Well, one of the newspapers reported that the CBN is considering an official devaluation of the Naira. So I am not surprised. |
I changed $300 today for N48,000. That is N160 to the dollar. I guess buying rate should be N163. |
OP, You need to have your head examined. Do the church universities takes canes and start flogging parents to send their children to their schools by compulsion? I have never gone to any private school right from when I was a kid, and my academic performance was stellar from kindergarten to university. You do not need to go to private schools for anything. |
OP, You have to understand that there is --the pastor as a minister of God and ---the pastor as the human being. Both are very different, so if you are waiting for a man of God to be your role model instead of using Christ Himself as your role model, you will wait forever. I used to attend a church where some of the guys wanted us to contribute N50,000 each to buy a jeep for the pastor when I was fully aware that there were people who could not pay school fees in the same church. I objected and became a pariah. Of course I left the place. My experience there was what guided me to make a selected choice of where I am attending now, and what I subscribe to. But I can actively tell you that the only role model I have is Jesus Christ. Not any human being. You should adopt the same approach too and that way, you will not be losing sleep over some of the things that you see. |

Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a pauper. However, my wife usually has other ideas, and still she will come back to complain about my pot belly crushing her in bed when I am humping away. Which one wey I go follow now? |
I played in one in the State Challenge Cup prelims with my school. Gave a good account of ourselves until the referee (who suddenly started acting as if he had been bribed to side the other team which was playing in the Nigerian Premier League at the time) awarded a controversial penalty against us in the last minute. I guess the state government was embarrassed that the team (name withheld), which was currently topping the NPL at the time was being matched by a university team. Of course, the cultists in our school needed no invitation to invite mayhem on the pitch and the match was abandoned. My school paid severely at the hands of the state govt in several ways that year. |
cold: Dgunnerz:That is because these four men do not go about seeking recognition for what they have, neither do they go about lobbying for national honours so they will known by it. That is why they are not on that list. In contrast, the list you mentioned contains many people who either stole public funds, or were close to those in power who gave them unhealthy business advantage as a matter of policy. This is where you find Dangote, Orji Uzor Kalu, Rochas Okorocha, Mike Adenuga, etc. Only few on that list actually merit it. for example, I do not see why Dokpesi who is always owing his workers four, five, six months pay at a go, or people like Otedola and Jimoh Ibrahim who are owing banks so much money, should be on that list. |
When auditors come around, they will definitely detect the money and trace it to the account where that money is lodged. Simply out, you should meet the bank manager and ask them to trace the source of that money and eventually they will. Do not succumb to the temptation from people here telling you "don't dull". Do you want to live wel, happy and in peace or have to look over your shoulder everytime you go to the bank? |
The sweetness of football is in watching the competitiveness of the game. When you have only one or two sides rolling over all opposition with the kind of scorelines we see in La Liga, then something is wrong. The lopsided nature of the TV rights which gives a chunk of money to Barca and Real madrid and leaves the rest for the other teams to fight over is killing that league. La Liga was much more interesting in the 90s with Valencia, Betis and Sevilla real contenders. Not the kind of baseball scorelines we see now. The EPL is regarded as the best league not because the football quality is so fantastic, but because it is competitive; you never know what you will get week in week out. I am done watching La Liga, except the el classico matches (which in itself is getting more predictable too). For me it is the EPL, Bundesliga and Calcio Serie A. |
I can't believe people still watch La Liga. The entire league is a fucking joke. On Supersport Select, Inter Milan vs Juventus is going on. A much more competitive and exciting game with Juve leading 2-1. God forbid that I will watch La Liga, especially with Barca playing. God forbid bad thing. Nonsense! |
Had one. A classmate who eventually ended in the same office with me. Had a body to die for. We had been friends but I was too scared to scale it up. Later found out from someone that she felt the same way. Actually, she was not looking to go out with me. To quote what a mutual friend told me, she wanted me to quote "drill her with my plunger so hard that it would come out of her mouth". Well, she is married now so that opportunity is gone forever. |
The appropriate thing is to go to court. Usually if you served the 6 months notice and it was not complied with, then the court will award the case in your favour and will also award costs. The tenants will be given a day to pay up and vacate. If they fail, the court can then move in to effect seizures and eviction until you are paid. |
Why is Peter Konyegwachie, the man who won Nigeria's first Olympic Silver medal, being given only an MON? This guy put Nigeria on the Olympic map, and anyone who watched his final boxing bout with Meldrick Taylor in the 1984 Olympics will clearly see he was robbed in that match; a victim of the conspiracy to ensure that the US which was hosting the games would win the most medals. He should get much higher than an MON. Much much higher. |
Who are these "oil cabal" members? Are they faceless? |
dare2think:If you want it and you are objective about your reason for wanting it, then I can tell you how to obtain the records directly. |
violent:No, the quoted statement above is idiocy! Everyone else has been making objective statements, until idiots like the person above stepped in. You do not just wake up and make blanket ignorant statements. I bet you probably have never been to one of the several schools that the church that has a jet has for the orphans, and you probably have never paid school fees for anyone in your life. That is why you think you can use the anonymity of NL to talk and spew arrant garbage from your filthy mouth! The starvation that you talk of was caused by people like Idi Amin, IBB, Mugabe, Museveni, Sassour Nguesso and all the other sit-tight despots dotted all over Africa. So a sensible person will put the blame where it should go. Those who are in government are saddled with the responsibility of empowering its people economically. It is not the primary responsibility of the church. So I will like you to tell me what you have personally done to bring the corrupt politicians in your country to book, as they are the ones responsible for the starvation of millions as you put it. When Mohammed Farah Aideed was stealing aid meant for Somalia's starving, killing refugees and kidnapping aid workers, where were you? Today Somalia is a dead zone, caused by Aideed, Siad Barre and the other warlords. What have you personally done to better the lot of Somali refugees? I can give you records of what the church that has a jet has done in that regard, with money from the pockets of its members. Let us know what you have done before you come here to demonstrate brazxen idiocy and poverty of reasoning. ![]() |
And as an adjunct, I think our men of God have a whole lot to learn from Bishop Desmond Tutu and Rev Al Sharpton, who did not just stay in the pulpit preaching but went out against social and political evils. And they are still doing it. I am baffled as to how men of God cannot come out openly to condemn this obnoxious policy of so-called subsidy removal. Then what are they really preaching? I am a Christian to the core and that is why I am very much pained by the silence on this issue. |
Pastor Oritsejafor has just lost whatever respect I had for him. This is what was happening in Rivers under Peter Odili, when pastors were frequenting government house for meal tickets, except David Ibiyeomie, who of course, fell out of favour with the government of the day. Even the bible records such happenings in Israel and Judah when prophets were being fed by the kings, and they were busy prophesying fake prophecies, until one of them whom King Ahab naturally hated, prophesied the king's death, and the king ordered him to be jailed and fed with bread of affliction pending when he returns from battle. Of course the king never came back alive. I hope Pastor Oritsejafor and others like him read that scripture again and see what God himself does to pastors who forsake the interests of the people in order to enjoy the goodies of the government of the day. |
This is a government that has got all its priorities wrong. What a disappointment! |
Blog icon, Your pdf document is well written. Kudos., However, you need to improve on the quality of the images. Try to get good screen capture and use the %age reduction tool on Microsoft Picture manager to get the right fit for the page. Making the images 80% of the original size works well. This will prevent some of the skewed images you have there, which are as a result of trying to manually squeeze the images. I am sure you know what I mean. Kudos! |
I think I should raise a team to develop alternative energy within 2 years. I am still praying to God to give me direction on how to go about this. The Nigerian government has subjected its people to enough BS concerning this. It is time to put this cabal and their govt cronies out of business. |
The states are broke but the governors are not. What an irony! ![]() |
Kx has in a few sentences, summarised how subsidy should be tackled. Kj_hova, you are speaking too much grammar. The government of Nigeria has enough money to build a new refinery in each state. Refineries do not need to be mega refineries. Even 3 LGAs can form a cooperative to refine just enough petroleum products for their own use. I do not know why we are making such a simple solution so complicated with SO MUCH GRAMMAR. I have done petroleum business for some time and frankly as a player in the industry, I can say that there is absolutely nothing stopping us from refining our own crude here for domestic use and cutting off importation. Militants in the creeks with their limited knowledge refine crude oil. I refined crude oil in the Chemistry lab of my secondary school as far back as 1991. It is not rocket science. The problem is that we have a government that is not ready to do what is right. Imagine the country rep of the World bank coming to say that subsidy is an anomaly, and that in the European Union, people pay tax on petroleum products. What an aggravated insult! Do they produce crude oil in the EU, apart from the countries of the North Sea region that produce Brent Crude whose quality is much lower than Nigeria's Light Sweet? I will cap it up by publishing what other OPEC member states are paying for crude. People like Kh_Jova are the problem in the petroleum industry. They distort the facts and come up with solutions that are not feasible and workable. NIGERIA CAN CUT OFF IMPORTATION OF CRUDE AND STOP SPENDING THE SO-CALLED SUBSIDY. Believe me, heads will roll in this country if subsidy is removed. People think Nigerians will pay N150 per litre on fuel with all the attendant cost implications. We will see how it all plays out. Instead of subsidy removal, this is what we need to do: THE GOVERNMENT (not private individuals) should as a matter of SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY TO ITS CITIZENS, build at least 10 new refineries. THE MONEY IS THERE. IT IS POLITICIANS AND THEIR CRONIES THAT ARE EATING IT ALL IN ABUJA! Come up with renewable energy replacements in 2-3 years. A serious government will deliver. Reduce the demand on petrol by fixing our rail system with immediate effect, and providing power so people do not have to spend money buying petrol for generators. Allowing the CG of Customs to still roam around a free man after his agency committed ECONOMIC SABOTAGE by auctioning the equipment for the National Integrated Power Projects is a crime against Nigerians and humanity. These are the issues that should be addressed, not chasing shadows talking about subsidy removal or not. Read this: Cheapest at the Pump It's not that way everywhere. In fact, in some countries gas is given away or downright cheap. The countries where you can find the cheapest gas at the pump, in U.S. dollars per gallon (2010): 1. Venezuela (7.6 cents) 2. Iran (37.9 cents) 3. Saudi Arabia (60.6 cents) 4. Libya (64.4 cents) 5. Qatar (71.9 cents) 6. Bahrain (79.5 cents) 7. Turkmenistan (83.3 cents) 8. Kuwait (87.1 cents) 9. Oman ($1.173) 10. Algeria ($1.211) You may notice some similarities between these countries. First, none of these countries are considered to have developed economies. Second, none are considered to be full democracies. Third, they are all countries where you might expect to find oil. This is unbelievably sickening! Old pensioners are busy collapsing and dying under the hot sun in Nigeria and our First lady is visiting old people's homes in Australia! Kai, kai. This country is in deep shit. |
OP, You can send her to school and that deals with the problem. Since she speaks good English, why are you even worried? One of my uncles met his wife as a school cert holder and today she is a high court judge after he sent her to read Law. Your bed will turn out how you make it. Some of these so-called educated girls we have are very unrefined in their behaviour and speech and cannot be wife material. So which one would you prefer? Becoming wife material is upbringing which is done from birth. Schooling is just a matter of years. So choose. |
