IslamRe: Lagos State Confiscates Sallah Rams by stagger: 9:34am On Oct 08, 2013
Rams should be sold in designated areas. That is how an area in my street was suddenly converted to a ram market until the police division closeby put a stop to it. We should try to keep the laws.

That said, make government forgive them and return the rams. They are quite expensive.
BusinessRe: Daylight Robbery At Conoil!!! by stagger: 11:42pm On Oct 07, 2013
mojeer678: On my way from Alausa towards the island this evening around 5:45, I suddenly remembered my 25 litre keg in the car boot is yet unfilled.

With the uncertainty regarding PHCN and its unbundled successors, I had no wish to battle mosquitoes and heat tonight and quickly made a detour at the Conoil (that's when I should've taken the hint, Con oil, as in Con Air, for those who've watched the film featuring Nicholas Cage).

I asked the salesgirl at the service station located opposite that The Apostolic Church Basilica at Olorunda, Ketu shortly before you get to Alapere, to fill the keg but to ensure that it doesn't get to the brim, fully believing that a 25 litre keg would get filled with 25 litre of premium motor spirit (PMS).

You can imagine my shock thus when the metre read 26 litre @ 2,522:00 and still reading without the fuel anywhere nearing the top of the keg!

I didn't know when I yelled at the girl to stop pumping the fuel. It's a horrible experience. The girl didn't bat an eyelid. I told her that I'm not paying more than 2,425:00 which is the normal price for a 25 litre keg @ the abnormal price of 97 naira per liter. See drama!

To cut the story short, different theories were propounded; how kegs expand (this is a new keg), how this how that. All lies.

It's crazy. We're being robbed blind everywhere. As long as the regulators are sleeping, incompetent, compromised, inept, criminally complicit, the consumers would always be ripped off.

Until there's fuel shortage before you see the DPR or one funny department in the Ministry of Commerce, Weights & Measure I think, coming out to catch erring dealers. Despite the fact that what we buy isn't the actual litre, there's always an adjustment for 'operational loss' premised on the fact that fuel evaporates and it won't be fair for marketers to bear that loss, so they are allowed to slightly adjust the metre. Yet, some or most of these marketers are just too greedy, they connive with the pump mechanics to further adjust the meters.

That's what happened to me today.

Most responsible oil marketing companies have teams who periodically monitor the pumps of their dealers but even these teams are susceptible to corruption by the dealers/managers/supervisors manning the sales outlets.

Some have even perfected the art that out of the 4, 6, 8 pumps working at any given time in a service station, 2 would have been outrightly compromised! And these are constantly changed so as to defeat the smart buyer.

The way to know which stations are faithful with their pumps? Look out for stations constantly patronised by Okada riders!
You just caused a scene over nothing. When a 25-litre keg is old, it expands to 26 litres. As someone who started selling kerosene in cans in 1987, I should know better about this.

People should be proud of what their money has got them. As far as nobody got the phone for you and it was your money, make dem comot their eye for wetin no concern them. Nonsense!
HealthRe: 5 Abuja Hospitals You Should Know About by stagger: 6:27pm On Sep 24, 2013
Why would someone come here to start advertising for these govt hospitals? Is this coming from personal experience or is someone paying fr some exposure? Indeed, with the Indian embassy issuing 18,000 medical visas last year, I really do not know what impact these hospitals are having when the rich have no confidence in them.

Kayjegs, I must say that your thread is highly educative. I just returned from my village and was stunned by the number of unemployed graduates in my paternal compound alone. Many of them need to read that thread.

For those who truly want the kero manual, they will have to send their phone nos so I can text them the details of payment.

Car TalkRe: As A New Driver, Can I Attempt Interstate Roads? by stagger: 4:19pm On Sep 16, 2013
Even as an experienced driver, it is best to drive inter-state only if you have gone through those roads with public transport. Driving is not just about entering the vehicle, changing gears and turning the steering wheel. Nigerian roads have a lot of nasty surprises.

You may have heard stories of the fake mechanics (actually robbers) who pour oil on people's tires and rob them when they stop. Not to mention the potholes and gullies at hidden areas of the road. Some driving decisions require maturity and experience, and I doubt you have both at your age and with only 18 months driving experience.

Don't dare the elements.
SportsRe: Nigeria To Play Ethiopia In World Cup Play-off by stagger: 4:03pm On Sep 16, 2013
I think this draw was fixed. Every one knows it will be bad rep for Africa for its champion to be eliminated from the World Cup playoffs, which is why we were given probably the weakest team among the 10 qualifiers.
PoliticsRe: USA Minimum Wage Vs Nigeria Minimum Wage. by stagger: 11:35am On Sep 15, 2013
You can make N8 and spend N3, leaving you with N5 (Naija).

OR

You can make N30 and spend N28, leaving you with N2 (US).

Stop comparing us with the US. The only good thing they have going is that they have a social security structure, which is totally absent here. Apart from that, nothing!

Mayweather simply took the guy to school. Look at those head snapping jabs, crosses and uppercuts. He was basically toying with El Canelo. How CJ Ross could conjure up a 114-114 scoreline is absolutely unbelievable.

upuphim: Police Provost Marshals, what happened to reduction in rank as punishment. Mark you, you are not better than them and whoever digs a pit will fall into it. I don't support taking bribe but the punishment was too harsh and probably vindictive, period.
Serves them right. IGP Abubakar came into office on the back of controversy and has been very determined from day one to make sure his tenure is one where a lot of wrongs are made right. How many policemen have been dismissed in times gone by for such actions?

Thanks to technology and the new IGP, things are taking a new shape in Nigeria. Please people should capture such things and keep them coming.
Christianity EtcRe: How My Friend Was Brutalised By Winners Chapel Officials In Abuja by stagger: 4:47pm On Sep 10, 2013
Well, this is indeed a very sad story. But I must say that involving the police was not a smart move. Even in matters outside church, we know that "a suspect can turn to complainant, and a complainant can turn to a suspect" (I am quoting an ASP I heard muttering this rubbish in a particular police base in PH). Same was repeated to me at a check point somewhere in Ankpa as I was driving back from Enugu to Abuja recently and was apprehended for not carrying my tinted glass permit.

With a police force that has such a mentality, any right thinking person should be very careful inviting the police into a matter, even if you are the victim in the case (so the bolded is not your portion).

You should also know that the traffic units in many Winners branches are security operatives who carry their attitudes to civilians into the church premises. I have had a few skirmishes with some of them and even witnessed some ugly ones in the name of parking. With the threats of the Boko Haram (where one member of the sect was caught with suspected IED materials in the premises of a Winners branch last year), it has gotten even worse.

During Shiloh 2012 in Durumi for instance, soldiers were used to search cars in a very aggressive fashion. It is unfortunate, but the OP should have taken the matter up with the church's top echelon. He would have achieved redress and matters would not have gotten to the levels that they got to.

And please, a little common sense pays. Watch the parking arrangement and park properly. Try to avoid confrontations with the traffic guys please. Many of them are soldiers or police and are too aggressive. Just avoid trouble and stick to the reason you came to church.
InvestmentRe: Getting A Bank Loan Without Collateral: How? by stagger: 9:45pm On Sep 09, 2013
Mr.Sky123:
I want to diversify my business and I have about Six Million naira (6,000,000 Naira) in my bank account and I need extra Five Million Naira ( 5 ,000,000 Naira).
I want to approach my bank for a loan but unfortunately I don't have any collateral to secure the 5,000,000 Naira loan needed for the project.
I want to ask the house how I can procure this loan from any bank with my bank statement of account and the business plan.
Thanks
My friend, NEVER you collect a bank loan. The same way you got the N6m you have is the same way you can raise the extra N5m. I am talking from experience. Now banks are the ones running after me and I usually tell them off because by the grace of God, I have understood how to use what I have to get what I want. Everyone has that innate ability but most cannot tap into it because they are blinded or told this farcical myth that bank loans are necessary to do business.

Pastor or Parent, whose Advise do you prefer?
You are talking arrant nonsense. By the time a human being gets to the age of being able to listen to a pastor, is that person supposed to still be in his father's house? Isn't that person supposed to be an adult capable of thinking and making decisions?

Just type Tommy Morrison on Google and see his picture when he won the WBO title in 1993 and his last known pic on the Google home page. HIV is very real.
