women. It doesn't matter if you choose to be a rich stock trader or a painter, as long as you are passionate about who you are and what you do. If you don't love what you do, find something that really turns you on. You can't attract the woman you want with a negative ambition. Women love a man who is the best at what he does. 10 Be attentive. You are out with her for the very first time, and she tells you she loves a certain type of music. On the next date take her to a lounge that plays that type of music. It is all about paying attention to the details and working on your listening skills. This list of 10 things will work in most cases. Keep in mind there is always the woman who you just can't seem to please. If you happen to cross paths with this type of woman, ask yourself, "Why would I want to be with a woman who is so difficult?" I tend to avoid the difficult, judgmental women. Knowing women's turn-ons and putting them into practice will help you identify women who may be relationship material. You need to realize that you want to attract and turn on the women that are attracted to you on an equal level!

Seun, The idea is good but the implementation will be an herculian task. In this part of the world job na job so far it puts food on your table. Remember, The Guardians newspaper tried to do this by putting Science/IT stuff on Tuesday and Social Sciences/Art stuff on Thursday. But you know what, it failed! Why? because if an organisation wants to advertise for positions, are u going to divide the advert into Tuesday and Thursday simply because of categorization. We can never have a clear division when it comes to Vacancies. I will suggest we categorize it according to deadline and once it expires we remove them. |

Very Controversial thread! The best course depends on individual What you want to be. Where your passion lies. At the end of the day you don’t want to end up somewhere you don’t want to go, studying something you don’t like or doing something you don't want to do. And because no course can survive on his own, one course is bad afterall. Only that fingers no dey equal! @ poster If you read mathematics and it aids your thinking ability, Is it not on other courses/profession. Or can you be thinking about maths and money starts flowing in? |
This is certaininly not the best of time for "almighty" Nuhu "Ribadun" (Yoruba word for Bribe is sweet). A good lesson for people in positions of authority about the transient of power. |
Poor Ribadu! He has outlived his usefulness and his cup is full. I still maintain that OBJ is the biggest potical mistake Nigeria ever made. The man is devil-impersonate. The good platform he met and used as a stepping-stone (PDP), he has destroyed. Even those eulogising OBJ when he was in power, did so for thier survival. I mean how many founders of PDP, that are still in PDP can you count today. OBJ is a professor in Use & Dump Syndrome. What of people like Bola Ige, Okonjo-Iweala, Tafa, Ehindero, Soludo, Jerry Gana. I mean, the list is endless. These people have been used and dropped. So if Yar'adua is breaking from the useless stigma, so be it. No Obasanjo die-hard supporter should have a say in this new dispensation. They dont deserve it. QED |

Yahoo! news reports that a couple in Oklahoma has won a $105.8million Powerball jackpot. Assuming you are the one, 1. How will you react to the news? 2. How will you take it? 3. How will you spend the money? The full gist according to http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070630/ap_on_re_us/powerball_winners Don Harvey's long-haul truck had almost 2 million miles on it when its engine died this week. Now, he's planning to ride the road in style, after winning a $105.8 million Powerball ticket with his wife. Harvey and his wife, Joyce, said they will pay off bills, help family members and think about buying a new home with their winnings. They chose to receive a $33.3 million lump sum after taxes instead of the full amount paid out over 29 years. The ticket was purchased at a Shell service station in Roland, about five miles east of Muldrow where they live in eastern Oklahoma, almost on the Arkansas border. It was a quirky thing that she won, she said, because she always had bought lottery tickets using the same numbers. She said she recently bought a ticket, but the numbers "came out wrong." She said she decided to use those same numbers when she bought the ticket in Roland and bingo, it was a winner. Joyce Harvey said she was in "absolute disbelief and shock" when she checked the numbers on her computer Thursday night and found she had the winner. "Basically, I just broke down and cried," she said. The couple said they were "pretty satisfied with our life" and would have to think long and hard about what do with the money after first paying off bills. But they don't expect things to change too much. A truck driver all his adult life, the 64-year-old Don Harvey said he did not plan to stop working. "I've got to have something to do," he said. "I can't go fishing all the time and I don't play golf." He said he would buy a fancier truck than the one that finally quit running after he rolled into Muldrow from a trip delivering air conditioners to Madison, Wis. But it won't be a new one, he said, saying there is no reason to waste money, even if you've got it to waste, on a vehicle that greatly depreciates in its first two years. The couple did not tell anyone of their big score before a news conference Friday afternoon at the Oklahoma Lottery Commission in Oklahoma City. The Multi-State Lottery Association announced previously that only one ticket sold for Wednesday night's drawing matched the six numbers drawn: 9-11-13-24-43, and Powerball 18. The odds of winning were about 176 million to one, said Jim Scoggins, executive director of the lottery.

A step in the right direction. I wish he will do same at the expiration of his tenure. Baba had about N200,000 (or is it N20,00, I am not sure) in his account, when he came out of prison but he is now a billionaire. Much talk, less action. OBJ is the biggest political mistake Nigeria has ever made. I stand to be corrected. |
